This was a terrific book with plenty of twists and turns and secrets and intrigue with a little mental illness and an illegitimate child thrown in just for good measure. Reading Sally Hepworth is like taking a break from your personal life to enter the lives of two couples-complete with the complexities they are dealing with. The ending came as the biggest surprise of all to me-I never saw that coming. I highly recommend this book and gratefully thank St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read it.

I found this book surprisingly good, the unraveling of secrets, marriage and push to be the perfect wife. The story line was very thought out and powerfully moving and very relatable. How far can you be pushed in a marriage before you break? This story touches on mental illness, the ups and downs of marriage, add in murder and you have up all night thriller.

Gabe and Pippa live in lovely costal town with their dream home that sits on cliff. However the tall cliffs have become a popular place for people to end their lives. Night after night, Gabe comes to the recuse to talk them out of jumping till one night he does not save a women. His story of what happen that night seems not at all what Pippa saw, something seems off. Who was this woman and what did she say to Gabe? Dark secrets come back that Pippa thought she had long buried. Everything she has protected is exposed and she will have to face to understand how they got here.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for copy of this book for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this domestic drama from Sally Hepworth. I enjoy the dual POV and the mystery of who's side to believe. I also loved the dual timeline, I think that is always an interesting element in a fiction story with thriller like elements.

For an honest review, I received an ARC.

The story was quick and easy to read. The characters move from the city to a cliff-side ocean view home. When someone known is killed, the ex-boyfriend (house owner) becomes the suspect. With a lot of secrets and many missed messages in communication, the story continues to weave.

While it is was not an OMG ending for me, there was a decent twist.

Wow, Sally Hepworth has done it again. I almost read this all in one sitting. What a great exploration of the complications of marriage, especially when mental health is an issue. There were plenty of twists I didn’t see coming and the ending was great. Definitely going to read more Hepworth after this one!

Sally Hepworth is the queen of domestic suspense and The Soulmate definitely fits that bill.

Pippa and Gabe move to a house on a cliff where Gabe becomes famous for talking women off the cliff. But one night he is not successful. As the police investigate, Pippa realizes the woman’s death is connected to Gabe’s former boss, Max.

Sally is so good at making a twisty, suspenseful drama. I gasped a few times but I like that she does not make it unbelievable. I liked the dual POVs of Amanda and Pippa and thought Amanda’s was very creative in driving the story (you’ll have to read to find out why).

There are trigger warnings I’d encourage you to check out before reading.

Gabe and Pippa have two young daughters and recently moved into a beautiful home on a cliff located in a coastal Australian town. The cliff has come to be a notorious spot for people who choose to end their lives by jumping to their death. Gabe has become a sort of hero as he has the unique gift of talking to people and convincing them not to jump.

One night a woman comes to the spot. Gabe approaches to talk her back from the edge and he does not succeed, and the woman jumps to her death. Gabe tells the police that she was distraught over her husband's infidelity. The next day Pippa learns that the deceased woman was the wife of Gabe's boss.

The book is told from alternating points of view, that of Pippa and Amanda (the deceased woman). Each point of view is like peeling an onion with layers upon layers. This story was full of twists and turns and was very entertaining.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy!

3.5⭐️

Outside, I hear the great crash of the ocean. Gabe always talks about how calming he finds that noise, but I’ve always found it ominous. Tonight, it is the most horrible sound in the world.

Pippa’s husband, Gabe, has been known to save the poor souls attempting to take their lives by jumping off the cliff in their backyard, aka The Drop. Usually he successfully talks them down, but one night, Pippa sees the woman fall from The Drop and Gabe’s hands outstretched toward her. When the identity of the woman is revealed, Pippa isn’t sure she can trust her husband’s account of the events leading up to death after all.

I really loved having Amanda’s POV after she’s dead, and I love how it’s her and Pippa telling the story. Almost every chapter leaves you with a cliffhanger that makes you want to keep reading, the story itself is interesting and complicated, and the ending was kind of cute but also tragic at the same time. Overall, a pretty good thriller!

Goes to show how dangerous it can be, thinking that you know someone.

This was such an interesting story, I read it in one day, in one sitting. It had me totally hooked until the end. I felt like the ending and twist at the end fell a bit flat and didn’t really make sense. I still very much enjoyed this thriller and will definitely be reading this author again

Found this to be very average for the most part but the twists were actually really good. I just wish I connected with the characters more. A few plot holes but overall a good thriller. Would recommend for beginners of the genre.

To say this fell flat would be an understatement. I don’t think I’ll pick up another book by this author.

I also predicted the ending. What I will say is that the setting was a main character forsure.

Unpopular opinion, but I didn’t love this one 😬

For starters, I have & read loved all of Sally’s books! I always enjoy her storylines and writing style.

Much like her other books, I enjoyed the short chapters and the quick read, but I had a really hard time staying engaged. I didn’t care about what happened nor did I really enjoy the storyline. I can’t even count the number of times I started and stopped this one because I just wasn’t interested.

The story is told in multiple POV’s & one of the POV’s just felt off. This is definitely a forgettable book & I have already forgotten a lot of what happened. The twists are good and I did like how it ended, but overall it just wasn’t a favorite of mine.

