If you have never read a Sally Hepworth novel, you’ve been missing thrilling, addictive and on the edge stories that sweep you away.
What can I say about “The Soulmate”…this story will keep you on the edge and up all night trying to finish at that is exactly what I did. Gabe and Pippa have moved into a cottage that sits on the cliffside in a small costal town. Unknown to them, the house and its surrounding cliff has become a haven for people who wan to commit suicide. Gabe is not the talk of the town as he has been cast as a hero from talking people off the cliff’s edge…called “The Drop”. One dark night, a woman shows up and Gabe runs to her as the savior as Pippa watches from the window. One minute his hands are reaching for the woman and then she disappears. What has happened? Usually Gabe rescues those on the cliff but this time, did he miss saving her or was he the cause of her demise? What happens when you believe your savior is now a murder?
I absolutely loved, loved this book. My attention was captured from start to the very finish. Hepworth never fails to provide you with a plot filled with mystery, suspense, and twists and turns on all ends, especially at the short chapter endings. She provides you with a slow, well-paced, and suspensefully crafted story encompassing chills and guesses. There’s a portrait of a happy family that soon dives into a world of secrets and later tattered home. A well-written story with well developed characters that appear likeable with a bit of mystery. Normally, I tend to shy away from novels that have backstory POVs, however those in this novel does the POVs of Pippa and the dead woman credence.
This review is minimalizing what this story is about because you read it to really enjoy the whole picture. A quick read with triggers of suicide, depression, and mental illness that may not be for everyone, but I do recommend reading if you can get pass the warnings.

I LOVED this. The short chapters made it quick and easy to consume between real life events. In terms of thrillers, it wasn’t particularly twisty turny or shocking but the story still sucks you in and, for me, was a happy ending.
I felt that my questions were adequately answered by the end but there was enough ambiguity that it feels like a good candidate for a group or buddy read. It might inspire some riveting discussions!

I loved this story! I loved how the book is told through the POV of Pippa and Amanda (the dead woman). It was refreshing to read a thriller that was actually thrilling.

Gabe and Pippa live in a coastal house right at the edge of a cliff that happens to be a popular suicide spot. Gabe has made a name for himself by talking people off the ledge, literally, until one day when a woman jumps and he fails to stop her. Pippa isn't convinced that he had nothing to do with her fall, despite what she tells the police.
Sally Hepworth does it again! She is the queen of writing fast paced thrillers that will keep you on the edge of your seat, dying to know more. I fell in love with some of the characters in this one, but not the ones you would expect off the bat. There were quite a few twists in this one that kept me guessing and I definitely did not see the ending coming, which made me love it even more. I'm a sucker for multiple POVs and this one had a nice twist on it. I will continue to devour anything this author puts out!

I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review.
This was a slow burn but in the best kind of way. Sally Hepworth is a favorite of mine so I was so glad to read another hit novel! The cover is gorgeous and draws you in immediately. The story had me guessing up until the very end. 10/10 recommend this book!

This book had me surprised at the end of each short chapter, and I couldn’t stop myself from reading “just one more chapter”. As I read, I could feel the image of the perfect family presented at the beginning of the novel unraveling with each page in the most unexpected ways. I felt myself clambering, grasping to go back to the way things were in the chapter before, before the twist, before the new information and I imagine that is how the characters felt too. Sally made me feel like one of them, brought the emotions to the surface and drug me into the story. And I loved every minute. I don’t think I’ve ever read a book this fast, sneaking in pages at every chance. The good news is that Sally has a lot of other books, which I haven’t read yet, and now am desperate to read.

I really enjoyed this book. Short chapters, suspense, gradually revealing more of each character - yes please.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

This was a great fast paced novel, revealing what it means to be dedicated to the person you married, through good times and bad and how it can change you into someone you don't want to be. The characters are well developed but I have to question their dedication to each other. What makes a marriage strong enough to withstand infidelity and mental illness? How does one remain in a situation that has hurt them? This is a book that I will gladly hand sell to those who like twisty plots and shocking motivations.

Brilliantly done, Ms. Hepworth. I love a thriller that keeps you guessing and this one did just that. Mysteries are revealed, answers are given - and then then the rug is pulled out from you time and again as what you thought you knew wasn't the whole story. I enjoyed this one immensely.

I read The Younger Sister earlier this year and became an instant fan of Sally Hepworth. I love her writing style and ability to create great characters. The Soulmate is her latest, and is very good. I don’t feel this is her best book, but I still loved it.

