She loves the children. Fast forward twenty years, Hayley is happily married to Lars and they have their own little girl named Alice. Life is perfect until it isn't. She has never told her husband about her time in Bangkok and what happened there. Toggling between 1999 and present day, this book totally captured my interest. I could not put it down. Good development of the main character, as well as the auxiliary ones. The readers truly knew them and cared what happened to each of them. I did not see the solution of the mystery coming--the best kind of mystery to read.

This book is a 5 star read hands down. I already knew it would be because I have read all of Ruth Heald's books so far! This book had me hooked from the beginning. I could literally not put it down. It was dramatic, twisty, and has a jaw-dropping unexpected ending. Run, do not walk to get this title just be advised you might forget to do your chores or job!

The twists don't stop coming in this book. Just when you think you've worked it all out, something else comes along and shocks you. It's definitely a rollercoaster and a great read.

I apologize in advance but I didn't like this too much.

I honestly usually don't mind the past present shift but here I just got annoyed. And I don't like being annoyed when I read so bummer.

Ruth Heald has done it again. She's written a wonderful psychological thriller again with so many twists and turns that you won't be able to put it down.
In London Suburbs, Hayley and her Sweedish husband are struggling financially while taking care of their young daughter, Alice. One day a nanny appeared at their door and she brings back many memories from which Hayley is running and which made her life a nightmare.
Back in 1999, Hayley went to abroad for the first time, she started doing a live in nanny job for a wealthy couple in Thailand where she was taking care of their two young girls and a newly born daughter, Chloe who one day went missing and then all the suspicion fell on Hayley, the nanny.
This story is told between 1999 and present day and the job is done well by the author.
It was an enjoyable read. I think everyone should read it.

Ruth Heald's book The Nanny is edgy and suspenseful. There are many deceptions, and lies in it that will leave readers scratching their heads. To fully enjoy the book you must suspend belief and roll with the juicy plot. Told in two timelines, it slowly unravels into a shocking and unexpected conclusion.

The Nanny by Ruth Herald is interesting and intriguing. Ruth Herald holds your attention with several game-changing plot twists. It's the ideal novel to kick off the fall season.

I love this author s books and was not disappointed from the start very gripping and addictive on the 5th may 1999 a young baby Chloe goes missing in Bangkok. Hayley was the Nanny to Chloe and her two half-sister s Emily and Eva. Hayley was back packing with her two friends. she and her friend s where staying at a hostel. and her and her friends purses where taken. now with no money. Hayley needs a job .and she starts working for David and Julie. but things go terribly wrong and Hayley flees Thailand. now in present day she is married and has a daughter. but one of her students want to write a book about what happened to Chloe and he wont take no for an answer .her husband's business is struggling and with her mum living with them and has dementia they need the money so they take in a lodger Johanna. but things start happening and Hayley can not control all this its just brilliant secrets lies and decit

Hayley is an anxious mom and rightfully so when her past comes knocking at her door and her secrets begin to unravel "She'd do anything to keep her family safe and happy, but sometimes it felt impossible."
The book is told from Hayley's point of view, going from past to present seamlessly. The characters were realistic and having been an au pair myself when I was also 19 like Hayley I could understand her frustration and lonliness living in a foreign country. I really enjoyed this fast paced storyline with lots of twists and surprises, that kept me hooked to the end. This is the first book I have read by Ruth Heald but it certainly won't be the last.

I couldn’t put this down! I’m so glad I discovered this author, I will definitely be reading more of her books

This is my first Ruth Heald book and I can honestly say I could not put this down it was gripping and it goes between present day in London and back to the past in Thailand 1999. This book has a cleverly thought out plot and kept me intrigued throughout until the last chapter. This book has made me add two more of Ruth's books to my Amazon wish list.

This novel really captured my attention right from the beginning. I found it engaging and I was fully invested in the story and the characters.
Even though it was a dual, complex timeline, it was so well written that it was easy to follow. I’ll definitely be recommending this one.

I really like this author, so was very excited to get this title. I did enjoy it, thought not as much as the Heald's other work. Still, it was another strong read, complex characters in complex situations. Great sense of place with Thailand, well written as always.

This was a fast-paced, dual timeline domestic thriller. The modern storyline is set in the suburbs of London, following Hayley, a university administrator. Hayley and her Swedish businessman husband, are struggling financially, while raising their young daughter, Alice, and caring for Hayley’s mother, whose dementia is rapidly worsening. Taking in a Swedish university student helps to ease some of their financial woes.

A past storyline follows nineteen-year-old Hayley, who travels abroad for the first time on her gap year to Bangkok. Quickly in over her head financially, she’s forced to take a job as a live-in nanny to a well-off but troubled expat couple. Hayley cares for their two young girls and newborn daughter, Chloe. Hayley’s life changes forever when Chloe goes missing and initial suspicions are focused on the young and inexperienced nanny.

This novel unfurls at a brisk pace as it weaves between present and past, London and the Thai capital, as the story and Hayley’s past are slowly revealed. An enjoyable page-turner, with strong character development, and which also briefly touches upon many of the problematic aspects of expat life.

Years ago Hayley worked as a Nanny in Thailand to fund her trip when her purse was stolen. Whilst there the baby she was caring for, Chloe, went missing and she was investigated by the police. Chloe was never found. Present day and Hayley is married and has a daughter Alice. Her husband runs his own business and things are tight so to help they decide to take in a lodger-Johanna. Hayley thinks she recognises her but brushes it off as this has happened before. Is the lodger who Hayley thinks she is and if so why appear now?
This is told in two timelines- one in 1999 when Hayley was in Thailand and the other is present day. A book that has a wonderful tension and keeps the pages turning so very easily. A plot which thickens and just as you think you have your finger on something- pop! and there's a twist. A cleverly thought out plot line, crafted well and one that kept me in its grasp to the very end. A highly enjoyable read.

A fast-paced suspense filled thrill-ride of a mystery. Just when you think the story is going to zig, it zags. With a MC that's barely tolerable with their half-truths, justifications for more than minor indiscretions, you end up understanding them on some level. Other supporting characters are truly wretched, you question why the MC doesn't do something about them until a major lie/coverup is revealed.

Slow at times, you'll keep reading, Predictable at times? Maybe. Worth it? Yes.

Spell blinding thriller that keeps the reader guessing in an unexpected labyrinth of detailed plot and characterization. I absolutely was enthralled.

I loved this book and raced through it, I enjoyed the narrative between Thailand and England and the fast paced writing. There were plenty of twists throughout that kept me guessing what would happen next.
It’s the perfect beach read and one that I’d strongly recommend.

Finished this one last night and it was amazing!!! It will be released in September. I read the first 20% of it Monday night and finished the rest of it at 2am last night (this morning). I was completely sucked into this book. So many little twists and information that you slowly learn. I couldn't put it down. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
