Thank you to the author, publisher & NetGalley for letting me read this book early.

Tropes/topics: witches, shifters, demons, mutual pining, forced proximity, grumpy sunshine ish, friends with benefits,

I felt like I was thrown into the book in an awkward way. I was super confused in the beginning & I couldn’t figure out who the main character was for a bit. I didn’t realize this was a book 2. When I request books on NetGalley they don’t say if it’s a part of a series. I don’t normally look up if it is & I definitely should. This is considered a series standalone so it might not be too complicated but there are crossover characters.

This book was adorable. I loved it once I understood what was going on. Damian (a demon) & Rose (a witch) are the perfect match. Damian is a vet with a pet sanctuary that Rose has to do community service at. Her ideas to better the place are wonderful & as much as he doesn’t want to admit it. Damien was also hexed by his ex 18 years ago to never know true love & happiness.

The subway scene was truly hilarious & I wish it had been longer. I truly had my heart break multiple times while reading this book. I wasn’t expecting to love it so much! I don’t want to spoil anything but just know once you pick this up you won’t want to put it down.

Definitely pick up this book & series!

This book was a PERFECT paranormal romcom! It had all my favorite tropes, and my favorite grumpy sunshine male character with a bad ass female main character! I read Not the Witch you Wed in my October reads and I was so excited to read this before it's release day - and dare I say, I loved this book more than the first. [Which doesn't happen very often when reading a series that changes main characters the way this did.]

Now that Rose is no longer the Prima Apparent she was lost and needed to find herself and her calling. Feeling restless and down in the dumps not knowing what to do now that she wasn't in the spotlight she set out to look for a new meaning in life which led her to make some questionable choices along the way. She orchestrated a "rescue mission" that went south and ended with the Maxwell triad [her and her triplets] facing the supernatural council and stuck with community service. Rose was forced to serve her sentence helping the very same animal sanctuary in which their mission took place - to her surprise the owner of the sanctuary was none other than Damien Adams a grumpy [and SEXY] half demon, veterinary who she had a one night stand with months before. Now she has to be in his insufferable presence and her still being attracted to him made things even worse UNTIL she had the brilliant idea to start a "friends with benefits" / no strings attached agreement with him that we all know NEVER really works out that way.

Damien was honestly swoon worthy and he pulled at my heart strings and Rose was so stubborn and a pain in his butt, BUT he couldn't keep her out of his mind any better than Rose could keep him out of hers. The banter and chemistry between Rose and Damien was literally AMAZING and the spice?!?! PERFECT - It made this book even better. This had me laughing out loud so many times, it was such a fun read. Definitely recommend and I can't wait to read more books by this author.

Thank you to St. Martin's Griffin and NetGalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest review.

After stepping down as Prima, Rose Maxwell is just trying to figure out what to do with her life. When she's sentenced to community service hours at the animal sanctuary where Damian (her first and only one-night-stand) works, the two constantly butt heads. However, their arguing is basically foreplay, and they two wind up in a FWB situation. It starts to become more to both of them, but Damian had been cursed to lose his soul if he falls in love.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, and I was so excited to read about Rose after meeting her in Not the Witch You Wed. April Asher hit so many good tropes and balanced the romance and humor just right. I can't wait to read about Olive next...and maybe Harper one day soon ;)

This book was pure fun; I love the Maxwell sisters and it was so much fun to watch Rose figure out what to do with herself now that she is no longer Prima Apparent. Damien made for a delightfully grumpy leading man to Rose's very optimistic outlook as she looks for her new passion. Also, there are cute puppies in this book so really, you can't go wrong. I like the set-up for the next book as well. April Asher is so good about taking the tried and true romance tropes and adding magic into them. Highly recommend for a read that will be fun and take you out of reality for a few hours!

Not Your Ex's Hexes was a fun follow up to the first book in the Supernatural Singles series, Not the Witch You Wed. I enjoyed learning more about the Maxwell sisters and watching the relationship build between Rose and Damian.

Earlier this year I read Asher's first novel, 'Not the Witch You Wed,' and though some of the dialogue was a little quirky, I really enjoyed it.

I felt the same about 'Not Your Ex's Hexes!' I loved getting to see this new side of Rose, as we only got to see her as prior Prima Apparent in the first book. This book even made me actually end up loving both Violet and Linc more! I enjoyed Damian, but occasionally the brooding/grumpiness got a bit old.

I CANNOT wait for Olive and Bax's story, as this one had a lot of build up for the next installment as well.

I HATE when a main character breaks up with the other one because they decide their partner 'deserves better.' I HATE that trope. So that aspect bugged me a bit, but luckily its short lived!

Not Your Ex's Hexes is the second novel in the Supernatural Singles series and it does not disappoint! It picks up shortly after the ending of the first novel, and focuses this time on the second Maxwell sister, Rose.

