Sally Hepworth has the art of writing intriguing domestic thrillers down pat! This was a good mystery (could be a bit past paced but hence the 4 stars) with hard to predict twists, and the more you think you know, the more surprised you will be. Highly recommend, as unpredictable thrillers are hard to come by!

I really enjoyed this one! There were so many times where I was convinced I knew what was coming, and every time I was wrong! So many twists and turns throughout this book, I highly recommend!

Sally Hepworth has managed to write an intriguing alternating POV and alternating timeline mystery that kept my attention the entire way through. The story unfolds at a great pace, with little bits of information being provided to slowly put it all together. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

First of all, the cover artwork is stunning. The Soulmate is my first Sally Hepworth novel and I really enjoyed it. This was an enthralling thriller from start to finish. I usually do not enjoy multiple POV novels because they can be hard to follow. The POVs in this story connect incredibly well, making it easy to follow.
Pippa and Gabe are living an "idyllic" life. They've been married for seven years with two daughters - Asha and Freya. Pippa is a wills and estates lawyer and Gabe is a stay-at-home dad. The couple decides to purchase their dream cottage without realizing how close it is to a popular suicide point, a cliff. Over time, Gabe starts to save the lives of multiple people by convincing them not to jump. Gabe becomes a hero in town. However, one day this all changes when Pippa watches Gabe talking with an unknown woman near the cliff. The next moment, the woman is gone and Gabe has his arms extended palms forward. Pippa doesn't know if the woman jumped or was pushed, but the police end up ruling it a suicide. Pippa's world is turned upside down when the identity of the victim is released and she realizes she knows the woman.
Twists and turns occur over the course of the book and will leave your jaw-dropping. This will be your next TBR.
A massive thank you to Sally Hepworth and St. Martin's Press for an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
Trigger warnings: suicide, mental illness, death, infidelity.

A decent thriller. A quick read and enough twists to keep my interest. Not the best, but not the worst either.

I have loved all of Sally Hepworth’s books and this was no exception! This was very well written and played heavily into her gift of writing domestic thriller storylines that keep you guessing but still tug at the heart strings.
Readers are introduced to what seems like a picture perfect couple in Gabe and Pippa Gerard, but quickly discover that things may not be as perfect as the seem. The book dives into mental illness, and the things that women endure while standing by their man. Pippa at first seems to make excuses for Gabe’s behavior but in the end comes to recognize the toll it has taken on her and their family.
The story told by Amanda also leaves you guessing until the end and presents a heartbreaking twist that I didn’t see coming.
Overall, the book was very enjoyable and hard to put down. The short chapters kept me up late into the night to read “just one more” again and again.
I would highly recommend this book for those who enjoy a psychological domestic thriller. Well done by Hepworth.
Thanks to NetGalley and St Martins press for this advanced reader copy.

Pippa appears blissfully happy living on a coastal home across form a cliff with her hot husband and 2 precious daughters.
Her husband Gabe is the guy everyone loves and a total catch. He has even saved multiple lives talking people off the cliff by there home, which is a well know suicide jumping spot.
One night after a family dinner a young women approaches the cliff and Gabe jumps into motion. Pippa watches from the window but the outcome was very different! She watches is horror as the woman pitches over the cliff and even worse feels she saw a quick push from her lovings husbands hands.
From this point, we go back and discover cracks in the marriage and perfect life that have been there all along. The book is written in multiple point of views and we begin to uncover who this woman is and the tie amongst them all.
It was a great read--kept me fully engaged and had a satisfying ending. 5 stars!!!

So mesmerized by this story, I sat down to read and did not get up until I was done. In true Sally Hepworth fashion, this story had me from the first page as she wove a suspenseful tale that has you second guessing with twists and turns. Pippa is swept up by Gabe’s frenetic energy. A quick courtship, then a wedding, Gabe is Pippa’s soulmate. But after a crisis entered their picture-perfect marriage, Pippa and Gabe move to a small idyllic costal town trying to start over and settle in a scenic cottage on a cliff. Only after they move in do they realize that they overlook “The Drop”, where many have come to end their lives by stepping off into the waters and rocks below. Over the past year, Gabe has become quite the local hero for being able to talk those out of it and saving them. Then one night, they see a woman on the cliff, but this time is different as Gabe steps towards her with arms outstretched, and she plunges to her death. But it seems there is more to the story about what really happened. Why did Gabe respond so differently? Life begins to unravel, which leaves Pippa questioning everything about her husband and what secrets he may be hiding.
Narrated by both Pippa and Amanda who was the woman on the cliff, the layers of their story and their connection begin to peel back. Wonderfully written with complex and flawed characters, Hepworth draws you in from the very first. Ah-ha moments and surprises that will have you guessing until the end. A wonderful read, I highly recommend this book.
Many thanks to #netgalley #sallyhepworth #thesoulmate #st.martinspress for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I read a *lot* of white lady thrillers and this is one of the best I have read in eons. I love a good unreliable narrator, and there’s so much to question in THE SOULMATE as the knots and tangles of this tale become unraveled. What a dang gem.

