Sally does it again! I think my first audible gasp occurred within the first 50 pages which is unusual. The twists kept coming, yet never felt overpowering. The puzzle fit together perfectly. Without giving any spoilers, the approach to mental health was handled immaculately. I truly can’t think of anything I’d change about this story or how it was told.

This addictive, twisty mystery grabbed me right away! The main characters, Pippa and her husband Gabe, and Amanda and her husband, Max, are fully convincing and fascinating, as bit by bit more is revealed about each. The short chapters alternate between the viewpoints of Pippa and Amanda. We see the same events from each woman's perspective, the timelines switching between past and present, before and after Amanda's death. These alternating perspectives and timelines increase the suspense about what really happened when Amanda fell to her death from the cliff near Gabe and Pippa's cottage. What led up to the tragedy? Was it an accident? Did she jump? Or could she have been pushed by Gabe, the only witness to her death? What are the relationships between the four, and what bearing do they have on the event? The portions that take place during the present time period are written in the present tense and the past happenings in the past tense. This device helps the reader keep track of the various threads leading to the story's climax and enhances the tension as the truth is revealed in increments. The chapters are short, moving the story forward at a good pace; the suspense never flags. The Soulmate explores the question of whether we can ever really know another human being, even those closest to us, and this theme is pursued to a chilling, yet satisfying conclusion.

After several unsucessful attempts at finding their dream home, Pippa and Gabe have finally found it. It’s a beautiful cliffside home with a lovely view and it’s close to the beach — perfect for Gabe’s surfing expeditions. Unbeknownst to them, however, is that their latest home has a reputation. A reputation for being the most popular stage for people to end their lives.

But Gabe has the uncanny ability to talk would-be suicides into walking away from the deadly deed. And Gabe’s reputation as a savior resounds in the village where they live. Then one day, Gabe encounters his first unsucessful attempt at thwarting a jumper.

As with any death in the area, investigators are called to the scene to rule out homicide. As the investigation moves forward, Pippa learns that Gabe knew the victim. Pippa then wonders what other secrets has Gabe been hiding? But, Pippa has secrets of her own as well.

The Soulmate isn’t anything like the author’s prior novels. I found it somewhat slow moving and lacking the mystery and suspense that I’m used to. I probably expected a lot more. Especially since I was so impressed with her other novels.

The story unfolds through multiple points of view through past and present timelines. And as each perspective is told, the plot is revealed in layers, like an onion. Each layer uncovers new details and secrets. Except for one flaw, the story would have been a page turner. But an early reveal would have stopped the story dead in its tracks.

I didn’t care too much for the characters, except for maybe Gabe’s boss’ wife, Amanda. Amanda’s rendition of the events really made the story complete. The other players such as Gabe and Pippa irritated me. Gabe was neurotic and Pippa just enabled his behavior. The rest of the cast were pretty generic.

I don’t consider The Soulmate Hepworth’s best, but I’m not ruling out any of her future offerings. The Soulmate still rates up there with 3.5 stars rounded up.

Sometimes life is like living on a cliff. You feel like you are going to fall off the side all the time. Gabe and Pippa live in a dream home but is attached to cliffs that have become a popular spot for people to end their lives. When they witness a woman doing just that, after Gabe tries to come to the rescue as he has many times in the past months. When Pippa finds that they are connected to the woman that fell off the cliff, she starts to wonder she truly knows the husband she thought was her soulmate. But do any of really know the person we love and the secrets they guard.

I received an audio ARC via NetGalley for an honest review*

This domestic thriller had me hooked from the get-go. Sally Hepworth really gets you into the story with the complex characters and twisty plot in The Soulmate.

Gabe and Pippa bought a home near a well-known suicide jump on picturesque cliffs. Over the years, Gabe has talked down 7 would-be jumpers. But The Soulmate begins when Gabe isn’t able to save a recent jumper, and Pippa can’t be sure what she really saw. Soon she’s questioning everything - can she really trust Gabe? I thought it was SO well done when we dragged Pippa into the mud! Nobody’s hands were clean and that was fantastic.

The Soulmate closed with a few little twists that I really enjoyed and didn’t see coming! Fantastic 👏🏻👏🏻

First off I want to thank @netgalley & @stmartinspress & @macmillanaudio for my free ARC & ALC in exchange for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this one up until nearing the end. It was my first Hepworth book, it won't be my last, but this ended being just an okay read for me.

Keep in mind this is more of a family drama, which I think is why it might have fallen flat for me I was expecting more. The atmosphere was great I loved the suicide cliff aspect. Pippa the FMC is pretty annoying to be honest, she is way too naive and forgiving which is almost unrealistic. I didn't like how mental illness was treated in this book. They also depended a lot on Gabe's good looks to excuse all the wrongdoings, which I didn't enjoy.

I did not enjoy the ending, I was expecting a more thrilling and twisty ending, which left me feeling underwhelmed.

Sally Hepworth does it again! A propulsive page turner. I love books told through different perspectives and timelines. The book grabbed my attention from the start and I had a hard time putting it down. In typical Hepworth fashion she seamlessly weaves together a story that keeps you guessing.
Thank you to Netgalley for the advance copy!

