I got this from NetGalley as an early release to review and I LOVED it! The plot line and different character chapters was so interesting. I finished it in one day! I would highly recommend this book to everyone when it comes out. I really did not see the ending coming. I also really enjoyed each character and none in the book annoyed me which is a plus.

I don't know what I was expecting in reading this book, but I can say that it's a great story - and did not fully expect the ending at all until the very end.
I found it interesting that Gabe, one of the main characters, actually had a noted mental health issue - books usually don't outright give such info. However, with this info, the whole story makes perfect sense.
With how the book is written - it initially makes the story confusing. Initially, the time and character changes didn't make sense. However, the further into the story you get, the more it makes sense - you get the details of people's lives and the connections with each other and what has culminated into the event that starts this story.
Take the chance and read this book. It is written n a different way, as I said, but worth the time to savor the story.

I was very excited to receive a copy of this book as I am a great fan of Sally Hepworth. I have enjoyed every book I have read by this author and The Soulmate did not disappoint! The characters are interesting and likable. It is written in the past and present but is easy to follow. Good character development and an ending that wasn't expected. The books I have read by this author include the Secrets of Midwives, Good Sister, Mother-in-Law and The Younger Wife - I am glad I had the opportunity to read the Soulmate!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy in exchange for an honest review

4 out of 5 stars. One of my favorites by Sally Hempworth. I read The Soulmate in one sitting. I wasn’t expecting that ending. I found myself reading until the early morning which I haven’t done in years. I would definitely recommend The Soulmate!

Pippa and Gabe moved to this coastal town hoping for a fresh start. But the stunning cliffs behind their house have a dark past. People who want to end their lives come here and many succeed. Gabe seems to have a talent for talking people into walking away from that final choice. Until he doesn't and Amanda falls. But what exactly did Pippa see? Her death will have a profound effect on both of their lives.
The story unfolds in the past and the present through Pippa and Amanda's eyes( it was different having the dead woman provide part of the narrative). As Pippa tries to discover just who her husband really is, Amanda's husband Maz is just as determined to find out what happened to his wife. He doesn't believe that she would ever take her own life and he has the resources to ensure the guilty get exactly what they deserve.
There were so many things going on between these two couples. Obsession, mental health issues, forgiveness, bad decisions, secrets and lies, and ultimately, a love story. There was only one character's decision( just one!), that I couldn't relate to. I am not going to mention it because it is a spoiler, but I will be curious to see if anyone else feels the same way once this publishes.

FINALLY finished this book I felt like it was taking me FOREVER - 75 chapters too!
I know this book has a lot of high reviews so sorry to be negative but I was not a fan - Pippa was so stupid throughout the book I mean really she’s a grown adult and how much is she going to deal before putting her foot down, or being so damn naïve. I hate when authors paint women as being so weak.
It’s a thriller and I wouldn’t even classify it as that - it’s about marriage truly and yes murder does happen but 60% of the way into the book I realized I didn’t care about Gabe or Pippa and who I cared more about was Amanda and Max and I still echo that after finishing.
Also I think the plot was somewhat repetitive and feel that 75 chapters is a bit too much when Gabe is constantly doing the same things. I rate it a solid 2/5 I wouldn’t read it again nor want to own it - but if you like a dash of murder and a big all about marriage then this may be your kind of jam.

THE SOULMATE by Sally Hepworth
⭐️ rating: 4 STARS ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
📖 genre: thriller, suspense
TW: infidelity, suicide, bipolar disorder
This was a REALLY wild ride! The Soulmate had a lot of elements that I always love in a suspense novel: multiple POV, dual timelines, twists constantly, and an ending I did NOT see coming!
It's hard to say more without giving anything away, but definitely add this one to your shelves! You won't regret it!
Now excuse me while I go back and read all of Hepworth's other novels.
Thank you St. Martin's Press for the eARC!

Wow. This book was so intriguing, I couldn’t put it down. Loved the story arc and how it all fit together in the end and of course, it had quite a few nuggets of gold about marriage and humanity. Loved it! And would recommend it highly!

Thanks to Netgalley & St. Martin's Press, I received an advanced reader's copy of this fantastic work of art by Sally Hepworth. You will feel for each character, cry when they cry and be enraged when they are angry, and fall apart along with them. The twist made my heart drop! Excellent, phenomenal book; get in line for this one!

I read this book while on a cruise ship sailing the coast of Ireland. I needed something that would really hold my attention and this story did the trick. It does make you question what you believe about the person closest to you - your spouse. Are they really what you think they are? Have you been making excuses for them and covering for mental disorders/personality traits that everyone else but you seems to know about. I would highly recommend you read this book. It will definitely make you think.

