Thank you NetGallery, Forever (grand central publishing) and Abby Jimenez for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review. I love Abby Jimenez she is funny and you feel her heart in her books. This is Bri’s story I adore that she tells each characters stories and gives them their own book and own voices. I can agree that the “fake” boyfriend/girlfriend plot is overused… I actually do not care one bit I loved this book.

★★★★/5 & 🌶/5 - Such a cute follow-up to Part of Your World! If you've read that one, you'll love this one too!

SHORT PREVIEW: ER doctor - Dr. Briana Ortiz is in a rough time of her life. Finalizing her divorce, her brother is waiting on a kidney donor, and now she's seemingly getting pushed out of the Chief of Emergency Medicine position she's rightly earned? Jacob - running from the ex whos making his emotional well-being basically impossible, learns he's a perfect kidney match for Briana's brother. With both of their pasts pushing in - can they possibly find a way forward through all of their insecurities?

MUSINGS:
- Really love that throughout this book - trauma isn't portrayed as something fixed by a happy-ever-after ending with the person/people you love. Whether it's found-family or finding a person who promises to be harmless - the author does a great job realistically creating a romance that we can all learn a little something from.
- Another thing about Abby Jimenez's writing style, none of her characters are overly dramatic or make dramatic decisions! It's not the virginal young maidens making stupid reactionary emotional decisions because their brain's pre-frontal cortex is fully formed!?
- So refreshing to read romances about women in their 30's. As I approach 30 myself, I find that I definitely relate to these characters and their motivations so much more. (Especially when they have thriving careers etc. Sometimes those stories when someone throws everything away to follow the person they love are fun to read - but not real life? Loving her story-telling style!

FAVORITE QUOTE:
'Imagine being the woman he picked to join him here. Having a gentle man like this one choose you to be a part of his private, insular world. To be as special as each thing he carefully surrounded himself with. How lucky that woman would be.' - Such a sweet thing to say about someone!

ABBY JIMENEZ'S WRITING STYLE: I'm loving how both books that I've read of hers are basically about workaholics finding love! Her writing also constantly reminds me of things about myself and other important life lessons we should all pay attention to. So many great quotes - I can't even list all my favorites!

SHOULD YOU READ 'PART OF YOUR WORLD' FIRST? - In my opinion, you should definitely read the other book first, or it'll ruin a few of the surprises in the end! I think both are great reads and can be read out of order if you so choose, but you'll enjoy her first book more if you read them in order. The stories have recurring characters that you'll remember from the first book!

Notes:
- Immigrant families, poverty struggles, etc.
- LGBTQ+ themes, nontraditional families
- #womeninstem
- HEA ending
- TWs: cheating, miscarriage & parental abandonment at a young age.
- Accidental pregnancy
- 🌶/5 Definitely less spicy than the last book IMO? A lot of emotional/mental foreplay without excessive dirty talk.

Abby Jimenez is an auto-buy auto-read author for me. The fact that I was lucky enough to get a ARC for Yours Truly is still unbelievable for me.
The book follows Briana and Jacob. If you read Part of Your World, you'll remember Briana, because she is a close friend with Alexis.
Briana and Jacobs characters evolve and grow within the book. They bring each other challenges and makes them get out of their comfort zones. Eventually their relationship grows in a beautiful way that I've only seen in Abby Jimenez books.
Abby doesn't create scenarios or problems for the sake of the plot. She creates characters with realistic expectations, goals and situations that organically helps the plot of the book come to life. Each book just gets better and better.
Here we explore how hard is to take care of a love one when their health is deteriorating and no hope seems to be in the near feature. The book deals with despair, depression and anxiety but overall positivity and a great will to live life at its fullest.
I don't want to give much out, but the title of the book comes from how the main 2 characters interact as a solution to social anxiety. Let me tell you is genius and so sweet.
I hope my review gets you to read this book that I'm sure will become one of your favorites.

