It grabbed me from the first chapter. They were quick and immediately that caught my attention. I love quick chapters I can grab a few between my daily tasks. The book itself wow, the first half was shocking, thrilling, made me laugh in parts and had me quickly predicting all the wrong things! It was unexpectedly refreshing. The second half of the book was just as exhilarating. A slow burn thriller with a twist!

The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth was an excellent read. It explored the effects of mental health on a marriage and the struggles the other spouse often faces trying to keep their head above water while protecting their loved one. It was full of mystery and it kept me guessing until the end. It was written from several points of view and each narrative was so engaging. It was my first book by Sally Hepworth but won’t be my last. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

Thank you to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for the earc book of Sally Hepworth 's latest. I devoured this in three days, if it wasn't for my darn old day job, I probably could have done it in a day.
This one will be out April 4, 2023 and as soon as you have the chance, grab it!
The twists are turns are tremendous and I loved it.
Gabe and Pippa live in a beautiful house at the beach, high on a cliff. This is their dream home and there is only one big problem. It seems this particular spot is a place where many people go to commit suicide. Gabe has decided to be the self prescribed hero and talk folks off the ledge literally. He has successfully succeeded in talking 7 people back from the edge.
Pippa is in the kitchen with Gabe and their daughters when she sees a woman close to the edge. Gabe goes to help while Pippa calls the police. As Pippa watches the woman disappears over the edge and it looks like Gabe has his palms up and arms out like he might have pushed her. There is no way that could be, could it? Days later, Pippa learns that the woman was actually Gabe's old boss's wife. Why would he not tell the police he knew her? What really happened outside on that cliff?
You will love every twist and turn that keeps you guessing. I didn't see the last one coming! Great book.

I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley and am writing this voluntary, honest review. Ms. Hepworth wrote an amazing story that kept me guessing until the very end. Each character was well developed throughout. I could not put this book down! I will definitely read more by this author.

I requested this ARC when I saw a review on Instagram saying it was amazing, 5 stars. I had read one other book by Sally Hepworth and loved it so I wanted to give this a shot as well. I can say, I am VERY happy I was given this arc and read it immediately. WOW!

The amount of twists left me in shock. It also made this book so very hard to put down. It’s told in dual perspectives in different times (then and now). As soon as I knew what was happening, I didn’t! I had countless conclusions in my head but not a single on was right. I absolutely loved that the most.

The ending was so unexpected but such a perfect way to wrap up this story. I loved and then hated almost all of the characters but it made it that much better. Please give this book a read, you will not be disappointed!

This was a great one...another win for Sally Hepworth. So many twists in this story! A good dose of drama along with a mystery to solve. Appreciated the sensitivity around key social themes which I won't mention because they could be spoilers. Loved the them/now which was so creatively done. Definite 5 star!

Now THIS is how you do a thriller. Twist after turn after twist, whenever I thought I saw something coming the next development threw me for a loop. It was honestly EXCELLENT.

That’s all I will say so as to give away not even an inkling of the book but if you like a mystery thriller, pick this up immediately!

Gabe and Pippa live with their young daughters in a beautiful little home on a cliff. When they bought this clifftop cottage, they didn't realize that it was a popular place for people to end their lives. Gabe has become a sort of savior who talks to these troubled people long enough for them to change their minds. But then comes the one person that he's not able to save. And when Pippa finds out that Gabe knew this person and lied to the police about what occurred up on the cliff, she starts to doubt how well she knows him at all.

And she's right because boy does he have secrets. But he's not the only one, as we come to find out. They have had quite a tumultuous marriage due in no small part to Gabe's fluctuating behavior. He can be so happy and full of life, but then it can turn to weariness and despair in an instant. He either has trouble holding down a steady job or he's excelling in the office with promotion after promotion. You get tired just reading about him, at times. And Pippa's a bit too accommodating to his needs, for my taste. Yes, she loves him and sees him as her soulmate, but she's a huge enabler. She's frustratingly naive most of the time and I wish her character wasn't so weak in that regard. He always lies to her, and she refuses to see it. So it's hard to read at times because neither of these two is likable.

There's another couple involved in the plot, but I can't say too much except that the narrative is more enjoyable and believable from the woman's point of view. And that's ironic, given her situation. At times, it was confusing when the narrative jumped back and forth because I'd have to stop and think about which woman's perspective we were experiencing. Their two personalities were almost interchangeable and that was slightly disappointing. But I loved how little twists and surprises are woven through the story, like "What! Did I just read that?" I love when you're thrown off because there's no big build-up, just a casual mention of something incredibly unexpected. It's a fun story, and you'll be racing through it trying to figure out how it can all possibly be resolved. You won't be disappointed!

This was a one day read! I absolutely devoured the book. As a big thriller reader it’s disappointing to only have the twist at the end to look forward to and this book is not that. Told in dual perspectives and dual timelines you piece together the story (or try) with many smaller twists along the way. I loved this book and am sad for those needing to wait until April to read. Best by this author!

