April Asher
Not Your Ex's Hexes (Supernatural Singles Book 2)
Rose and Damien
This was my favorite romcom! It was that good, and funny, with loads of snark.
I received a free copy of this book from NetGalley and I am leaving a review.

Another great story in this series! I love the world that April Asher has created. The push and pull between Damian and Rose was great. Watching him fight falling in love with her hurt my heart. I loved the way Rose changed throughout the story. So good!

This is apparently book 2 in a series, but can work as a standalone despite not knowing some characters back stories. Rose is trying to figure out what to do with her life after stepping down as the future Prima of the council. This leads to an ill-fated rescue attempt of some horses and then being forced to volunteer at Damien's animal sanctuary.

Not Your Ex's Hexes was a fun read featuring a romance between a witch and a half-demon.

Rose Maxwell spent her entire life training to become the next Prima on the Supernatural Council and now that she's stepped down, she doesn't know what to do with her life. To make matters worse she's sentenced to community service at the animal sanctuary owned by Damian Adams, the half-demon she had a one-night stand with and has been avoiding ever since. When Rose ends up tagging along with Damian on a hunt for two demons, Rose thinks she's finally found her true calling. But spending so much time with Rose is putting Damian's heart and soul at risk thanks to his ex's hex that states if he falls in love, he'll lose his humanity.

Rose's character intrigued me in Not the Witch You Wed and I was curious where she would end up after Violet took over as Prima. I liked that when this book starts, she still hasn't figured out what she wants to do with her life and goes through several jobs that aren't the right fit. Damian was an interesting character as we don't know much about him when the book starts and I was intrigued to learn more with the bits we did get. I liked how passionate he was about the animal sanctuary and that he was willing to do whatever it took to help the animals under his care.

The romance was where this book fell a part a little for me as I didn't love Rose and Damian together. My biggest issue was that I ultimately didn't like the way Damian treated Rose for a lot of the book. He's very dismissive of her ideas and has a tendency to try and tell her what she's allowed to do. Thankfully Rose pretty much ignores him when he tries to control her but that didn't make him doing it any less annoying. They do end up working that out before the end of the book and I was ultimately happy with the direction their romance went.

Overall Not Your Ex's Hexes was an enjoyable read and I'm looking forward to reading Olive's book soon.

I found April Asher’s writing to charming in Not the Witch You Wed, so I was excited to fully lean into the Halloween Spirit and read Not Your Ex’s Hexes. It was so fun to revisit this world and follow Rose’s newly found freedom alongside Damian’s struggle to forge his own pathway and run from his father’s lifestyle. For a book that hinges on a “friends-with-benefits” arrangement, I didn’t find it to be overly spicy on page, but I did enjoy watching their “no emotions” agreement crumble as they opened up to each other more.

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the advanced reader copy.

An excellent sequel to the Supernatural Singles series! I think I liked this one more than the first book. This story focuses on Rose and Damian's story in which they have a one night stand but seem to keep running into each other afterwards, which ultimately turns into a friends with benefits situation. We all know how those turn out. I loved seeing Rose grow into her powers as well as how her relationship with Damian eventually turns into something more.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book! I am loving the trend of witchy romances. I saved this one for the fall and loved it!

We did not enjoy this book and it was a struggle to get to the finish line. We just were not invested in either of the characters or the storyline. The enemies part didn't make sense, and nothing really came together for us.

Not Your Ex's Hexes was a lot of fun! I especially liked the urban fantasy aspect of the book - the supernaturals in the modern world, coexisting with humans, and having normal problems and jobs. I loved the world-building aspect of the book. I also loved the Maxwell sisters since they are such chaotic badasses (proven by the first chapter of the book).

I had fun reading about Rose and Damian, though I had to admit I didn't get any chemistry from them and their romance didn't convince me at all. I preferred reading Rose's chapters away from Damian than the ones with romance in them. I loved the animal sanctuary aspect of the book.

Overall, it was a fun, cosy read! Will read Olive and Bax's book!

