Thank you NetGalley for sending me an arc of this book to review. Now this book is the second in the series and while I liked the first one just a tiny bit more I still really really enjoyed this book. It was wonderful to see Roses growth from the first book and Damien and his animal family were right up my alley. Though I will say there was a certain male in this book that had to grow on me. I can’t wait to see the next book in this series and I’m hoping Harper gets one as well because I ship her and the vampire from the bar.

Such a great follow up to Not the Witch You Wed! This time we get Rose’s story all about life after being the Prima Apparent and stepping down and what that means for her professionally…and romantically. Enter sexy, tattooed, half-demon, veterinarian Dr Damian Adams. He’s grouchy and sullen and a little rough around the edges and REALLY good in bed. When Rose ends up working for him due to a misunderstanding they strike up the perfect deal: friends with benefits, ending whenever one of them says so. Rose isn’t looking for a relationship, and Damian can’t due to his ex’s hex on his heart and soul. What could possibly go wrong bonding over sanctuary animals, multiple orgasms, and hunting demons for a hefty paycheck?
I love the use of witchy language in these, it makes them really fun. “Not today, bwitch!” “Oh, hex me!” Not a huge fan of the phrase “lady bits”…that’s really my only complaint lol. It stops after a few and then the spicy scenes are extra spicy and the banter is such a great time. Can’t wait for the 3rd which should be Olly’s story…and then maybe a 4th for Harper?!

Thoroughly enjoyed Rose and Damian's story, it had grumpy/sunshine vibes, action sequences and lively banter. After a one night stand several months ago, Rose and Damian find themselves in each other's orbit again and sparks once again fly. Though they both swear that they will stay away from each other, they find that to be impossible.
With demon hunting shenanigans, rescuing animals and navigating family issues, Roe and Damian find themselves getting closer and falling for each other.
I enjoyed their journey and their friends and family's schemes to get them together, it was highly entertaining.

Rose, the former Prima has a one-night stand with Damian, a grumpy half-demon, & neither of them thinks that they’ll cross paths again. Fast forward to a rescue attempt gone wrong, these two are thrown together due to Rose’s mandatory community service.

This was a cute read filled with supernatural creatures and a lot of steam between the main characters. Rose & Damian's relationship started off as a one-night stand that made their banter more of "lust" than "love" for pretty much the entire book.

Most of the chapters felt boring to me & I lost interest a lot. But I really liked the plot of Damian's past hex & how he overcame it.
Overall, it was an okay-ish read for me.

Thank you Netgalley and publisher for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

First, I want to say you really should read Not the Witch You Wed before you read this one. I had not started with the first in the series, that being said, this nevertheless was a fun witchy romp.

Trope-y but fun thanks not only to the paranormal additions = Rose is a witch and Damien is half Demon- but also to the bright writing and good sense of humor. Rose and Damien find themselves falling for one another after she's sent to do community service at the animal shelter where he's the vet but the path to true love isn't easy when there are demons witches and others around. This is the second in a series of sorts but it's perfectly enjoyable as a standalone. Thanks to Netgalley for the ArC. A hoot in spots.

I love witchy rom-coms. They make my heart happy. This installment in this series was no exception.

I found myself drawn in with book one and these Maxwell sisters antics. With book one ending with Rose no longer being the Prima Apparent, this one starts off with Rose trying to find her way - and in true Maxwell sister fashion, she finds herself in all kinds of trouble. Mainly - a certain sexy veterinarian she’s stuck doing community service for.

In true rom-com fashion this book is crazy predictable. You know where it’s going immediately but the road to get there is hilarious and worth the ride. I definitely enjoyed it.

I want to thank NetGalley for the ebook!

**I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and this is my honest review**

First, while I had seen the first book in Supernatural Singles in several places, I have not read it yet. So I went into this book pretty blindly but curious.

This book can stand-alone easily. I was able to figure out the world and character dynamics with the information the author gave early on and it didn't feel like I was being hit over the head with a recap of the last book.

I was surprised at how much I loved this book. Damian, the male MC is a grumpy, half-demon, half-human veterinarian with a tortured past. Need I say more?
The female MC, Rose, has got a ton of spunk, is pretty optimistic but not a total sunshiny person, and is trying to find herself after spending her entire life focused on training to be the next Prima.

The banter between these two is fantastic! Often the banter will die down after the couple starts spicing it up, but not in this book. We get witty, sexy, fun banter throughout and I loved it!! The tension between them is the icing on the cake. We get a slowburn and a great reward with some pretty frequent spice in the last half of the book. There's just the right amount of drama not only between the characters but also within their own backstories and lives. I got fully invested in this world and wanted the book to keep going so I could see more of Rose and Damian's life!

I think my only "eh" moment was the reveal at the end. I don't know if it was because it felt a little rushed or too simple of a fix after the buildup or what. But I was still there for the grandness of the gesture in all it's sorta cheesy glory. At that point the author had me so invested in this couple that I was just happy for them.

