This new novel from Sally Hepworth is exactly what you expect of her - a soap opera full of domestic drama and intrigue.
While her books probably aren’t going to win a Pulitzer any time soon, they are the story equivalence of comfort food - engaging and fun, yet requiring little effort from the reader.
Thanks to #netgalley and #stmartinspress for this #arc of #thesoulmate in exchange for an honest review.

Very interesting idea. I could have done without the dead pov but I can see how it ties in with the title. Slow to start but picked up. The final twist, didn’t see coming so that’s always nice.

I absolutely adore Sally Hepworth’s writing and her latest novel does not disappoint. I was hooked from the first page, and I loved how the story unfolded using different narrators to show different perspectives. I really enjoyed how the concept of devotion to a soulmate was woven into the story, and I was captivated by the ending. This review is really difficult to write because I want to ramble on about all the details that made me love this book, but I also don't want to ruin those moments for future readers, so I'm left being vague. If you're a fan of psychological thrillers, definitely give this book a go.

A new top domestic thriller, Sally Hepworth has perfected the propulsive, page-turning mystery perfect for a day at the beach.

Now and then, you will come across a book that consumes your mind and attention. This is one of those books. The story is twisty, compelling, and also tragic. I appreciated that the twists were shocking, surprising, and not foreseeable—especially the last one ( I was shattered and needed an emotional break from reading).
This book is about how women can fall hopelessly and madly in love, showing how people can be in toxic and extremely dysfunctional relationships. This is a great thriller to get you thinking and will twist your insides about how something like this could be going on, and on the outside, it seems fine until it's not.
Gabe and Pippa look like your average family and even have some close family. However, their house is located on a cliff(which people like to commit suicide on). At the same time, Gabe can talk down several people from the cliff. However, one day, things changed. An older woman approaches the house, and while Pippa is observing from the window with Gabe and this mystic woman, she sees her husband's arms stretched out, and the older woman falls. While Pippa is trying to comprehend if this woman jumped or did her husband push her. Could Gabe do something that sinister? While the death is ruled out as a suicide, something still bothers Pippa. Then when she learns the name of the woman, everything can change.
This story is told from a dual perspective between Pippa and Amanda (the woman who fell), and this is soo deliciously twisted and a great afternoon read because once you start this book, you will be hooked and unable to get away from it! I recommend this for thriller lovers because you will be on the edge of your seat! Thank you, NetGalley and St. Martin's Press, for this AMAZING opportunity to read and review! This one was an absolute treat!

The Soulmate has the delicious bite of suspense as told from the perspectives of two different women, one alive and one dead. I love the way the narrative goes back and forth from past to present and the unsettling feelings that evokes. I wasn't sure where the story was going and I was pleasantly surprised by the twists and the way the ending wrapped up all the loose ends and felt emotionally satisfying despite the sad circumstances.

Many thanks to my friends at @stmartinspress and @macmillan.audio for the #gifted copies.
Brilliantly layered and full of intrigue. Hepworth delivers another page turner that I couldn't look away from.
Two marriages. On the outside, the very picture of perfection. But secrets and betrayals leave us wondering: Are they truly soulmates?
Compulsively readable. With short chapters and alternating point of view, I found myself entrenched in this mystery, dedicated to unraveling the details. The way Hepworth plays with perception is always a treat, and I found her skills superbly executed in this latest foray.
And then there’s also something about the way she writes relationships and families. The dialogue, the emotion, the miniscule details of home life. There’s an authenticity to the characters as individuals as well as how they interact within the unit.
I am a huge proponent of quality mental health representation, and in The Soulmate, Hepworth nails it. There is a sensitivity to the execution alongside quality depiction of both illness and treatment.
Hepworth knows how to captivate and never disappoints. I’m confident The Soulmate will be eagerly welcomed by fans of domestic suspense.
🎧 I enjoyed this one in both print and audio formats. I must admit that I’m a sucker for a great accent, and the narration by Barrie Kreinik and Jessica Douglas-Henry was like music to my ears.

