Even though I enjoyed 'The Thief of Blackfriars Lane', it wasn't the book that I was expecting. This story focused more on the relationship between Kit and Jackson than the mysteries. I also didn't like that on the verge of their marriage, their relationship was being torn apart by pride and stubbornness. Due to that, it's a slower paced story. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher. This is my honest and voluntarily given review.

You cannot right all the wrongs in this world, my girl - a statement that, for Kit, leads right into this one - maybe she was a bit rash sometimes. Be ready to laugh, to want to tear your hair out and give Kit a good shake. But then, you might want to give Jackson one as well. What to do with two wonderful souls who will not listen long enough to hear the other one speak!

A wedding in the offing, the adventure continues in 1885 on Blackfriars Lane in Victorian London. There are endless plot twists, lots of intrigue and unexpected surprises and words once spoken that cannot be taken back again. Will our wonderful characters stop their investigations long enough to learn to really trust each other, one of the cornerstones on which every good marriage should be built?

This early copy was received through Barbour Publishing and NetGalley. These thoughts and impressions are my own and were in no way solicited.

Kit and Jackson are very excited for their upcoming wedding, working as a team to solve mysteries and crimes. But there is trouble in paradise when Kit's choices lead her to miss their wedding. With an unknown skeleton and someone doggedly trying to kill Jackson, the mysteries are stacking up, but Kit's relationship with Jackson seems over and impossible to salvage.

I really enjoyed that this book delved more deeply into the problems that face a marriage after the relationship is established. So many books in this genre feature people who are perfect little Christians, constantly getting things right, and the stories end with engagement or a wedding. Kit and Jackson feel like real people with real issues. It isn't all rainbows and sunshine once they are in love, and I appreciate that glimpse of realism within the story. It is still ultimately a romance so all the mysteries are solved nicely and tidily, but the journey is fun.

Michelle Griep has written an entertaining sequel to her previous novel, The Thief of Blackfriars Lane. I was absolutely thrilled to continue the story of Kit and Jackson. And Griep did not disappoint. With constant action, twists, turns, and a double mystery, this book keeps the pages turning from start to finish. I greatly enjoyed the lively characters, the tension of the intrigue, and the quest to unearth truth at all costs. Readers will surely fall in love with this sequel and surely be anxious for more!

I received this book from Netgalley. All opinions are my own.

I absolutely loved The Thief of Blackfriars Lane and this was great too. It was fun to have a continuing story line and learn a little more about Kit and Jackson's backgrounds. There's lots of adventure and a great romance. I enjoyed it a lot and would love to see another book in this series to have more adventures with Kit and Jackson!

If you like a clean romance this will fit the bill for you, but please read The Thief of Blackfriars Lane first!

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review. All opinions are my own.

An absolute delight, as always! Michelle Griep never disappoints, except when a book is over and you wish you had more time with her characters. This latest story fixes that! Kit and Jackson were absolutely characters I wanted to know more about and spend more time with after the first book, and I was so excited to see a sequel.
Their story is a love ahead of its time with Kit's independent spirit and Jackson's love for her unusual qualities. But will they make it to the altar?? Find out if their love can survive multiple cases as they fight to make it to their wedding day. Don't miss this one!

Loved every minute of this highly entertaining story by the supremely talented author Michelle Griep. Her writing is spot on for the time period and I thorougly enjoyed the expressions: Hounds a'fire! You sir, are incorrigible! Did being a bride mean she'd turn into a softhearted nimby-namby? What a load of balderdash. Gads! He had been right all along. Kit would be the death of him. Scads! Pennies to pounds...

Oh it was fun to be back with Kit Turner & Jackson Forge. "Kit Turner could talk a bandy-legged pirate into donning a white robe and joining a cathedral choir, such was her silver tongue-just one of the many reasons he admired the fiery woman."

I love how Kit loves Jackson's injured brother, she is absolutely dear with him.

So many twists and turns in this story, with mistakes and misunderstandings between the betrothed couple, and someone trying to kill them, this action packed love story keeps the reader charmed, guessing and hoping for a happy ending.

