Thank you to Forever publishing & Netgalley for my review copy! All thoughts are my own.
As with many romance books, Yours Truly CAN be read as a standalone, but I adored Part of Your World so I would not skip it!
I have only read two books by Jimenez so far, but her writing is my perfect mix of laugh out loud funny, swoony, steamy, and tearjerking. I like my romances on the comedic side, so this is definitely not a sad book! But that third act climax GUTTED me and then put me back together and had me adding all of Jimenez’s books to my TBR.
We know Dr. Briana Ortiz as Alexis’ best friend from Part of Your World, and I knew going into this book that I loved her with my whole heart. Her love interest Daniel also now has my whole heart and is top tier book boyfriend material.
Some highlights:
💖 Love letters! It started with a post it note…
💖 Top tier fake dating / forced proximity
💖 Anxiety rep
💖 Kidney disease (side character)
There was a heavy dose of miscommunication, but I thought it was well earned and perfectly matched what we knew about each character. (I also have a high tolerance for miscommunication so take that as you will!)
Again, there are some heavy topics discussed, please check content warnings on StoryGraph if desired & feel free to message me if you need some details!
The dual narration was so well done and I loved both narrators equally!

This is going to be a top book of the year. It made me lol and crying during the whole thing. Abby worked her magic again with woven serious topics with humor and light through this gem. Read this one with an afternoon or night open as you will not want it to stop. Brianna has had a shit year with a cheating soon to be ex-husband and her brother getting sick then a punch to the gut is a new guy. Jacob comes over from a different city hospital to get away from his ex but keeps screwing up. Then the letters start- Jacob writes one to explain what happened- and the banter starts. Fake dating also comes into play and these two start to understand and like each other. We get a funny family- talking parrot and famous sex ed mother to boot.
I saw myself so much in Jacob with his anxiety that at some points it was hard but wonderful to read and be seen. Abby does a great job with his rep. Loved all the little Twin Cities aspects! Can’t wait for more of Abby!!!

Such a fun, smart romance read! I laughed out loud at parts. It's actually my first Abby Jimenez book — but it WILL NOT BE my last, I swear to that! Gotta pick up PART OF YOUR WORLD next!

Abby Jimenez has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Yours truly will not disappoint. This story hooked me from the first page and as with all of her books I was sad when this one was over.
You'll fall in love with the characters, the story will keep you hooked and you will be glad you added this to your tbr pile!
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. Once again 5 stars from me for Abby Jimenez, well done!

Sometimes you read a book, and then you finish it and you are sad because you will never get to experience it for the first time again. This was one of those books. It was magical. Brianna and Jacob were a great couple, and they were great characters all on their own too. They both were super relatable and strong, and it was magic when they found their way to each other. The friendships, family and love they had for each other and everyone who supported them was so inspiring. I loved this book, it made me cry, it made me laugh, it made me remember falling in love. I strongly suggest if you haven't read Abby Jimenez yet you do so right away.

wow wow wow. I loved everything about this book. it was funny, a lil steamy + I think it touched on some very important things. I related to Jacob so much as an overthinker + someone with anxiety. I think this book portrayed so well how hard it can be to trust after you've been thru a traumatic relationship. This will forever be a book I recommend + is definitely a new fav! PLEASE READ IT!

4.5 rounded up! i could not put this down-- i binged it in just a few days!! After loving PART OF YOUR WORLD, i knew YOURS TRULY would be right up my alley. Abby Jimenez is up there with Emily Henry and CoHo as fav top romance authors. This one’s full of fake dating, love letters, anxiety representation, and workplace romance in the hospital (it’s giving…Grey’s Anatomy?!).
bonus points because it’s written in dual POV, which is my absolute favorite way to read a romance book!!
Aside from the miscommunication trope, this book is a romance lover’s dream <3
thank you Netgalley & Hachette Book Group for the free eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Dear Abby,
Please never stop writing books!

Abby Jimenez's latest release is another perfect read! I was so bummed when this book ended because obviously it was THAT good. We're talking hysterically laughing and choked up crying.
I also want to call out the formatting of Yours Truly. I freaking love when books are in the epistolary format; they're such a fun reading experience. Pair the letter format with characters as funny as Briana and Jacob, an adorable dog, crazy and entertaining side characters, and you have yet another knockout from Abby Jimenez! RUN to get a copy of this!

I absolutely loved the story but more than that, I related to the representation of anxiety. Yours Truly made me feel seen. You also can’t go wrong with a book that has a sob closet!

After reading Part of Your World, and loving Bri, I was so excited to get more of her story. I think it's also safe to say that after reading two Abby Jimenez books (so far!), she knows how to write a book boyfriend! I loved Jacob and all of his quiet moments. He showed up for the people he cares about in the important and hard moments. Some of my favorite aspects of the book were:
-Dual POV
-Mental health representation
-Fake dating
-Exchanging letters
-Laugh out loud moments and great one liners
"If you're with someone who doesn't speak your language, you'll spend a lifetime trying to translate your soul."

