This sequel in the Supernatural Singles series was even better than the first. Understanding the world better, and Asher expanding on our knowledge of the world, characters, and magic system made it easier to invest in the story immediately.

This book was so good it made me want to cry. I love magical/supernatural romance books but I’m pretty sure this book has ruined all others for me. It was that good!
This book is the complete package for me. The story is written so well. The witty banter is perfection. The supporting characters are hilarious. And the SPICE! Oh my gosh the SPICE.
I liked the first book in the series, but this book is for sure my favorite. Do you have a book that you constantly think about? This is mine.
Not Your Ex’s Hexes follows the second born triplet, Rose, as she navigates her life after her future is completely turned upside down. She stepped down from being the Prima Apparent and dumped her narcissistic fiancé in one night.
After a night of misguided heroics, Rose is forced to spend some quality time at the local animal sanctuary along side half demon/all sexy vet, Damian.
Rose doesn’t want to date anyone. Damien doesn’t want to date anyone for more than one night. What could go wrong? LOL
If you love witchy angst, witty banter and SPICE, this book is just begging for a spot on your TBR!

I fell in love with this world in the first book and continued my love in Asher’s follow up. Rose and Damien were a fun couple to explore. I especially enjoyed the bounty hunting addition to bring in a little extra texture to the storyline.
Overall, this 2nd story was golden. I was a little nervous as I did not really find Rose a compelling character in the 1st book, but quickly connected in Not Your Ex’s Hexes. I will keep my eye out for the next two and possibly more with all the characters introduced. Keep them coming.

Unfortunately, this book did not grab me and I gave up with it after 5 chapters. The writing was childish and cringe-worthy.

I loved this book! I was immediately sucked into the story. I did not want to put it down, I wanted to keep reading to find out what was going to happen next. This is book two in the series and I feel like it could be read as a standalone but personally I can’t wait to go back and read the first book. As well can not wait for more books in the series to come out. Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and author for an opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.

Oh my, my, my did I adore this one!!
April Ashes created a fun, magical, unique & charming urban fantasy world I’m Not The Witch You Wed, and there was already so much to love. In this second installment, she turned every aspect up a notch. More chemistry, more banter, more spice, more danger, more charm, and more endearing love.
I should start off mentioning that I absolutely adore the friends with benefit’s who turn into more (or in this case, reluctant co-animal-caretakers? Not sure but I love it). Damian and Rose had the most intense chemistry, and I loved them both separately as characters so much. Rose was the uptight sister in book 1, and it was such a delight to see her let her hair down and turn into a whole different witch who is still wildly capable & passionate. Damian is the perfect amount of grump. It’s definitely not his whole personality, and the sexy confidence he Carrie’s offsets it nicely, along with his completely awe inspiring passion for caring for animals (of all things for a half-demon, am I right?)
The Maxwell sister’s antics never failed to charm me and make be double over with giggles. I really felt the individuality of each of them in this book, much more so than book one. I also noticed a distinct decrease in the witchy-themed innuendo & slang, which to me was a welcome change (I typically love themed language spins but in book 1 it became too much and took me out of the story). In contrast, every time some sort of fun, paranormal slang & joke was thrown around, it felt completely natural & unforced.
Above all else, though, I just loved this couple together. I felt myself being able to relate to Rose in a lot of ways, and Damian was the perfect mild grump to her perky badassery. I loved that the third act conflict wasn’t based in miscommunication, and rather felt very grounded in the problem that had been cemented as a barrier throughout the entire book. I am chomping at the bit for this upcoming roommate romance that seems to be brewing for our last Maxwell sister, and April Asher has been firmly placed on my Author Release Watchlist (and catch me looking into all of her published works as April Hunt in the meantime)
Thank you so much to St Martin’s Press & NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this title before publishing!