Overall a surprising 5 star read. I really enjoyed this book and will be checking out the first one in the series as soon as I can!

This book had a great premise but was really let down by the execution.

Rose (witch) and Damian (half demon) have a hot one night stand, and that’s it. But staying away from each other becomes much more complicated after an animal rescue goes wrong and Rose has to complete community service at Damian’s animal sanctuary.

The world building in this story is just so basic. It’s our world + magic, which has been done successfully many times. But the magical elements just feel so lazy, for example the non magical people are called ‘Norms’(?). The author missed so many opportunities to be fun and create a world that pulls you in. Yet they leaned into the use of such weird ‘magic-isms’ - ‘bwitch’, ‘shiftocracy’. None of which really made sense or were funny. Just because this is a romance doesn’t mean I don’t want a rich and exciting world.

In terms of the actual romance, I actually liked the two lead characters.. Damian was a great, hot and charming and just grumpy enough.. And Rose was really interesting. Someone who had the rug pulled out from her whole life, and is figuring out who she really is is a great character arc. But their problems were not wholly believable, they acted quite irrationally, and so much of the dialogue felt stilted. Again a great start, but just didn’t work for me in the end.

The book started to pick up the pace when we got into the demon hunting. And the back half grabbed my attention more. Overall, it was okay but I’ve read better versions of this type of story.

Read and reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy from NetGalley.

This book was just not for me, even though I expected to enjoy it. Independent female lead, grumpy loner male lead, a little bit of witchcraft... what's not to love?

Plenty, at least for me. The female lead, Rose, seemed bland and not very nice. Perhaps I would have felt differently if I had read the first book in the series, but I wasn't really invested in her journey of self-discovery - and although much was made, at the start of the book, of Rose's need to find herself, that need rarely seemed to drive the plot.

The supernatural world of the novel was also not my favorite. It felt overly elaborate and somewhat random - again, perhaps because I didn't read the first book - and new rules and classes of being appeared apparently at random.

Still, this wasn't a bad book. It was well-written. Damian, the male lead, was a great character. The ending despite feeling as scattershot as the other magical elements of the story, was compelling and emotionally resonant.

Not Your Exe's Hexes is the sequel to Not the Witch You Wed. Had it not been for receiving the ARC of this book via NetGalley and St. Martin's Griffin, I more than likely wouldn't have found this series.

After reading Not the Witch You Wed, I knew that April Asher would be a new favorite paranormal romance author for me; however, I wasn't anticipating the second book to be even better!! The writing in this book is just delectable. I thoroughly enjoyed the dynamics between our two main characters and the extended store that carried on from the first novel. The glossary in the back makes it possible to read this book on its own, but I highly suggest you start with the first to get the full scope of the world. I cannot wait for the next installment and I am hoping that we don't stop with the Maxwell triad! I need a book for Harper and a book for Julius now too!!!

Trained her whole life to be Prima, Rose Maxwell has ceded the title to her sister. Now she’s at odds with what to do with her life. After a serious misstep leads to her serving community service at an animal sanctuary, she finds herself attracted to her boss, half human, half demon, Damian Adams. Who also happens to be a previous one-night stand. Both agree they’re up for a friends-with-benefits only relationship.

This was entertaining, even though I didn’t feel the pull between the two MCs until almost halfway through the book. It wasn’t high on spice or witty banter. It was a cute story, though, and the perfect follow-up to Asher’s earlier book, Not the Witch You Wed. Perfect for Valentine’s Day reading.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC.

I just really enjoy the heck out of this series! These books are just plain FUN!!

This particular story follows Rose Maxwell. Having been training her entire life to be the Prima, following the events of book one she has stepped down and now gets to focus on herself! She actively sets out to find her passion in life and in doing so lands herself in hot water with The Council.

Sentenced to community service at an animal sanctuary she finds that her new boss is the one night stand she has a couple months previously, and the (half) man she can’t get out of her head!

Damian is trying to live a quiet life. The trauma of his childhood as the son of a Prince of Hell, a troubled youth spent as a demonic bounty Hunter, and a hex placed on his very soul has our grumpy hero secluding himself and pushing everyone away. Enter Rose. He can’t get her out of his head and the more time they spend together the more at risk his heart and soul is.

Read this is you like:
-forced proximity
-one night stand turned F buddies turned lovers
-near death experiences
-lots of banter and witchy puns
-senior citizen bingo
-grumpy/sunshine
-a motorcycle riding MC that can cradle baby puppies gently but ravish in the bedroom.
-sister and brother bonds
-lots and lots of Buffy references!

All in all- I enjoyed this one just as much as I enjoyed the first book and I can’t wait for the next book!

