This was a very helpful book, and great for those who are new to meditating (like me!). It was well written and clear to follow. Definitely recommend!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher, All One Planet, for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

My interest in meditation is longstanding even though my practice of it is far from ideal. I picked up this book hoping to reignite the spark and it certainly did.

Written in an easy and approachable style, the information given goes deeper than I expected. You don't just learn how to meditate, you also understand why you do what you do to meditate. Fascinating!

And if you still think that you won't be good at meditating for any amount of reasons, or that you don't have time for it, the author has an argument to counteract any 'excuse' we could come up with to avoid getting started!

This seems to be a readable manual for improving one’s understanding and practice of meditation. I could follow the format and the author’s intentions as he explained technique do’s and don’ts for the seven meditation styles explained. However, some of the author’s anecdotal examples were less well-explained and sometimes seemed unnecessary to the discussion. In addition, parts read like a first draft that could be improved by a good editor. Overall, a straightforward selection to consider for those interested in meditation.

I thought this book was ok. I feel like there were definitely some good practices covered in this book that I would like to use. But overall I would rather listen to meditation than read about it

I have read a good many works in the subject and found this one to be yet another useful introduction to and guide to the practice of mindfulness. Well done.

Outstanding! Finally a book that helps people like me who “get” meditation but just not “get it right. Very helpful and incredible useful, yes I dare say life-changing. Thank you netgalley and publisher for this arc in exchange of an honest review.

I am re-doing my feedback/review, because apparently there was an error when the book was downloaded to my Kindle and I did not get the majority of what was written. Once I realized this I re-downloaded the book, and suddenly everything was there. There are 21 chapters in this book, and the book has loads of great information on meditation and visualization. I found that, although there is some useful information in the book, it does not go into great detail. For example, on visualization they give you tips but no detailed instruction on how to go about it. It's difficult to explain, but I just feel that it was not complete. It might just be my perception, but I feel that I need a structure. I think that the book could have given more detailed and structured instructions on how to go about things. Then there is the App.

There is an App that goes along with the book with the purpose of connecting to experts to help people along with their meditation journey. You can get the app now, but it does not officially launch until August 14th; therefore, there is not much there at the moment. The only thing that bothers me a little bit is the fact that if you want to learn about visualization, for example, you have to pay for a course on it. I do not know if the price will be reasonable or not since the app is not really active yet. Nevertheless, you are told that there will be a free member/new to meditation area for beginners. Advanced area for others and it is not stated if people have to pay for this.

You do get some value from the book. I'm not sure about the App yet. If I saw this book in a store and browsed through it, I think that I would pass it by for another more informative book on meditation and visualization which does not require an app that you have to pay for courses in order to get the detailed information that you were looking for in the book. I guess after reading this book you will make your own decision of whether this was enough or lacking. I look forward to seeing what others think about it.

Pretty concise, useful, and to the point, exactly the handbook on meditation I was desperately looking for and almost gave up on ever finding. I've been trying to learn to meditate for health reasons but never got the hang of it, and now, because of this book, know why: I made all the mistakes and believed all the myths this book dispels. I couldn't have asked for a better guide and that it arrived at a time of most need was a plus. I'll be now recommending this to other people I know that also want to learn to meditate to deal with stress and anxiety.