They end up rescuing a lot of people, but one woman dies. And when it turns out that they knew the woman, it brings up a lot of questions, and tests their marriage. This book was an amazing domestic thriller. Sally Hepworth never fails to deliver an amazing story on the intricacies of families and the drama and secrets that they keep. The book is told through two different women (Pip, and Amanda), and in two different timelines, the past and the present. Interestingly enough, Amanda's present timeline is actually told from her perspective after she has passed away. I found that this helped move the story along as we could then see what was going on with her husband during the story.

The first third of the book was a bit slow, however once you get past that part the book speeds up. The chapters were short and always ended on a cliffhanger, which just made me want to keep reading more to find out what was going to happen. There were several small twists throughout the book that actually made sense to the overall story.

Like always Hepworth gives us great characters that are fleshed out and fully developed. She also did a great job of really highlighting mental illness, and how it affects not just the person suffering from it but the people around them as well.

I will definitely be recommending this book!

Definitely a 5 star! This book griped me from the start! I did not want to put it down. I finished it in one day.

Oh man. This is my second book by the author and I have to say that she has a cadence. I think that if I read another book by her blindly, I’d recognize it was hers, which in itself is a huge accomplishment! - similarly to The Mother In Law, this one was about family dynamics, secrets, trying to hide things and protect those you love. It had quite a few twists, but in a way I feel like her books have a calmness to them, even as something shocking is being revealed. I immensely enjoyed this one!

New Sally Hepworth? I'm in. The Soulmate was well written, with plenty of twists that I did not see coming. I liked the short chapters and the inclusion of a character speaking from the afterlife. The beginning and end are really strong, but it sort of languishes in the middle, and I was never fully invested in Pippa and Gabe's relationship. I think because it's so plagued with issues, the characters feel very removed from one another, which made it hard to connect to either of them. We're told about their connection, but I never felt Pippa's love for Gabe, so her staying with him didn't make sense. It felt like he was gaslighting and manipulating her the entire time, so I struggled with who I was meant to be cheering for. That all being said, I liked the book and would recommend it to fans of Hepworth and of the genre.

This story follows the Gerard family, who live near a known suicide spot. When Gabe Gerard unsuccessfully talks someone off the ledge for the first time, understandably there are questions. This book took a complex look at two families who became intertwined with unfortunate consequences. I felt like this was a really unique take. It was less of a thriller and more of a mystery, but it was really compelling and I absolutely blazed through it. Sally Hepworth has a great talent for creating a world and a complete picture.

To summarize this book in one word: WOW ! Sally Hepworth is the Queen of domestic thrillers. I absolutely LOVED this book ! The mystery is a slow-burn, with small twists along the way leading up to the big twist(s) at the end. But what stands out is Sally's captivating writing style that makes you really connect with the characters. Told in alternating timelines through multiple POVs, this is a binge-worthy book that you won't be able to put down and that will keep you guessing until the very satisfying end. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Okay, this had a good premise, but I think it didn't quite make it there execution wise. At times, I thought the author was unsure of where the story was leading, and I thought the ending was basically that. I wish I would have liked this more!

Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆ ; Sally Hepworth does it again! I enjoyed the premise of the story, the dual POVs, and the twists and turns! The ending (& last final jaw dropping twist) was satisfying and tied up the story really well! You could easily read this in one sitting! ⭐️

This is one of the best domestic suspense novels I’ve read in a while from the queen of the genre, Sally Hepworth. It follows two couples whose lives are intertwined. Both are hiding dark secrets while also confronting the realities of their dysfunctional relationships.

I finished this book in two days because I was glued to the pages. The pacing was quick, the dialogue was sharp, and the plot was absolutely gripping.

I really enjoyed that this read deviated from many typical thriller or suspense books — slow burn with a huge reveal or twist thrown in at the end. This had twists and turns throughout, and the developments as the story alternated between past and present from multiple POVs kept me hooked.

I also found myself rooting for the morally gray and flawed characters, even though many had unlikable attributes. Sally Hepworth is the queen of writing sympathetic unlikable characters, too.

You should definitely add this one to your most-anticipated books of 2023 if you are a fan of domestic thrillers/suspense. I can’t wait to read more of Sally Hepworth’s backlist.

This is an incredible, intense, psychological thriller with twists and turns everywhere, that had me as they say: "Hook, Line and Sinker" from the very first page!
Each chapter alternates from before, now and then by characters Pippa, and Amanda, as they tell this story.
It creates such a neat way to understand the mindset of each person's feelings and thinkings as well to try to anticipate (though it is impossible) what is going to occur next!

There is a house on the edge of a cliff that is called "The Spot". It is where people walk to when they are finished with life.
When Pippa and Gabe bought a home right at this location, they had no idea of what the "Spot" was.
Gabe has had the privilege of getting many "Off the ledge" and he is quite proud of his success. Not all are actually ready to leave.
One night he meets a failure and the horror and suspense begins!
Does Gabe know this person who has chosen death?
Did she really jump or did she fall? Or what?
Some thing is not quite right here.

I adored this novel!
Sally Hepworth as always has really nailed it. It would make a great movie.
Hang on to your hats and pick up this book!
