I think this is a solid, well written mystery with interesting characters that kept my attention to the very end. Unfortunately, I didn't connect with any of the characters which made me feel removed a bit from the story. This is the first book I have read by this author and since I enjoyed the writing style I will try more by her in the future.

I have read several books by Sally Hepworth, and I have truly loved them all but The Soulmate is the best one to date. I am a sucker for stories about complicated marriages.
Gabe and Pippa live in a remote home near a cliff's edge where sadly people go to commit suicide. Gabe has become a hero as he has talked people off the literal edge multiple times and saved several lives. Until he doesn't and one person perishes.
Told in multi POV, of before and after, this is a gripping story about the marriage between Gabe and Pippa, as well as the Amanda, the person who died, and her spouse. The chapters are short, but every single one of them left me wanting more. The story comes together flawlessly. It was well written and addictive

This is a super fast read with an unexpected plot twist.
Pippa and Gabe are married with 2 4-year old daughters. They live on a house high on a cliff above the ocean. Several people have come by, possibly to jump, but Gabe is always able to talk them down. Then one day, a woman comes by, and when Pippa looks out the window, she sees Gabe's arms outstretched, and the woman is gone.
Pippa is shocked, did Gabe push the woman? When it comes to light that Gabe knew the woman, Pippa begins to wonder at her part in the death. Was Gabe trying to protect Pippa? What is the real story.
This novel goes back and forth between Now and Then and is very cleverly crafted. I would be surprised if anyone guesses the finale.
I really enjoyed this super quick read.

Gabe and Pippa Gerard have had difficult moments in their marriage but are deeply in love, and things have only improved since they moved from Melbourne to a small coastal town with their two young daughters. They adore their house on the cliff until they learn it is a spot where people who want to die by suicide come to jump.
Since they moved in, Gabe has been able to save those who have come to the cliff side in despair—until one night, a woman dies. Gabe’s story to the police conflicts with Pippa’s observations from the kitchen window, and then Pippa learns that Gabe knew the dead woman. Pippa must reckon with the possibility her soulmate lied to the police, and in so doing lied to her. She is willing to go to great lengths to protect Gabe and her family, even if that means covering for him, but as she tries to makes sense of the events, Pippa has to decide just how far she will go.
THE SOULMATE is such an entertaining, fast-paced thriller. The book has two narrators and multiple timelines. I actually preferred the narrator who wasn’t Pippa. I was driven to know what led to the encounter on the cliff and how things would play out between Pippa and Gabe. Additionally, the book raises questions about the existence of soulmates, the limits of loyalty, and the negotiations made in marriages. Mental illness plays a large role in the book, and though one of the characters was an advocate for mental health and suicide prevention, I had concerns about the representation of certain disorders.
Even so, THE SOULMATE was a great read, and I enjoyed it more than THE YOUNGER WIFE, not quite as much as THE GOOD SISTER.

It took me a while to start this review. Simply, because I loved it so much that I wanted my review to not reveal anything so I don't ruin it for you. Just saved yourself the doubt and grab the book. It's worth it, trust me!
The story revolves around a home built on a cliff where people go to commit suicide.
Pippa and Gabe have the perfect little family. Gabe is known as the man who saves those who want to end their lives. One day there is a woman who doesn't survive. Pippa knows what she saw, but Gabe is not being truthful. She later learns that he knew the victim!!!
The best part of this book is the way it is written!! Sally Hepworth gives us the perspective of not only Pippa of course, but the victim, also!!
I for one love to read books where we have multiple points of view. This book makes you wonder who is telling the truth and who is hiding more secrets, and why??
This novel gives us an inside view of marriage struggles, secrets and lies, and the sad discovering that assumptions can really destroy lives.
Sally Hepworth always writes novels that grab your attention at the beginning and are quick reads. You want to finish it in a day, because you simply can't put the book down. She is incredibly talented and continues to entertain us through her words. The Soulmate was my favorite book so far by Sally and I can't wait to read more.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was an okay read. The story moved along at a decent pace and there were well developed characters. I thought the end tied up a little too quickly and neatly.

Let me start off by saying I LOVED the ending. What a wild finish! The ending was filled with twists and surprises that had me gasping. It was action packed and left me with all the excitement of a good thriller. But the rest of the book was honestly a struggle for me. I would have loved this book so much more if it was packed with the same punch I got at the end. This book was very much a slow burn, but far too slow for my liking. The plot gets lost a bit as not much happens until the conclusion. The majority of the story is uneventful. While the “mystery” of story is left in question, it is was never truly a mystery for me as that part seemed fairly self explanatory, the only question was why. I had some issues with one of the points of view, and not just from a realistic standpoint. I feel like there are some statements made and ideas that weren’t very well flushed out or explained and are left up to the imagination. While creative and good for plot development, I feel like we could have gotten some better explanations. I only started to like some of the characters at the very end and had trouble connecting until then. By the end I did appreciate enjoy Pippa’s character development as well as came to understand both Gabe and Max much better. Also appreciated the mental health representation. While this would have been a 2 or 2.5 for me, the ending definitely it up. Overall, the ending left me satisfied but I wish it didn’t take so long to start enjoying.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, Sally Hepworth, and NetGalley for the advance readers copy in exchange for my honest review!

