Could not go through with the book. I am not sure what it was the characters, the plot? I don't know. I was really excited but ended up disappointed.

This is the second installment in the Supernatural Singles series and I thought it was really fun! While I didn't love it quite as much as the first one, I loved Damien and think Asher writes her MMC's angsty and interesting, just how I like them ;)

In the sequel to 'Not the Witch You Wed', we follow Rose's story. Rose was previously the prima apparent but now that she's no longer in the running for the role she is trying to find her path. She decides to break into an animal sanctuary thinking that the horses there are being tortured and not rehabilitated. She ends up getting caught and has to go to a witch trail where she gets assigned community service. She is told she has to serve time at the animal sanctuary which is run by none other than Damian, the half-demon that she had a one-night stand with months ago. He also happens to be her cousin's husband's best friend so she was bound to run into him as some point but now she's forced to work with him. Rose eventually loves the work she is doing with the animals and for the sanctuary but forced into helping Damian with a hunting task she realizes that it might be her calling. Despite the danger this puts both of them in, Damian decides to help train her so that she is as best protected as possible. In all of this, Damian was hex by his ex because he didn't "do right by her" but in realizing that he's in love with Rose and admitting it to her, he breaks the hex and they are able to pursue their relationship without him losing his soul. It was a fun read and I really enjoyed it.

The second-born Maxwell girl, Rose, had to step up to be the next Prima of witches when her sister had no magic, but now that her sister Violet has come into her magic, she’s free. Free for the first time since she was a child. She has no clue what to do with her life, and she’s floundering when she meets a HOT demon veterinarian. Catch is, he’s been cursed by an ex to never form a meaningful relationship.

We actually get a slight intro to the second book in the first. As I said earlier, this is very Charmed but this time Phoebe and Cole. Ugh, Cole. They’re really interested in each other without being interested in committing. I like that Rose really is focused on finding herself and focusing on what she wants after all the time she’s spent being molded into something she wasn’t. She doesn’t really know herself, and she feels behind since she’s over the age of thirty.

I really enjoyed the romance between Rose and Damian. You could definitely feel their chemistry. However, a lot of the side plots got to be tedious after awhile. I also don't find this magical world easy to keep track of with the amount of time in between reading them.

Reading the digital copy was difficult for me because I was not fully invested in all of the storylines. Luckily I was able to get access to an early copy of the audiobook as well and that made it more enjoyable.

Overall this was not one of my favorite books, but it was entertaining enough to keep reading this series.

I really enjoyed Rose and Damian's book. I love witchy books and this one wasn't super angsty as some tend to be. Rose is just trying to find her place after stepping down from her role as prima apparent. So she's experiencing things she wasn't always able to before. Damian is a grump which of course I love. And I love that Rose is always teasing him.

After training her entire life to become the next Prima, she now has time to focus on herself. Her first big move is to indulge in a one-night stand with the alluring stranger she meets at a bar. They never exchange names but that doesn't stop her from thinking about him.

So imagine her surprise when she's sentenced to community service with the very man she hooked up with. He's a half-demon veterinarian whose animal sanctuary is in need of a little money. He doesn't want to turn to his old way of making money, hunting, but he could use the cash flow. When Rose makes the suggestion for fundraising he immediately rejects the idea but she's able to eventually win him over.

Their attraction becomes undeniable the more time they spend together, so they agree to a no strings attached, friends-with-benefits arrangement. It's the only thing he can commit to after his ex hexed him.

Thanks so much to the author and St. Martin's Press for this ARC to review.

Rose Maxwell, had her future as a Prima all planned out for her. That is until her older sister (by minutes) steps up to the witchy plate. Leaving Rose with no idea what to do with herself. For now though, saving two abused horses seems like a good idea. Definitely better than thinking about the impulsive (AMAZING) one-night stand she had with half-demon, Damian Adams.

Well, at least it was a good idea. That is until Rose is sentenced to community service in the animal sanctuary that Damian runs. Then starts a series of events (i.e demon attacks and a no-string attached relationship … to name a few). That force Rose to figure out what she wants to do with her life, and Damian to resolve and face the past. All while they start to realize they have feelings for each other. Except there is the hex that Damian’s ex put on him; in which he will lose his humanity if he falls in love. Yeah … that might put a hamper in things.

Not Your Ex’s Hexes is the second novel in the Supernatural Singles book series by April Asher. I have yet to read the first novel in the series but if this novel is anything to go by. My feeling is that I would like it, because I enjoyed Not Your Ex’s Hexes.

I think that if you have ever been or are lost in what to do with your life. Then you’re going to love Rose and her journey in finding her place in the world. Reading about her journey lifts the pressure of own thoughts of where I’ll end up in life. I liked that the search was never made out to be a joke. Even though the novel is lighthearted.

