This was my first time reading sally hepworth and im obsessed with her writing. And now i need to read her back list this book had me on the edge of my seat and it was so good that i need more. It needed to be longer

This is easily my me of the best books I’ve read in a while. Without giving anything away, the unconventional POVs were clever and held my attention from beginning to end. Full of unexpected twists and turns, this book kept me guessing until the very last page.

Well, Sally Hepworth has done it again. The Soulmate was a draw from the first page to the last page. Pippa and Gabe's story is beautiful, dark and complicated. Ms. Helpwoth will take you on a trip that intertwines with so many peoples lives. Amazing writing and story!

Wow, Sally Hepworth did it again! Another great book full of plots twists. Not all is as it seems behind closed doors. The story is told with alternating characters and through past versus present. This fast paced novel is a twisted tale of secrets, betrayals and intertwined lives. So many jaw dropping events that made me second guess where the story was headed. Highly recommended.

Gabe, Pippa, and their two little girls live in a beautiful cottage that sits on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The cliff is a popular suicide spot in town. Gabe is a charismatic investor turned stay-at-home dad with a special knack for talking people off of the edge and convincing them that they have a reason to live - until Amanda.
The plot of this story was super intriguing and I was excited to dive in. The chapters were short which made me want to keep reading “just one more.” It was certainly a twisty and entertaining domestic thriller with several secrets revealed, which kept me engaged with the story.
It is told from dual POV and in altering timelines (then/now), which I usually love, but one of the points of view is that of the victim. I, personally, had a hard time reading from the point of view of a dead woman who is watching things unfold from the afterlife. I felt that it took me out of the story at times.
The four main characters were all flawed, toxic, and unlikable. I also didn’t love the mental health aspect of this book. It felt like a lot of terrible actions of one of the main characters were blamed solely on a diagnosis and it could potentially feed into stereotypes.
Overall, it was quick and entertaining even if it wasn’t a total win for me. This was my first book by this author and I am looking forward to reading some of her backlist - the writing was great and the main plot twist took me by surprise!

I am very new to the NetGalley family and have really enjoyed reading all the ARC’s! Thank you so much to Sally Hepworth for allowing me to read this book. Gabe and Pippa, Max and Amanda, I felt such a connection to the characters in this book. The twists and turns were extremely well written. I am usually able to figure things out and a couple got me. I would absolutely recommend this for anyone to read.

Before I start this review, I'd like to give a huge thank you to St. Martin's Publishing Group, NetGalley, and most importantly, Sally Hepworth for my ARC of The Soulmate. Seriously, this is such a cool experience, and I'm so glad I had the opportunity to do this.
The Soulmate is a gut-wrenching book centered around soulmates and what you would do for yours. Pippa and Gabe are soulmates, with their own happy family, but not everything is as perfect as it seems. No matter how hard Pippa wants it to be. The family lives in a house right by a cliff known for suicides. Gabe always talks people away from cliffs, but one night he didn't. Though it should be ruled off as a suicide, things get tricky when it's revealed that Gabe knew the victim. Does Pippa trust the love of her life? Or is there more than what meets the eye?
Before you start this book, you must know that there are multiple potential triggers such as: mental illness, suicide, and infidelity. Often times I find myself off put by books like these because I find them to be too "over the top" and exaggerating everything to the point where it is pretty much the most unrealistic thing I have ever read. Of course, you have to keep in mind that this is a fiction book, but even with the heavy topics, Hepworth writes them in a way that is almost tasteful. I never felt that she was "doing too much", and she touched on these sensitive topics that mirrored people's reality.
While it would be my absolute pleasure to give The Soulmate five stars, I ultimately cannot. Though I find myself unable to put this book down, there were some parts of it that just seemed tedious to read. It was as if I was just reading for the sake of getting through it, rather than actually reading and enjoying the book. That being said, the parts that I did enjoy, it had my complete and utter attention. This book is fully of past and present time jumps that flips back and forth so often you're afraid you might get whiplash. However, Hepworth is such an excellent writer that I never got too confused, and it wasn't annoying. I actually quite liked the back and forth, giving the story an extra "oomf" and perspective into the events unfolding before you.
If you needed a sign to pre order this book, then here it is. Get it. I found this book to be refreshing and unlike any "dark family secret" book that I've read before. If you want to be genuinely entertained and have a jaw-dropping plot twist experience, then this is a book for you. Sally Hepworth, congrats on gaining another fan. This was truly a great reading experience.

