This was super cute! I need to read the first book I adored both Rose and Damian they had a super fun relationship and I like how the conflict was handled. I do also love Rose’s relationship with her sisters and how Damian’s demon nature and relationship with his brother were handled. I adored that he was a precious sensitive little Vet and that he had his little group of friends. I also liked how the curse was handled and how the whole world and friend group was explored. I adore witchy books and this was a fun little witch romcom that didn't have that much magic in it but was still super fun. I am excited to read the first and next books.

This was a fantastic follow up to Not the Witch You Wed. Second up, Rose is one of the Maxwell magical triad. Although this story focuses on Rose and grumpy vet Damian Adams, I loved the glimpses we got back into Vi and Linc’s current life post epilogue.
Asher does a fabulous job of showing us the magical world we are in, with realistic tie ins to NYC. This is a humorous, fun read with tons of banter and plenty of angst.

This series has an interesting premise, following triplets who are witches in a magical world which also includes shifters, demons, angels, and vampires.

Unfortunately, I dislike the writing and characterization too much to continue.
For all it’s “naughty” language, it’s incredibly juvenile. The main characters are 30 year old women who act like socially stunted teenagers.

I read this sequel hoping that it would be better than the first book, but it was worse.

This was a cute sequel to Not The Witch You Wed. I loved getting to know Rose better and Damian is the supernatural hunk we all dream about: bad boy turned caring veterinarian.

I liked this one just a little less than NYWYW and I think it is because the first one was a delightful
surprise while I expected to like this one. I was a little disappointed with Rose’s ending and I kind of felt like the story ended quite abruptly, like all of a sudden, there is the epilogue!

If you like the grumpy/sunshine trope, you’ll like this one. Damian’s grumpiness is warranted considering hispast and I really liked watching watching Rose break down those guarded, grumpy walls.

A big thanks to NetGalley and @stmartinspress for the free digital copy in exchange for my honest review. I can’t wait to add this one to my witchy collection!

5 out of 5 non-hexed stars!

Thank you NetGalley, author April Asher, and St. Martin’s Press for providing an eARC copy. My review is voluntary and completely my own.

This is the second Supernatural Singles book. You do not necessarily need to read the first to enjoy this one. In short, it’s about a witch named Rose Maxwell who has a “no strings attached” deal with a grumpy, broody half demon named Damian. Throughout the story Rose is trying to find herself after she no longer is set to become the Supernatural Prima. Damian and Rose also deal with their growing feelings for one another while Damien has a soul hex from by his ex-girlfriend.

There was A LOT to love about this story. It gives major warm and fuzzy vibes, while bringing about strong characters—notably strong female characters. Rose Maxwell is independent, strong, and a force to be reckoned with. She leads the story. Though she’s trying to find what she’s good at throughout the story, she never strays from who she is as an individual. She remains confident and pushes through her obstacles.
The spice was stellar and greatly contributed to the story and Rose and Damian’s arc.
I enjoyed the banter between characters, especially while Rose was hunting supernatural creatures. Gotta love the Buffy the Vampire Slayer references.

It’s also the perfect combination of romance and comedy, plus well developed themes of finding what you’re good at when life goals are altered, and coming to terms with your past while discovering your new reality.

I have not read the first in the series (it’s on my TBR!) but still enjoyed this one.

Another amazingly cute read. This one was just as good as the first one, and was the perfect magical rom com read.

This book picks up with Rose Maxwell joy long after the first book ends. We see Linc and Vi do their bonding ceremony and Rose figure out her shit. I will say that I never liked Rose that much, but she was a good character to follow here, especially with Damian and the animal sanctuary.

Damian was a fantastic character that had a lot to work through but I do think that the author put more details into book one and their backstory and just assumed that everyone will like this book based on that. I just felt like I didn’t connect to the characters here as much.

This was hands down the most adorable thing I read this fall and it hit all the points for me. Headstrong, sassy witch? Check. Broody hero with a heart of gold? Check. Strong family/friends dynamic? Check. Funny shenanigans? Check. Romance? Check. Check. Check.
Seriously, I've been searching for a witchy romcom that gets me this happy and this book had a smile on my face for half of it. Im a huge fan! Already mentioned it on the podcast and recommended it to a dozen reader friends. When a book hits the spot, it hits the spot!

Not your Ex's Hexes is the next book in April Asher's Supernatural singles, involving Rose, second youngest of the three triplet sisters, and Damian a half demon who has turned his act around from his teenage years.

This book is more about the love story than the paranormal part, but the supernatural is sprinkled nicely throughout. Rose and Damian have great chemistry and any book that includes animals, especially puppies will always have a place in my heart. Rose and Damian get off to have a great start with a one night stand, and continues with Rose attempting to rescue an already rescued horse from Damian's Animal Sanctuary.
Throughout her hours of community service Rose and Damian agree to a friends with benefits arrangement, but Damian has to be careful of his hex, that ensures if he falls in love he will lose both his heart and soul.
Along the way we get to witness Rose and Damians hilarious banter, and fun adventures including bounty hunting, bingo and puppy rescues. We continue to catch glimpses of Roses sisters, and the building of anticipation for Olive's story, which I am super excited for!
As with her previous book, this book contains some excellent spice, and the chemistry between Rose and Damian feels natural. Also included is a touch of enemies to lovers, one night stands, and forced proximity. Predictable at times, but if you're looking for a sweet, low stakes supernatural love story I would suggest checking this series out.