This is the third book I've read by Sally Hepworth, and she hasn't disappointed yet. While The Soulmate seems to focus on one marriage, it's really the story of two marriages, narrated by the two wives - Pippa and Gabe are the primary couple, and do indeed seem to be soulmates from their first meeting. Amanda and Max are the second couple - their marriage started out as more of a marriage of convenience. But this is a Sally Hepworth book, so it's no surprise that things aren't always what they seem with either couple. It's one of those books that's difficult to review without revealing too much. Suffice to say that it's a bit of a roller coaster, both for the characters and for the reader, with revelations sprinkled throughout. It kept me intrigued and guessing throughout.
As I said, this was my third book by Sally Hepworth and it served to confirm that I really do need to get busy and read the rest of them.
Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for providing a copy for an unbiased review.

The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth was everything I had hoped it would be. Sally Hepworth is one of my favorite go to authors. She is such a brilliant storyteller! I have come to expect good domestic suspense thrillers from her! The Soulmate checked all those boxes for me and did not disappoint. It was so hard to put this book down! I switched between the digital version of The Soulmate and the audiobook. The audiobook was very well done but I found certain parts easier to read. I really enjoyed the format Sally Hepworth chose to tell this story. It was told in alternating time lines of “Then” and “Now”from the POV of the two women protagonists.
Pippa was married to her soulmate, Gabe, and had recently bought what she considered to be her dream cottage. Gabe and Pippa had two daughters. One was their biological daughter and the second daughter they had adopted. For all intents and purposes, they appeared to be a normal and loving family. Some even envied the marriage Pippa and Gabe had. Pippa was a lawyer and acted as the bread winner while Gabe was the stay at home dad. Their cottage was located in a small coastal Australian town. Pippa even had the support of her family who lived close by. The only negative about their cottage was that it backed up to menacing cliffs that became known as “The Drop”, a destination for people that wanted to commit suicide and end their lives. Pippa was hesitant about buying the cottage when she saw the cliffs. Who would purchase a home with cliffs that were known to be used by people wanting to end their lives especially with two young daughters? Gabe had a way about him, though. He was able to convince Pippa that it would be alright. Gabe soon earned the reputation of “an angel”. He was able to talk these troubled souls away from the cliffs and prevent them from committing suicide. Gabe had saved seven lives thus far but then one evening he failed to save a victim. He watched her tumble to her death. Pippa had watched from the kitchen window. For the first time, Pippa questioned Gabe’s integrity. She had her suspicions about what really happened that evening. Had Gabe pushed the victim? Had he known the victim? Pippa really wanted to believe that Gabe tried to help the victim but then why had Gabe been standing where he was standing and holding his hands the way she observed him holding his hands? Had Pippa’s eyes been playing tricks on her?
The Soulmate was told from Pippa’s and the dead woman’s POV in the alternating time lines of “Then” and “Now”. There were so many twists in the story line. The ending was so satisfying and I did not see it coming at all. The Soulmate explored the themes of finding a soulmate in marriage, mental illness, family, trust, betrayal, secrets and lies. As usual, Sally Hepworth delivered a brilliant book once again for me. The only thing I questioned was buying the cottage with the dangerous cliffs in the backyard. As a mother, there would be no way I would have ever entertained the idea. What was Pippa thinking? I really enjoyed reading and listening to The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth and highly recommend it.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Press for allowing me to read The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Yet another fantastic book by Sally Hepworth! I absolutely loved this fast-paced read that kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. The dual perspective and multiple time-lines really had me guessing what was going to happen next and does a great job of adding to that mysterious element of the book. I thought the characters were well-rounded and all of them truly added to the story. The ending, however, did catch me a bit off guard. I didn’t necessarily hate it but it all seemed like a bit much and it wrapped up rather quickly. I think it would have been nice to have a bit more explanation to it all but it also didn’t leave me with any questions. Overall, a binge-able thriller that I definitely recommend reading!

