A cute story, a easy read. Easy to connect with the characters . Good plot glad to have had a chance to read this.

Having met Rose in the previous book in this series made me very curious how she would find her HEA, but have no fear! This book definitely delivers in both the heat and the happy ending.
Rose is floundering a bit. She spent so much time getting ready to be the next leader of the witches that when her newly powered twin gets the title, it’s taking some time to figure out what her “thing” is. Having failed at most of the things she’s tried, she takes up animal rescue (in the middle of the night) and ends up arrested, facing her sexy one night stand. Damian, a vet and half-demon, is the owner of said animals in need of rescue, and these two definitely remember each other. Unfortunately for them both, Damian has been hexed in a way that prevents him from searching for love.
Rose and Damian adorably circle around one another (and then with the smutty goodness), and it is awesome to watch. There is the additional adorable animal angle, too! With magic, attraction, and a seemingly fated love story all rolled into one - this story really had me hooked. Even the assumed bad guys end up ok in my eyes by the end of this one. If you like adorable puppies, love, smut, or any combination thereof (with magic), this is definitely a book worth reading. I can’t wait to see what happens for the other sibling when the dust settles here!

Not Your Ex’s Hexes was a delight! I had already read the first book in the series and was excited to see where this one would go. I never expected a horse napping intro but loved seeing it unfold! This book has it all: slow burn romance, coming of age, friendships and sisterhood! I love the magical world April Asher creates!

This book deserves five stars for the no pants express alone.
But seriously this book is so so amazing the CHEMISTRY the SPICE the PLOT the EVERY LITTLE DETAIL THAT APRIL ASHER INCLUDES that I would recommend to every single person.

Super cute fun read! I highly recommend reading the first book in the series before this one to get the most out of Rose and Damiens back story.

I wanted to love this book but it just felt ok to me. I think for me the biggest problem was I felt very confused about the characters. I am thinking that if I read the first one I would have enjoyed it much more because it was a good plot, just the confusion took away from it all.

I’ve decided all characters named Damian immediately have BDE. I don’t make the rules!
There are three types of chaos. Chaotic Good, Chaotic Neutral, and Chaotic Evil and this book is chaotic good. The book starts off with the Maxwell sisters trying to steal a horse. They could use magic, but doing it the old fashioned way is 10x more fun.
This book follows Rose, our second Maxwell sister and former Prima in-training, and her kind of boss, half demon super hot veterinarian Damian. He’s grumpy, has daddy issues, and baggage, but I fancasted him as Ted from Schitt’s Creek because I don’t know any other hot veterinarians.
There’s hijinks and tension and cute nicknames like little witch and demon fighting. The relationship between Rose and Damian is complicated to say the least. Damian doesn’t want to fall for her because he’s been hexed by an ex, but he can’t help be attracted to her. He’s jealous and overprotective and probably smells like manure, but my godddd is his love language acts of service. He may not support some of the things Rose wants to do (cause they’re literally deadly), but you bet your ass he’s gonna be there with her. We also get a huge grand gesture that he despises but does anyway cause he loves Rose 🥹
I love Rose SO MUCH. She’s witty and doesn’t take Damian’s shit. I think she’s a very relatable character in that she’s trying to figure out what she wants to do with her life. Regardless of the bad hands she’s been dealt, she still loves just as hard. Her Instagram bio probably says something along the lines of “Will sell soul to save puppies and horses!”
Anyway, this book was super cute and funny. My only complaint that it felt like it was dragging a bit in the middle. Some parts definitely felt more filler than important to the plot.
Pls give me Bax and Olive’s book soon.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this arc in exchange for an honest review!

If you love witchy vibes, with a dash or more of romance.. add some (lots of) humor, and you’e got yourself Not Your Ex's Hexes, pure magic.
It was a wonderful page turner, perfect for Valentine’s Day, and beyond. Definitely loved reading Rose’s journey develop. Although this is book 2 in this series (Supernatural Singles) it could definitely be read as a stand alone.. BUT I would highly recommend any reader to start with book one, as you’ll understand all this things and more of the world building.

