Abby Jimenez has done it again! This was such a perfect follow up to Part of Your World (which has been one of my few 5 star books of 2022!). I loved following Bri and Jacob’s love story. The fake dating trope can be a little over done sometimes and she nailed it. She also did a great job depicting anxiety and male mental health in general. As a nurse I also appreciated seeing Chronic Kidney Disease and organ donation thoughtfully and accurately woven into the storyline. Can’t wait to see what this author comes up with next!

3.75!
I really enjoyed reading this! I'm leaning more toward 3.75 stars rather than 4 because the miscommunication that comes with fake dating is something that makes me so frustrated lol! Toward the end, I was just getting a little annoyed with that. Also, don't get me wrong, I LOVE fake dating, but I will admit the trope is becoming a little overdone in romance novels. There's a typical sequence of events in fake dating, and it's okay for romance novels to be predictable, but we all know how fake dating goes so it gets repetitive.

Anyway, I LOVED Jacob's character. I've never read about someone with social anxiety that felt so realistic and relatable. I loved that Briana understood his anxiety and didn't push him outside his comfort zone. I really felt their chemistry from the beginning; I thought it was so sweet how they wrote each other letters in the beginning because it was easier for Jacob to communicate that way until he got to know her better. I just thought Jacob was the perfect man. I don't want anyone if they don't love me as wholeheartedly as he did Briana.

Thank you so much NetGalley and Forever/Grand Central Publishing for this ARC!

Abby Jimenez is one of my favorite rom-com writers. I have read all of her novels and although this one is not my favorite, it is still a five star read.

Jacob is the new ER doctor and his first day is not going well - all of his patients didn’t make it. When Jacob’s brother, Jeremiah, and Jacob’s ex-girlfriend, Amy, announce their engagement, Jacob hastily admits he has a new girlfriend to keep the family calm… but he doesn’t… enter Briana. Briana is about to finalize the divorce from her husband of 10 years who had been cheating on her. She has trouble trusting men, but agrees to the farce of being Jacob’s girlfriend. Can they both overcome their hardships to maybe trust each other enough to move on?

I loved these characters and after reading the afterwards about Abby Jimenez, I respect the book even more. Abby does a great job balancing hard topics, by bringing attention and emotion, but also adding some humor to lighten the topic.

Thanks Forever and Netgalley for giving the opportunity to access this ARC. A great book to consider for book club, especially with the discussion questions in the back.

Four and a half, rounded up. Part of Your World maintains its spot as my favorite Abby book but this one is next. I loved Briana. This one made me laugh and cry. My only nitpick issue with it is that early on three male doctors are talking about her and refer to her as a bulldog, which I loathe because I get it at work too. Assertive, take no crap men are just….men, but assertive, take no crap women are bulldogs. What an unflattering image that brings to mind.

Anyway, I was so excited NetGalley approved me for an advanced copy! I was simultaneously hoping I would get approved and kind of hoping I wouldn’t because now it will be a REALLY long time before I get to read a new Abby book.

I loved this book, I knew within the first 3 chapters I was going to enjoy it but by the end I was sad it was over because I wanted to live with Jacob and Briana for longer. This book was laugh out loud funny but also had movements where I cried. It was such a wholesome romance with just the right amount of spice. I will 100% be buying a physical copy of this book ASAP to add to my shelf as it's going to be a book I return to over and over again. Also the dog being named after a character from Forest Gump, too funny. Jacob makes it into my top 10 book boyfriends for sure. This is a must read!!

I was captivated by Briana's story - she was the best friend from the book Part of Your World. Briana and Jacob are perfect for each other. Jacob's issues lend credibility to this sweet love story. This is one I will definitely recommend.

I was able to get an ARC and I felt like a real reader haha!

I’ve loved all of Abby Jimenez’s books but I really enjoyed Yours Truly! I thought that Jacob’s anxiety was depicted in a very realistic way and I found myself relating to him throughout the book a lot.

Highly recommend!!! The book comes out April 11, 2023!

Thank you NetGalley for providing an advance reader copy in exchange for a review.

