This is SO FUN. I mean, okay, it kicks off with our main character about to get murdered by a serial killer, but it was somehow lighthearted? Once she gets reluctantly rescued (not a spoiler) we head to the seediest side of Vegas to meet a cast of neon-colorful characters. Things ramp up when our protagonist is targeted by a NEW serial killer while she's busy scamming people, trying to make friends, and basically just trying to keep her head. All our main characters (even the murdery ones) are spunky, intelligent, intriguing, messy, and/or badass.
I had no idea I needed this book in my life. This dark comedy gets an easy five stars from me.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for providing a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Just what I needed. This is a “fun” read about chasing a serial killer. I loved Amber’s humor and the dialogue. If you like Stephanie Plum you’ll love the ladies in Killing Me.

Multiple serial killers. Quirky characters. Twisty plot. This thriller kept my interest throughout, and the characters were weirdly intriguing. My biggest issue with this read was that there was almost too much going on–it seemed to be trying too hard to be different. Like it didn’t know exactly what it wanted to be. Sometimes light-hearted and funny and downright tragic at others. It was hard to know how to feel…and maybe that unsettling sense was what made it so engaging.
Recounting the plot sounds almost silly: the protagonist Amber is rescued from a serial killer at the last moment by a masked avenger only to be stalked by an entirely different serial killer for the rest of the book. Along the way, a cast of mostly endearing secondary characters help Amber stay alive through a series of often implausible events. The last twists and turns are largely foreseeable, but that doesn’t detract from the mostly exhilarating ride. At the end, I was left a bit breathless and, frankly, puzzled.
Thank you to Penguin Group Putnam and Netgalley for the ARC.

Amber is shocked when she is abducted by a serial killer. She is even more shocked when she is rescued by a mysterious woman. While they agree to walk away and never speak again, things get more complicated for Amber when the FBI show up to investigate. She is dodging a sketchy past and doesn't want to risk getting caught. So she decides to go on the run. She ends up in Las Vegas in a somewhat seedy motel. Soon she learns though that there is another killer in Vegas and now she is in the middle of his crosshairs.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book! The first ¼ had some legit laugh out loud moments and lots of humor. While I was disappointed there wasn't as much of that in the rest of the book, it still was a book that kept me guessing and was full of twists and turns. It was like a thriller with a lighter vibe, which I enjoyed!
I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I LOVED this book! We start off with the hilariously odd Pokémon killer, and then find ourselves in a deeper story of a woman who hunts serial killers. Unlikely friendships form as we are led through an intense scramble of survival and reclaiming life. It's snarky and funny with moments of absolute terror. If you're looking for a fun thriller, this is a great choice!

This was a hoot. A uniquely entertaining blend of thriller and comedy. I loved every minute of it!

This book has everything I like thriller and humor ! Very entertaining and I just loved the characters ! It has me hooked from the first chapter !

I loved this book! I loved the plot, I loved the characters, the settings and the pacing. And this book is funny! I really enjoyed Amber as a main character. She wasn't perfect and knew it. She was cool but she didn't take herself too seriously. I also appreciated how a relationship of hers ended, it felt true to real life. I really loved that the book was set in Vegas. Because of the show, Hacks, it was easy for me to picture Amber, Grace and Dot running around the glamourous town.
I'm excited for this book to come out and I'm excited to read more from this author.

On the run from surviving a serial killer, Amber Jameson must have the worst luck, because now she’s being hunted by another one. She’s always an outsider, but in Las Vegas, she finds her tribe— after all, she is a con artist herself.
At times this book had me cackling, while at others I was uneasy. Amber’s internal monologue is funny, as are her exchanges throughout the book.
Perspective: first person, mostly fixed to Amber
I thought the ending was a little over the top, but otherwise a good book and a fun read! Definitely makes me want to read Michelle Gagnon’s other works.
Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Putnam for my advanced copy of this book. All opinions shared are my own.

Killing Me by Michelle Gagnon is definitely a one night read. If you love thrillers and laughing look no further. The plot is well developed . The characters have everything you need to make you love or hate them. You will be on the edge of your seat waiting for the story to unfold. Normally a thriller is just intense but Gagnon knows how to make Killing me have light but funny moments that don't take away from the main plot. 10/10.

