I personally enjoyed the first book more - this one was much more complicated, but also a lot more spice so I'm sure there is a large demographic that will be enamored with exactly what this book brings.

There is a specific typo to bring to your attention that I didn't include in my Goodreads - I expect it won't be there by release but just in case - Chapter 19 "are Henry Jansen and his husband and Otis" .... I believe Otis IS Henry Jansen's husband? It was distracting to work that out with how two older gentlemen became three.

Can't wait for Olive's friends to lovers trope with Bax.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an e-galley of Not Your Ex's Hexes.

Picking up where Not the Witch You Wed ended, we follow along on Rose's life after her Prima training has stopped. With no plan for her life, a happily broken engagement in her past, and no more pressure from the magical community, Rose is determined to figure out her next steps. After a very misguided rescue attempt of two horses, Rose finds herself serving volunteer hours on the animal rescue farm. Little does she know, but her new boss is the demon she hooked up with at her sister's engagement party.

As Rose adapts to working on a farm, and Damian adjusts to having another person working at his sanctuary, they both try to fight the tension between them.

It’s a cute story similar to the first book in the series. I like this one better personally but that might be because the beginning is the three sisters attempting to save horses they think are being mistreated only to learn the horses have already been rescued and are being cared for. I was sold there since this story has a lot of time at said sanctuary.

This was really good! Funny, sexy, and well-written. I also didn't know it's part of a series so I'll have to read the first one, and I'll be looking forward to the next. Extra points for naming the demon vet Damian. We love a bad boy with a heart of gold.

I didn’t realize how much I missed this type of book. It was a fun little romp, with some comedy, some magic, some romance, and it was a nice easy read. It’s been a while since I’ve read one of these – and I don’t even know what to call this sub genre - but I realized halfway through how much I missed the good little escape from reality that these little supernatural romances can be when they are done right. And this was a done right!

I definitely need to go read the first one of the series though now.

Not you Ex’s Hexes by April It is pretty formulaic but that is totally ok!! That is why I like these light supernatural romances. There was just enough unique to make it not feel like I’d read it before. But it was also comfortable and easy and stress free reading.

Here we have a set of main characters in three sisters. They’re witches and we find ourselves reading about the love lives of these witches and other supes. Without having read the first book, there were a few details that I found myself having to piece together, but if you can’t get your hands on the first one, don’t let it stop you from reading this one anyway! It was easy enough and the details weren’t too critical to the plot or the romance. The main character (or should I say the female protagonist in love) is a wonderfully written character. The readers who will enjoy this most aren’t afraid of some raunchy details (although they weren’t over the top and they didn’t take up pages the way a JR Ward book does), but it was just enough to bring a little color to the reader’s cheeks, and leave the reader with a smile.

This is the perfect escape from reality. I can’t wait to read more!

This was a cute paranormal romance. I actually didn't realize that it was the second book in a series but April does an amazing job of summarizing the first book and catching the reader back up without feeling like a recap of the first book.
Loved the slow burn romance. Love the big. burly, bad demon who has a soft spot for only *her*. Great tropes: fated mates, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity.
Love when a MMC that finds herself and her new calling in life after something that she's been literally training for her whole life has been ripped from under her.
Some of the dialogue was a little too cutesy BUT I know that's typical with this genre and it wasn't bad, not a deal breaker at all- just being nitpicky at this point.
This is a great *cute* autumnal read for all the readers like me that want the "spooky, autumn aesthetic" but can't stomach too much of the actual spook lol
The epilogue already had me sucked in. Love a good forced proximity- lets goooo!

I am writing this unbiased review in exchange for a copy of the book from NetGalley. This book took a couple of chapters to interest me- mainly due to the fact that I'm not generally a fantasy reader and there was very little explanation of the world at the start. Once I understood how "norms" , demons, vampires, witches and shift changers all lived with an awareness of each other, I was able to roll with it. It took a while to "get it" but when I did I appreciated that the author showed me rather than told me. It takes strong writing to do that.

Sweet story pairs sunshine witch with grumpy demon veterinarian. She has to work at his animal rescue and solves a multitude of problems. His teenage ex has put a powerful hex on him that ruins his ability to have lasting love. Of course, he and Rose fall in love. Demon fighting and the quest to break the hex ensue.

Entertaining, spicy and well written. It does get to be called a romantic fantasy since it ends with a HEA.

A fun twist on the usual tropes in a rom-com seeing as it's a supernatural one lol. This is the second in a series, but reads as a stand alone. I genuinely laughed out loud reading this book, it was really enjoyable!

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the book.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Not Your Ex's Hexes is one-night-stand to annoyances to friends with benefits to lovers romcom about a witch and a half-demon. It's funny and has good spice but sadly, I did not connect with the book. It might be because I haven't read book 1 in the series but still, everything was quite easy to understand and the author made sure all the gaps were filled.

The book is definitely very funny, even made me laugh out loud a few times. I liked Rose and Damian on their own but I did not like the nicknames they had (I am not a fan of "babe" at all, in any book tbh). I did not feel connected to these characters and to be quite honest, I felt where this was going so I wasn't excited to finish it.

Loved that a lot of stuff was happening at the animal sanctuary - I love animals and reading about characters who love them as much is heartwarming.

As for the side characters, I was not feeling them either and did not care about MCs interactions with anyone but each other.

I guess this is truly the case of "it's not you, it's me" and I am the problem in why I didn't like this book.

