I really enjoyed this book and was gripped from the start.
Claire Allan is one of my favourite authors for developing a story and atmosphere in each book I’ve read.
I was quickly drawn into this well written domestic crime novel.
There were lots of twists and turns to keep me guessing. I’d definitely recommend it.

I have always enjoyed Claire Allan’s crime thrillers so I was excited to get an advanced copy of In The Dark. As always, I powered through it in a day, each chapter leaving me needing more. The main characters were not particularly likeable, Nora was a mess as you would expect her to be. The ending was a bit over the top for me but Instill really enjoyed the story.

Nora Logue is infamous. 7 years ago, her daughter Daisy disappeared whilst playing in the woods. Nora has no memory of what happened. She is now remarried and has a son, Luca. But she never stops thinking about or looking for Daisy. So when she is approached by Izzy, a journalist who is filming a true crime documentary on her case, she sees it as a chance to find more information and hopefully what really happened. But it leads her down a dark and dangerous path, putting herself and her family in danger. So what happened to Daisy and is she still alive?

Another good thriller from this very talented author. Nora is the mother of Daisy who went missing seven years ago. She was suspected but has no recollection of what happened on that day. The media went wild casting doubts and for a time Norah's live became a living hell.
Now an up and coming reporter wants to open, solve the case and of course make a name for herself. This brings out all the armchair detectives and really anyone who has a theory. Full of twists and turns. I seem to be reading a lot of books that deal with false or repressed memories and I am afraid they do nothing for me. All in all a good read.

So this book isn’t one I would read while I eat my lunch at work. It’s very good but really pulled on my heartstrings. I would recommend but unless you are made of stone it’s a bit more of a sad read.

Claire Allan likes to keep her readers on their toes, and 'In The Dark' is no exception. The book says much about the ways in which social (and mainstream) media can twist and amplify news stories to suit their own agenda, and to satisfy the voyeuristic curiosity of the public. Through her characters, Allan invites us to consider how it feels to be demonised, and forced to live under the microscope of public opinion. The book has two narrators and examines grief, loss and trauma through the thriller lens. This is what I like most about Claire Allan - her ability to illuminate real issues via popular fiction. The book certainly gave me some food for thought, as regards the true cost of the increasingly popular form of entertainment we consume via documentary films.

I love Claire Allan books, she writes a good thriller! This one features Nora whose child Daisy has gone missing seven years ago. We learn from the outset that revenge is central to this story. The vitriol and manipulation of social media is highlighted when amateur sleuths and broadcasters are using the case as entertainment and publicity.
This is not a criticism of the book, just a comment about my preferences, I struggle to appreciate false/repressed memory themes, so that aspect of the story didn't work for me.

This is the first Clare Allen book that I could not put down, this story is gripping and suspenseful throughout. It is full of twists and turns. "In The Dark" is a gripping thriller about a little girl that goes missing and no one knows how or why, even her mother, who was there that day.
This book had me turning pages long into the night as I just had to know what happened. The author did a great job of giving small subtle clues throughout the story but without giving anything away, leading to an emotional and brilliant ending! The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because I did feel the book dragged on a bit with some irreverent "filling" info.

I have read Claire Allan's novels before and thoroughly enjoyed them I enjoy her writing style and I was super glad that I got to read this novel.

This novel did not disappoint, it involves a sensitive theme of a woman who has lost her child and is quite upsetting at times to read.

We meet main character Nora, who had a daughter named Daisy, to say Nora adored her child is an understatement. One day she went into the woods and seemed to have no recollection of anything and she finds that her daughter is missing.

There is quite a lot of bad press regarding what happened to Daisy, and Nora is a suspect of murdering/child trafficking her own daughter. There is a documentary being made by Izzy, a producer and she gets in touch with Nora and Nora decides she wants to take part of it.

Nora has re-built her life, to some extent and has a son, Luca. Her husband does not agree with Nora taking part of the documentary and is quite a hard man. Nora is desperate to find out what happened to Daisy and she wants answers.