I highly recommend this charming adventure! Thank you to the author and publisher for allowing me to read an early copy. All opinions are my own.

What an amazing tale! I did not want to put this book down.
Follow wild cat Kit through the streets of London for a crazy ride. The descriptions of how life was for the poorest is London will grip your heart. But justice must be served. Jackson, Kit’s fiancé, despairs of protecting the women he loves.
This is a must read.

Kit and Jackson are together again, solving mysteries. But, this time it is more of a roller coaster as their broken relationship needs time to heal and each one them has to let go of their fears and insecurities to trust God that all things are going to work out.

There were plenty of suspicious characters, red herrings, dangerous situations, and villains to keep me turning the pages. I was happy to see the return of several characters from The Thief of Blackfriar’s Lane and getting to know James, Jackson’s sweet and trusting brother. I really enjoyed the story and recommend the story of this dynamic crime-fighting duo. I hope there are more books to come!

Jackson and Kit are about to be married. But then, fate has something else in store. New cases, unexpected suspects, and a romp in the bowels of London leave Jackson and Kit on a future they didn't expect.

The Bride of Black friars Lane continues the series in the same fasion as the first book. The main characters are anything but usual. Taking chances, defying the odds, and being sleuths in unusual places makes for a very interesting storyline.

The descriptions of the city, characters, and time period felt authentic. Very well researched historical information. The ending was surprising as was other events that kept me on the edge of my seat. With a Michelle Griep novel you will always be entertained. Highly recommended.

I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and willingly choose to review it.

This is a sequence of a story wich started in another book and I had no idea about this fact when I requested it, so the reading delayed a bit my imersion . However, it's not a bad story, on the contrary. It has a lot of thoughts and it brought me delightful moments while reading it. I liked very much.

In this fast paced sequel, Michelle Griep sweeps readers back to 1885 London. From beginning to end this story takes the reader on adventure with crimes to solve, murderers to hunt down, a wedding to make, and a past history to overcome. Jackson and Kit have made an unlikely friendship blossom into a heart warming romance, with a wedding just around the corner. But before that can happen, Kit wants justice as a wedding gift for her new detective husband. What starts as a hunt for the men who maimed her soon to be brother in law turns into a deadly search for a murderer. A murderer who may have a link to Kit's past.. As these cases move forward, can Jackson and Kit learn to truly trust each other? Is Kit's hard fought for independence going to push all she loves away as she singly focuses on what she wants, ignoring all others in her quest for justice? Learning to trust God and His plan may be the hardest journey to face yet.
This story pulled me in front the start with witty and relatable characters, getting to know even more about them in this thrilling sequel. I got to rejoin old friends as they reach the next chapter of their lives, hopefully together. The hours quickly flew by as I was immersed into the hunt for answers for both the crimes and their personal turmoil. This is a hard to put down, pull you in story that is well worth the late nights soon to come. Michelle Griep is one of the top historical authors on my pile. I am already looking forward to her next book and the trip it will take me on! I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in the review are completely my own.

Jackson's wedding day is coming up fast, but there are still cases to work - and danger to evade. But somehow, now that she's almost his, the characteristics of Kit that used to attract him now also irritate and even scare him. Kit loves Jackson but is coming to fear what marriage to him might mean - particularly the loss of the freedom she holds dear in life. Secrets on both sides don't help things either. But as they work, together and separately, to bring justice to Blackfriars, it becomes clear that there's someone in the background who doesn't want to be found out, and will do anything to avoid it, including murder. Can they evade his attempts and bring him to justice? And will they be able to work out and overcome their differences to have the marriage they longed for before fear got in the way?