Gabe and Pippa seem like they have an ideal life. A strong marriage, beautiful girls and a family that supports them in all ways. Moving in to the cliff house was concerning, especially when they learned of The Drop - a place just at the edge of their property that was know for suicides and suicide attempts. This is off putting to Pippa but Gabe thinks it will be fine. He becomes known for his ability to help those lost souls who frequent the location, until one day a woman shows up and their world changes forever. Did Pippa see what she thinks she saw? And can she really trust her husband?
As this story unfolds, what seems like a picture perfect life is revealed to be anything but. A strong plot and character development help propel this story forward to an ending I certainly didn't see coming.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC of The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth for an honest review. This is my favorite Sally Hepworth novel to date. I was intrigued & mostly surprised by the different twists & turns this story took. I did not see that ending coming. It’s a hit!

The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth is a beautiful tragic domestic drama/suspense that left me thinking about the story for a long while after. This is Hepworth’s gift of story telling- you are drawn in and care about the characters and her uniques stories she tells. (Read: The Good Sister)
The story surrounds Pippa, Amanda, Gabe and Max and is a study on marriages.
Gabe and Pippa have a cliffside home that is known to be a suicide spot. Gabe has talked down 7 people from the ledge in the year they’ve lived there until he doesn’t. The rest of the book revolves around the truth of that moment on the cliff and years of lies leading up to it. This book is not the usual trope of marriage and infidelity and the conclusion will blow you away. It’s a must read and Hepworth’s genius is on full display here with the beauty of her writing yet still awesome thriller twists and turns! Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
The Soulmate releases in April 2023.

Thank you St. Martin’s Press for the extreme pleasure of reading this book. It kept my full attention with all it’s various
twists and turns. It is one of the best books I have read this year. Romance, crime, suspense galore. Have recommended
The Soukmate to friends and family. Another great read by Sally Hepworth.

Another page turnery by Sally Hepworth! I saw that THE SOULMATE was a Read Now option on NetGalley and downloaded it immediately. It was the perfect vacation read!
I was engaged in the story from page 1. I loved the short chapters with multiple character points and view. There were so many twists and turns that kept me reading late into the night. It seemed each chapter brought with it another surprise or revelation.
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys domestic thrillers or stories filled with suspense. I wish I could read it again for the first time!
*Thanks to the author, NetGalley and the publisher for providing an e-galley in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first Sally Hepworth novel and I already have some of her past books on my TBR list! This book was a great thriller that I really soared through. While I enjoyed the plot, one of my favorite parts of this book was how the author describes the setting. I could easily picture the house on the cliff with the beach below and it really transported me to another place as I read this.
Getting down to the plot and characters, this had a lot going for it! The characters were well written, especially Gabe as he went through his psychosis. I also loved the dual timelines told by two different characters, one of which was the dead victim. That was refreshing to read! This was more of a slow burn thriller, but the twist at the end was well done. I loved getting to see all the pieces come together and I could tell I was reading a book from someone who has been writing for quite some time.
This is definitely a book I would recommend!

This is the first Sally Hepworth book I have read, but it won't be the last! I really enjoyed this story.
I thought I would get too confused in the way it was written, but it was very easy to follow. It was interesting to see how the story unfolded and how mistakes could be made with things being misinterpreted and relationships being damaged by those misconceptions.
Lots of twists and turns in the story which left me saying, ‘“ I didn’t see that coming”. Don’t want to have any spoilers, but I’m not totally sure I agree with the ending but I would definitely recommend this book to others.
Thank you NewGallery for the chance to review this book.