Abby knocked it out if the park again! In society today, a lot of people deal with anxiety, and I think this book depicted it in a perfect way. It was real and very much relatable. Mixed in with a good love story, it made it sweet and enjoyable. Abby makes it so hard for me to choose which book is my favorite because I love her writing style and stories so much. 10/10 recommend Yours Truly.

Abby Jimenez continues to show us why she’s on top of the romcom genre with this new book, which releases next spring. (A HUGE thank you to @netgalley and @readforeverpub for the advanced e-copy!)
-
Dr. Jacob Maddox’s ex just announced she’s getting married…to his brother. Oh, and the nurses at the hospital he’s just started working at are calling him Dr. Death after losing a rash of patients.
-
Dr. Briana Ortiz’s divorce was just finalized, and her brother is running out of time waiting for a kidney transplant.
-
Needless to say neither is thriving. And then they meet each other.
-
There’s a lot to love about this one:
💕Unrequited love
🧁Terrible first impressions
👩‍⚕️Woman in STEM
💌 Letter correspondence
💖 Fake dating
🐾Fur babies (Jacob has an amputee rescue dog named Lieutenant Dan! 😂)
🧠Honest depictions of mental health challenges and PTSD
🏥 Organ donation/transplant
❣️The best parents (Jacob’s mom is a sex therapist!)
-
And if you’ve read the rest of Abby Jimenez’ books, there’s just enough inclusion of past characters, though ‘Yours Truly’ totally stands on its own.
-
I didn’t love the eleventh hour conflict (it seemed a bit too much, too late in the book) but everything else was spot on. This will definitely be one of the most anticipated releases in 2023 for good reason!

I have such love for Abby Jimenez's books. Your Truly is just as wonderful as I was expecting. This is Bri's book and we first met her in Part of Your World. Bri is just a strong character even with trying to balance going through a very rough divorce, losing one of her best friends, her brother desperately needing a kidney transplant, and being an ER physician. Then enters Dr. Jacob Maddox. He has anxiety and there was so much I related to with Jacob. He is just the sweetest and has a lot going on in his life too. Bri and Jacob definitely don't start out on the right foot, but when Jacob writes a letter to try and mend things, they both find that they really enjoy talking to each other. Jacobs decides to get tested and he ends up being a perfect donor match for her brother. Bri is extremely grateful and would do anything to help Jacob. When he calls in the favor of her being his fake girlfriend, she cant refuse and finds that she doesn't want to. I loved their banter and easy chemistry. They were so cute and I loved the discussion about anxiety, feeling abandoned, and chronic illness.

Okay I feel like I can always count on Abby Jimenez to write a sweet rom com and this one did not disappoint. Jacob was so kind and earnest and I love Bri. The two issues I did have was that the slow burn was a little too slow and became repetitive and annoying that a lot could have been solved by one quick convo. Also, I love the rep for anxiety (as someone who struggles with anxiety and could relate to Jacob in a lot of ways) but it felt, at times, like the characters whole identity and it became a little too repetitive as well. All this to say - maybe the book could have been 50 pages shorter? I did really love it and felt like the characters really did love each other and I was rooting for them.

Yours Truly is one of my favorite reads of the year. I loved the two main characters. Without giving anything too much, I loved the way that Abby delved into how anxiety can impact a person in their day-to-day life.

The chemistry and banter between the two main characters were one of my favorite parts.

My favorite Abby Jimenez book to date!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 5/5 stars

Abby Jimenez never. misses. Yours Truly may be my favorite book by her yet. This book follows ER doctor, Brianna Ortiz, as she tries to put her life back together after a brutal divorce and finding out her brother is in desperate need of a kidney transplant. When she meets Dr. Jacob Maddox, the two do not hit it off. However that changes when Jacob sends her the most adorable letter and they begin talking via handwritten letters. When Jacob ends up being a donor match for Briana’s brother, she is shocked at his sacrifice and tries to find any way to repay him. That way ends up being fake-dating in front of his family. And I screamed over the cuteness.

Dr. Jacob Maddox is the cinnamon roll love interest of my dreams and I adored him. Jimenez writes anxiety so well that it hurt my chest even reading about Jacob’s struggles with it. Briana is also an expertly-written, complicated, and layered character that you immediately love. The two together were perfect and had all the chemistry. I. Could. Not. Look. Away.

