I enjoyed this funny, fairly lighthearted, supernatural romcom. Some parts near the beginning felt a little slow to me, but it definitely picked up. The plot was interesting, the chemistry between the main characters were palpable, and the references and parallels to Buffy the Vampire Slayer were certainly satisfying. I’m looking forward to reading the third book in this fun series, once it’s available.

This one's a fun, sexy supernatural romp that's enjoyable from beginning to end.
Witch Rose Maxwell finds herself adrift in life when she suddenly finds herself ousted from the position she'd been trained for all her life. She's not mad about it and she's happy to let her sister take her place, but now she has no idea what to do with herself. Until a failed animal rescue lands her doing community hours at an animal sanctuary under the supervision of growly half-demon Damian Adams. Not a bad deal if it weren't for the fact that Damian is the one-night-stand that she can't get out of her head. Meanwhile, Damian has his own issues, the least of which is a hex from an ex that curses his soul if he ever falls in love. Not too bad, until spending time together makes both Rose and Damian realize that there could be so much more between them if they'd only be willing to open up.
Both characters have their good and bad points, which just so happen to be perfect counterbalances to each other. They're also surrounded by interesting side characters that actually contribute to the story in a way that opens up the world and made me want to know more about it and them.
It's the second book in the series and I don't think it's necessary to have read the first one to fully enjoy this one. It might make some of the world and overall situation a bit clearer, but it's not necessary to fully enjoy the great interactions between Rose and Damian.
Overall, it's a very fun story with well-executed sexy times and a perfectly classic rom-com ending. What's not to like?
Happy thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin for the magical read!

Cute but probably a bit cliché. You could have predicted the story basically from the beginning. In general I think the main problem I had is that I hate when grown up people pretend they do not want attachments and then they pretend not to care, life is just too short to do like that. The world is magical: there are witches, shapeshifters, demons but it is just the background for the love story which is the center of attention. Still I appreciated the fact there are strong female characters who do not only speak about men, but they try to find they place in the world and to find what brings them happiness.

I am really enjoying these more light hearted rom/com paranormal romances that have been coming out recently. They are a quick and accessible way into the paranormal romance world for people curious to explore but maybe not quite ready for a darker more fated mates approach. April Asher's Not Your Ex's Hexes is fun and charming. Asher's writing has a lightness to it that gives the perfect tone for this world. The pacing works hand in hand with the balancing of plot and romance as this witch and half demon romance unfolds. If you are a fan of Juliette Cross's Savoie sisters, I think you will find this a charming addition into these more light hearted paranormal romances.
The hero and heroine are both strong willed in their own ways and when they are focused to work together sparks and tensions fly. I really enjoyed how both have to work together to learn to balance their ideas of the other and learn to overcome prejudices. I love that you really see that the line between hate and love can be super thin. Asher takes their relationship into a one night stand territory to help them ease the tension between them, but they so easily fall into a physical relationship with the other. Watching these two build a trust and understanding with each other that really deeps and enriches while exploring a different physical side in fun and sexy. These two have chemistry that builds and expands as they progress through the various stages of their relationship. Asher does a wonderful job moving the plot, creating characters that are well balanced and interesting, and exploring a relationship between a witch and half demon that is sensual and sexy.
I would definitely recommend this novel by April Asher, this is such a charming and delightful series. If you are looking at exploring paranormal romance this is definitely a nice way to ease yourself in.
Thank you to St. Martin's Griffin and NetGalley for an eARC, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

After reading the first book in this series, I was excited for Not Your Ex's Hexes! I am a big fan of any type of Paranormal/witchy romance. This is a opposites attract, forced proximity romance which is some of my favorite tropes. I really liked the MMC Damian. He definitely gave bad boy vibes. This was more of a one night stand to lovers romance and I really liked that aspect of it as well. Rose and Damian were cute and had great chemistry and overall this story had everything I like in a romcom and perfect for spooky season.

3.5/5 Stars - 2.5/5 Spice
Book #2 of the Supernatural Singles Series.
So, firstly, this book wasn't as enjoying (for me) as the first book, Not the Witch You Wed. Now don't get me wrong, the enemies-to-lovers/ forced proximity was super enjoyable in this book, but I just didn't enjoy the plot of "I can't love you because I was kinda shitty to my ex and she hexed me to never fall in love." I felt myself getting easily distracted away from this story and kept coming back to it. However, I am incredibly excited for the third and last (?) book of the series with Olive and Bax!
Brief Plot: Rose Maxwell used to have the stress of her families responsibilities to the withing world on her shoulder. Now that she is free, she is trying to find her way. After a misguided attempt to save what she believed to be an abused horse, she has to complete community service hours at the animal sanctuary, and work for the grumpy half-demon, Damian Adams, who would rather her not. As the two save kittens together, Rose learns more of Damian's past of demon-hunting, and a not so great relationship with a witch that ended in him being hexed. Because if Damian falls in love, he will lose both his heart, and all of his humanity.
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an eARC copy of Not Your Ex's Hexes written by April Asher. This is my honest review.