Complete transparency, I didn't read Not the Witch You Wed before I read this one. This book does contain spoilers for the previous, but they aren't so connected that I didn't understand any plot points. If not for the spoilers, it would be a fine standalone.
Not Your Ex's Hexes is a cute, witchy GrumpyxSunshine romance with some good spice. If you want a fun, quick Halloween read, this is a good option.
Damian was the best character in this book. A grump with a troubled past and a soft spot for animals always gets me. He's also the only character with good growth over the course of the story.
Rose was fun, but I feel like she was missing some development. She was just replaced for the most powerful witch position by her sister, a position she has been training for her entire life. My assumption was that she would be distraught and maybe have some identity crisis. There is some inner turmoil, but it seems more like she just flits from job to job and doesn't really give anything a chance. The only things she stuck with was the animal sanctuary and Hunting. The entire time she was at the animal sanctuary, she would bounce between how good she was at it, but go right into needing to find another job. Every time this happened, I would question why she didn't even think to stay there once she was done, maybe as the official event coordinator or something? Instead, she sticks to hunting, which we saw her succeed at once and then almost die another time. The times we're told went well between these, she's with Damian. My final issue with Rose was that she didn't know the only way to break a soul hex is to personally confront it. She spent her whole life training to be the most powerful with in North America, and she didn't know this? Maybe soul hex terms are decided by the witch who casts them, but it didn't seem like that was the case.
Altogether, this was a fine read and I got through it pretty quickly. However, I probably won't read the first or third one.

Perfect for fans of the Ex Hex and The Kiss Curse, this supernatural romance with its magical elements and cute banter.
After a failed animal rescue gets Rose in trouble with the law, she is forced to complete community service hours. However, she is surprised when she finds out who she will be working under. Rose hasn’t seen half demon Damian since their night together in an alleyway. When feelings start to spark between the two, they decide to make a no feelings, no strings arrangement. So what happens when both of them want more? Find out by reading Not Your Ex’s Hexes when it releases in February 2023.
I would give this boom 4/5 stars. Definitely didn’t expect it to be this good. Some of the tropes in this book are
- Grumpy x Sunshine
- Friends to lovers
- Friends with benefits
- Bad Boy x Good Girl
- One night stand to lovers
I loved the banter between Rose and Damian. The chemistry between them was undeniable from the beginning. This book is a great supernatural fall read to get you in the mood for Halloween. I can’t wait until Olive’s story comes out.
(Thank you NetGalley for the ARC)

Genre: Contemporary Paranormal Rom-Com
Rose Maxwell, witch previously in line to become Prima, or head witch on the Supernatural Council, is adrift. Since her older triplet sister, Vi, took over the role, Rose hasn’t succeeded at much of anything, including the ill-advised horse-rescue heist which lands her doing community service at an animal sanctuary run by veterinarian half-demon Damian Adams. Damian is grumpy around everyone who isn’t an animal, keeping people at arm’s length due in part because of his exceedingly grumpy personality and in part because of a soul hex placed on him by an ex-girlfriend eighteen years ago. Forced proximity leads Rose and Damian to enter into a Friends with Benefits Agreement (ok the FB stands for something else here, but let’s keep the caption PG-13 at least), and while we know that emotions rarely stay out of these arrangements, as soon as Damian’s heart gets involved, his very soul is at stake.
The witchy rom-com genre has gained recent popularity and this series is my favorite of them. It’s not as cozy as some, or even as witchy (but please give me all the shifters and demons, too!), but it has some of the elements in darker paranormals I’ve come to enjoy while keeping the vibes rom-comy-lite. It’s very self-aware - recognizing its tropes, but rather than standing them on their heads, April Asher incorporates that realization into her plots.
Rose is a very relatable heroine to the modern reader. She’s trained her whole life for one thing, only to find that the Prima role isn’t hers anymore (this happens in book one, but we see it from Violet’s perspective, rather than Rose’s). She’s relieved, because it never felt quite right, but also doesn’t know what she can succeed in. Recognizable? No longer having to fit the mold of poised and proper Prima, she’s finding herself more comfortable in her own skin.
And Damian is a little over-the-top grumpy, but we can give him a pass, since he’s the son of a Prince of Hell. He also once had a career as a Hunter, bringing souls to hell, but even with his change of heart to care for animals in the sanctuary, he still feels like he’ll never exceed and is clinging to the threads of his humanity.
April Asher brings the heat with this one, too. Rose and Damian previously had a one-night stand (or rather bathroom stall hookup…), so their attraction is already believable before their forced proximity drives them to their FBA. Not Your Ex’s Hexes is deliciously explicit without crossing the line of too much bang and not enough book.
Thank you to @stmartinspress and @netgalley for an eARC! Not Your Ex’s Hexes by April Asher is out 2/7/23.