After giving up her role as Prima Apparent to her older sister Violet, and ending her engagement to a total dbag, Rose is a little lost in what her life's purpose is. In an attempt to do a good deed, she ends up being given community service at a local animal sanctuary and working with Damian. A demon-shifter who she *might* have had a one night stand with and who might be best friends with her new brother in law.

Damian has a hard past that he keeps close to his chest. He also carries around a curse given to him when he was 16 in which he can't fall in love, for if he does, he'll lose his soul. For this reason, Damian leads a solitary life, never being with a woman more than once. If he doesn’t have the opportunity to love a woman, he won't have the chance to lose his soul.

But the attraction between Rose and Damian is strong. Not only do they have their past night of passion to remember, but working in close proximity only makes it that much more difficult to keep away from one another. So they decide to strike a Friends with Benefits agreement.

I think we've all had those moments in life where we feel lost, or scared, or unsure of what our next step should be. While this may be a witchy romcom, it's also very relatable and you can connect with the characters. There are many funny moments, but serious ones as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Dare I say… I think it was better than the first! Told from third person/dual POV, I definitely recommend it! I do recommend reading Not The Witch You Wed first, so as not to spoil that book when reading this one!

Thank you NetGalley for an advance copy of this book to read and review.

"𝘛𝘰 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦 𝘢 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩... 𝘨𝘰 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘪𝘵."

I want to start this post by saying that when I got this ARC, I actually had no idea it was the 2nd book in the series - and I have since ordered the 1st book and will hopefully get to it soon(ish) 😂

That being said, I absolutely loved book! I've found that I love the paranormal/supernatural niche of romance books. This story contained just enough spice for me - where it's not closed-door, but it's also not the ENTIRE storyline. And you know I love me a grumpy/sunshine trope 😅

I also really enjoy the family aspect and the overarching supernatural theme where supernaturals and normal people live side by side.

NOT YOUR EX'S HEXES will be available on 2/7/23!

Thank you April, @stmartinspress and @netgalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for a review!

Y'all this book was PURE FUN! The perfect follow up to Not the Witch You Wed, this story follows Rose as she explores life after being the prima witch. I loved the magical and witchy elements, the hilarious side characters, the steamy scenes, the witty and sharp banter, the creative plot and the swoonworthy romance. Highly recommend if you like magical enemies to lovers!

Thank you so much Netgalley and SMP for my copy.

I really enjoy this series by April Asher. It always is a fun paranormal romance with great characters. Book two was a good edition to the series, centering on a different sister than the first book. At times this book dragged a bit for me and I think I still prefer the first in the series. But I enjoyed the book and it set up book three really well. I am so excited to read an Olive romance and look forward to seeing it out in the world some time in the future. Definitely would recommend this to readers who enjoy a fun paranormal romance with great writing and characters.

Rating: 3.5/5
Tropes: Grumpy/Sunshine, Forced Proximity, It’s Just a Hookup

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for access to this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion. Not Your Ex’s Hexes will be released on February 7, 2023.

I’m going to say, I liked book one a bit more. Not Your Ex’s Hexes was perfectly set up from book one and I can imagine it would be confusing to read this book as a standalone.

Things I liked: I adored the animal sanctuary storyline in this book! I loved that these characters also really cared for the animals and the future of the sanctuary. Damian and Rose had some great banter and connection.

Things I didn’t care for: There was way too much going on in this book. We had a lot of surface level storylines but did not dig deeper.

I absolutely loved this romantic comedy! The second book is even more fun than “Not The Witch You Wed.” I really loved how Rose was trying to find herself after stepping down as the head witch in training. I loved the banter and snarky comments back and forth. Damien was definitely inspired Dean from Supernatural. He was the perfect recipe of brooding cinnamon roll. It was the perfect romantic comedy where you know what’s going to happen but the journey is just as fun!
I can’t wait to read the next book in the series! Thank you for the opportunity to read this amazing story!

Not Your Ex's Hexes is the second book in the Supernatural Singles series and follows Violet's middle sister Rose. This book picks up not long after the end of the first book where we meet Damian. Damian is a half demon vet that is best friends with Violet's mate Lincoln. Rose and Damian meet at the end of Not the Witch You Wed when they have a one night stand. Rose gets sentenced to complete community service and ends up having to complete it at the animal sanctuary that Damian runs. As much as the two try to stay on professional terms while Rose is completing her community service that quickly turns into a friends with benefits situation.

I have to say that as much as I liked the first book I liked this one even more. Damian is broody and Rose is sassy in a way that works perfectly, the two fight but from the start you can feel the chemistry between them. This book definitely increase the steam in a way that I really appreciated and although it was steamy and a friends with benefits situation I never felt like the steam overpowered the story. One of my favorite tropes is enemies to lovers and although they are not enemies they definitely don't like each other that much at the beginning of the book. I loved watching the relationship between Rose and Damian grow as well as watching them each grow as individual people.

