This was such a delightful read! I enjoy this author’s style with her leading ladies. It was nice to get to learn more about the “perfect sister” we meet in the first book. If you were a fan of the first book in the series you have to check this one out!

The perfect witchy rom-com. From one-night stand to forced proximity to lovers, Rose meets her match in the half-demon Damian. The former Prima Apparent is trying to find herself after stepping away from the title as Future Head-Witch in Charge. Rose gets into trouble resulting in her being forced into close proximity to her one and only one-night stand. Because of an old hex, Damian does his best to not get too close to Rose. A wonderful sequel to Not the Witch You Wed!

Such a great sequel to the first book! I loved the humor, easy to read and super cute. I loved the body positivity, we definitely need more of these. Thank you so much NetGalley and April Asher for allowing me to read this ARC!

REVIEW: Not Your Ex’s Hexes ARC
Rating: ✨3.5/5✨
Spice: 🌶️🌶️
Plot: It bounced around a bit, but it was solid
Romance: ♥️♥️♥️
This book was an average read for me. I didn’t read the first book in the series, but I got all I needed from book 2. The book is about Rose, who was the Witch Prima Apparent until her sister came into power. She stepped down and is now trying to find her way in life.
I also love rescue stories as a mom to my little rescue doggie.
❣️SPOILERS BELOW❣️
Rose is likable and fun. She is a troublemaker and stubborn, and she has a good heart. Her good heart comes into play when she finds two horses she thinks are being abused and goes to rescue them illegally. It gets awkward when she finds out that she was stealing them from an animal sanctuary with a vet already caring for them. Enter Damian, the half-demon with whom she had a one-night stand at the beginning of the book.
A few things come to mind that bother me about this book. The first hookup — can be removed. It plays no relevance to the plot. Second, the creation of the language (ex: bwitch = bitch + witch). I’m sorry, but that made me cringe so much. Much of the introduced language does, as well as the mention of the Jonas Brothers. Hex me, can stay. The rest, not so much.
I also feel like the story wrapped kind of abruptly. I wanted more of the sanctuary fundraiser and how Rose chose her new path. We just get told at the end about her being a Hunter in training. Honestly, it doesn’t make sense. I wish we had a better epilogue than just setting up the next book.
I liked the romance and the hex plotline. The author has a gift there; she needs to hold back a little. I like that Rose and Damian are soul mates, but it’s barely explained. Maybe in Olive’s book, we’ll see more of them like we did Violet and Linc. I don’t know.
This was a good read, if not rough around the edges. Like seriously needs a deep edit. I caught MANY mixed phrases. One thing was kitty-corner when they meant caddy-corner.
A solid read needs a bit more polish.

I enjoyed Not The Witch You Wed last year and was excited to read the follow up Not Your Ex’s Hexes. Book two follows middle Maxwell sister, Rose and half-demon, Damian. Damian was cursed by an ex with a soul curse making it impossible for him to fall In love. But sparks fly when Rose is forced to do community service at Damian’s animal rescue.
What I liked: You could read this as a stand-alone but you’d miss some of the backstory. That being said, I liked this book more than the first. There is less need to lay background and characters, so the author can jump into the plot.
The book has some truly laugh out loud banter. The dialogue is good without being cheesy.
Rose and Damian deciding to be friends with benefits allows for some steamy scenes.
What didn’t work for me: I didn’t fully understand the curse aspect.
I think how the magical world and normal world interact could be explored more. Norms (the non magical characters) seem to know about magic to some degree, but it’s not mentioned in a bigger scheme. For example, while hunting (essentially bounty hunting wanted magical creatures), they destroy parts of the city - it’s not mentioned how they will explain this or any repercussions.
Who should read it: you want a contemporary romance with a magical twist. Think Charmed with more romance.
I can’t wait for Olivia’s book and hopefully Harper gets a story, too.

There is just something about a cute witchy romantic comedy that just always makes me happy. Thankfully, Not Your Exe’s Hex did just that.
A confused yet badass powerful witch who stages a horse freedom run and a half-demon veterinarian who is secretly a cinnamon roll? Sign me up!
While I haven’t read the first book in this series, the fact that the books can be read as a standalone was great! I’ll definitely be going back and reading the first one though, that is for sure.
I will definitely be reading more books by this author in the future!