Now that Rose had a little extra time on her hands, she was . . . lost . ..
Second in the Supernatural Singles series, Not Your Ex's Hex was a paranormal and fantasy world story that put the spotlight on the second Maxwell sister, Rose and Damian Adams. I haven't read the first book but I thought the author did a good job catching newbies up on what happened, eldest of the Maxwell witches magical triad triplets, Vi, finally came into her power and displaced Rose as the Prima Apparent (Prima is the head witch of the Supernatural Council). Rose, gladly, not only lost her job but an unwanted fiance and now is feeling adrift as she moves from working for a ride share to working at the local bar, Potion's Up.
Damian is a half-demon who is bestfriend's with Vi's soulmate, a veterinarian and owner of an animal sanctuary, and oh, has a soul hex on him that if he falls in love, he'll lose his soul. He's all about one and done encounters but a few months later, when he runs into Rose, he can't get their one night stand out of his mind.
The more he embraced his inner demon, the less Damian saw of Damian. He hadn’t been fully aware of precisely how off-track his life had gotten until he faced the wrath of a pissed-off teenage witch and earned himself his very own hex. That was his wake-up call. And finally, after years of Hunting, he realized he had two choices: give up his humanity to become one of the volatile lowlifes he Hunted, or hold onto it with everything he had.
I enjoyed the magical realism/urban fantasy world this had, think a lighter toned Hidden Legacy by Ilona Andrews or Third Shift by Suleikha Snyder. There's a good amount of friends and family but they stayed enough to the side to let Rose and Damian shine but came in enough to fill out the characters and world. Even though our main couple had a one night stand months ago, they get a push to be together when Rose has to complete some community service hours at Damian's clinic/sanctuary. Their teasing friendship chemistry was pleasurable to read and even though I said the tone was lighter, Rose gets horribly injured at one point but the scary danger of it was rushed through fairly quickly, never getting too dark, they curse and hit the sheets and desk pretty often. They had that chemistry snark towards each other that flowed to softening when they rescue puppies and then a little before the midway point, they come up with their friends with benefits agreement.
And then his eyes locked with hers across the room.
The second half brings in more of Damian's half-demon issues, him trying to control his inner demon and dealing with his brother Julius. Julius is on the Supernatural Council and wants Damian to return to Hunting (think supernatural bounty hunter). Damian needs money for the sanctuary, so he's already thinking about it and when Julius involves Rose, getting her to want to hunt, Damian agrees so he can take assignments with her to protect her. This was a bit longer than usual contemporaries, around 340 pages and while I overall liked how it didn't like the story was rushed, there were some pieces that didn't feel like they smoothly fit and maybe could have been left out. There was a mean girl trio that tied into Rose's ride share job, a random flashback from Damian's past that could have worked if went longer and showed his hexing but as the only flashback felt uselessly placed, a no pants subway ride that didn't hit the mark for me, a live cams scheme by Rose to help the sanctuary that could have been left out as there was a later, rushed, adoption fair featured, and a few other little things that when I think back on them, didn't tie-in the best. I would have much rather had that time given to more resolution with Damian, his inner demon, and his brother.
They belonged together, and he wasn’t about to let something as minor as a Soul Hex prevent that from happening.
The last twenty percent had Damian's hex coming more into the picture to be dealt with and we meet the ex witch that hexed him, following with the tone, she's not as evil as thought to be with a surprise reveal. If you're looking for a sizable cast of characters that keeps them around but gives the spotlight to the main couple, a lighter toned paranormal world, and steamy open door love scenes between two leads that had fun chemistry, this is definitely a world you'll want to hop into. Rose's younger sister Olive looks to be getting the set-up with her new roomie, guardian angel Bax.

