A good follow up to Not the Witch You Wed, a lot of the elements I enjoyed from the first book are still present - like the alt/mod world of supernaturals being "out" and the sweet, no-drama bond between the three Maxwell sisters.
Overall I enjoyed the story and the characters, it’s a fun, cute forced proximity romance. A little more spice than the first book since our grumpy-sunshine MC’s start out as a one night stand, so a spicy relationship is already established and doesn’t have to be led up to.
One of the things that I really loved about the first book was the hilarious banter and while there are plenty of funny bits in this one, the banter doesn’t flow quite as naturally as first book and the chemistry between Rose and Damian fell a smidge flat…there was just a little bit of a forced undertone in the plot and writing this time. It’s a fun read and I enjoyed it, it just didn’t *quite* hit the mark as high as the first book for me. I am really looking forward to the third book though, Olive is my favorite of the three sisters and I can’t wait to read her story!

This is a fun second book to the series. Although they could be standalones I definitely recommend having read the first as this takes over Rose’s story and a lot of her history is established in Not the Witch you Wed, and this book definitely has some set up for the next sister.
Rose is from one of the most powerful witch families and is learning her place in the world and Damian is hot, demon, veterinarian, so, yes please. The story has some parts that were a little slow for me and I think added to be comedic but kinda fell short for me.
The relationship between the two of them has a good development pace and I enjoy the two of them together. This book is full of Buffy references, banter and more of this fun supernatural/ human world. I love the grandma, Edie.
Overall, it’s a nice light supernatural romance with some steam and fun friends/ family.
ARC provided through NetGalley, thanks! Review is full of my freely given honest opinions.

This book was everything I didn't know I needed in the second installment of the Supernatural Singles Series. Personally, I think paranormal contemporary romance can be a hard genre to get right. There is the normal story balance but the added pressure of the paranormal element, too much and the romance is lost or too little and why bother?
This book stuck the perfect balance for me! I love the world that Asher has brought together in an urban (New York) low-fantasy setting with a great mix of supernatural creatures. The life/identity crisis Rose has in the book was written to be so relatable with the bonus of her being stubborn and never going to give up, was just delightful to read. Damian was the delectable and sexy Demon vet who I just wanted more and more of. With such a soft heart and such cute animal moments, the grumpy facade that Damian gave was entertaining to watch melt away as the book progressed. Rather than a GrumpyxSunshine trope, it was a GrumpyxStubborn trope, and to be honest, I'm surprised we don't see more of this because it was excellent (The Grumpy will have to be worn down somehow). This book is heavy on angst and banter and fits Rose and Damian's character setup beautifully.
I loved this second book and man it did bring the spice! I could have done without the Mr. Wiggles references, but that's such a small thing I could just eye-roll and move on. Overall, an excellent read!
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for an eARC copy in exchange for an honest review.

I read April Asher’s Not The Witch You Wed and absolutely loved it. So when I saw Not Your Ex’s Hexes, I jumped at the chance to read it. First, I love the world Asher has created. I think it would be classified as “magical realism” in that it takes place in basically the regular world as we know it today, but just adding in supernatural characters. The Maxwell family lives in NYC and are the top witch family of the supernatural world (supernatural beings live side by side with “Norms”). This book in the series focuses on the middle sister, Rose. Compared to the first book, I thought Rose was a bit less confident and seemed to not think of herself as very capable or powerful. However, considering the events that affected her in the first book I think it makes sense that she was struggling to find her true self. I love that the male main characters in both books have been respectful, loving, mature, and selfless men. The male main character in this book, Damien, obviously had his flaws but I was in love with him from the beginning. Obviously there is 🔥sex 🔥 in the story (just like book 1), it is not overwhelming nor does it take over the plot. It does add a nice spice factor though (on scale 1 to 5 I would say the spicy scenes are a 3.5-4, but I don't read spicy novels extensively so I could just be too innocent lol). I loved the character development of both main characters, plus we got a glimpse into the main characters from book 1 to see how they were doing. I also liked that it seemed she was setting the stage for (hopefully) book 3 focusing on the younger sister. There was some predictability but I prefer that in RomComs, it wasn't overwhelming and there were still some plot points that caught me by surprise. Overall, I love Asher’s writing style and the ease of which I can read her stories. I am always laughing while reading her books and they are relatively quick reads for me.

I don't know why I requested this book from the publisher. I am super thankful to have gotten an ARC of this book. But I really did not like the first book in this seires. I didn't really like this one either. But I did like it better than the first book. I am just not a fan of the whole fantasy romance thing. I do not like fantasy books. I am a big fan of enemies to lovers so I was a fan of that in this book. But to much fantasy for me to really get into this book. I also do not think that April Ashers writing is for me.

Not Your Ex's Hexes is the second book in the Supernatural Singles series by April Asher. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone romance and as part of the series.
I thought the story was incredible! I laughed several times because it was so funny! The characters were wonderful! I fell in love with Rose and Damian and was definitely rooting for them to find there happiness! I loved the dialogue and thought it was so interesting!
This book is everything I could ask for! Witches, shifters, vampires, guardian angels, a succubus and so much more!
I highly recommend this book! If you love witchy romances, you will love this one! I can't wait to see what's coming next in the series!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I enjoyed this one slightly less than the first, mainly because I wanted more banter. HOWEVER, the increased spice was great, and I loved the forced proximity and the plot twist with Damian. I also enjoyed Rose more than I thought I would. Olive is definitely my favorite sister still, so I can’t wait for her book.