The banter between Rose and Damian had me laughing at times as well as when the sisters were together you never know what you are going to get. I cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out which I will assume is going to be about the third sister. I would also LOVE to read a book about the sister's best friend Harper if I can put that into the universe!

If you liked Not the Witch You Wed I highly recommend picking up this book, be prepared to laugh because the sister will always keep you on your toes. Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press, St. Martin's Griffin for allowing me to read and review this book before publishing.

I personally enjoyed the first book more - this one was much more complicated, but also a lot more spice so I'm sure there is a large demographic that will be enamored with exactly what this book brings.

There is a specific typo to bring to your attention that I didn't include in my Goodreads - I expect it won't be there by release but just in case - Chapter 19 "are Henry Jansen and his husband and Otis" .... I believe Otis IS Henry Jansen's husband? It was distracting to work that out with how two older gentlemen became three.

Can't wait for Olive's friends to lovers trope with Bax.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an e-galley of Not Your Ex's Hexes.

Picking up where Not the Witch You Wed ended, we follow along on Rose's life after her Prima training has stopped. With no plan for her life, a happily broken engagement in her past, and no more pressure from the magical community, Rose is determined to figure out her next steps. After a very misguided rescue attempt of two horses, Rose finds herself serving volunteer hours on the animal rescue farm. Little does she know, but her new boss is the demon she hooked up with at her sister's engagement party.

As Rose adapts to working on a farm, and Damian adjusts to having another person working at his sanctuary, they both try to fight the tension between them.

It’s a cute story similar to the first book in the series. I like this one better personally but that might be because the beginning is the three sisters attempting to save horses they think are being mistreated only to learn the horses have already been rescued and are being cared for. I was sold there since this story has a lot of time at said sanctuary.

This was really good! Funny, sexy, and well-written. I also didn't know it's part of a series so I'll have to read the first one, and I'll be looking forward to the next. Extra points for naming the demon vet Damian. We love a bad boy with a heart of gold.

I didn’t realize how much I missed this type of book. It was a fun little romp, with some comedy, some magic, some romance, and it was a nice easy read. It’s been a while since I’ve read one of these – and I don’t even know what to call this sub genre - but I realized halfway through how much I missed the good little escape from reality that these little supernatural romances can be when they are done right. And this was a done right!

I definitely need to go read the first one of the series though now.

Not you Ex’s Hexes by April It is pretty formulaic but that is totally ok!! That is why I like these light supernatural romances. There was just enough unique to make it not feel like I’d read it before. But it was also comfortable and easy and stress free reading.

Here we have a set of main characters in three sisters. They’re witches and we find ourselves reading about the love lives of these witches and other supes. Without having read the first book, there were a few details that I found myself having to piece together, but if you can’t get your hands on the first one, don’t let it stop you from reading this one anyway! It was easy enough and the details weren’t too critical to the plot or the romance. The main character (or should I say the female protagonist in love) is a wonderfully written character. The readers who will enjoy this most aren’t afraid of some raunchy details (although they weren’t over the top and they didn’t take up pages the way a JR Ward book does), but it was just enough to bring a little color to the reader’s cheeks, and leave the reader with a smile.

This is the perfect escape from reality. I can’t wait to read more!

This was a cute paranormal romance. I actually didn't realize that it was the second book in a series but April does an amazing job of summarizing the first book and catching the reader back up without feeling like a recap of the first book.
Loved the slow burn romance. Love the big. burly, bad demon who has a soft spot for only *her*. Great tropes: fated mates, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity.
Love when a MMC that finds herself and her new calling in life after something that she's been literally training for her whole life has been ripped from under her.
Some of the dialogue was a little too cutesy BUT I know that's typical with this genre and it wasn't bad, not a deal breaker at all- just being nitpicky at this point.
This is a great *cute* autumnal read for all the readers like me that want the "spooky, autumn aesthetic" but can't stomach too much of the actual spook lol
The epilogue already had me sucked in. Love a good forced proximity- lets goooo!

I am writing this unbiased review in exchange for a copy of the book from NetGalley. This book took a couple of chapters to interest me- mainly due to the fact that I'm not generally a fantasy reader and there was very little explanation of the world at the start. Once I understood how "norms" , demons, vampires, witches and shift changers all lived with an awareness of each other, I was able to roll with it. It took a while to "get it" but when I did I appreciated that the author showed me rather than told me. It takes strong writing to do that.

Sweet story pairs sunshine witch with grumpy demon veterinarian. She has to work at his animal rescue and solves a multitude of problems. His teenage ex has put a powerful hex on him that ruins his ability to have lasting love. Of course, he and Rose fall in love. Demon fighting and the quest to break the hex ensue.

Entertaining, spicy and well written. It does get to be called a romantic fantasy since it ends with a HEA.