Yours Truly is already a 2023 favorite. Abby Jimenez can do no wrong. I thought she couldn’t top Part of Your World, but then she writes this magic. All the stars.

I just finished reading my ARC copy and WOW!!!
Yours Truly is so👏🏼 freaking 👏🏼good👏🏼!!! I laughed out loud, cried, screamed, and truly loved this book!! It is perfect! I loved the way the characters and settings from Part of Your World are intertwined with Bri and Jacob’s story — it was just like visiting with old friends, and I loved getting a peek into Alexis and Daniel’s present life. The humor was spot on and so relatable — who hasn’t watched someone thru their Ring camera! 😂 and all of the new story lines and characters that were introduced are just brilliant…. I already can’t wait for the next Abby Jimenez book to be released!! ♥️

WOW. WOW WOW WOW.

As someone with crippling anxiety, I related so freaking hard to this book and Jacob. I cried several times because I felt SO SEEN. How did Abby do that?! I have no read her other books but I immediately went and purchased them. Part of Your World is my next read. I also immediately put this book on my pre-order list. I have to re-read it with a physical copy because I connect with books so much stronger that way. But wow, the story, the love, the caring the characters had for each other, the dual POV, all of it.

And never underestimate the power of a handwritten letter. IYKYK.

Thank you x100000 Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and Netgalley for letting me read this ARC.

I absolutely loved this book. Abby Jimenez is one of my favorite authors out there. She is an absolutely incredible writer & storyteller. I love how all of her characters throughout all her books have connections to her past books and it makes jumping into the next story so fun because you already have a glimpse into who is going to be involved in the story. I can not wait for her next book - they can’t come out quick enough!

Thank you NetGalley & Forever for an ARC copy of this book!

I have read and loved all of Abby Jimenez's books since "Friend Zone", and "Yours Truly" is no exception. One of my favorite parts of Abby's books is that the main character of each book is introduced in the previous one. While you do not need to read her previous books to follow "Yours Truly", I would recommend it just because those previous books are such good reads.

"Yours Truly" follows the story of Dr. Brianna Ortiz as she is going through a divorce and caring for her younger brother who needs a kidney transplant to save his life. During this tumultuous period in Brianna's life, she meets the charming but shy Dr. Jacob Maddox, the new ER doctor at the hospital where she works. Just like with her previous novels, Abby strikes a wonderful balance of talking about some of the tougher things that can happen in life, all while introducing a levity, as life is always a mixture of highs and lows, and Abby is fantastic as striking that balance.

I will confess that I do not typically read the Author's Note at the end of a book, but read it in "Yours Truly" since I did not want the book to end. Abby's heartfelt Author's Note was a beautifully brave and open look into how "Yours Truly" came about and why this particular story is so close to Abby's heart.

(Big thank you to Grand Central Publishing and Net Galley for giving us this eARC in exchange for an honest review!)

When I tell you that my heart hasn't ached this hard over a book and fictional couple in a very long time, I mean it. I was up pacing and screaming into my Squishmallow. Everything about this book was absolutely perfect and understood every part about me, which hasn't happened in a while. Everything from the bad first impression, to friends to lovers, to fake dating, to the agonizing slow burn, and the dramatic love confession completely destroyed me in a way that I will never recover. Yours Truly is my favorite Abby Jimenez book thus far, which is saying A. LOT. Jacob is her best male lead to date, and that's impressive with the amount of heated competition. Jacob is the most perfect cinnamon roll character that quite literally worships the ground Briana walks on. Because he suffers from social anxiety, the way that they communicated at first was through letters—literally targeting my love languages. Oh, and he's good with kids, adopted an abused three-legged dog, has a chaotic family, and is an organ donor. Why can't men like him exist? Briana is an absolute icon too. Her energy is so contagious and you can't help but be drawn to her. I literally want to be her. This is the perfect example of how opposites attract because even though they're complete opposites, they understand each other in a way that no one else could. The lyric from peace, "Give you the silence that only comes when two people understand each other," represents them perfectly. Not to mention, You are in Love is THEIR SONG. Once you read it, you will never be able to unsee it. Mark my words.