The Soulmate by Sally Hepworth is such a great book.
I have read the other author's books and loved them, but this is the best book yet.
Loved the well written characters and plot.

This book just did not connect with me for some reason. It wasn’t great but also wasn’t horrible it just was. Unfortunately I am leaning Sally Hepworth is just not an author that I have been enamored with.
The story was intriguing but between Amber, the voice from the grave and the back and forth between times lines it was just too much. The writing when describing the characters physical features felt disingenuous and was a real turn off. The subplot of a possible affair felt like it was more of an afterthought and did not feel like it was needed. The main character had so many flaws and was meant to be portrayed as so strong but was so incredibly weak was a huge turn off for me.

I liked every tringle book I have red by Sally Hepworth, this one is not exception.
Gabe and Pippa Brought their dream home in a sleepy coastal town by the cliff. But their perfect house hides something sinister. The tall cliffs have become a popular spot for people to end their lives. Night after night Gabe comes to their rescue, literally talking them off the ledge. Until he doesn’t.
The death happed at the beginning of the story, then we follow Pippa and Amanda to uncovered the story behind the death. Love can be painful, marriage can be full of secrets and lies. what you may do to save your marriage.
This book kept me reading. it's not a scary book, but it gave me have goods bumps.
5 starts.

I'm a huge fan of Sally Hepworth and absolutely loved The Good Sister and The Younger Wife. Her style of writing is addicting and I devour her books in a day!
The Soulmate was twisty, dark, and heartbreaking! Another well-written and fast-paced psychological thriller! I enjoyed Pippa and Gabe. I also enjoyed the alternating perspectives between Pippa and Amanda.
Such a fun read! Highly recommend this thriller and all of Sally Hepworth's books!!

This book had me on the edge of my seat so much that I read the entire book in one sitting.
Pippa and Gabe live at a common suicide cliff spot. Gabe has helped many decide not to jump, but not this time. This book really gets into the baggage of Pippa, Gabe, Amanda and Max as the truth about Amanda's death unfolds. It jumps between past and present. I liked that we got a bit of 3rd party perspective of Amanda's view of current events from the grave.
I liked the pace and attention to details in each character's life. This gave the appropriate amount of character depth mixed with a comprehensive plot. This book takes you to the edge of the cliff and has you there until the very end.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for providing me a copy of this ARC for my honest review.

Enjoyed this, but didn't fully come together for me. Started off strong and with solid suspense but kind of petered out towards the end. I didn't really enjoy the twists, and none of the characters were very likable.

Received as an ARC. Thank you to Sally Hepworth and the publishers.
This book was a fast-paced read full of twists and turns. However, some of the twists, especially near the end, felt contrived. If they had not existed, this would have been a 5 star read for me. I am also upset that no one in this book loses at the end. The ending felt too neatly wrapped up, rather than messy in the way it should have been.

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me wanted to read it and I looked forward to picking it up. I would have given 5 stars but the twist at the end wasn’t a wow factor for me.

I am so embarrassingly behind on my galleys that I went ahead and purchased the audio of this one and swapped back and forth. I loved them both! A twisty, fast-paced read. I particularly loved how the The Spot was described. It had me stresssed!

A mysterious thriller with dual POV's and Now and Then.
Pippa and Gabe have found their family, themselves and 2 young children, their dream home with a dream view! It's a cute and cozy cottage near the cliff above the rocky and wave crashing ocean below. They learn the path behind their house has what's called "the Drop", a jumping point for suicide. Gabe has a talent with his soothing voice and demeanor words to change their minds. Until one day a woman jumped, or did Pippa just see Gabe, with arms stretched out push her? But he wouldn't do that or is she wrong?
It's declared a suicide, but this whole thing is still eating at Pippa. She then reads the story in the newspaper, sees her name, and pieces start falling into pieces. This involves secrets, betrayals, and twists for the remainder of the book. It did keep me on my toes making it hard to put down.
Thank you St. Martins Press for allowing me to read this through NetGalley.