This book!!! Sally is back!!
I’ve been a long time fan of Sally Hepworth. I’ve read a good chunk of her books, my favourite being The Good Sister. I’ll admit I wasnt a fan of The Younger Wife, but I knew that wouldn’t deter me from reading future books by Hepworth.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC for The Soulmate and I’m so glad that I did. I devoured it. What I love about Sally is that she writes suspense without creating characters that you hate the entire time. I find myself rooting for the people in her books, because they’re multi dimensional and layered.
The Soulmate is about a book about a couple that live on the edge of a cliff. Unfortunately, this cliff is where people go when they feel like they have no other place to then. Gabe, husband of Pippa and father of two adorable girls, finds himself talking people off the edge. But one night he can’t, and a woman dies. But did she jump? A mystery ensues, and it’s twisty and wild and I loved every minute of it.
Definitely recommend. All the stars!

I have loved all Sally Hepworth's books and this one was even better. Great twists and turns and a surprise ending. The characters were all relatable and felt a connection to each. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and looking forward to more from this author.

I was enjoying the book at first. But unfortunately I had to stop reading it. The talk of suicide was too much for me. Otherwise, I think I would have really enjoyed it. The writing style is great!

Sad, sad, sad! Seems too often that what we think is true actually is not so. I envy how so many readers are able to masterly create a synopsis of a book but, when I turn the last page, I find myself, for good or ill, left with simply a firm impression of how the book made me feel. In the case of a Sally Hepworth novel, my impression has, unfailingly been that my time has been well spent peeling the many onion layers to her story. The Soulmate has not been an exception to that expectation. Thank you St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for this excursion.

Gade and Pippa Gerard recently moved into a cliffside cottage in a small town outside of Melbourne. It was their dream home, a perfect place to raise their family and have a fresh start. What they didn’t realize is they were right beside “The Spot” - which has become a popular place for people wanting to end their lives. After talking multiple people literally off the edge, Gabe becomes the new local hero until one night it doesn’t happen. Pippa sees the seconds after it happens and her husband is standing on the cliff with his arms out. Over time as the truth comes out, Pippa learns her husband has a connection to the deceased. As she uncovers the truth, their lives begin to crack and their deepest secrets are revealed.
The Soulmate is such a fantastic read! I was a little skeptical since I didn’t love Sally’s last book - The Younger Wife but I was blown away. Each chapter would bounce between the past and current life for either Pippa or Amanda. The flow between each chapter was impressive and I never felt lost when switching from the past to current. Right away you can feel the love between Gabe and Pippa. They have this intense, co-dependent relationship and they think they require each other for survival. As for Max and Amanda, their relationship seems to grow as the story is being told but in the end you feel this love like no other. This book had me intrigued and wanting to know more as each chapter went on. Each twist and turn not only made sense, but also left you to be blown away by the next one and the next. The book left me feeling deeply connected to every character. I became invested in their wellbeing and future outcome. Ugh!!! I just love getting lost in a book.
This book is scheduled to release in Q2 2023 and this bookworm will be pre-ordering her hardcopy tonight! You should be too!

Yes, I was actually able to read one of my favorite author’s books early! I have read every book of Sally Hepworth’s. Her books are always consistently a 4 or 5 stars and this one is no different!
This book jumped right in setting the scene of Pippa watching her husband, Gabe, try to talk down a person from jumping off the cliffside while she waits for the cops to arrive. She first thought this would be another life he saves, since several times before he has found himself in similar situations, until this person actually ends up dead at the bottom of the cliff. From here, all the questions start swirling and the book really gets going.
The Soulmate has changing narrators and then vs. now perspectives and twists actually peppered throughout the book and not just the end. This book easily kept me wanting to read more to see what would happen next. Early into the book I thought I had a feel for where the story was going to go but I was happily wrong early on and then was left shocked at some of the different twists and information learned about the characters. This book did a good job showing how at its face a situation may appear a certain way but until you are inside a person’s mind you have no clue what their thoughts or true intentions are.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press, Sally Hepworth and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advanced reader’s copy.
