Thank you for the chance to read this book I did like the story. It wasn’t one of my top spooky rims for 2022 but I really did like the book and I would recommend it.

Thank you NetGalley and the author @casskaywrites for a copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first ever witchy read! I have never dappled into the genre and didn't have much of an interest, so I was pleasantly surprised with how much I liked this book. The characters were likeable and the plot was interesting. The writing is very good and pulls you in immediately. I thought it was a good book, especially if you like paranormal and witchy themes.

The way I absolutely LOVED this book. I'm honestly going to get a physical copy because it was almost like a comfort book for me.

I LOVED the atmosphere Cass created, and all the characters were fully developed. And don't get me even started on my absolute LOVE for the absolute *witch* of a grandmother ghost. Obsessed.

Thank you so much Netgalley & Cass Kay for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for giving me a copy of this book!
Characters: I think the characters are interesting. I liked this dynamic of having Vianna a legacy Witch and Dee who isn't. It tied into a lot of the themes of the book. Grayson was a fun addition.

Atmosphere: Witchy book set in Salem? Yes please! Everything happened in this one spot where the coven lives and I think it really suited the vibe.

Writing: Writing was good.

Plot: the story was something we have seen before: the main character wanting to move on from their family legacy but gets dragged back. There were some different things going on though. It does feel like this might turn into a series, and based off of the ending, I would be interested in continuing.

Intrigue: I was intrigued to see how the main villain would fit into this.

Logic: I thought it was logical within its own rules.

Enjoyment: I enjoyed this book quite a bit and would continue if this was a series! 4/5 stars!

I loved this book. The diverse characters, mystery and Gianna's strength kept me enthralled. This is the first in an exciting new series. Eat your heart out Mayfair Witches, there's a new witch and coven in town.

This debut is absolutely stunning! Witches, Murder, mayhem.. the writing is wonderful. Kay does a spectacular job of building her own little world in Salem. This is a must read for any witchy story lover!

I was surprised how much I enjoyed this first in a series fiction about hostile witch families in Salem, contending for territory and power. Vianna returns to her home after her mother’s death determines to flip her house — but discovers that her former best friend haunts her house and apparently met a grisly end there. She needs answers and needs to sell the house, but wouldn’t you know it? Obstacles magically arise from every quarter. I enjoyed this fast-paced story of Vianna literally and figuratively facing her demons and would absolutely read the next book in this series.

I received a complimentary copy of a digital arc from the publisher and NetGalley in exchange for this honest review.

This was a slow to start one for me but once it got going, I enjoyed it. Loved the sassy demon house and the friendship between Vianna and Dee. I'm curious to see where the next one will go!

Wonderful introduction into a world of witches and witchcraft and everything that goes with it. It might not be what you expect! Cass Kay wrote a lovely book that makes you like the characters, even sympathy fo the ones you're not supposed. You get to get to know the characters along the lines of them getting to know themselves, what even is the legacy of a legacy witch, dive in and find out

Vianna was an enjoyable character to read. I also like the complexity of the witches - we've had good witches for too long! Shuck, Vianna's familiar who also happens to be her house was an inventive concept, too. Looking forward to the next installment!

I was really excited for this book, especially right around Halloween season. The description has everything I love in a witchy book, and I couldn’t wait to get started. The world building and character development are great, but overall I think I’m left giving it a 3.5 rounded up because somewhere along the way the plot fell a little short for me. There was so much potential but it took a while to build to climax and then resolved too quickly after that and I was just left wanting a bit more to it. I would recommend this book as a good quick ya story, and would love to see more from this author because the writing is engaging and entertaining, just needs a little more meat on the bones, so to speak.

I liked this book so much. It was a fun read.

The Main Protagonist - Vianna is more than just a total mess... She's loyal, resilient, and has a whack sense of humor. I loved her quick character arc through the book.

My favourite part of the book was the Dog/House Demon Familiar - Shuck... And the relationship that forms between him and Vianna... I also liked Dee and her friendship with Vianna...

I'm glad there's going to be more Legacy Witches books... Can't wait!

Holy S***! Phenomenal debut alert ‼️

I don’t know where to begin with- this book was all things witchy, crazy and enchanting. Went into this with average expectations since this was a self-published book and some of my last experiences with those have been pretty bad, but this book was absolutely fantastic and blew my mind off!

Vianna Roots is back in Salem to attend her mother’s funeral, a place she’s always hated because of her legacy witch status and the grotesque witchcraft her family/community practices. She comes from one of the oldest family of witches, the Roots, who are one of the four original founding covens of Salem. As a trained witch who could see ghosts, she hasn’t had a happy ‘normal’ childhood, especially because her mother was too harsh which made her fled to Boston 10 years ago. Now that she’s back, she wants to wrap up the funeral, tie her mother’s ghost to her grave, sell her ancestral house and leave Salem asap. But contrary to her plan, she gets involved with deadly witch games and politics and will now have to find her way home.

Kay’s writing is detailed and atmospheric. The Salem she paints for her readers is urban, deliciously paranormal and dangerous. She talks of the mingling of witches with the scheming political bodies in modern day Salem and how they work together to remain in power. She weaves this exemplary web of witch covens, hoodoo, ghosts and whatnot. This urban fantasy has a thrilling mystery at its centre and believe me, all the elements are well-written and is sure to surprise you. Also, there’s also queer representation which made it even better.

An extremely satisfying and addictive debut!

Thanks to Cass Kay and NetGalley for the ARC. Review to go up on Goodreads soon.

4.5/5🌟 (I’m going to be extra generous and round this up because this is a debut book).

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for giving me an e-arc of this book in return for an honest review.

This book is magical and wholesome with a bit of darkness. The characters were well developed and lovable. I could easily imagine this playing in my mind while reading it and cannot wait for book 2. I love the friendships that develops throughout the story. It is also a great story that shows no matter what you are made of, you have the choice to change how things are done in your life. Overall, a great story line with diverse characters.

This was not for me. At all. I read as much as I could, but then had to DNF. I didn’t enjoy the writing nor the characters and the plot seemed to be moving along at a snail’s pace. Do check the trigger warnings before you give this a try.

Holy cow this was a good one! I finished reading Legacy Witches by Cass Kay last night and I was so not expecting how much I would love it!

This was the perfect ending to October and a great start to November. I love all the witchy books and one that depicts a haunted demon home, dismembered body parts and witches that give you the creeps along with a man who just can’t take no for an answer.

This one is newly released and I can’t recommend this one enough!