"Yours Truly" by Abby Jimenez is a gem of a novel that I powered through on one of my recent flights! I have been reading her novels for so many years now it would be impossible for me to pick a favorite, but I know I liked this one more than Part of Your World from last year.
Briana and Jacob are two ER doctors who initially get off to the wrong foot, but quickly form a friendship as they write letters to each other at work and learn more about each other. I personally found their letter writing charming, and while this book does veer into cheesy territory, it was sweet and enjoyable for a summer read.
The lack of communication in their relationship is wildly frustrating for a reader but I appreciated the idea of meeting someone where they are in their life, understanding their unique circumstances, and embracing them wholeheartedly.
This book even had one of my very least favorite plot devices and I still enjoyed it so that is saying a lot. I also like how Abby Jimenez throws in references to her bakery to all of her novels as a fun Easter egg!

I absolutely adored this one. It has all the tropes: fake dating, miscommunication, and an unexpected pregnancy. Perfect book to go along with Part of Your World.
I know a lot of people don’t like the unexpected pregnancy trope so I wanted to mention it.
TW: miscarriage, chronic illness, cheating (not the main characters), organ donation

A comfort read with a twist, this book is charming, raw and so very endearing. Briana is bruised and scarred from her first marriage, and Jacob is struggling to deal with complicated family dynamics on top of his social anxiety. They are two complex characters who I enjoyed reading about IMMENSELY and found myself rooting for from the very first chapter.

Ok. Jacob is now my everything in male MCs. The way that anxiety was depicted in this book was *chef's kiss*. My only critique is I felt that the "will they/won't they" went on too long and seemed to drag after a while. That being said the resolution was so so so good. I can't wait for Abby's next one!

This just wasn't for me. I've heard such great things about Abby Jimenez and was hoping I found another romance author I would love but unfortunately that was not the case. It might be that I just finished two romance books that I loved, and this just couldn't live up in comparison. I will revisit her work again, but this one just wasn't what I was looking for.

I find that most books do not live up to the Bookstagram hype this days, but Yours Truly absolutely does. If you haven't read it, please do. This book will stay with me for a long time. I don't cry reading books and this book ended and I was in tears.
These characters are flawed. They are not cookie cutter perfect and to me it made them beautiful. I am really not a fan of miscommunication tropes, but aside from getting frustrated for this duo, I didn't mind it for once, because of the joy these two brought to one another.
I don't often annotate my books, but with this one, I continued to highlight excerpt after excerpt. Abby Jimenez has a way of describing love that resonates with. I also think there is something amazing about highlighting something, because it hits home for you and then realize it's pivotal moment for the main characters too.
“I always think that when we’re quiet, we’re agreeing to be harmless to each other. That we’re just sharing the same space and letting each other exist exactly as we are, and neither of us would hurt or upset the other one.” Is that not absolutely beautiful?? Is that not how we want to love and be loved?
Here are two other quotes that just hit me like a truck:
"There’s a special peace in sleeping next to someone you love. When you slip into the dark holding them and wake up and they’re still there and you know that everything that matters is just opening your eyes away."
It's truly the most peaceful of sleeps.
"Have you ever heard the saying that if you’re with someone who doesn’t speak your language, you’ll spend a lifetime having to translate your soul?"
Fear of loving and losing is so real when you've been hurt, and the way it's navigated in this book is done with such care. I think that's why it brought tears to my eyes at the end. I watched these characters laugh, love, lose, and hurt and at each of those moments they were giving 100% of themselves.

Thank you to Net Galley and Grand Central Publishing for allowing me to read an ARC of this book.
There were many things about this book that I absolutely loved! The characters and the plot and the chemistry were out of this world. I LOVED those aspects. However, the miscommunication trope was so frustrating at times that it made it hard to get through. Once I finally powered through, it had a great pay off.

This is happening in the same universe as Part of Your World. I really loved that book and just love all the emotions, dealing with past relationships, mental health, and other complicated issues these books have in them.
Jacob and Briana didn't start off on the right foot but then became really good work friends both on the same schedule as ER doctors.
But then started a fake relationship to help his anxiety with family issues. Loved how she was so aware of how everything would impact him and how to make him comfortable.
So many lovely things happened but they both also had bad breakups that weren't recent but fresh. There was some misunderstanding due to the fake relationship and the real feelings that they were feeling. It was worked out quickly but it's hard to put yourself out there. Loved how he showed her his soul! From someone who writes her feelings I loved the letters! Love shows up!
Thank you readforeverpub for the e-ARC for my honest and voluntary review.

I was so happy that Briana got her book in Yours Truly, especially when we see some of my favorite characters from Part of Your World.
The characters in this story are superb. I loved Brianna in Part of Your World, but Jacob steals this show. Jacob is the kindest charter I think I have ever read. I love how he is so misunderstood at first, but as we get to know him more, we find out that he is just the sweetest!
Of course, both Jacob and Bri have significant baggage. Bri is going through a divorce, and Jacob’s ex leaving him for his brother. The fake dating and other tropes in this book are not the most original, but Abby Jimenez’s writing is, as always, fantastic. She brings humor and heart to this story; these characters are amazing!
Abby Jimenez has done it again. Yours Truly Is another fantastic read!

Abby Jimenez does it again!
Wow, I love her books - definitely an auto buy author for me! I got emotional during the book, but I also LOVED the mental health representation and some of the themes in the book are definitely not talked about enough. The only thing that took away from the 5 full stars was the miscommunication between the MCs. It got old and repetitive - just talk already!
TW:
Pregnancy
Cheating
Mental health - panic attack on page