The Soulmate is about 2 couples whose lives are intertwined leading up to an apparent suicide. I like the way that this was written, from the views of the 2 wives in the past and present. It didn’t take me a while to get into. I feel like giving some sort of clues or mystery at the beginning, aside from the suicide, would’ve captured me more. Once it got going, it was an enjoyable, quick read. I didn’t necessarily find any of the characters compelling and some of it was a little ridiculous. Regardless, a fun read.

Thought this was pretty good--definitely did not expect the twist ending, but I would categorize it as more so Women's fiction versus a thriller. Or at least a woman's fiction thriller. Somewhat forgettable after the fact, but enjoyed it while reading it. Went by fast.

⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 “But did I like it?!” -My everlasting internal struggle of what it means if I finish a book in 24 hours.

✍️Sally, Sally, Sally, I thought we were soulmates, but your latest mystery thriller has me thinking that perhaps I just got caught up in the whirlwind of 2022 when I binged your earlier books. The Soulmate may have the ✨prettiest✨ cover, but just like the ocean water that people in this story jump into, I’m not that shallow. 🌊 While I typically love stories about marriages on the rocks, I guess that when the term becomes literal, it loses some of its flair. 🪨
Now here’s where my conflict arises: I finished The Soulmate in 24 hours but IDK WHAT THAT MEANS. On one hand, it must be good, right? On the other, I’ve never actually finished a 5⭐️ book in one day. If I finish a book before the sun even sets, I’m probably flipping the pages a little too fast instead of savoring it, the way a good book should be read. Right? 🤷♀️
My 24-hour binge reads will always confound me, much like the motives of the strangers in this novel who approach the deadly cliff in Gabe’s backyard, while he garners a reputation for literally talking people off the ledge. What a good guy. 🫡
➡️ Curious what my number one Hepworth is? 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗼𝗼𝗻!

Thanks to Netgalley, St. Martins Press and Sally Hepworth for this ARC. This story is one that displayed various kinds of love and the outcomes… good storylines, a few crazy people, and a great cast of characters… my kind of book. Sometimes a little drawn out and in parts for me a bit slow, but loved it !

I loved everything about this book. I actually stayed up all night reading and I have no regrets about that at all!! I enjoyed the storyline immensely and found the characters were flawed but likable. I don't want to give anything away, so I'll say it's definitely worth the time to read and I highly recommend.

This is one of those books that I had to force myself to put down for work.
This story is told from two perspectives, Pippa and Amanda. I enjoyed this style of telling as it provided juicy details about both couples and kept me on the edge of my seat.
Pippa and her husband Gabe live in a cottage on a cliff, and this particular cliff is known as ‘The Drop’ where people go to end their lives.
To date Gabe has talked to and saved numerous people from jumping. Then one day a woman jumps, and as the cops question both George and the woman’s husband secrets come to light. Gave told Pippa he didn’t know the woman, well.., you guessed it he did.
The Soulmate was a great book, 4.5 stars!
Seriously, this book for me hooked and I can’t wait to read more from Sally.

I enjoyed this book so much, my second favorite after The Mother-In-Law. I always love Hepworth’s voice and her stories unfold perfectly. She is amazing at subverting your initial judgments and gives the characters nuance and depth which makes for such a fun reading experience. I always look forward to the next Sally Hepworth novel! Thank you for the review copy!

Book Review: The Soulmate by @sallyhepworth I read this one months ago, and as usually I am really behind on my reviews. Don’t let that hold you back from reading this latest from Sally! It was a really gripping mystery/thriller. I wasn’t sure who to suspect for the major crime that happens right at the start of the novel- so many possibilities. Thanks to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for the free arc.

ABSOLUETELY LOVE THIS BOOK SO MUCH. The twists kept twisting, the shock was so perfect, just absolutely loved it.

This was so good! So binge worthy with short chapters (I love this in a thriller), tons of twists that were all unexpected, and multi-POV. I was hooked from the very start, the setting was so fun and peculiar, and it is a little bit more "mystery" than traditional thrillers. I really enjoyed and am looking forward to reading more from Sally!

This was a thriller that truly lived up to the genre. It was fast paced, filled with twists and turns, and had an unexpected ending. I also thought the characters were well flushed out. Highly recommend!

The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth was a suspenseful and thrilling novel about marriage, family, and how far you would go to keep your secrets.
Gabe and Pippa live moved to a house on the edge of a cliff to escape the city life and raise their family. Pippa's family followed her in the move to be close to their two grandchildren. While living at this house they find out that the life outside their door has become a spot for people to come and end their lives. When Gabe spots someone in the window he can sometimes go out and talk them down, but not this time. The family spots a woman out the window and Gabe goes out. Gabe and the woman engage in conversation and Pippa moves towards the window, the next thing she know she sees Gabe with his arms outstrecthced and the woman is gone. What unfolds next will change their family forever.
This is a fun domestic suspension novel! I really enjoyed the characters and the twists were awesome as always! I can't wait for the next Sally Hepworth book!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This was a pretty average mystery/thriller. Nothing revolutionary but good enough to keep you reading to the end.
