The first chapter of the book was quite calming to read. There was no dramatic beginning; instead, we're introduced to characters who already have an established relationship. Minami is timid with no self-confidence, whereas Kijima is the complete opposite. The first chapter mainly focuses on Minami's insecurities. I like how the author decided to approach this, allowing us to see who Minami and Kijima are as characters and how they got through their "strange" beginning of a relationship. I'm excited to see what else is in store for them.

I really enjoyed this book. And the storyline interesting to read. The characters were attention grabbing to me. I like manga like this. I can't to continue the series if there is on e

I’m definitely intrigued by this little snippet of the volume, I liked the art style and the dynamic between the two main characters however I’m not sure how I feel about the pacing. The way it flitted between past and present perhaps wasn’t the smoothest and I was a little confused at points.

I really enjoy a sweet romance, but this one gave me mixed feelings. It's one of those stories that has a manipulative love interest, and those always make me uncomfortable. Overall I'd have to say not for me.

From the first chapter this budding romance is sweet and full of promise. I am looking forward to seeing more of Kijima and Minami.

Thank you to NetGalley and Media Do International, Inc. for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

The stories in this book are slow and sweet, with a lot of exploring the character's emotions and assumptions about each other. The main story is definitely the winner and the most interesting one. The two short stories are good, but I would have preferred more time with Minami and Kijima.
Artwise, it's pretty standard for BL, with the inevitable issue that characters are sometimes hard to tell apart. Nothing major, but a pet peeve of mine.

Happy thanks to NetGalley, Media Do International, Inc., and Kobunsha Co., Ltd for the sweetly romantic read!

I read the preview of Your Treacle Affects At Night and it had such a sweet introduction to these characters. I immediately liked the mischievous Kijima and reserved Minami. After the first chapter, I wanted to know more about their relationship!

Based on what I read in this chapter, the art style, and the summary of the other stories in the manga, this is a volume I definitely plan to purchase once it's available. This first story was sweet and left me wanting to know more about the characters and how their relationship would continue to develop. Overall, a nice preview!

I can't say if I did or did not enjoy this book mainly because the story progression was a little weird. There was a few past moments intermingled with present moments with no big break in between that there were a few moments I was unsure where I was in the timeline. This was a little jarring for me since I was only able to read Chapter 1 so being confused that early not the best feeling.

Regardless I am interested to see what happens with these two characters.

I don’t often read graphic novels, but I liked the description of this one and I’m glad I gave it a chance. I’ve only read one chapter, but it seems like a it’s focusing on the budding relationship between two co-workers. I like the dynamic between the two main characters because they seem to be very different from one another. I think this will set up for some interesting obstacles for them to overcome throughout the story. I am intrigued by this book!

Many thanks to NetGalley for proving this book to me without charge. All thoughts and opinion are my own, free of outside influence.

When I first opened the chapter, I was met with a couple that was already in the throes of sex, and I will admit I have never had that experience. At this, I knew that I may want to read the whole book if it starts this way. So that is a whole positive there.
Minami and Kijima are complete opposites when they meet, but Minami does not remember that he confessed to Kijima and practically seduced him the night before. But this is not the full truth, regardless of this this leads to them becoming an odd couple. One quiet, the other a bit more outgoing.

I wish that I could read the rest of the book because this one chapter introduces a thirst of wanting more. I would not change anything about the manga. The drawing is a bit different as it reminds me the early 2000's way of drawing and the anime that came out of it.
The chapter is short and straight to the point. And it shows just enough to let readers know a bit of the background of the main characters. It's evident that they are business men. They are so many manga that have office workers but they all are great. And I expect that this one will be the same.

This was a good start to a story about two men in a relationship. There wasn't much to pull me in in the first chapter, but I did only have a snippet to read. The title was unique, and it was the reason I decided to read the work. I am giving the first chapter 2 out of five stars, but the story has promise. The reader needs to be drawn in more in the upcoming chapters.

I had the pleasure of reading this manga last month and it is so good! The two MCs really keep us engaged and this story is so good I can’t get enough of it! This definitely is one of my favorites by the mangaka.

This was surprisingly wholesome and cute. When this was suggested to me in a newsletter I was honestly surprised and a little skeptical, knowing how BL manga tends to be. To find out it's not set up in the typical, objectifying fashion (and with everyone actually an adult AND looking like one!), I was even more surprised! The relationship feels genuine and no one is forcing anyone into anything they don't want to do. This chapter has minimal explicit content, choosing instead to focus on the interpersonal aspect, which I really love. I would legitimately suggest this to someone who wanted healthy gay content in a manga series. I sincerely hope the rest of it keeps it up!

Interesting preview! It was an engaging queer story.

I really liked the dialogues between the two main characters.

I'm hoping to read the whole manga soon!

This was absolutely confusing. I don't know if it was the translation or the storytelling, but it didn't come together, which is too bad because I liked the art and the character tropes were fine.

The preview was not fabulous, I was unsure whether or not it was the first chapter. If it was, I do think it needs to be reworked because it didn’t make much sense unless this was supposed to be a short story. Could be promising but not sure until I read the whole thing. I would not buy this for my library mostly because of the more mature elements of the manga.

Who doesn’t like office romances? I know I do. However, even though I enjoy the trope it was going for, I can’t say that Your Treacle Affects at Night was all that successful in terms of holding my interest. A chaotic narrative, cold start, and confusing characters were enough to turn me off.
Normally I don’t mind a story that just drops you in, but that style of opening only functions if the narrative is strong enough to keep up and fill in the gaps. Unfortunately, Your Treacle Affects at Night didn’t take time to do that, so the reader is instead pushed to piece together what is going on based off of common story elements they might know from previous office romances, and random tidbits placed sporadically in the narrative itself. This becomes all that much more difficult when the plot is as inconsistent as this one is.
Previously I spoke about how ‘episodic’ manga can be. However, that isn’t exactly the case here. Your Treacle Affects at Night doesn’t have an episodic narrative in that the timeline is broken up, its timeline just has random gaps in it. Instead of a non-linear progression, the narrative jumps from scene to scene like a summary, not bothering to consolidate or reference the happenings between. This eliminates context. Kind of like watching film or TV clips online for something you have never actually seen. Some of these scenes make sense, other times they don’t. It’s a mixed bag, and it is very frustrating.
Personally, I wouldn’t ever recommend this manga.

Someone is trying to make his boss love him. The book was a slow burn, but ok. I wish there was more I could say about the book, but chapter 1 was not enough to write more than this.

3 stars.