Through this lightheartedness we meet a cast of characters that will hopefully be featured in future novels of the series, because you can’t help to fall in love with those characters as well. Another thing I like about Not Your Ex’s Hexes is the many references to pop culture that I easily understood and enjoyed. It connected me to the story. Involving me till I almost believed I could join the group of friends with no difficulty.

Little witch 😍🥵🥰 Gosh, everything about this story was great. There aren't very many series that the second book is even better than the first but I would have to say this one was! I adored the first book and laughed all the way through but this one hit different. It was funny, spicy, and relatable! Rose may not know what she wants to do with her life but she knows she loves being a witch, she loves her sisters/family, and she has a huge heart! One night stand turns into enemies to lovers, friends with benefits, work place spice. I mean, it's all here! And it's done perfectly!

After Stepping down from training to be the next Supernatural Council Prima, Rose Maxwell can finally focus on herself. After a horse mishap, she is sentenced to community service at an animal sanctuary, which happens to be run by a half-demon veterinarian who, after a one-night stand, Damian Adams. Rose can't seem to get him out of her head. Neither of them is looking for a relationship. So a friends-with-benefits, no-feelings, no-strings arrangement works perfectly for them, right? Because Damian can't have feelings, shouldn't have feelings, because of an ex-hex, because if he falls in love, he'll not only lose his heart but his humanity.

Not Your Ex's Hexes picks up where Not the Witch You Wed leaves off. This is the second installment of the Supernatural Singles series, and I personally loved this one better than the first. This is a one-night stand between a willful witch and a broody half-demon that turns into lovers. I love the pacing of this one and how April always hooks me in with how well she can write. It starts off strong with stealing horses and getting arrested, so you know it has to be good. Of course, it's over the top with this one, but honestly, that is what I loved so much about it. The banter and angst in this one are just so good, and it gave me friends with benefit don't catch feeling vibes. Not overly the top witchy either, so that it can be read year around. If you love a romance with a supernatural feel, this one is for you.

Thanks to April Asher for giving the winner copy and St Martin Press for the advanced reader copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This is the 2nd in April Asher's Supernatural Singles series. You do not need to read the 1st to read this one, but I believe it would be more enjoyable if you did to know more of the backstories and characters.

I would rate this for me to be about a 2.5 rounded up to a 3. A couple of my negatives are: repetitiveness (how many times can someone's eyes flicker to someone's mouth and back again), kinda cringe descriptions in the sexy scenes (I won't give examples and I am no prude but some word choices, just no) and made up cutesy words (you are such a bwitch!)

These a nitpicky negatives. I liked most of the characters and the supernatural storyline, but the things mentioned above were a distraction.

Obviously there's going to be a #3 for the 3rd triplet. I kind of want to finish what I started but we'll see!

Thank you to St. Martin's and Netgalley for an advanced readers copy of this book for my honest opinion.

💭Thoughts:
This is the second book in the Supernatural Singles series! I loved the first book in the series, so I was excited to read the second book. I was not disappointed. This was a fun, steamy, banter filled romance between a witch and a half blood demon. It can be read as a stand-alone, but it was to find out how Lincoln and Violet were doing from the first book.

I enjoyed the fact that half- demon Damian was a veterinarian. I loved all the references to the different animals at the animal sanctuary he ran. It really added a sweet aspect to grumpy Damian’s personality.

I loved the chemistry between Damian and Rose! Their nicknames for each other- Dr. McGrumpypants and Little Witch put a smile on my face. I found myself really endeared to these two!

I definitely recommend this book and series to anyone who loves fun, sweet witchy reads!

Three and a half stars rounded up

Thank you @smpromance for the complimentary copy.

This book is the second book in the Supernatural Singles series. I didn’t realise that until after I started it. I decided to keep going anyway since it published this month. I would definitely recommend reading book 1 first, this one dives straight into the storyline with only the slightest back story given here and there. It was enough for me to continue, but I think it did affect my enjoyment at the beginning just a little bit.

I struggled with rating this book, because there are parts that I really enjoyed and parts that did not work for me at all. I’ll start with the negatives and get them out of the way. I can’t speak for book one, but this book is SPICY. I have no issues with that, but I know some prefer something milder or closed door, if that’s you then don’t pick this one up. Most of the spice was fine for me, but there were a couple descriptions that really made me cringe. My nephew follows me on here, and while I don’t think he actually reads my reviews, especially for a romance book, I’ll leave the worst one out. Here’s a tame example, the word ‘folds’. In my opinion ‘folds’ should only be used when one is discussing origami or Shar-Peis, not ‘lady bits’ - which was also used a few times. If you’ve been following me for a while you already know that I don’t like a lot of repetition, so after this book I have added the word ‘twitched’ to my list of words I don’t want to read again for a long time. Hypocritical I know since I tend to repeat the same words a lot in my reviews and not notice until I’ve posted. There were two or three scenes when they were in danger, and Rose’s dialogue during those moments made me feel like I was reading a YA. She mentioned Buffy the Vampire Slayer at one point and then it clicked, except Rose was supposed to be in her early 30’s… it just didn’t work for me. Lastly, I didn’t fully understand the details surrounding the hex at the end.