The story is told through Izzy and Nora's point of view and is fast paced.

Fantastic This book gripped me from the first page to the last. I couldn’t put it down. It keeps you in your toes with twists and turn I was suspecting everyone.

It starts with Nora who seven years ago lost her daughter in the woods but Nora can’t remember what happened and most people don’t believe her. She is now been asked to be part of a new documentary about her daughter’s disappearance but by agreeing to be part of it Nora opens up a whole can of worms which could put her new life in danger.

Will definitely recommend this book to everyone.

I’m a fan of Claire Allan and I was thrilled to receive a copy of her latest book. This story centres around every parents worst nightmare- losing their child.

Nora’s young daughter Daisy has disappeared and not only is she reeling from her disappearance but also her inability to remember what happened on the fateful day it happened.

When Izzy a journalist appears in her life wanting to make a documentary about Daisy’s case , Nora decides to cooperate in an attempt to jog her memory and hopefully find her daughter.

Seven years has passed since the tragic event and Nora is now married with a young son. Her husband does not agree with Nora’s decision to be involved in the documentary, but Nora feels to move on in her life she has to at least try in the attempt to find answers.

The plot of this book is thrilling and fast moving. I was second guessing throughout, I had implicated all the main characters at one stage only to find out I was completely off the mark.

This book will keep you guessing to the end a great thrilling read !!

This book is absolutely outstanding! I was never sure if Nora knew the truth or not. Brilliant characters and plot.

Nora Logue is well known throughout Derry and beyond, as the woman who went into the woods with her child and came out without her. Daisy Logue was just 4 years old when she disappeared and Nora has no recollection of what happened.
Seven years later Nora is married and has a son, she still has no recollection of the events leading up to Daisy's disappearance. When she is approached to take part in a new documentary she takes the opportunity, hoping it might bring a new vigour to the now cold case
This sets in motion renewed harassment of Norah, and things take a sinister Turn when a photo of her son appears on an online forum for true crime fans.
This book had me gripped from page one. The tension and atmosphere are almost palpable throughout. This is a real page turner and is definitely worth a read

Claire Allan is such a good writer and I am a fan of her books!
Nora’s daughter, Daisy, went missing several years ago, and Izzy is a filmmaker who is making a documentary about this now cold case. The book is a slow burn and a compelling story, told in chapters from the two women’s perspectives. Recommended.

I loved this. Claire Allan doesn’t disappoint. This was a bit different but just as enjoyable. Full of twists and turns and keeps you guessing until the end. Even when you think you’ve worked it out she throws something else into the mix. Highly recommended.

I am a fan of Claire Allan. I really enjoyed her book, The Nurse. So I was excited to get a copy of In the Dark.

In the Dark is about Nora, the mother of four-year-old Daisy. One day, they go for a walk in the woods, and Daisy disappears.

The story is well-written, with good characters and an interesting plot. This book explores trauma and true crime documentaries. The storytelling was quite tense at times, and I raced through the book to find out what would happen next. I cried at the end; very touching. I like Claire Allan's writing style; she is a good storyteller. In the Dark is an intriguing story and a book I would recommend.

I have literally just finished reading this one and honestly want to go back to the start and read it all again, now knowing how it ends I want to know if I missed anything.

I am always really nervous with mental health representation in thrillers because it can so often be done wrong, but like in her last book The Nurse, Claire has managed to make me so so scared and yet weave all these important threads through a book. I will definitely be grabbing a copy of this for my library when it is released and I highly recommend (even though I haven't slept properly in 3 nights as I have been trying to read just one more chapter ...)

A mother , Nora Logue , goes into a wood with her daughter Daisy , but comes out of it alone . What happened to Daisy ? Is she alive ?
I loved the storyline to this book and it's many twists and turns which kept me guessing to the very end.
Claire Allan is a brilliant author.