4 stars - Great! Might re-read
Loved this! The characters and world-building for this series are so great! I enjoyed the animal rescue angle on this one. I was worried the "half demon" thing might cross the line of fantasy elements for me, but it really wasn't a big issue. The sisters at the center of this series are a delight - I can't wait for the next sister's story! Fans of the Grumpy/Sunshine trope should be sure to pick this one up, as should fans of book 1 in this series. (Language, sex)

3.5 stars. Overall I enjoyed this book. It is a light-hearted, contemporary romance, full of a supernatural cast of characters, steamy hookups between the two main characters, and some lovable animals. It did drag a bit at times for me, but picked up in the later half of the book.
This is the second novel of the Maxwell sisters. I highly recommend reading the first book before this one so as not to miss the world-building and avoid holes in the story.
Thank you St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my review.

An adorable entry into a series I had somehow forgotten about but was happy to rediscover. It was nice that the fact that the woman lead is plus size was not her entire personality and was only glancingly mentioned a handful of times (in positive terms) and shown on the cover. Refreshring!

I absolutely L O V E D the first book in this series. It was on of my favorite books of 2022. So when I saw this one come up I knew I N E E D E D it!
This story follows Rose, who was formerly thought to be and training for Prima (go read the first book to find out what happened 😘), and half-demon Vet Damian.
I love how this book continued the relationship between the sisters while also helping Rose fine her new place and her happily ever after.

I really enjoyed this one! I am not surprised tho, because I loved the first one so much! In this one we have rose who is on the path of finding her self again after stepping down from a bad relationship and a life of a prima that she thought she was going to be. She is full of life and spunk and I loved that about her! When she gets her self into a little bit of trouble she is sentenced by the supernatural council to do community service hours at the animal centre. And that’s when she runs into Damien her one night stand from a few months ago, the one she’s been trying to forget about. Damien is grumpy and not happy to have rose around. But as the animal centre needs help, rose does what she does best and steps in to try to help it. And the more time these two are around each other they really can’t help but see each other who they really are. But rose isn’t ready to jump into a relationship yet and Damien is harbouring a secret form rose he was hexed by a witch when he was a teenager that if he falls in love he will lose his soul so he is not willing to let Rose close and try’s so hard not to fall for her charm. This one was full of laughs, adorable animals! Some adventure, a sexy demon vet. Our favourite characters from the first book in the series! A bit spicy and great plot and character development separately and together! I can not wait for olives story!

Fiery badass witches, sexy half demon vets, 80’s rom com references, puppies and horses galore, AND some absolutely steamy (🥵🥵🥵) scenes? Not your Ex’s Hexes has it all.
The Maxwells are back and this time we follow Rose. All of her life Rose was supposed to be the next Prima on the Supernatural Counsel, but life happens and now Rose is on a journey to find herself. A steamy one night stand with a sexy demon stranger (Damian), fast forward to attempted horse burglary, and you’ve got Rose completing community service hours at so called one night stand’s veterinary practice. The chemistry between these two is REAL. The only problem is, there’s more than just sexual chemistry. They might even be each other soulmates. However, Damian’s bad boy life as a teenager caused him to be “hexed” forever, deeming him impossible to fall in love unless he wants to be eternally damned. It’s all very dramatic, but it works. The character growth is excellent in this story, and you can’t help but want to be a part of the Maxwell coven. You will zip right through this rooting for Rose and Damian, and you won’t regret it. Thank you so much to NetGalley for an ARC of Not your Ex’s Hexes, in exchange for an honest review! 4.5⭐️

This book was very cute! I love a good paranormal romance and a one night stand book with a hot half demon? Swoon city!!!! I had not had a chance to read the first in this series, so I was thrilled to be sucked into this world. I'm usually not one who reads out of order even if it was an interconnected standalone. But overall, I loved the body diversity. I really loved the humor. The chapter titles alone had me giggling at times. It reminds me a lot of The Ex Hex, which is great because this is the perfect book for folks who are fans of it! There are so many positive things about this story that just made it fun and easy to read. I am really looking forward to the next one in this series.

This is a super fun supernatural rom-com. I liked how there was a mixture of magical culture and world building, but the romance wasn’t dominated by supernatural elements. It was really about Rose and Damian falling for each other naturally. There’s lots of fun banter and shenanigans. I appreciated how Rose really had to deal with a change in identity, trying to find out who she was outside of her previously assumed role. I’m curious what’ll happen in the next book!