Sweet and funny, I enjoyed this fresh romcom where a witch trying to find her place in the world finds her calling helping a half-demon vet raise funds for his animal sanctuary. Of course, shenanigans ensue (medium spice level) and questions arise-can a soul hex be broken? Are they dated mates? This comes out February 7th, perfect timing for a little Valentine’s reading.

From the publisher:

For her entire life, Rose Maxwell trained to become the next Prima on the Supernatural Council. Now that she’s stepped down, it’s time for this witch to focus on herself. And not think about her impulsive one-night stand with Damian Adams, a half-Demon Veterinarian who she can’t get out of her head. Neither of them is looking for a relationship. But when Rose is sentenced to community service at Damian’s animal sanctuary it becomes impossible for them to ignore their sparking attraction. A friends-with-benefits, no feelings, no strings arrangement works perfectly for them both.

After a sequence of dead-end jobs, it’s not until Rose tangos with two snarly demons that she thinks she’s finally found her path. However, this puts Damian back on the periphery of a world he thought he left behind. He doesn’t approve of Rose becoming a Hunter, but if there's one thing he's learned about the stubborn witch, it was telling her not to do something was one sure-fire way to make sure she did.

Working—and sleeping—together awakens feelings Damian never knew he had...and shouldn't have. Because thanks to his ex's hex, if he falls in love, he'll not only lose his heart—but his humanity.

My review:
Rose and Damian are supernatural. She’s a witch, he’s half demon. I really like books where the supes are just out living life and they have regular “norm” problems. This is the second book in a series and I didn’t read the first but it stands alone just fine. (I will go back and read the first though!)

Rose isn’t sure what her path is in life (not the heir apparent witch, not a good ride share driver, not a bartender) and Damian the sexy veterinarian has been hexed so that he can’t really fall in love, or else. They both love animals and have some “do gooder” tendencies. Regular rom-com tropes are plentiful in this book and they play out well. They don’t like each other at first, but they definitely respect each other and grow from there. There are even life threatening problems and common enemies! I enjoyed the dialogue in the book as well as the secondary characters. I look forward to more about Rose’s sister Olive and maybe even their succubus (lol) friend Harper. Plus, the racy scenes were fun ;). The supernatural aspects of the book lift this up and make it more than a run of the mill rom-com.

Entertaining, fun, kept me reading!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martins for an advance digital copy of this book in exchange for my review.

I will leave a review on Amazon and B&N on February 7th

Not Your Ex's Hexes is the second book in the series, and this was a new author for me. I really enjoyed Damian's character, Rose really not so much. Overall this was a good read, but in my opinion not a great read. Having said that I would recommend it to others because I realize not everyone enjoys the same books.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for free, and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

The writing and characters both felt a little too immature for my liking.

Not Your Ex's Hexes was a cute follow-up to Not the Witch You Wed. April Asher has created a magical, supernatural world that is fun to be in. While this book didn't wow me as much as the first one, it was still enjoyable.

This book is the story of the middle triplet, Rose, and begins after she steps down as Prima Apparent to let Violet take her rightful role. Rose is now excited to be able to discover what she wants to do with her life without rules and regulations weighing her down. After a misguided attempt to rescue some malnourished horses, she ends up with community service hours at the animal sanctuary, that just happens to be owned by the sexy half demon, Damian, who she had an exciting evening with a few months ago. They are immediately attracted to each other but must also deal with Damian's hex that prevents him from falling in love.

I thought this book contained a few too many elements. Rose was all over the place with trying to find herself, and what she ended up doing totally baffles me because I thought there was a clear strength in another field. Damian was an interesting character. I loved the grumpy vibe he had going on, and his chemistry with Rose was spicy. He had commitment hang-ups but decent reasons for them. I do wish the hex would have been a little more explored because it felt too vague to really make me concerned. The world itself was fun. I love the magical realm inside a modern day NYC, where supernatural beings and "norms" coexist. I do think reading the glossary at the end would be helpful prior to reading the book.

If you are in the mood for a lighthearted, paranormal read, I would suggest this series. While the first book was stronger for me, I was still entertained by this follow up. I am excited for Olive's book featuring Bax, which was set up well in this book.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for the e-copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

A continuation of the first novel, This is Rose' story She was due to be the Prima and trained for it her entire life, however it wasn't her fate. Love and finding herself are the central focus of this take. It can be read as a standalone. Once you start, I have to warn you, you'll get sucked in and want to read all of the books in this series. Some of your favorite characters are back as well as new ones.

This was like a cute RomCom version of AHS Coven, and I enjoyed it! I liked the tropes and the set up that was occurring.

Damian and Rose were the perfect opposites attract and their banter was cute.
Def a good palette cleanser for me before I went into my Dark Fantasy ARCs and reads for 2023.

I actually didnt realize there was a book 1, but when I realized it, I was already half way through this book. I may go back and read book 1 and I might even read book 3.
It gave me a lighthearted vibe.