To paraphrase the late, great Bette Davis, “Fasten your seatbelts, it’s going to be a bumpy night.” This book is indeed a bumpy ride, right from the first chapter, you get the momentum of the storyline and it doesn’t let up for a moment. Amber Jamison, get kidnapped and is about to become the latest victim of a serial killer called the Pikachu Killer. When she is saved by a cattle prod wheeling woman, and not just any woman but a woman who hunts down serial killers, things take a turn for the worse. Surviving a serial killer was just the beginning of a game that is complicating Amber’s life. Fleeing her life in Tennessee, Amber heads west but danger is right behind her and so is the mysterious woman who saved her.
Full of twists and turns, this story is an intriguing, definitely enjoyable read. The characters Amber meets in Las Vegas are great additions to the story, and the relationship between serial killer and hunter is beyond twisted. Poor Amber just happens to be in the middle of it all. I really enjoyed this book, it was a fast read for me, each chapter built upon the other, the characters added to the storyline, well developed and well written plot. I highly recommend this author and this book.

Amber Jamison is saved from being killed by a serial killer, so you'd think that things would get better after that, right? Well, you'd be wrong. Her rescue by a mysterious woman triggers a cross-country flight to escape her past and her present, landing her in even an even hotter situation (and making some new friends) in Las Vegas. With the odds stacked against them, they may not make it out alive.
I was impressed at this weirdly lighthearted take on a traumatic experience in a life full of traumatic experiences. Even as we open with her abduction and near-death, the mood is suffused with wry humor--a sort of dark comedy. I feel her frustration as she tries to gain a modicum of control. She's a broken woman trying to find a place and a way to fit in. This was a surprisingly action-packed and clever look at some very dark subjects.
Trigger warning: abduction, violence, abandonment.

From the first page of this wild novel, I was hooked and happily went on the wild and scary ride created by Michelle Gagnon. Amber Jamison gets kidnapped in the first few pages by a serial killer whose MO is creepy and disgusting. Miraculously, Amber is helped by someone wielding a cattle prod.
Amber begins a flight to save herself from what seems to be someone determined to kill her. She hits the road with no real destination in mind. The goal is to lay low and evade police and killers.
The various characters in this hilarious novel provide constant excitement and anecdotes of women's lives. Women who live on the edge. They have seen it all. They live insecure lives in a time when predators lurk in every corner. Amber is good at making friends and getting people to trust her. As a group, women come to her rescue time and time again.
As we get to know the stories of each of these women, we learn about Amber's life and how she became a rogue on the run; I enjoyed this novel immensely! I loved the twists and turns and recommend this novel as a 2023 star read.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the book.

I love, love, loved this book. Thrillers are my go-to genre, but cheeky, sparky dark comedy thrillers are my favorite rare gem. I have zero complaints about this book (except I always prefer an epilogue!) , I'll keep my fingers crossed that maybe this will become a series or duology.

This book was so …. UNEXPECTED. I didn’t really see the entirety of the plot coming.
.
In the very first chapter, Amber is kidnapped by a serial killer. She’s shaved bald, painted blue, and awaiting a strangling when she’s inexplicably saved by “Ski Mask” and her killer is murdered.
.
And that’s just the beginning.
.
What came next was totally unexpected & such a fun ride!

Wow wow wow! What a ride! This book was fantastic. Literally had everything from serial killers to friendship to humor. I am really thinking this is going in my top favorites I have read this year.

Killing Me was a WILD ride. Hilariously written yet dark and gruesome at times too. Definitely for those that love a dark comedy or My Favorite Murder. Absolutely loved it.

Thank you Net Galley for the ARC! This book was different and so much fun! There were a few times I wanted to shake the main character but I enjoyed the story and the twists and turns. I recommend this book as it's a fun, quick, and smart read!

Who knew a serial killer book could be so hilarious!? Reading Amber's thoughts as she beats herself up for being the next victim of the Pikachu killer was just brilliant. Then her life gets turns upside down and the story goes on one wild ride.
I liked how you never quite sure who is telling the truth until the end. It is fast paced and just so funny and I can't remember when I have laughed so hard reading a book. I like how Amber is one bad ass heroine that is funny, and sarcastic and street wise.
Kudos for a such a fast paced, funny, LGBTQ thriller.

From the first page the reader is locked into Amber's story. How many books do you know that start with the main character being abducted by a serial killer and mentally kicking herself for being just like those other "stupid girls" who were abducted before her? This girl has attitude and the persistence of a pit bull. Yes, she gets rescued by a woman dressed in black (who hunts serial killers), but that's not enough for her--she wants answers and she won't give up until she has them. Going from being the victim to joining in the hunt for possibly the nation's most dangerous serial killer could easily have gotten overwritten, but author Gagnon has enough laughs and crazy situations to keep you engaged and racing towards the end of the book. Will there be a sequel? Let's hope so!