Not Your Ex’s Hexes
Rose Maxwell, one of three witchy triplets was next in line to assume the position of Prima Apparent within the Supernatural Council. Things did not happen as expected. She is left pondering what her true purpose is in life.
Damian Adams, a half demon veterinarian and former notorious Hunter has been hexed by a former flame.
This misfortune has caused Damian to keep his humanity and demon side in check. If he falls in love he will ultimately end up losing his soul.
After a sexy one night stand with Rose they both attempt to keep their desires buried but that backfires. The two are thrown into a series of complicated events they must tackle together without falling in love.
What I liked about this book:
- This was a fun, easy read and will be perfect for anyone looking for a sexy rom-com.
- I enjoyed the variety of supernatural characters.
- There was some quick-witted jokes and creative lines throughout the book.
- I appreciated Rose’s empathetic, compassionate, optimistic nature.
What could have been improved:
- I found that the elements of the plot were weak.
- The constant rambling between the characters was a little excessive especially when there were situations that needed to be immediately addressed.
- I enjoy a sexy romance but to me this felt like “50 shades of ”Rosian” to the point where I forgot the point of the story.
Conclusion:
If you are looking for a light read with sexy romance and a bit of supernatural combined then this is the perfect book for you. This just wasn’t my cup of tea.
Thank you to St. Martins Griffin, April Asher and NetGalley for this advanced DRC.

Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read this eARC!
I honestly didn't know how I would feel about the book, as I have never read April Asher before and I didn't realize until later this was a sequel, but I enjoyed it! It wasn't hard to umder what was going on although I would recommend reading in order. I loved having a strong female main character and I loved the supernatural romance aspect. The banter was witty and super cute.

Rose is at something of a lose end, not knowing what to do with her life. When she gets into a spot of trouble with the law, she ends up completing community service at an animal sanctuary run by grumpy half demon vet Damian, a recent one night stand who has been hexed to lose his soul if he ever falls in love ...
This supernatural romance is so brilliantly written, with funny and engaging characters and loads of steam - have a fan nearby!
I received a copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review

Not Your Ex’s Hexes is a spicy, witchy sequel to the first book Not the Witch You Wed, this time focusing on the storyline of our second Maxwell sister, Rose, and a sexy half-demon veterinarian, Damian, who she cannot get out of her head after their one night stand. This is a sequel that is best read after the first, as there is less time spent in world building and Supernatural explanations and gets right down to business.
These books are the perfect cross between steamy romance and witchy perfection, and I am here for it. The chemistry and banter between Rose and Damian is practically palpable on the pages.. I enjoy a storyline that comes after an incidental meeting (or in this case a one night stand), and feeling the tension build. And boy, April Asher knows how to build the tension! Then you add animals and I am sold.
Truthfully, I thought the romance between Vi and Linc was a bit more developed and I felt more connected with them. However the sexy scenes and chemistry with Rose and Damian were a bit stronger so it was a fair balance. I loved the initial storyline with the animals and wish that had developed rather than taking the focus to the bounty hunting. But regardless, I found myself engaged and intrigued throughout. I cannot wait for Olive’s story next!

Not Your Ex’s Hexes is light romantic fantasy to the extreme. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, and although it’s cheesy, it’s mostly the good kind of cheesy, and provides a fun ride.
Rose Maxwell is one of the Magic Triad, triplet sisters who are (mostly – oldest sister Violet, heroine of Not the Witch You Wed, was not) gifted with magical powers. Rose is the middle child, a trainee Prima since childhood (think the Supreme and her possibles from American Horror Story: Coven) who will end up heading the Supernatural Council made up of various supernatural creatures (shifters and demons and witches, oh my!) which makes the laws governing the land’s magical creatures. But all of that’s behind Rose; she’s now an ex-Prima Apparent, much to her grandmother’s displeasure.
Rose recently had an assignation with Damian Adams – a veterinarian who also happens to be half-demon. She’s tried to forget about him, but is forced to remember him when she’s sentenced to do community service at his clinic after freeing a group of neglected horses from their stables at an animal sanctuary. Since Rose has absolutely no direction after losing the position she’d been born to, at least now she has a job to go to every single day. Unfortunately, she soon figures out she’s destined to be a Hunter, which takes Damian back to the world he ditched years before.
Rose puts one and one together about Damian, and they decide that the best solution to their problem would be to slip into a friends-with-benefits situation. Damian’s suffering from a hex put on him by a bitter ex, you see; if he falls in love he loses his ability to shift from human to demon. So romance definitely isn’t in the cards for him. Is it?
Not You Ex’s Hexes is like ordering a big, tall fruity cocktail from your local bar. It’s sweet, it’s fizzy, and sometimes it’ll give you a headache. Rose is a sweetheart, and she and Damian have other things they care about outside of the bedroom, but the sometimes-flat and slangy dialogue will make your head spin.
The good news is that our hero and heroine have a great obstacle to overcome here, and it’s easy to like them and root for them to get out from under their problems.
The conversational level is full of slang to an almost dizzying extent. Everything gets nicknamed; even a vibrator is called Mr. Wiggles! There are also dizzying linguistic terms like bwitch, which is an amalgamation of “bitch” and “witch” but also used in a positive manner. You end up sitting there wondering why the author is straining so hard to make T-shirt slogans instead of giving us dialogue worth reading.
But the spirit and punch of the thing is still admirable, and there’s lighthearted fun to be had. Not Your Ex’s Hexes works just well enough to squeak out a B. We’ll have to see if Olive’s book manages to bring more magic to the table.