It’s official. Abby Jimenez is becoming one of my romance authors of all time and I’m not afraid to admit it. I have read all of Jimenez’s bibliography, from her first novel, The Friend Zone, to her 2022 release of Part of Your World. I didn’t quite connected with The Friend Zone, but as I continued to read her other books in order and comparing them to each other, it’s extraordinary to see how she has grown as a storyteller.
I didn’t think anything was going to top Part of Your World, but Yours Truly blew my expectations and I could say confidently that this book is by far Jimenez’s best work.
The romance is absolutely great. The slow burn between Jacob and Briana was fantastic. I loved that they became friends first and had to slowly learn to trust each other, which makes their relationship way better.
I would also add that this book also has much more angst and yearning in comparison to her previous books, but it is handled exquisitely. There is miscommunication, and while I do dislike this trope, I think it makes sense in this context especially when reading about Jacob’s and Briana’s individual history.
There is a nuance to Jimenez’s characters and their growth. Her characters experience real-life hardships that makes them feel real and relatable to readers, including myself. The representation of anxiety felt personal to me, and I praise Jimenez’s way of writing it perfectly.
Briana and Jacob’s character development was outstanding. I grew to love them individually and I was rooting for them to the end. The portrayal of trauma and anxiety was done really well and explained in a way that many who suffer from anxiety can relate to.
The story does have some heavy topics such as infidelity, miscarriage, and anxiety, so please be aware of the warnings.
Overall, I do believe this is Abby Jimenez’s best book and I highly recommend it to romance readers.

Thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for providing an advanced copy of this book in exchange of my honest opinions.

I wasn’t expecting such a beautiful and accurate depiction of social anxiety when I picked up this book. It was at times so painful to read (forcing me to look in the mirror) but the way Bri helped Jacob was so beautifully shown.

If you don’t like the miscommunication JUST TALK DAMNIT trope this might be frustrating for you.

Abby knows how to perfectly combine humor with gut punching topics. One minute you’re crying and the next you’re laughing hysterically at a bird named Jafar with a potty mouth. I’ve loved all of her books so far and this was no exception.

Thank you NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for proving me with an ARC.

Jimenez is just getting better and better with time. I didn't think I could love one of her books more than the last and we'll, here we are.

This book was utterly captivating. I was so utterly enthralled that I barely came up for air.

Jacob and Briana are just couple goals. With the letters, and the laughs! Oh my squee. This was good.

Jacob is the ultimate book boyfriend and I will fight anyone who says otherwise. Ok, maybe not really. Just don't say otherwise.

Thank you so much Forever Pub and Netgalley for the advanced readers copy. All thoughts are my own.

“Dr. Briana Ortiz’s life is seriously flatlining. Her divorce is just about finalized, her brother’s running out of time to find a kidney donor, and that promotion she wants? Oh, that’s probably going to the new man-doctor who’s already registering eighty-friggin’-seven on Briana’s “pain in my ass” scale. But just when all systems are set to hate, Dr. Jacob Maddox completely flips the game…by sending Briana a letter.”

As a longtime fan of Abby Jimenez, I was so excited to get this book, I read it MONTHS before I was supposed to.

I’m so glad I did.

You, my friends, have to wait until April.

I feel bad for you.

This book was such a treat. From her diverse, perfectly-flawed characters, to the witty banter – from her creative storytelling, to her unique spins on popular tropes (fake dating, and forced proximity, with just a dash of Enemies to Lovers) this book was a delight.

Not only did I want more of Bri and Jake’s story, but now I need all the peripheral characters (I’m looking at you, Benny and Jane) to have their own spin-offs.

My only teen-tiny-itty-bitty complaint was the minor whiplash I got in a few of the dramatic spots. The turnabout was so stark, it took me a moment to figure out which end was up. I suppose that’s how trauma works, but it was a bit disorienting.

All in all, Abby Jimenez is a Season’s Pass for me. I. Will. Ride All. Her. Rides.

8.5/10

Eternal thanks to NetGalley and Forever (Grand Central Publishing) for this pleasure of an ARC.

Abby Jimenez, I think I love you! This book was fan-FREAKING-tastic! As expected, these characters are perfectly fleshed out. They're real and imperfect and completely relatable. Their dialogue is fun and smart and witty and hilarious. And as usual with Jimenez's writing, there are serious subject matters within these pages revealed in a compassionate, tactful and heart-warming manner.
I don't know how it's possible that every one of Abby's books are my favorite, but alas, here we are.
A HUGE thank you to NetGalley, Forever (Grand Central Publishing), and Abby Jimenez for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion! And honestly, I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT!!!

Yours Truly is perfection! Abby Jimenez can do no wrong and I will read anything she writes. A huge thanks to Netgalley and Forever Pub for the copy!

Briana is a recent divorcée who has bigger things to worry about than finding a new husband. She’s focused on her career and her brother’s diagnosis. So when a new doctor comes to town, she wants him out of her way. But even though Jacob Maddox may want to hide in the background, these two soon become the best of buds and intertwined in a fake dating scheme that becomes so natural the two may be truly more than what was expected.

Briana and Jacob are two characters that make you smile and cheer for. I loved the enemies to friends to fake dating…
I cannot get enough of these two and the letters-that was my favorite I enjoyed how Jimenez brought in Jacob’s anxiety and how Briana was so attentive to it. And cmon, we love a guy with a dog but one with a 3-legged pooch named Lieutenant Dan, cmon now! This story was heartwarming!