This was such a fun and sexy read. I love a grumpy/sunshine couple and these two were just delightful. Can't wait to read the rest of the series.

I almost forgot how much I loved this series but I was quickly reminded with this book. So cute and flirty and fun and spicy! This is the perfect book for fans of supernatural, charmed, and spooky season! Now on to the next one…

This book was a quick and light read. I did enjoy what the author did with this second book in the series (the premise and character development). I enjoyed it enough to where I will definitely be reading the first - Not the Witch you Wed. Witchy rom-coms seriously are one of my favourites and this one didn’t disappoint. Damian is dreamy and the plot of the story was really enjoyable for me. I loved the witty banter, the premise as mentioned above already, and the setting of the book.

This was so much fun! This was a first-time read for me from April Asher but it certainly won't be my last! Even though this is the second in the Supernatural Singles series, I was able to easily get involved into the story line and get to know the back story of characters especially the couple who was highlighted in the first book. Rose Maxwell was such a wonderful character and I couldn't help but root for her throughout the entire book, from dealing with stubborn horses (who live at animal rescues belonging to an equally as stubborn yet handsome half-demon vet) to fighting off magical beings in the middle of Times Square. Damian was also so well written and I was able to truly feel for him whenever he discussed his back story and how he came to be. Having both MCs being animal lovers was truly perfect and seeing them both bond over taking care of the sanctuary's animals was well done! Even more excited to read Not Your Crush's Cauldron which is the next in the series!

Thank you so much to St.Martin's Press and NetGalley for providing me a copy of this digital ARC

So I didn't get to this series last fall with Not the Witch You Wed, but I am so happy that I prioritized it this year! I really enjoy the supernatural mashups in the series, and the wit and personality are pure perfection. I keep staying up way past my bedtime to finish these! So much fun!

Reading the synopsis, I thought I would absolutely fall in love with this book, and while I did enjoy it I didn't fall in love with it. This was mostly due to Rose being so freaking stubborn, I just wanted to reach into the book and shake her. I did love Damien, the grumpy reformed bad boy with a gooey cinnamon roll center. He really was the highlight of the book. While I would normally love some sibling banter, I felt it was just a lot and most of it just felt like filler.

Overall, an okay witchy romance

April was a new to me author with this series and I have to say I'm having the best time with it. Highly recommend. Can't wait to get to book 3!

Not Your Ex' Hexes is just what the "Doc" ordered....Dr. Demon Daddy Damian that is! :) Trust me, this is the medicine for whatever reading slump currently ails you.

April Asher is two for two in my book with the Supernatural Singles series. This series is paranormal romcom gold and perfect for October! It felt great to be back with the Maxwell triplets and see what kind of shenanigans they were able to get up to. Rose is trying to find her way after handing the Prima Apparent to the rightful owner, Vi, she is struggling to find her calling. After attempting a horse heist, Rose is tasked with righting her wrongs against a former one night stand. This grump/sunshine, forced proximity, friends with bennies romcom is sure to put a spell on you!

This was an unfortunate DNF for me.

I was excited to have been approved for an advanced copy by NetGalley. I had expected this one to make it to the top of my list. I loooove a good supernatural romance. However, I couldn’t make it that far into the book. I would pick it up, read some, forget about it, read some more and here we are today. The book has long since been released. It’s time to face the facts, I will not finish it. I May at some point pick it up on my own and give it a second try.

Oooh this one was better than Not the Witch You Wed! I didn't fully love Not the Witch You Wed, the Prima machinations/politics were a little much for me. But a vet? Yes please. And the curse? I really liked how it needed to be broken. I'm definitely ready for Bax, I've enjoyed him as a side character in the first 2 books!

Not Your Ex's Hexes is the second book in April Asher's Supernatural Singles series, and dare I say it, I liked it even better than the first.
Witchcraft, fun banter, charming characters, believable love story, just about the right amount of spice.
Very nice palette cleanser to read during spooky season when all the horror gets to be a little much. And lucky me, I already have an ARC for the next book in the series!