I love this book. It's all the things I want in a story. Romance, banter, fantasy, animals and puppies.
I liked the finding yourself plot and the determination to have fun and try new things.
Rose is a strong willed female MC who is not afraid of wanting, and the humor it causes is perfect. The sisterly bonds are relatable and are a great safe point in the book.
I highly recommend this book.

I was given an Arc copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
This was my first April Asher book and it was so cute! This was the perfect book for fall! I guess this was the second book in the series but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything so I don’t think you have to read the first one before this!
4/5 stars and will definitely recommend to my friends!

I thought this book was really cute. I liked Rose and Damian a lot. Together, they were magic (pun intended). There was just something engaging about the way the pair interacted. They were both clever, gave the other as good as they got, and worked together to find solutions. They definitely had scorching hot chemistry and a lot of sexy times. If this book suffered at all, at least for me, it was from the sheer number of characters, each with a name, description, supernatural race and ability, not to mention their relationship to other characters. It was a lot to keep track of. Plus, there was some drag from repetition. The reader is frequently reminded about Damian’s curse and Rose’s history with her ex, as well as her old position as the “prima apparent.” I definitely enjoyed the book and will look to read others in the series.
**Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Griffin and April Asher. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book. All opinions are my own.***

I'd never read April Asher before but after reading this I immediately want to go out and read the rest of the series and wait impatiently for the next book as well! She really took brooding hero to the next level with this one by giving him a hex that doesn't allow him to fall in love or so he thinks! A super fun read!
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an arc for an honest review!

After Rose Maxwell gives up her title of "Prima Apparent" to her older sister after her powers snap into place, she finds herself free to do whatever she likes for the first time in her life. The problem? She has no idea what she wants to do. After mistakenly almost committing a crime, she is forced into community service at a local animal sanctuary with a very grump half-demon veterinarian...who she happened to have a one night stand with a couple of months previously. The last thing Damian needs while trying to financially support the sanctuary is to get involved with Rose and yet they enter a "FWB" situationship with no intention of catching feelings. Rose soon finds a new calling, which happens to be the "career" that Damian has been running away from for years.
This was a great witchy romance and perfect for fall/Halloween season, despite it not being published until February! The chemistry and banter between Damian and Rose was really great.
Just as with the first book in this series, I don't totally understand the world and all of the paranormal species that exist, but I just really didn't care that I didn't totally understand - it didn't detract from the book or the romance for me at all.
Overall a super solid 4 stars for me! Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Netgalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I really really liked this book! The perfect cozy, spooky, fall-time read! This is book 2 in the Supernatural Singles series, and after reading this, I am definitely going to pick up a copy of the first. The chemistry between Rose and Damian was through the roof, and the banter was top notch - it had everything I like in a light-hearted romance!
Tropes: one night stand to lovers, opposites attract, forced proximity, and good girl x bad boy. This book is packed with adventure, mishaps, and everything in-between. Not a moment was boring, everything fit together like a puzzle, right down to the very last satisfying piece. I will definitely be picking up Asher's books in the future!
Thank you NetGalley, April Asher, St. Martins Press, and St. Martin's Griffin for the e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!