Pippa and Gabe live in a beautiful house near a cliff with their two daughters, but that cliff is known for its popularity as a spot to die by suicide. Gabe usually talks people down from the edge, saving lives since they moved into the house, but not this time. Except... Pippa isn't convinced that her husband is telling her the truth about what happened at the edge, and there are a few other people who don't buy it either...
This one is full of surprises. The story frequently reveals elements that shock you and make you want to know more. Even when the story is coming to an end, you're still finding out the characters' secrets. It's wild, but a fun read.
CW: suicide, death, violence, infidelity, gun violence, mental illness, psychosis

TWISTY! I love a well planned thriller with multiple twists & the soulmate is a great example of this. I couldn’t put this down & spent a whole vacation day reading this. Atmospheric and idyllic location - what more could you want? Read this now!

Pippa and Gabe live on a cliff that is known to be a popular suicide spot. Her husband has saved 7 lives since they moved there, until Amanda shows up and he doesn’t save her. Pippa becomes a bit suspicious of her husband based off of the way he responds to police and then realizes there is a connection between not only Gabe and Amanda, but involves Pippa and Amanda’s husband as well. As Amanda’s husband, Max, starts trying to figure out what happened to her, Pippa’s perfect life gets turned upside down.
💭Thoughts💭
I started off not loving this book based off of the format. I love a dual timeline and a dual perspective, but both at once was a bit confusing. Overall though, the twists were fantastic and I didn’t see a lot of them coming, which is a surprise because in the authors last book, I felt the twists were not very surprising.

⌛️Favorite Moment⌛️
Gabe and Pippa’s two girls, Freya and Asha, were so sweet and funny. They added a lighthearted element to the story and made me laugh out loud when they ran around the house naked and answered the door to the police. I also loved the love that Pippa had for them, especially as you learn more.

🎉 Theme Ideas 🎉
The Pantry, a local cafe, had these delicious sounding raspberry and white chocolate muffins. Try to make some of these with a nice warm cup of coffee. You can even watch the little mermaid, a fave of Freya and Asha’s.

While at times it felt a bit slow but nonetheless it was a solid read! I really enjoyed the premise, just wish it had a bit more action.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this advance reader copy of The Soulmate.
Reading this book, I couldn't help but think that this was at least in part inspired by Don Ritchie, who talked more than 150 people off The Gap, a cliff in Australia. The book certainly depicted the scene in a way that it pulled me in and made me actually see the narrator's point of view of the cliff.
My favourite part about the book was the detailed intro and the alternating narratives meshing so well into one another and the author making it very easy to follow from one to the other.
The story delivered exactly what the book description promised, but it didn't have as many twists as I would have hoped. There were times that an interesting detail was brought into the foreground, but I didn't find them to unfold into a significant revelation.
Overall, I really enjoyed the writing style and will be reading some of the earlier works of Sally Hepworth, starting with The Mother-in-Law.

Oh my gods!!! I loved and enjoyed it!! It was full of twists and turns and suspense. The story was amazing and the characters are just *chef kiss*. I wouldn't hesitate to read it again and am recommending to my friends.
I can't believe i got approved to review this book and thank you soo much Sally Hepworth and Netgalley.

So Happy to have gotten this advanced copy from NetGalley. This is an unbiased review though. Sally hepworth is such a gifted writer! This book is no exception! Lots of twists and turns are in this book making it far from predictable!

I really enjoyed this one. I think the author really pulls off the atmosphere in this book while keeping the suspense. The plot moves in a great pace as well. I really liked the presence of the woman that went over the cliff throughout the book. She is able to find out what happened when she only had part of the story while she was alive. I liked that the timelines went back and forth in a manner that was linear and did not distract from the plot. I think that this is my favorite book from this author so far. Thanks for the ARC, NetGalley.

The Soulmate was so bingeable! I finished this one in about 24 hours and it was a fun ride.
Pip and Gabe live in a small sleepy sea town but their backyard is a famous spot for people to end their lives. One night a woman falls off the cliff but was it an accident or was she pushed? Told between the past and the present with several points of view, you get a fun story that keeps you guessing.
The twists weren't jaw dropping for me but it was just such an easy read and so I did enjoy it!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
content warning: suicide, infidelity, bipolar

I couldn’t believe it when I was approved for Sally Hepworth’s upcoming release, The Soulmate, which is set to release in April of 2023. Thank you so much to NetGalley and the publisher for this advanced reader copy.
As you probably know, Hepworth is Australian and I believe the setting for this novel was inspired by a popular cliff in Sydney called the Gap which has unfortunately been the scene of hundreds of suicides over the years. The fictional setting is called The Drop and Pippa and Gabe live right next door with their two young daughters. Several people have attempted to get close to the edge, but Gabe has always been able to talk them out of it, until one day he can’t. Was it a suicide…or was it murder?
I thought this one was fine. There were a couple of tropes that are overdone and don’t lead to anything really revelatory. It was entertaining enough but won’t be the memorable read I was hoping for. If you haven’t read Sally Hepworth, I recommend starting with The Mother in Law!
⭐️⭐️⭐️

Thank you Net Galley for a copy of this book, this review is my own.
I have always enjoyed every book I have read by Sally Hepworth and this is no exception! I will admit it is a rarity when a book surprises me with it’s twists and turns and this one had a few I didn’t see coming!
Gabe and Pippa and their small children have a perfect life, living near a cliff, the only thing bringing the ideal home down is it is near a suicide spot where people go to jump. Gabe is “famous” for preventing a lot of these suicides from happening…..until he isn’t…..and everything spirals into a big crazy, insane ride.
I would give this a solid 4 starts!