This was a great sequel to the first book. A fun witchy romance and I love the plus size representation. I look forward to more books from this author.

this was such a cute sequel to the first book! I loved reading about the relationship between Rose and Damian developing. The banter between them was perfect and had me laughing out loud. I really enjoyed seeing more of the sisters in this story too. The relationship between the three of them is hilarious. This book was spicy and entertaining.

3/5 stars - A romantic, light, fluffy book with witty witches, growly demons, and all manner of supernatural creatures living life in regular society. Damian's and Rose's relationship is the focus of the story and fun and steamy to follow.

Another winner from April Asher. I adored Not The Witch You Wed and Not Your Ex's Hexes was just as good. Loved the magic, the creatures, the steam, and getting a sneak peek at our next couple. I love the animal rescue aspects and how badass Rose is. Of course, the getting over past traumas and lies they believe about themselves is always key in a romance, but I didn't hate the way this one played out. There was a lot less will they won't they and a lot more tension and spice. I was here for it. Though, as a sister to 3 they sure do get frisky around their siblings a lot--which is a bit odd. Who am I to judge with men like Link and Damian around? I'll be snagging myself a copy when this releases.

Synopsis with some spoilers:
This is the second book of a spicy paranormal romance series surrounding three witch sisters. The author gives enough information that you can read it as a stand-alone like I did! This book follows Rose and her quest to find her passion and purpose in life, when she comes across a scorching demon named Damian. Naturally they decide to not have feelings for each other and keep it friends with benefits! Unfortunately right when they start to be getting cozy, Damian’s dark past comes back to bite him.
I really enjoyed this book especially the spice, easy to love cinnamon roll alpha men, and the powerful, badass females! Definitely an easy read with plenty of action and drama to keep you entertained!

Oh man was I so looking forward to reading this book and it did not disappoint. I really loved Not the witch you wed and this was just as great. Rose Maxwell has always had to be a goody goody as next Prima she couldn’t put a foot wrong but with her sister Violet now on the road to being Prima she can now figure out what she wants to do with her life. After her impulsive one night stand with Damian Adams, a half demon vet and who is best friends with her sisters Violets husband, who she can’t get out of her head but insists she isn’t interested in a relationship right now. She ends up having to do community service at Damien’s animal sanctuary while trying out a friends with benefits arrangement with Damian which backfires since they are made for each other apart from the hex Damien is under from his ex. You definitely have to read the first book since this is a direct sequel to it and it is just so much fun to read and I really enjoyed getting more time with the other sisters and the mom and grandma as well. This was a great book I plowed through it and I can’t wait to read the next one about the other triplet Olive.
Thanks to St. Martins Griffin and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book in e-book form. All opinions in this review are my own.

This was such a cute second installment! I loved Damien and Rose's banter. I laughed and mushed the whole time. We are following Rose who is trying to figure out her life after book one. She goes on an animal rescue mission of emaciated horses at an animal sanctuary and has to complete community service with Damian, the grumpy vet. Can't wait to read Olive's story!

I love anything supernatural, especially witches!! Then throw in a grumpy and sexy devil, I’m in!! I loved reading this book, Couldn’t help but laugh out loud! I recommended this books ANY supernatural lovers!!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Griffin for the ARC copy to review. This book comes out February 7, 2023!!
Rose Maxwell is on the path of becoming the next prima or head witch in charge until her sister, Violet, comes into her powers and takes the place as prima apparent. This leaves Rose struggling to figure out what to do with her life. Rose tries to save two “suffering” horses only to find out they were in a horse sanctuary. Rose is forced to do community service at the sanctuary, where she works with broody veterinarian, Damian Adams. Rose is convinced that she can save the failing sanctuary while trying not to fall for Damian.
The premise of this story was pretty cute. I liked that it was a supernatural romance, but it didn’t try too hard to make everything super mystical and over-explained. However, I think the author relied too heavily on other supernatural worlds that already exist. She referenced Buffy, Supernatrual, and Hocus Pocus in the 300 page book. And I also felt Vampire Diaries vibes throughout her writing. It was just too much for me, and she should’ve focused more on her own world building.
I was really happy with the ending of the story. I thought it was adorable. The character development with Damian and Rose was paced nicely, and it felt realistic for their ending.