3.75 ish. I always enjoy Sally Hepworth’s books. They tend to be more of a domestic drama/mystery than a thriller. Told in alternating points of view from Pippa and Amanda in a nonlinear timeline, this was super fast and entertaining. Definitely a few twists I didn’t expect. It is a fun book that even though suicide is a central topic it wasn’t that dark. As with most books in this genre there’s some reality to suspend but I liked it!

Suicide, infidelity, mental illness, lgbt, ADHD, vacine, homicide, divorce, two POVs, past and present.

I didn’t like it. It was predictable, slow, I didn’t connect with most of the characters and it didn’t make me want to read more like her previous book did. I do like the author’s writing style and there was some parts of the book that was engaging and some twists that were cool but overall this book wasn’t for me. I didn’t want this to be my first DNF of the year so I read it all. The twist at end about Matt and Gabe was the best part. I received a free digital copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

Sally Hepworth has quickly become one of my favorite authors and this book really solidified that. The story is carefully crafted, then takes several unexpected (but wildly entertaining) twists and turns. As I listened to the audio, I found myself gasping a time or two. Absolutely unputdownable!

I knew this was going to be another great read by Author Sally Hepworth and she did not disappoint! Pippa and Gabe Gerard move to a fabulous home high on a cliff in Australia along with their two young daughters, Freya and Asha. Pippa is a lawyer specializing in wills and estates while Gabe left a high paying job rather suddenly to be a stay-at-home dad. That is a twist in itself to go along with all the other twists in this page-turning book that keep me reading well into the night.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC of this very unique story that grabbed me from the start.

Another enjoyable read from Sally Hepworth! The story focuses on what is really going on with two marriages: Pippa and Gabe, and Amanda and Max. As the story progresses, the reader does not really know what to think about any of these characters because each of them has secrets — and all of them are somehow related! Told in different POVs and from different points in time, the novel has plenty of twists and turns to keep you reading and flipping pages. . . as well as a very fitting ending!

Sally did not disappoint👏🏼👏🏼

This story follows married couple, Gabe and Pippa. They seem like such a well-balanced, put together couple raising two daughters, but are they? Their family lives next to a cliff. Gabe has saved many people from taking their last leap of life, until one day he isn’t so lucky. The victim isn’t some ordinary woman. This wasn’t a suicidal stranger, as we come to realize. 𝒯𝒽ℯ 𝒮ℴ𝓊𝓁𝓂𝒶𝓉ℯ had such a great plot, I was hooked the entire time! I had no idea who to trust.

One issue I had is that the “twist” at the end wasn’t as twisty as I thought it would be. The ending seemed to be wrapped up in a pretty package, with no shock factor. However, I feel that the plot (and all the twists throughout the story) makes up for this.

The Soulmate was a fun read about some not so fun relationships! These women are amazing and definitely find themselves in some toxic situations! I really loved this book and how it ended!

This book definitely held my interest. Especially the connection between Amanda and Gabe. Was it just an affair they discussed?
Pippa and Gabe bought a gorgeous house - unbeknownst to them, with a cliff known for suicides. Gabe works hard to help those who come to the cliff - talking to them, lending them hope. He even has an article written in the paper.
A woman comes to cliff - stammering her husband had an affair. Gabe tries to help - though Pippa isn't quite convinced. They call the police - and Pippa's life unravels.
Great twists and surprises. An enjoyable read.

Overall a great read. Heavy on the infidelity and mental illness with lots of twists! Everything is not always as they seem. Living at the house on the cliff where people come to end their lives is crazy. Having a husband who is able to talk them down seems great until one day it isn't. Was it suicide or something else?

This is exactly the type of book that I LOVE! The chapters were nice and short and left me wanting to read more and figure out what was happening. I flew through this one! I loved each twist and I thought the ending was so good. This isn’t a big part of the book at all but I really loved when Pippa was working with the Peterson’s and their little argument. So funny! I highly recommend this book!

Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC I’m exchange for my honest review.

The Soulmate is a psychological thriller built around relationship drama. It is told from the POV of 2 women - Pippa, married to Gabe; and Amanda, married to Max. Both couples were swept up in the romance of their initial relationship, only to discover some problems later. There were some good twists about how these couples are linked together as the story goes back and forth between past and present.

I always enjoy a good domestic suspense that keeps you guessing and entertained. This is what happens when people fall hopelessly in love with their "soulmate" and before long the cracks start to emerge... The secrets are slowly revealed and unexpected.

This story takes a look at marriage and murder and just what individual are willing to compromise for their marriage. We read the story from the perspective of Pippa who is happily marriage to her husband Gabe. They recently moved to a cliff town, known for individuals jumping to their death. They have experienced many people jumping as the cliff is basically in their backyard. We also get the perspective from Amanda, the individual who Gabe goes to try and talk down from jumping for the cliff. The more we learn about each women, the deeper the story and secrets go.

This book was like unrolling a carpet and secrets coming out left and right. The more you read of the story the more you learn about Pippa and Amanda and their marriages and who they are. I was hooked from the first chapter and read this book in 2 sittings because I could not put it down. I was constantly left guessing on what was gonna happen even though it seem predictable. Sally Hepworth is quickly becoming an author I love to read and this story was something I would recommend to many!