Do yourself a favor and preorder this rom com! Available 4/11! 4.5 stars!

Yours Truly was another amazing read. Abby Jimenez is seriously so talented in writing these books.
I loved that this time the guy also had battle to be fought in a sense. It wasnt just the girl that needed saving.
Jacob was so amazing and I think my favorite guy besides Josh.
Bri was also a great character and I loved how she supported Jacob.
Everything about this book was just perfection!

I’ve been a fan of Abby Jimenez since reading The Friend Zone. Yours Truly was one of my most anticipated books and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to read it before pub day. I knew this would be a 5 star read within the first few pages. Abby just had a way with words and making you fall in love with the characters. I loved Jacob’s character and the way Briana made him feel. Their relationship is goals! Thank you so much Grand Central Pub for the opportunity to read and fall in love with this book!

Abby Jimenez knows what she's doing.

This book is an emotional roller coaster and an AMAZING one at that. I haven't cried over a book like I did over this one in so long. I was seriously sobbing all throughout the epilogue, because Yours Truly not only broke me but it healed me all at once.

Briana Ortiz can't trust men. After her father left her and her family when she was young and her husband left her for her best friend, she has sworn off serious relationships for life. She doesn't have time for serious relationships anyway, not with her brother being in the hospital in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Meanwhile, Jacob Maddox is in the midst of a hard breakup: his ex-wife leaving him for his brother. When his brother announces his engagement, he has to prove that he is over his ex, and what better way to do that than with a girl who doesn't want any strings attached.

When I say I had no issues with this book, I mean it. It was perfect. The relationship between Briana and Jacob was beautifully crafted and it was wonderful to read about it. And might I just say, it was refreshing for the male MC to be the insecure one in the relationship for once. I absolutely adored every second of this novel and I would 100% recommend that EVERYONE give it a try.

Five stars.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I was so excited to get Abby Jimenez’s new book from @netgalley I love her books. Initially I thought I was going to go slowly and savor it.

Nope. I inhaled this. I basically read the whole thing yesterday. I loved this romance. I loved the story arc surrounding organ donation. I also loved how she handled anxiety.

There is a “sob closet”. If you work in healthcare, you know. Letter writing. Actual letter writing. And a little tongue in cheek humor about being in a romcom type book.

I will be preordering this book.

Abby Jimenez outdid herself with her latest book Yours Truly. Her writing is as sensitive as it is sharp. And so laugh out loud funny! I don’t think I have ever highlighted so many hilarious quips in one book!
This intimate story of two tender people finding love and safety in each other was medicine to my soul. I don’t believe I have ever read a love story where the male main character was portrayed to be so vulnerable, open and strong at the same time! I totally fell in love with both main characters and felt fully entranced as this slow burn unfurled. My heart is a bit hungover from falling in so deeply.
I think I may be declaring this book my favorite read of 2023!

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

Thus book missed the mark for me. I’ve read all of Abby’s books and enjoyed them all, but unfortunately Yours Truly was disappointing. The book started so strong, I had high hopes for a fantastic read. Sadly, it didn’t meet my expectations. Bri was absolutely insufferable. She changed her mind about a hundred times, very inconsistent with her feelings for Jacob. Also, I don’t understand why the author felt the need to tell us how awesome, amazing and perfect these two main characters are over, and over, and over again. Their internal monologues were completely ridiculous and unrealistic. I had hard time connecting because of how unbelievable it was. I was annoyed with the constant repetitiveness. Overall, strong beginning and then the book took a nosedive and never redeemed itself.

I feel so lucky to have gotten an ARC of the highly-anticipated "Yours Truly" by Abby Jimenez! This book is the sequel to "Part of Your World," but it stands alone just fine. 5⭐

Dr. Briana Ortiz is an ER doctor in Minnesota who is very annoyed with her new colleague, Jacob Maddox. Seven patients in a row die on his first shift, leading the staff to start calling him "Dr. Death." He comes off as cold and arrogant. Bri is having a tough time in her life and has no patience for his bad attitude. However, when he explains himself in a letter, she realizes there's another side of him.

As Jacob and Bri start to understand each other better, they call in favors from each other that lead to their families getting entangled, and hijinks ensue.

This book was VERY unputdownable, as I suspected. Abby Jimenez is one of my only auto-buy authors and "Yours Truly" definitely made me stay up late!