Read this Paranormal Rom-Com if you like;
· Forced proximity
· Grumpy x sunshine
· Opposites attract
· Spicy scenes
· Modern supernatural world building
· Adorable animals rescue
First of all, I’d like to say while this book can be read as a standalone it’s better to read the first book before reading this one otherwise you might get confused when you read the first few chapters of this sequel.
The story is told in dual POV – Rose and Damien, which is a great touch so the readers can get to know the main characters better.
The world building is interesting to know but it took a while for me to get hooked into it (makes me kinda wish I read the first book, might help me understand better).
The characters are easy to like, fun and amusing. Rose is an enjoyable FMC to know, she can be sassy but also caring.
I also like the sibling relationship Rose had with Violet and Olive, they’re very supportive toward one another and it can be felt throughout the story.
I do like the growing romantic relationship between Rose and Damien. Rose's bubbling sunshine character slowly rubs off on the brooding and grumpy Damien which I find adorable.
I also like their bantering but after a while, I find it gets a bit too much which makes the story feels longer than it should be .
The ending though ended a bit to abrupt, I was left slightly confused about solving Damien's hex.
Nevertheless, this is a cute and light-hearted paranormal rom-com story. I also like the writer’s humor which I find enjoyable.
I'm still interested in reading this series, there's a glimpse about whose gonna be the main characters featuring in the next book!
⚠️ 𝐓𝐖: Sexually explicit scenes, profanity, jerk ex, sick animals being nursed back to health
Thank you to Once Upon a Time Tour, Netgalley, author and publisher for giving me an e-ARC of the book and for having me on this book tour. I’m leaving this review voluntarily!

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

❓ #QOTD If you could shift into any supernatural creature, what would it be? ❓
🦇 Now that Rose Maxwell is no longer the next Prima witch on the Supernatural Council, she's at a loss with what to do with her life. Thoughts of her impulsive, steamy one-night stand with Damian Adams, a half-Demon, still swim in her mind. After a string of dead-end jobs, she finds herself sentenced to completing community hours at an animal sanctuary—the sanctuary where Damian happens to work as a vet. Still tingling from their brief encounter together, the two develop a friends-with-benefits arrangement, certain they won't catch feelings. Unknown to Rose, Damian will lose his humanity if he falls in love. Is the stubborn, sassy witch worth that risk?
💜 April Asher's writing draws you in from the get-go, inviting you to escape into a world of Supernatural beings, magic, and lovestruck mayhem. The prose is playful, enchanting, and witty, ensuring one page rushes right into the next. The book plays like a movie (fitting, since Rose is a fan of romcoms and grand gestures) with an attention to detail that sweeps you off your feet and plops you right into Rose's witchy world. This grumpy vs sunshine pairing bring the banter and sexual chemistry, but they don't overshadow the overarching plot and singular character development. Each side character contributes to the story with their own motivations as well (which will make you all the more eager to read the other two books in the Supernatural Singles series). Don't wait until autumn; whether you're ready for romantic witchy vibes or not, Asher's writing is sure to enchant you.
🪄 The only time the spell stalled for me was when the pacing hiccuped. Each time the story seemed to pick up, it stalled again. With how much information we're given about Rose's family, I do wish we'd received more of Damian's backstory than one flashback. Maybe I'm being selfish in wanting MORE of Asher's dynamic, realistic (despite the Supernatural bloodlines) characters.
🦇 If you're an old-school fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer or OG Charmed, this book is for you! And if you're not, the hijinx, laugh-out-loud humor, and heat are bound to enthrall you. This book is pure magic!

🦇 Major thanks to the author and publisher for providing an ARC of this book via Netgalley. 🥰 This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

The Maxwell sisters are back in the follow up to Not the Witch You Wed. Rose has stepped down from the role she had been preparing for her whole life, and due to some circumstances she was sentenced to community service.
One night stand, then friends with benefits, then friends to lovers.
This book is so fun and magical-pun intended. With shifters and demons and witches, shenanigans will always ensue. Both books in this series have had me smiling from beginning to end.
Thank you NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and April Asher for a digital galley in exchange for a review.