I’m conflicted about what to rate this book. I loved the characters and the world we are in but it felt like there were too many storylines going on.

I did love the Pop Culture mixed with humor the book had going on. Even the chapter titles were funny!

All in all it was a good book & should be checked out.
(I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review. )

✨️ Not Your Ex's Hexes ✨️

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Finished: 11/23/22

The sequel to Not the Witch You Wed, this supernatural romantic comedy was really cute! I actually enjoyed this story over the first book. It features Rose, who has to do community service at an animal sanctuary, and encounters someone she had a one night stand with who is the veterinarian.

I really enjoyed the supernatural elements in this series. Damian is a half demon, and Rose is a witch. In this world, humans do know that vampires and shifters and more are real and coexist together.

When Rose starts to come into the sanctuary regularly, they agree to have a friends with benefits agreement. But things aren't as simple as they seem when they start to develop feelings for each other.

The only complaint I have is there was too much dialogue for Olive and her roommate situation. I think it could have been cut way down to only 2 or 3 conversations. But I will be excited to read the book for her. 😊

Thank you, NetGalley, for this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

Huge thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s for my earc!

I absolutely loved this one as much as the first one. Damian and Rose were phenomenal characters. I loved their chemistry so much.

Their banter has me laughing so much. Seeing Damian fall for Rose was so sweet and adorable. Just love their relationship so much.

I can’t wait for Olive’s story next!

Not Your Ex’s Hexes is another one of those books where I read the second book first before the first one. Which, I don’t really think you need to read the first one first. It’s okay to read them out of order as they focus on the love life of a different sibling. But I digress. Rose was training to be the Prima her entire life until her older sister finally came into her magic. She now gets to live life the way she wants to. Which got her into some trouble with the law.

Having to do time at the local animal shelter in town with a half-demon grumpy veterinarian, Rose finally finds her calling along with getting roped into some hunting by his brother. It also started with a one-night stand. The relationship budding between the two is… fantastic. I loved the banter. I loved the sparks. I loved everything about it. I truly enjoyed the magic in this book and every character too. Would I read this again? Yes. Will I buy this? Yes.

Thanks to St. Martin’s Griffin and Netgalley for the early arc in exchange for an honest review.

This was a tough one to get through. I wanted so badly to love it but it just dragged on and took me too long to get through it.

Not Your Ex's Hexes is a great lighthearted paranormal romance featuring a half demon and a witch. Our protagonist links up not long after a memorable night together and agree to a no strings attached relationship.

I loved the concept of Not Your Ex's Hexes. First, we have Daiman who has changed his life around after a nasty hex was placed on him as a teen. Daiman's personality meshed well with confident headstrong Rose who allows her heart to make her decisions. Their relationship was fun to watch. But even more fun were the chaos triplets known as the Maxwell sisters.

I recommend not your Ex's Hexes if you're in the mood for a paranormal, bad boy, opposites attract romance with a hint of chaotic sisters in the mix.

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's press for the advanced reader's copy.

Super cute sequel to the first book! I highly recommend that you do read the first book to get full context for this story as there is some background that you can't fully comprehend or get the full context unless you read the first book.

The romance plot is typical and done very cutely. One night stand - meet again in the future - enemies to lovers.

The banter between the two main characters was super fun and their chemistry was hot hot hot.

I wish that that were more uses of Rose's, the main characters, magic. There were only simple small references or uses of it. I really wish there was a larger part of magic in the book since it is a paranormal witch romance.

I can't wait for the continued stories of the rest of the characters!

Small annoyance - I didn't like the "bwitch" term that was used throughout the book, like just say bitch.

I'm not a big fan of spooky books, but this one was great! April has such a way of making the inplausible seem totally real and normal. It's such a fun take on a romcom. I loved the premise and how Rose is really going through it, and then Damian just happens.

The whole thing was so clever and fun to read!

April Asher reels their reader in with their witchy characters and broody love interests. As Rose and Damian enter into their friends-with-benefits situationship, I was blown away by the tension. Not only is this book an incredible representation of lust and yearning, it provides elements of comedy to soften the mood, making these relationships so palpable and believable. This sequel really showcases Asher's talents at world building, character development, tension making, and mind-blowing romance. If you are someone who loves rom-coms and witches, this is the perfect book for you. It doesn't take itself too seriously, as Rose and Damian don't take their initial encounters at first, making for one entertaining read that you won't want to miss. Quick witted and very sexy, Not Your Ex's Hexes has solidified itself as a yearly reading for spooky season.

This was an enjoyable story. I like the characters especially Damian. Rose & Damian’s banter was priceless. Definitely a enjoyable story with amazing characters. The only thing that bugged me was that Rose just didn’t take somethings seriously. But overall a good book.
