Holy Twists!! The Soulmate is an absolutely unputdownable domestic suspense.

My onpy issue is that I’m left a little underwhelmed with the ending. I think I was expecting something quite different. Still recommending

Thanks Netgalley and publisher.

Sally Hepworth, author of "The Soulmate", continues her pattern of expertly writing thrilling and spellbinding mysteries! "The Soulmate" focuses on two couples: Gabe & Pippa and Max & Amanda. Their lives are intertwined by one horrifying moment at Gabe & Pippa's house when Amanda jumps off a cliff and dies. However, as evidence is uncovered, some start to wonder if Amanda really jumped or if she was pushed.

I really enjoyed the varying viewpoints in this book and liked being able to read the character's internal motivations. This book caught my attention early and I sped through it to get to the ending. Very enjoyable! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 because I adore Hepworth and couldn’t fathom rounding down for that reason. I have read a number of other reviews of this book, and can only determine that I am the problem with this one. I love Hepworth’s writing style, and will always pick up anything she writes. I just didn’t connect with this story, I wasn’t engaged, and I didn’t like any of the characters. The twists weren’t quite twisty enough for me, and I guessed most of them pretty early on. That said, I still love Hepworth and will always support her new books because she is a true gem. Based on reading other reviews, I think most people will really enjoy this one!

Hepworth writes yet another fantastic suspense novel! The start of this novel was so strong that I had a hard time putting it down. Loved the short chapters and loved Pippa as a narrator.

Around the 25% mark it does become more of a slow burn, and none of the revelations are mind bending, but it was a good solid read with interesting characters.

A great domestic suspense novel that I will be recommending to my fellow book nerds!

The book was decent. Not awful but didn’t blow me away either. There were some twists and turns but sometimes they didn’t make a lot of sense.

It is a decent read.

I thought I had this story figured out and then the author throws her usual twist that had me shaking my head that I didn’t see the twist coming. The Soulmate is a fast read with interesting characters and a great storyline. This author is a must read for me. 4.5 stars

Thank you for the ARC of The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth. This book took me a little to get into, but once I got into it I was hooked. This story looks at the dynamics of a couple, and one with mental illness. I was impressed how respectful this book was written about mania and ADHD, but also understanding the nuances. I recommend!

Man, this book was intense - and I loved every single second of it! It's a super quick read with an ending I didn't quite expect. I really thought it was going in one direction, but was happily surprised that I hadn't guessed the plot. The writing is super descriptive, and I found myself super invested in each of the characters. Definitely a great twisty read.

I liked this book but in comparison to her others it fell a little short for me. I found the characters unlikeable and unlike other Hepworth novels I didn’t find myself rooting for anyone. Still, you can’t go wrong with a Hepworth novel and it’s still worth reading!

Sally Hepworth did it again….a page turner that kept me up late into the night with a plot twist I didn’t see coming!

From New York Times bestselling author Sally Hepworth, comes a twisty new domestic suspense novel in The Soulmate...

There’s a cottage on a cliff. Gabe and Pippa’s dream home in a sleepy coastal town. But their perfect house hides something sinister. The tall cliffs have become a popular spot for people to end their lives. Night after night Gabe comes to their rescue, literally talking them off the ledge. Until he doesn’t.

This story was addicting from start to finish. It was easy to keep turning the pages because of the short chapters. Read this for a thrilling ride about marriage, betrayal, and the secrets that push us to the edge!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from St. Martin’s Press through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Sally Hepworth does an excellent job of domestic drama once again. But be clear, this one is definitely more of a domestic suspense book rather than thriller. The story follows a couple, Pippa and Gabe, who live on a cliff with their two daughters. The cliff is infamous for being a suicide spot, and Gabe's warm and charismatic personality has led him to save many people. But then there's one woman, Amanda, who he does not save and he is devastated. Pippa knows Gabe tried his hardest, right? But then why did she think she saw a push?

This story dives into two marriages, Amanda and her spouse, Max, as well as Pippa and Gabe. It looks into each marriage and what led each to that moment. This book has themes of suicide, mental illness, infidelity, and some violence. I have found some of Hepworth's book to draw me in a little, and I felt this dragged on in the middle quite a bit. I saw some of the twists coming, and didn't really connect with any particular character. I would definitely recommend this as a beach book or if you want a lighter thriller, but it lacks some of the thrill of a true thriller.

I enjoyed this read. It is a great character study with a hint of a mystery. I am looking for other reads by this author based on this book.

I’m still sitting on my thoughts on this one because I flew through it in a day, and I’m sitting here in shock at the ending 🤯

and … I don’t know if it’s a good kind of shock or a bad kind of shock …

THE SOULMATE takes place in two parts - one from pippa’s POV in before and after, and one in amanda’s POV in before and after. I absolutely loved the format it was set up in, and while I was confused at first, I got into the groove of the writing style pretty fast.

this is definitely a domestic thriller at its finest, with SO many curveballs and plot twists, but the ending seemed all too neat for me 😅 in these kind of books, I don’t want to see a happily ever after lol

the characterization was super fleshed out (which I love), and I definitely felt that each character’s moral compass was certainly off the charts 👌🏼 perfect for spooky thrillers am I right

it also just really bothered me how blind the MC pippa was to how everyone was treating her, like girl stop making excuses for shitty people!!!

I think I’m mostly just hesitating on the ending because of how chaotic the rest of the book was and how calm and final the last few chapters were … but I really enjoyed this one so I’m going with 3.5 stars … for now …

a huge thank you to st. martin’s press for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!! this one was perfect for spooky season 👻

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me with this arc.
I gave this book 3.75 stars rounded up to 4.

This story was intriguing - A suspect suicide, dual povs and shifting between timelines that was written seamlessly. This is my first Sally Hepworth book and it was a lot of fun to read this. There were a couple of twists that I didn't see coming and that made it better.

This is my first Sally Hepworth book but definitely will not be my last. What started out as a normal family setting quickly turned into so much more. I thought I knew what was coming but was wrong every single time.

Sally Hepworth does dark relationships really, really well. Really enjoy digging into the characters from their viewpoints and learning their motivations and reactions to trauma.

This book started out really strong. I loved reading about how Pippa and Gerald met. I also enjoyed the mental illness representation. I liked the strong family bonds. The story was unique. I loved the idea of the cliff and the small coastal town. Hepworth did a great job making sure to tidy up any lose ends. She is a great writer. There were a couple of things I didn't like. I didn't enjoy the mob like vibes and the ending for Max. This one could definetly be triggering for some people so proceed with caution. Thank you netgalley for the advanced copy of this book!

Are you married to your soulmate or an absolute stranger?

Gabe and Pippa Gerard have just moved into their dream house: a cliffside cottage in a sleepy coastal town outside Melbourne. It’s a fresh start to their marriage, and the perfect place to raise their two young daughters. But the house’s perfect façade hides something more sinister: The Spot, where the tall cliffs have become a popular place for those wishing to end their lives. After talking someone down from the ledge, Gabe becomes a local hero, saving person after person… until one night, he doesn’t. And Pippa sees Gabe the moment after it happened, standing alone at the cliff’s edge, arms outstretched, palms facing out.

The death is ruled a suicide— Gabe said it was a stranger devastated over her husband’s infidelity. But when Pippa discovers that Gabe knew the victim, she has more questions than answers. Plus, the woman’s husband swears she wouldn’t have jumped. Why would Gabe lie about not knowing her? Why would she have been at The Spot, if not to jump? And did she really jump… or was she pushed? As Pippa works to uncover the truth, the foundations of the life they’ve built begin to crack and their deepest secrets start to unravel.