Thanks to NetGalley and St.Martin's press for this advanced eARC. Sally Hepworth is such a good writer. As she writes more books, the book just get better and better. This is such a read between the lines book to me. Thrillers is my genre of choice and because I do not want to spoil the book, I can only suggest you read it. Read it as soon as you. can. Haha. The book is. very fast paced and has very short chapters. This could easily be read in one or two sittings.

Sally Hepworth is amazing! I think The Soulmate has replaced The Good Sister as my Hepworth favorite (but I'm still working on reading all her books). I loved the characters and their relationships. The story was so twisty, it kept me hooked and guessing from start to finish. I devoured this in a day even though I had lots of other things I needed to be doing.

Pippa and Gabe Gerard live in a cottage by a steep cliff with their 4-year-old daughters Asha and Freya. They are cleaning the dishes after dinner when Pippa spots a woman lingering close to the cliff’s edge. Gab grabs his coat and starts to go out to help her and tells Pippa to call the police. It’s not the first time Gabe has talked someone away from jumping to their death. But this time is different: She jumps. Or did Gabe push her? Pippa notices his arms are straight out with hands up as though he could have. But would her husband do that? And, who was this woman? Pippa lies to the police; says she saw nothing besides what Gabe told them.
And so begins the story of two couples entwined in each other’s lives. The book is a fast page-turner, with short chapters narrated by Pippa (in times labeled now and then) and Amanda (the woman on the cliff) (in times labeled before and after). The book is so good, I don’t want to tell you anymore, but if you like psychological thrillers with a dash of infidelity, mental illness, and suicide, this is a must-read!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A murder/suicide mystery involving two marriages. In reading the alternating viewpoints of both wives, we are transported back and forth in time. As the story slowly unfolds, there is one overriding question. Are their respective husbands bad people, or simply flawed men who are still very much worth loving?
A Sally Hepworth book rarely disappoints. Thank you St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for letting me once again enjoy the work of this talented writer.

Pippa and Gabe along with their two kids appear to be the person family. Gabe is a stay at home dad while Pipa is a lawyer. After recently moving homes where they overlook a cliff they have come to find it’s also a place people go to commit suicide. However, Gabe has been a hero and has been able to convince many of the would be jumpers not to jump. That it until one night a woman appears ready to jump and Gabe goes into action however this time he fails. Gabe is distraught not just because he failed but because he knows the jumper. The police are now asking questions and things may not be as they seem.
This is another absolute gem of a read by the author. It’s the third one of hers that I’ve read and I’ve loved them all. Sally Hepworth is an automatic read for me as her stories are just amazing from start to finish. I really loved the quick paced and short chapters of this book. The book is told from the POV of Pippa as well as the woman who jumped. The storylines interchange between each of the narrators and between the past and the present. I couldn’t put this one down and certainly did not predict how the story would end. This is a must read for everyone and is a definite five star read for me.

Love this book! Had my attention from the beginning and kept me wanting to keep reading to find out what happened. Love the twists and the different point of views !

What is destined to become one of the most anticipated reads of 2023, Sally Hepworth is back!
This is my 3rd book by Hepworth. The Good Sister (4⭐️) and The Younger Wife (3⭐️) were my first two reads.
This was 💯 one of those just one more chapter type of books. A quick read, with short chapters.
However, something happened at the 45% mark that started to derail the train for me. It just didn't work. Things did start to pick back up, but never quite reached 💯.
Dual timelines, multiple points of view, some from the living, some not so much. I thought Hepworth did a good job of making this reader friendly, as we all know this can oftentimes lead to confusion or liking one storyline more than the other.
I found the female characters to display a stereotypical naivete that drove me nuts and some parts of the story were a bit too convenient for me.
I thought about this one overnight as I just wasn't sure what to rate it.
I liked it more than The Younger Wife, but less than The Good Sister, so we shall meet in the middle.
⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (rounded up)
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press the ARC!
I'll forever read whatever Sally Hepworth puts out.

I was super excited to receive an advanced copy of Sally Hepworth's The Soulmate. In the story Pippa and her husband Gabe live in a house near The Cliff where people have jumped to their deaths.
Gabe has saved several people from dying but one night a woman jumps to her death, but what Pippa saw leads her to question the death and Gabe.
At the start I was excited to see where each part of the story would take me; however, by the half way point I didn't really care. The characters seemed one dimensional and there weren't any that I particularly cared for. At the end there is an obvious twist which even though this is a work of fiction, caused me to roll my eyes.
While I did receive an advanced copy from NetGalley, these opinions are my own.

4.5
I was completely, 100% swept into this book from the beginning and it never let me go. It isn't creepy, it isn't even particularly "thriller ish", and yet I couldn't get it out of my mind. What a super fantastic book!

Was a very different read .. was very interesting how it all played out in the end ….
I do not care for bad language 😞 but the book was interesting enough