Onto the positives! The chemistry between Rose and Damian was great, and not just in bed, I loved how the relationship built as they worked together. Speaking of working together I so enjoyed reading about the sanctuary and their animal rescues! The supernatural element was so fun. I haven’t read anything with vampires, demons, and shifters in years. I loved Rose’s relationships with her friends and her sisters, they were so supportive of each other while calling bullsh*t where necessary. Speaking of her sisters, Olive was my favourite, and I’m hoping there will be a book 3 about her. I would absolutely read it! I recommend this to those who like sweet and super spicy romances, or if you need something to lift your spirits after a heavier read.

April Asher has done it again with Not Your Ex's Hex's, this book is delightful, spicy, and intriguing, and will keep you glued to the pages.

The Maxwell sisters are some of my favorite witches, hell they're some of my favorite paranormal characters in general and I think Rose is my favorite of the three.

Her story begins with her memories of the one-night stand she can't forget and doesn't want to, she's trying to find her way in the world and as the Prima.

Damian has a complicated history, with his ex who literally hexed him, trying to save every animal he comes across while trying to sort out the most complicated family history I've read in a while he has a lot stacked against him.

When these two find each other again after that one-night stand sparks and magic mingle in the best possible way.

While Rose and Damian try to figure out how to save the animals and how to save each other they find the happily ever after neither of them thought they'd ever have.

So impressed with this book. I enjoyed the diversity in this series, the "Interspecies" dating if you will. The MFC is "Overweight" but the book doesn't focus on that which is nice. So many books with a "Fluffier" character put so much focus on that, that it ruins the story. Also the characters are mature (30's?) and relatable. The FMC is a badass witch and a strong character. This book even talks about one of my favorite 80's movies, which alone makes the book unforgettable to me. Great paranormal read.

I loved the first book in the series and thought Linc was so hot. But Oh My Goddess, this second book was a delight. Damian was SMOLDERING. His chemistry with Rose was off the charts.

From the witty banter or the special nicknames, saving animals, bounty hunting demons and special sister bods, this book was full of magic. Rose was a strong female lead (especially alongside her beloved sisters) and Damian was a grumpy force to be reckoned with that you couldn't help but fall in love with. I loved the reoccurring characters from the first book and can't wait to read Olive's story!

Also loved the Buffy references, the Say Anything grand gesture debate and the Bingo date! An utter treat.

I loved this! Even better than the first book. Sweet, exciting, fun, and big-hearted. I love this world and these characters. The mix of magic and grounded friendship, romance, and camaraderie.

Second of the witchy triplet sisters, Rose, gets her HEA.

Cute and sexy, with a hot half demon vet and rescue puppies and horses.

I liked this even more than the first book. It was fun to see the heroine find her feet after the future that set for her was derailed by her sister's late onset magic and it was fun to see the relationship with the grumpy demon vet grow and turn into the love that he never dreamed he could have. Thus can be reas without reading the first book and the set up for the next sister has me looking forward to the next book.

This was fun, and spicy, and cute, and everything I wanted from a follow up to Not The Witch You Wed.

These sisters and their friends have my whole ass heart. There's just far too much about these characters not to love! This book brought us the middle triplet and the demon romance we were promised at the end of book 1 and y'all I was here for it. I mean, he's a demon (okay, a HALF-demon) who is also a vet and takes care of abandoned and abused animals in his spare time? And he's hunky AF, drives a motorcycle and has a favorite leather jacket? Yes. Please.

And Rose is nothing to shake a stick at either. Now that she's out from under the pressure of being the next prima, she's figuring herself out and being one bad ass witch. She's got a lot of Vi's sass plus a lot of her own charm from her prima-in-training days and y'all mixing her with Dr. Demon was exactly what I wanted/needed from this book.

The curse - I didn't see things going the way they did but I LOVED it. It was a perfect rom-com worthy ending to this story. And even better? Just like the last book, this one showed us the most likely next couple from book three and y'all I am HERE for it! I also have a sneaking suspicion that along with Olivia getting her own book, their succubus bff (I can't remember her name right now) might get her own book. A girl can dream.

I'm a 3.5 on this one.. I liked the pace and substance of this one better than the first. It drew me in more and made me want to know what happened next. Also enjoyed the romantic aspects more - felt a genuine connection and loved the chemistry! Mates at the end though... A little too convenient but that's how it goes I guess.