3.5/5

What an interesting read!
I figured this would be a normal rom com but I was delighted to find something different!
I love anything to do with the paranormal especially around the Fall season. This book is absolutely perfect for that!
Some great characters in this book too. I loved in getting to know them but I had no idea that this was a series.
April Asher has done a marvelous job with making her characters real and believable.
I don't know when I've enjoyed a book more. ( of course I say this about most every book I read but you know, I can't help myself)!
I had fun reading this book.
5 stars for a job well done! I highly recommend!
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

3.5 stars!

Not Your Ex's Hexes is a cute romance that checks the boxes on tropes readers will love (forced proximity, one night stand to lovers, grumpy x sunshine). I wanted to absolutely love this book but I didn't. There are key moments where banter and rambling took precedence over plot, and while, in the first book, the cutesy nicknames and witchy-words didn't feel over the top, they pushed me out of the story in this one. Some of them were brilliant but others were .. a bit much.

I loved the supernatural characters, the world building, and Damien and Rose's relationship overall! I think this is a fun read for Fall vibes if you're looking for a cute and spicy supernatural romance.

Not Your Ex's Hexes is a cute paranormal romance, and is the second book in April Asher’s Supernatural Singles series. The storyline/romance was so amzing, and atmosphere was so good. This was a great Halloween season rom-com, and it was just the fun read I needed.

I liked a lot about this book. I enjoyed all of the characters (good & evil); the love story was a good one. I absolutely loved that the MCs saved/rescued at-risk animals and thought that was something that really added to the story. I even liked the love/hate relationship between the brothers. The only thing that kept me at a distance was MC Rose’s stubbornness and uncompromising nature. Even though I did like her, that part turned me off at times. But I would recommend this if you’re looking for a fun paranormal romance. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book free of charge.

A half demon and a witch, sign me up! This was my first April Asher book and I really loved it. It was cute and perfect for Fall. I also loved all the side friendships in this one. I can't wait for more from this author. I will definitely be going back and reading the first one now! 4/5 stars

Thank you netgalley for providing me an arc for an honest review.

Not Your Ex 's Hexes by April Asher is a fun light hearted romance. I was glad to learn that this is part of a series and I'm looking forward to reading more.

Thank you to NetGalley for the advanced digital copy.

I very much enjoyed this light-hearted but somewhat substantial romance that was a good read. It kept me engaged and interested to see what was going to happen next. It wasn't too much but also not too heavy. Kind of that perfect spot of being able to engage your mind and enjoy what you're reading, but also not something that you have to study to retain everything.
I would definitely recommend this book to my friends and would look for the author's next books.

"People who interrupt someone obviously engrossed in their book has true evil in their heart. I'm just saying.

Honestly, I absolutely loved this book. Never in a million years by me looking at the front of this book would I have expected it to give the twists and turns and the amazing outcome that it did and April Asher, I applaud you for that.

I received a free ARC from NetGalley, and this is my honest review

Not Your Ex's Hexes is the second book in April Asher's Supernatural Singles series, and when I tell you that it is good....

You better believe it.

Within this book we follow the prior Prima Apparent, Rose Maxwell. After losing what she has trained her entire life for, Rose is a little lost and is truly looking for a purpose. After her horse rescue mission left her with 80 hours of community service with one hunk of a broody half-demon vet, will Rose finally be able to find her purpose in life or will her pride get in the way?

Damian Adams is a half-demon vet who has lived by the code of one-night stands only as to not get attached, but when one of his one-night stands become staff at his animal sanctuary for breaking in, will Damian stay in his ways or will he finally try something new?

This book is the absolute best paranormal romantic comedies that I have read in a hot minute. With the way that Asher blends in the aspect of the paranormal in with normal society is absolutely *chef kiss*

If you are looking for a book that will take you on a ride and actually have you one minute belly-aching laughing, then the next minute gasping and trying to read the page so quickly so you don't miss anything, then have you crying because let me tell you.

You will.

Over all a great addition to the series and I would honestly rank it higher then the first!!

Not Your Ex's Hexes is absolutely hilarious and romantic! It was so exciting to read about Rose and the extremely hot and tantalizing Dr. Demon. Not only does April Asher make you laugh out loud with her hilarious puns and chapter titles, she makes you swoon for the bad boy with the good heart. Also- who doesn't love a strong and independent female main character? Rose is the epitome of a kindhearted badass- she's so incredibly relatable too! I am absolutely looking forward to continuing to read anything April Asher writes (Me, looking at April, begging for Olive and Harper to get their HEA!).

What a book!? I was lucky enough to be approved to read this ARC and I was excited to dive right in. I hadn’t read the first book in the series but after having read this book I went out and purchased the first, that is how much I loved this story.

Rose losses her prima witch position before this book begins but she doesn’t seem to upset about it. She is struggling to find her purpose and avoiding her mothers matching making plans. This leads her to a one night stand with a handsome half demon. He is a former bounty hunter turned veterinarian and apparently irresistible.

Right from the prologue you could sense their chemistry was fire 🔥. Damian runs an animal sanctuary but is dealing with a hex his ex put on him and has sworn off love. Rose has also sworn off love due to a narcissistic fiancé. They are thorn together due to a foolish decision by Rose that leads to community service hours at the sanctuary. Together they have to learn to get along and deal with their sizzling chemistry so they decide to become FB’s. But how to do that without letting the heart get involved?

I devoured this book in two days I could not put it down. Even though the main conflict is not one of my favourite tropes, the writing style, character development and story line more then made up for that. I will be going back and reading the first book in the series and I hope there are more books to come in the series!

The triplets, who are witches are interesting characters. This is a story about true mates, but you wouldn't know it. I really like how the story is not totally focused on the demon and the witch. We get what's going on with the sisters. What's going on in there daily lives. Some about the counsel. The story is a bit of all of the characters lives while we watch the couple develop and learn more about them. I would recommend this to any adult because it does have sexual content.