First off I would like to thank April Asher, St. Martin’s Publishing, and Netgalley for sending me an eARC. I would also like to give my close friend, Taylor, a shoutout for getting me hooked on this series and author.
So far, book 2 is my favorite. The banter between the main characters is what I lived off of. The spice for this book was like “alrighty I need a cold shower,” or in other terms I freaking loved every word of it. Then just the build up throughout the whole book was incredible and left me dying for more by the end. I loved also seeing the return of all the other characters from book 1, okay maybe not all of them. The way Asher was really able to get my emotions going was really incredible, too.
And if ya’ll have been following me long enough you know that I am really picky with my RomComs, but this one hit all my RomComs points. I seriously can’t wait for book 3, cause now I’m fully invested and need to know about the last sister.
Not Your Exe’s Hexes out 2/7/23. Preorder now!

Part of series this is about Rose who is training to be the next Prima of the Clan and her one night encounter with Damian a half demon veterinarian that lead to Rose begining arresterd for trying to recuse horses
That when all the fun magic, demons and romance begins.
Enjoyed reading.
Vluntarily reviewed.

A fun, saucy romp through the supernatural world. Rose Maxwell, one of the magical Maxwell triplets, is at loose ends since her sister Violet came into her powers (see book 1) and took Rose's place in training to be the next Prima. Her one pleasant distraction is a one-night stand with a sexy blonde stranger who--of course--then shows up when Rose is apprehended in the middle of Operation Equine Freedom (hint: it involves breaking the law.)
Damian Adams has tried to quell his demon half by focusing his human skills as a veterinarian. When Rose's sentence of community service puts her in his orbit, it seems like a good idea (doesn't it always?) to have a second night stand, and then a third. But when Rose discovers she might actually be good at Hunting--demon hunting, that is--Damian believes he has to stop her from getting hurt. He also has to stop himself from falling in love, because he's under a hex (cast by the titular ex) that means, if he does ever lose his heart, the last of his humanity will disappear along with it.
If that curse seems rather Angel-esque to you, that's not the only Buffyverse vibe that Asher's world gives off. It's full of supernatural critters, from sarcastic succubi to shifters. But Asher puts her own stamp on things (Rose's hands glow pink when she uses her magic) and the focus is solidly enough on the romance that the supernatural elements add ambiance rather than feeling derivative. Those who like their chemistry crackling, the banter swift, and the baddies with just enough bite to keep things interesting will want to devour this book.

What to expect: one night stand, witch & demon with a FWB arrangement, hot vet like Ted from Schitt’s Creek, tall & curvy FMC, magic
Thank you to NetGalley and April Asher for the ARC of this one! Once I finished Not The Witch You Wed I RAN to NetGalley to request this because I had to know the rest of Roses story after the ending of the first book.
I really love how humorous these books are! The chapter titles are amazing, and usually said somewhere in the chapter which was really fun.
I had such a fun time reading this, from the No Pants Express to Rose and her sisters. You know I love a book with strong female characters who are not afraid to kick ass (literally)!!
This is a great series for fans of witchy romcoms and perfect for spooky season, so keep this one on your list for next year - but it does come out in February 2023 if you’re looking to read it sooner!

This was super cute! I need to read the first book I adored both Rose and Damian they had a super fun relationship and I like how the conflict was handled. I do also love Rose’s relationship with her sisters and how Damian’s demon nature and relationship with his brother were handled. I adored that he was a precious sensitive little Vet and that he had his little group of friends. I also liked how the curse was handled and how the whole world and friend group was explored. I adore witchy books and this was a fun little witch romcom that didn't have that much magic in it but was still super fun. I am excited to read the first and next books.