I enjoyed the first book in the series and watching two such dissimilar characters get together - and this was the perfect follow-on, showing that life doesn't suddenly get easy because you're engaged. Now I have to admit that I'm really hoping for a third book post-marriage! However, I should note that I think this could be read perfectly well as a standalone story, though book 1 is so good you shouldn't miss it. I think one of the things I particularly liked about this was the way that those around Jackson and Kit encouraged them to work out their differences - and I loved the thought-provoking advice that Kit is given at one point: pride preserves you, humility preserves your marriage. Add in the unusual setting and the intriguing mystery they're trying to solve, and it makes a great story. I appreciated the way that, though the threads of the mystery were spread through the story, they only gradually began to be expertly woven together towards the end - it felt realistic (though there was one aspect I felt should have been followed up earlier...) and allowed Jackson and Kit to be the focus for a while rather than the mystery they were trying to solve. Oh, and don't forget the delightful ending! All in all, a great story, inspiring and enjoyable with a mix of romance, history and suspense. Recommended.

Note that I received a complimentary copy of the book from NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review and this is my considered opinion of the book.

Returning to Victorian England in Michelle Griep's much anticipated sequel to The Thief of Blackfriars Lane, readers will find their visit to Blackfriars Lane and its underworld an adventure. With the street smarts of Dickens' Artful Dodger, Griep's heroine Kit is a charming, stubborn, headstrong young woman. The playful banter between Kit and Jackson as well as the delightfully eclectic cast of characters will keep readers entertained.
Working seemingly unrelated cases create a break of trust between the two and one wonders how they will resolve their differences by the end of the story. With expert pacing, Griep skillfully entwines a strong theme of forgiveness and hope in the exciting conclusion. An ideal blend of romance and mystery abound!

4.5⭐Multi-layered plot, with suspense and mystery, action-packed, Michelle Griep brings to life the London of old in pristine color and makes you feel as though you're walking down the cobblestone streets right alongside Kit.

Kit and Jackson works well together, but they also come from different worlds, how these two could possibly reconcile their differences? , Things grow even more complicated when Jackson is assigned to a case that may be connected to Kit’s past, and he has promised to keep Kit out of it.

This novel pushes back reminding us of redemption and reconciliation. I enjoyed the Christian addition to the story. This is a clean fun read, with characters you will not soon forget. Full of adventure with lots of twists and turns. If you enjoy mystery, suspense, and hope in the brokenness, I think you'll like this one. I highly recommend it!

This book works as a standalone read, but I recommend you read The Thief of Blackfriars Lane because it will give you further insight into the characters.

Most often, romance novels end with a hint of the upcoming “happily ever after,” but we all know the story doesn’t really end there, nor is happily ever after guaranteed. So I was incredibly excited when Michelle Griep announced this sequel to The Thief of Blackfriars Lane, with more adventures—and mishaps—featuring Kit and Jackson! As in the first book, these two captured my heart. Some parts were a bit slow, but Griep’s writing never disappoints. I highly recommend her books! 4/5 stars

Heart-stopping, romantic and full of fun are not even close to describing the adventure awaiting you when you delve into The Bride of Blackfriars Lane by Michelle Griep. While not a part of a series, there is a first book called The Thief of Blackfriars Lane. I insist you read it first so that you can enjoy the chemistry of Kit Turner and Jackson Forge a bit longer. You will be hard-pressed to put either book down.

Once again, Kit is doing what Kit does best and pokes her nose in where she shouldn't. Despite her agreement with Jackson not to keep secrets from him, she ends up doing a little snooping (on her wedding day, of all things!) and, by doing so, ruins what could have been the best day of her life.

Without giving anything away, I will say that what Kit did, resulted in almost destroying her relationship with Jackson. Hang on to your hats because Griep catapults you into the dark past of Victorian London with witty dialogue, a brisk pace, and so vividly rendered that I swear I could smell the sewage. This is a book you will not be able to put down. With a wonderful faith theme running throughout, I guarantee you will love this book!

Kit and Jackson are back!

This sequel had me in knots until the end, wondering how the brokenness between the two of them would resolve. Lots of tension. Lots of honest hurt. But there's forgiveness, there's grace and there's change, by the grace of God. In contrast to our cancel culture, this novel pushes back reminding us of redemption and reconciliation.

If you enjoy mystery, suspense and hope in brokenness, I think you'll like this one.