⚠️ divorce, infidelity, anxiety, panic attack [*there are other important triggers that are a bit spoilery, so you may want to look them up]

Shareability: Read this if you like the heartfelt vulnerability and mental health rep of Chloe Liese, the real-world romance of Olivia Dade, and the wit of Ali Hazelwood.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

Pairs well with: "Friends Don't" by Maddie & Tae

Abby Jimenez has another enjoyable and fun read with Yours Truly, the follow-up book to Part of Your World. The book follows ER doctors Briana and Jacob who get off to quite the rocky start, but after a change of heart, as well as a match as a kidney donor, the pair begin a fake dating plot to help out Jacob when his ex-girlfriend marries his younger brother. With forced proximity and some letters along the way, the two realize their fake feelings might actually be real feelings. But being brave and showing up for love is just half the battle.

Per usual with Jimenez's books, there is wonderful mental health rep, including social anxiety and depression. There was so much to love, including getting to see Alexis and Daniel again. Jacob's family is the absolute cutest, especially his chain-smoking grandfather. Other highlights included the discussion on oils being natural lubricants and the Lieutenant Dan, Jacob's sweet three-legged dog. However, my favorite part was the letters and notes the pair wrote back and forth to each other, slowly building their friendship and eventual intimacy. The letters were clever, witty, and hilarious.

It was refreshing to see a hero and heroine that were perfect matches for each other. Briana and Jacob truly wanted to know each other, make the others' life easier and bring out the best in each other. Throughout the book, Briana makes it a priority to know exactly what Jacob needs and what makes him tick. This helps Jacob be the best version of himself, despite his at times crippling social anxiety. And when the walls come crumbling down on Briana toward the end of the book, Jacob steps up and helps her face her own trauma, especially when she realizes her divorce wrecked her more than she could ever foresee.

The only complaint I have with the book is the friends to lovers trope itself. I want to preface this by saying this is no fault of Abby and her story-telling. Abby is amazing and I will forever read her books. This is just a personal preference of mine that became more clear to me as I read this book...

You know the point in a friends to lovers romance where the two leads are mutually pining over each other and don't think the other feels the same way? The point where the miscommunication is high and they would basically solve all their issues by just talking to each other? You listen to them list all the reasons why they're in love with the other but can't fathom why they would love them back? I've realized that this is why friends to lovers is not my jam. The trope was done super well here and I know this will land so well for fans of this particular trope.

4 stars!

Read this if you like:
•fake dating
•workplace romance
•guy falls first
•dual POV

It is no secret that I love everything Abby Jimenez puts out, so the excitement was REAL when this book showed up on my NetGalley.

This book was a mixture of humor, emotion, and romance 🤭🥺🥰

Brianna is funny, bubbly, and a very strong female character, while Jacob is thoughtful, kind, and a bit awkward. Their relationship development was chef’s kiss!

The highlights:
+ supply closet meetings
+ the letters
+ lieutenant dan (the three-legged dog)
+ the organ donation / transplant subplot
+ mental health rep
+ swoonworthy moments
+ one bed …. 🤭
+ the chemistry
+ badass doctor vibes
+ Jacob’s parents and grandfather

My only hang up with the book was the conflict at the end ….. the miscommunication and assumptions were very frustrating to read! However, the last 10% made up for it a bit haha.

Overall, I would recommend this to anyone looking for a good romance book that balances heavy issues with humor and joy.

Thank you @netgalley & @readforeverpub for the ARC!

I'm a huge fan of Abby's work and I've read every single one of her books but unfortunately this one didn't do it for me.

Yours Truly was the story of Briana and Jacob. Briana was a previous side character in Part of Your World and I was so excited to finally get her POV. And Jacob from the very first pages was a character that I got really font of and I deeply related with. His anxiety and his introvert self were what made him so loveable and so relatable for me.

These two get into a fake relationship each of them for their own reasons and I must say, in general I love this plot.
But here, I think the point was missed.

The whole book felt like the biggest prologue, ever. I think that the build up was so long that we weren't really getting anywhere, we were going on circles.

Briana was a whole different person in this book. Even if she had her personal issues, still, in the previous book I thought of her as this really mature woman. But here, Abby made her too quirky for my taste. I mean, she was always saying the most random things that you don't really hear from a 30- something year old woman that's also a doctor.
For example, she asks Jacob if she was a gummy bear, would he eat her and when he answers yes she just goes mad?? I mean, this is not cute.
None of the characters acted their age, that's what I'm saying.

Jacob was my favorite character in this whole story and I'm so upset by the lack of communication from both sides.
Everything could have easily being solved if they just talked to each other.

Overall, I still have much respect for the author and I will continue supporting her because she always makes sure to include important issues in her books and she's doing her research well.

This one was just a miss for me...