Thank you for allowing me to read and review this wonderful book.
I didn’t know what to expect as I haven’t read any of the other books in the series but it was so cute. I loved Damien and I’d love to continue reading the other stories.

I haven’t read the other books in this series, but I have to say I’m seriously intrigued. I’ve never read anything from this author previously, so I thank NetGally, Publishing company and Author for giving me the opportunity to discover a new author. I really enjoyed the book from beginning to end. The supernatural world is so endless in possibilities.
I enjoyed the main characters and all their interactions and situations; it was fun to read. The heat between the two main characters was palpable. I enjoyed that there were so many characters that depended on one another. I can’t wait to find out what happens/happened with the other sisters. The maxwells are a formidable group.
We meet Damien who is currently hexed by his ex with a soul hex, and then there is Rose who is the middle child of the Maxwell sisters who has lost her place and is trying to figure out what she’s supposed to be doing. The two of them collide in an epic way and it just grew from there. Throw in a couple of cute puppies, an unruly horse, a couple of hunting gigs and a crazy family and you have all the amazing things needed to make a delightful story.
I loved Rose’s and Damien’s love story. I can’t wait to read the future and previous books in this series. The writing flowed smoothly, and the story line kept you moving in a great direction. I would absolutely recommend this book and this author.

I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I read the first book in this series in the summer and was really excited when I found out the second was coming in the winter. I was initially disappointed that this one would be about Rose and not Olive, I hadn't liked Rose as much and worried the book wouldn't live up to the first one.
I was very quickly proven wrong, in this book Rose is no longer in the same situation. Her engagement to a horrible man has ended and she is no longer the Prima Apparent, giving her much more freedom. She starts this book as a single woman looking to rediscover herself. She is trying to find the right job, and in no hurry to settle down again.
Rose then gets into a spot of trouble with the law but instead of going to jail she has to do community service at an animal rescue. The only problem, it's being run by her super-sexy one night stand from a few months ago. Cue the sexual tension. He is also a half-demon trying to lay low and avoid his violent past as a bounty-hunter, a past that made a witch put a love related hex on him.
Rose's and Damian's personal and professional lives keep intertwining, making it even harder to brush off the sexual tension. Can he help her find her true calling while also keeping her out of trouble? Can she help him shake the hex and save the animal shelter from bankruptcy?
I really enjoyed this book, but I still think the first one was a little better and I am absolutely reading Olive's book when it comes out. I like the world that Asher has set up and it's a really fun one to keep revisiting. There's always a lot of love and humor, as well as some fun secondary characters for our romantic leads to interact with.
I absolutely recommend this book if you're looking for a rom-com with a little magic in it!

I'm a huge fan of witchy romance and this series and it continues to deliver. I loved Rose and Damian and their romance. They both had such great character arcs and I loved seeing them find each other and their purposes. I also love getting to see glimpses and interactions with the other characters in the series and how the author expertly sets up the next book for sister #3. This continues to be one of my favorite witchy romance series and I can't wait for more from this author.

This second installment of the Supernatural Singles series has us following the tumultuous life of Rose, the middle triplet in the magical Maxwell triad! I really enjoyed that many of our favorite characters from Book one are included prominently in this story as well and we got introduced to demon bad boy Damian. The chemistry between the leads was palpable and their banter was quite funny. I will definitely recommend this to Library customers who like the witchy book trend and magical fantasy!

This book was significantly better than the first one! I loved the relationship between Rose and Damian, and how they were both significantly more up front with each other than the normal miscommunication trope. The fact that they got all of their stuff aired out at the very beginning of the book and then we could just enjoy the romance? so perfect. I LOVED Rose's relationship with the animals too, and how she used this to find herself when her original purpose was gone. Plus, I CANNOT wait for Bax and Olive's story, because you KNOW thats the next romance. Anyways, super nice and fluffy and so much better than the first one. Can't wait for book 3!

Not Your Ex's Hexes was so much fun! Rose is no longer the Prima Apparent and is struggling to find a new path, She's burning through jobs and you can really feel in the book that she is struggling to find the thing that makes her happy - and also have it be something that she's good at.
Damian is part demon and a sexy vet. He has a one night stand with Rose months ago, and then after an incident that results in community service they're reunited and decide to continue to engage in "relations". No surprise that they're both developing feelings for each other. But Damian has a problem - he had a soul hex put on him and cannot fall in love or he loses his humanity.
Damian and Rose were such a delight and complimented each other nicely.
One other thing that really stands out is the sister relationship. They are all in on being there for each other (but will also call them out on their BS). I cannot wait to read the next one!

Fantastic sequel and super exciting to read. This book is an amazing rom-com with some of the best banter I’ve read in a long time, not only between the main characters but everyone involved in the story! Story also perfectly lays the groundwork for the next book, with sprinkle of what could potentially be a fourth book. Really great read!