**I have seen so much great reviews for this one! Definitely recommend giving it a read if it interests you!

When it comes to domestic suspense, Sally Hepworth is the queen, but this one wasn’t my favorite of hers. The synopsis grabbed my attention from the get-go, but it also brought to mind two important questions: 1) What is so special about Gabe that he is able to talk people out of jumping off of a cliff? And 2) What parents in their right minds would raise their family next to a cliff that is a well known spot for committing suicide?

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, though. This story, told through the POVs of Gabe’s wife (Pippa) and the woman he was unable to talk down from the ledge (Amanda), had so many hidden secrets, and I was really glad nothing was revealed too soon. While the storyline held my attention for the majority of the book, the end seemed to kind of fizzle out. Overall, I thought it was a pretty good book, other than a few unrealistic scenarios and the underwhelming end.

This is my second Sally Hepworth book and it's very clear they are all pretty different. I was hooked in the beginning, then lost interest a bit, but pulled through at the end and it really got interesting! I enjoyed it, but I wish it held me captive through the middle part!

DNFed about 30 pages in. I was expecting so much more from this book. Sally's books are usually a hit for me but this was a dud.

Pippa and Gabe have been living for a couple of years in a lovely cottage in a small coastal town. It’s a highly desirable, tranquil spot — but it sits on a cliff high above a rocky shoreline. And desperate people have discovered that the cliff is a perfect place to end their lives. However, in the short time they’ve lived there, Gabe has been able to persuade every person who’s come there to walk away.

Then one night, he doesn’t succeed. A woman jumps to her death. Pippa and Gabe are both horribly shaken. But when Pippa finds out Gabe knew the woman, it prompts questions and doubts. Because while she and Gabe are incredibly in love with each other, their married life has not been easy. Gabe has been unstable at times. Now, Pippa can’t escape the questions: Did Gabe lie? Did the woman jump, or was she pushed?

The Soulmate is another gripping domestic thriller from Sally Hepworth. I’ve enjoyed all her books, and this one had some good twists. The plot insistently presses forward, with secrets gradually revealed, and readers aren’t sure whom to believe, much like Pippa. The ending is satisfying but also bittersweet. Recommend.

What a wild ride! I had a hard time putting this book down. This was my first Sally Hepworth book, and I truly enjoyed it!

We follow Pippa and Gabe while they are living in their coastal cliff side home with their small family. Over the years, Gabe has been able to talk several people down from taking their lives (via jumping off the cliff near their home). Unfortunately, Pippa witnesses Gabe’s attempt at saving a woman fail…as she was there one minute and gone the next. Pippa panics, and believes that Gabe *might* have pushed her…

Thanks so much to Netgalley for the ARC! I highly recommend this book if you are looking for a fast paced thriller!

The Soulmate starts with a woman close to the edge of a cliff, it’s thought that she’s going to jump off, ending her life. Puppy and Gabe, crazy in love, have moved with their family to a lovely house. The only problem is, it sits right on the edge of a cliff and is a well known suicide spot. Gabe has fortunately been able to stop seven people from ending their lives, but isn’t able to stop this woman. After the jump, tons of questions arise. Who was the woman? Did they know her? Is Gabe lying… is Pippa? Can Pippa trust Gabe?

This is a hard book to review, I liked some elements and really didn’t like others. The story itself is good, easy to follow and kept me engaged and interested. It had a couple of good twists I didn’t see coming. I would say this is more of a domestic thriller. The characters are extremely unlikeable. I know stranger things have happened, but the story and the characters feelings did feel unrealistic at times. I didn’t like any character except Amanda, and I really liked how we read her POV, it was different and made sense in the end, it was a good perspective and way to explain different aspects of the plot. I really struggled with Pippa and her love for Gabe, Pippa was so frustrating because she was so naive, forgave Gabe way too easily and at one point says he’s too far gone for help which was just an eye roll. Gabs was so awful, but so was Pippa. I just couldn’t buy the soulmate aspect of their relationship because they both did horrible things to each other. I did like the ending, and I liked Amanda’s relationship with Max in a way, except for the not saying I love you, I just again, couldn’t buy that. Their story was sad, but I liked the ending. Not sure if I’ll read another from this author. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the free preview in exchange for an honest review.

Enjoyed this much more than the other Hepworth books I've read in the past. This book was twisty and entertaining, but didn't go much deeper.

Well, this sure was an interesting read! A unique story about a couple who buy their dream home on a cliffside with beautiful views. Gabe and Pippa are happily married with two little girls, they are soulmates The cliff is well known for people jumping off and committing suicide, and Gabe has a knack for talking people out of jumping and rescuing them. Then one night woman does jump, and Gabe is left standing by the cliff alone. What happened that Gabe isn't talking about with Pippa? Who was this woman? So many questions and so many twists and turns in this mystery/suspense novel. I really enjoyed the writing, story (very detailed) and strong character development. From the very beginning to the twisty end, this book held my attention and had me wondering what was going to happen. This is the first book I've read by Sally Hepworth and I can't wait to read some of her older books. I read the kindle version of this book and liked it so much that I purchased the Audible version, so when I couldn't read, I could listen. Excellent narration by Barrie Kreinik and Jessica Douglas-Henry. I highly recommend either version.

I received the advanced readers copy of this book from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley in exchange for my Honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own. A very special Thank You to St. Martin's Press, via NetGalley.