Another winner by Sally Hepworth! Expertly written, with a slew of characters you can’t help but be suspicious of. Kept me guessing until the final few chapters. Well done!

NetGalley ARC (thanks!) - Sally Hepworth has yet to disappoint me, and the Soulmate keeps that streak alive. An entertaining portrayal of the best and most challenging parts of marriage…and murder. Loved it, total page turner that I finished in under 48hrs.

The Soulmate
Meh! I give this one three stars. As a super fan of Sally Hepworth I naturally have high expectations when it comes to her books. Sadly, “The Soulmate “ disappointed me a bit.
One thing I love about Sally Hepworth is her mastery of characterization. As a matter of fact, she is so good at characterization that she manages to create two of the most annoying characters that I’ve come across.
“The Soulmate “ tells the story of Pippa and Gabe who are trapped in a codependent marriage. Gabe suffers from manic depression and for the better part of their marriage he has made reckless decisions that negatively affect him and his family. Pippa deals with his behavior by burying her head in the sand and pretending everything is okay just for the sake of maintaining their image of the perfect family. Well, that doesn’t work so well for her because it isn’t long before Gabe’s actions spill into other people’s lives, which ultimately leads to their destruction.
What I do like is how Pippa eventually faces reality and admits that all is not right with her marriage. As for Gabe, I do not think he understands the concept of accountability. By the end of the story he
Is still a clueless surfer boy who does not seem to have any remorse for what he has done.
If you’re looking to read a decent domestic suspense then by all means, pick this one up. However, if you want better then I suggest checking out Sally Hepworth’s backlist.

This one started out really strong, and I loved The premise. Pacing is excellent, with short POV chapters that keep you intrigued. What didn’t work for me was the title. I kept circling back and wondering when this would make sense… and to me it never did. I thought the ending of him walking off the cliff was anticlimactic, as you never really get the feeling he cares that much about his wife…. Let alone that he feels she’s his soul mate. Gabes story was unique…. But it lost steam. Thank you so much for giving me the chance to read this arc. The family is one of my favourite books by this author.

While I enjoyed the ending, it took me a long time to get to it. I’m a pretty fast reader and generally love books written between 2 or more perspectives but this one seemed to drag on. It wasn’t a bad book at all, I just didn’t think it flowed very well.

From the outside, Pippa seems to have the perfect life. A perfect husband. A perfect house. Two perfect little girls. But are things as perfect on the inside as they are on the outside?
When Pippa and Gabe Gerard notices a woman at The Drop, Gabe does what does best - he tries to save her. But this time, he can’t. And that perfect life Pippa has, might just come unraveled one secret at a time.
Diving into toxic relationships, mental health and suicide, The Soulmate delivers a fast paced novel that proves that everything is not always as it seems.
The Soulmate is full of little twists along the way, and the big “WOW” twist was never there for me. A quick read, but I do recommend checking out trigger warnings as this book may not be for everyone.
Thank you to Net Galley for the advanced digital copy of this book! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Ps. Always look out for your family and friends and therapy is never a bad thing ❤️

I received at complementary ARC of this book from Netgalley on behalf of the Publisher and was under no obligation to post a favorable review.
This was a compulsive read that kept me turning pages well past my bedtime. I couple who is seemingly perfect with two beautiful little girls lives begin to unravel when a woman jumps off the cliff that is behind their new home. Each chapter brings in new pieces to the puzzle of their lives and also of the life of the woman who died. I really liked this story, it involved some interesting topics along with mental illness and how peoples lives are effected by a family member who is struggling.

So thankful to have received an advanced copy by NetGally and St. Martin's Press!
This book drew me in from the start - Could not put it down! The house on a cliff, with a wild first few chapters. Twist and turns, page after page!
The story is told in the POV of Amanda and Pippa. Amanda was told in past tense and Amanda in present tense. Each time I thought I knew what was coming next, I was wrong.
This book touched up on a lot of topics ranging from marriage, to loss, suicide and mental health.
I was expecting a different ending. It felt a little underwhelming given the start of the book. After letting the book settle in my head a little - I realized the ending really tied the title of the book "The Soulmate" together, even if it wasn't what I was expecting.

Wow. Pippa and Gabe live with their two young daughters in a beautiful home with one drawback…a cliff that people often visit with intentions of jumping. Gabe is the town hero who talks them off the ledge, until he isn’t. This book is full of twists and turns and focuses on two very different marriages. I promise you won’t see the ending coming nor will you be able to put this book down!