I loved book 1 in this series so it was just a no brainer that I would equally love the second in this series! In the book we get to focus on the middle sister of the witch triplets, Rose. A quick one-night stand turns into a situation-ship to soulmates. Honestly this one kind of resonated with me a bit because that’s basically how me and my partner became a thing ha ha ha… Also throw in an animal rescue like come on you’re killing me. We’ve got the bad boy half demon trying to be good and a sassy witch, the steam was steamy. If you love a cozy paranormal mixed with some romance this series may be right up your alley. Also as much as we focused on Rose & Damian I’m glad that we got some form of a follow up with Violet and Lincoln & a little bit of a taste of the youngest witch in the trio and what we can maybe expect in the next book?
Definitely enjoyed this book and recommend if you want an easy read!

In the sequel to 'Not the Witch You Wed', we follow the second sister Rose's story.
Rose was previously the prima apparent but now that she's no longer in the running for the role she is trying to find her path.
She decides to break into an animal sanctuary thinking that the horses there are being tortured and not rehabilitated. She ends up getting caught and has to go to a witch trail where she gets assigned community service.
Damian, the half-demon that she had a one-night stand with months ago is owner of this sanctuary.
So now that they are reunited Rose and Damian have to figure out how to have a relationship that starts from a one night stand neither can forget while trying to break the hex on Damian.
This can be read as a stand alone but reading the first book is helpful.
This is my opinion on ARC I received from NetGalley.

✨Not Your Ex’s Hexes ✨
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 (3 Stars)
Steam 🌶🌶🌶/5 (2-3 scenes with description)
Narration: I read this as an audiobook, the narrator did an excellent job of keeping me interested, and voicing various characters.
No Spoiler Review 👇🏻
This was a decent speculative/paranormal romance read. The first book in this series was an okay read, and it’s how I felt about this book too. It’s not bad, and I liked some things, but I think it could have been better.
This book follows Rose Maxwell, one of the Maxwell Triplets. She’s a witch. After a horse rescue goes wrong, she must serve community service at an animal sanctuary. However, in this sanctuary the vet is a half demon named Damien. He’s grumpy and edgy…and the guy Rose had a one night stand with. Some classic romcom interactions occur.
Things I enjoyed:
Set at an animal sanctuary! The grumpy sunshine relationship. Some moments that gave me the swoony feels. Their cute nicknames and banter between the MCs. The paranormal aspects of this romance gave it some fun moments.
Now for the reason for 3 stars. I found the plot lacking a bit, and some moments of boredom throughout. One of the main points is the Hex on Damien. (Hence even the title), yet it’s not explained all that well and the ending around it was rushed for my taste. The romance was good but felt sometimes a bit rushed. I would have liked it to develop a little bit more.
Overall it was a light witchy romcom with some fun moments and steam.
CW:Blood, violence, animal cruelty (briefly mentioned)

April Asher's Supernatural Singles series follows witch triplets Violet, Rose, and Olive as they navigate a world populated by witches, demons, and warlocks. Along the way, they find themselves and true love.
In Not Your Ex's Hexes, the second book in the series, Rose finds herself in close proximity to a man with whom she shared one night of passion. He also happens to have relocated to her town, is the owner of the horse the triplets just attempted to steal, and is a daemon. What could go wrong?
While each book can be read independently, I think this particular series should be read in order. When I first picked up Ex's Hexes, I had not read Not the Witch You Wed (book one) and felt lost. So I went back and read Not the Witch You Wed. I found it beneficial.
I don't particularly care for Asher's writing. I find it lazy, the dialogue cringy, and the steamy scenes (open door, but not super detailed or drawn out) do nothing to get me through the lackluster plot. I did enjoy the animal plotline in this one, and honestly, it saved the book for me.
At this point, I can safely say that April Asher is not for me. Which doesn't mean she isn't for you. I can see tons of people adoring this, and I did like this one significantly more than Not the Witch You Wed. If you love grumpy x sunshine, supernatural romances, romantic comedies, and sister-centered plots, you may enjoy this book Especially, if you enjoyed Not the Witch You Wed.
I listened to the audio and read along with the book. I didn't love the narrator, but she was better than others I have endured.
Thank you to NetGalley, Dreamscape Media, St. Martin's Press, and the author for an advanced copy of this book and audio in exchange for an honest review.

I really love April Asher’s writing style. Her characters and fun and quirky and the world she has built is fun and rich. I greatly look forward to reading more from the series!
ARC generously provided by NetGalley and publisher in exchange for fair and honest review.

I am officially obsessed with this series and hope there will be more!! I need at least two more: Olly and Harper deserve their own stories! And selfishly I want more of these characters. I loved Rose and Damien together. Their chemistry was well written and believable, no cringe at all. I also loved the animal rescue angle. This book truly had it all!
I received an advance copy. All thoughts are my own.