✨I enjoyed this book just as much as I thought I would! There’s something about this magical family that makes me feel honestly jealous I’m not one of them. (They’re real you can’t change my mind.)
✨This book follows Rose who is struggling to find her path now that she’s no longer Prima to be. She’s trying to find her path in life, her passion now that nothing is exactly how she thought it would end up. Which inevitably causes her to make some questionable decisions such a “rescuing”horses, and maybe even a one night stand. What could it hurt?
✨Enter Damian the half Demon veterinarian (what a combo am I right?!) Who owns the animal sanctuary Rose tries to liberate the horses from. Surprise surprise he’s the one night stand. Damian has a past and inner demon (quite literally) he’s trying to hide from.
✨Rose and Damien get thrown together when she’s forced to do community service at the animal sanctuary. Sparks continue to fly even though neither wants anything serious. Their chemistry is explosive! This book has the sisters from book one, the HILARIOUS grandmother. I can’t wait for another book!

A great follow-up to the first book in the Supernatural Singles series. I really enjoyed "Not the Witch You Wed" and was super excited when I heard the next one was coming out.
The chemistry between Damian and Rose is natural and fun. There were a few moments that seemed forced or inauthentic but, otherwise, it was a fast and engaging read. I can't wait to read the next one - hoping it's about Olly!

disclaimer: I received this book as an ARC by Netgalley. This opinion is my own and it is honest**
I gave this book a 4.5! I enjoyed the tropes (one night stand is one of my favourites) & I enjoyed the characters. Perfect to end October with a cozy read.

I loved this book. It was such a well told story and I instantly connected with the characters.
The author does a great job painting a grand picture of the world and the people in it. I would definitely recommend everyone read this one.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martins Publishing for this eArc for my honest opinion.

Book on no string attached relationship that was incredibly steamy between two characters named Rose and Damian. Both characters were very strong willed, which made the story interesting. The supernatural aspect of the book was spectacular. I enjoyed how the attraction between the two were intense but they kept battling it. I had never read a book by April Asher and now I want to read more of her books. It was exciting, kept me wanting more. Bonus about this book that made it even more special is the name of the animal sanctuary. It has my name Marisol which is very unusual and not common. This is the second book I have ever read that had my name used. The rescue animals setting is great.

Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read this ARC!
I wasn't 100% what to expect going into this book. I do enjoy fantasy romance and I've been known to ready a "witchy/mystical" book once in a while, but I've never really looked at the romcom style ones.
However, I am happy to report that I was glad I picked this one up!
I was glad that while the book is the second in a series, it can be read as a standalone as well.
I liked the idea of Rose and Damian's one night turning into something more, then watching their "arrangement" grow into something more, then obviously one of them screws it all up. I mean... Why do we fall for these types of books over and over and over again? Oh right... Because they are awesome!
There where so many swoon worthy moments in this book that I was clutching my heart 99.9% of the time... and when Damian calls Rose "Little Witch"? Oh I was a puddle on the floor!
We got to see both characters realize who they actually are and who they could be, not only with each other, but also on their own. Rose is a straight up bad-ass who kicks butt and I love her for that. Damian is a grump who is secretly the sweetest person ever.
I fell for these two together, I lived their story. The book is well written and easily pulls you in. While it's not set to publish until February, it was the perfect ready for this halloween season! It's also a great beach read or fall camping read!

I loved this book! I know it's coming out in feb but it was the perfect addition to my Halloween reading list with the witch craft and demons. It was just the right amount of spice and drama.
Will definitely recommend!!

This book was so flipping cute! I loved the magic system, though I wish we could have seen more of it. I wish I had read the first book before starting this was, but I am so excited to go back and read it. The characters were great and the Maxwell triplets are such fun protagonists.

I really needed a romcom to break up my Halloween reading list and I couldn't have picked a better option. This was such a funny and fast read. The trope filled romance between Rose and Damian didn't disappoint. It left me hot blooded for sure.
I realized I was going to read this book out of order pretty quickly. Its the second book in the Supernatural Singles series. My reading experience wasn't hindered by this snafu. I had such fun reading this sequel that I immediately went to the library and got book #1. Can't wait for book #3.
Thank you to St. Martin’s Griffin and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Let me start out by saying how much I loved Not the Witch You Wed! And this one definitely didn’t disappoint! It hooked me from the very beginning and kept me hooked the entire time!

I really enjoyed this sequel to Not the Witch You Wed!
Not Your Ex's Hexes follows Rose Maxwell, the former Prima Apparent as she searches for her new calling after stepping down from the role. After a misguided attempt to rescue a pair of horses goes wrong, Rose is given mandatory community service at the local animal resuce working with Damian Adams - local vet, grumpy demon, and Rose's only one night stand.
I absolutely loved Damian. I'm a sucker for a grumpy bad boy, and his personality and banter with Rose were so great. I really enjoyed seeing Rose's character development and seeing her grow into herself throughout the story!
Things I loved:
•Good girl x bad boy
•Cute nicknames
•One night stand to friends with benefits
•Forced proximity
Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martins Press, and April Asher for an advanced copy of this book!

This series is VERY cute. A friend recommended the first (Not The Witch You Wed) and, upon finishing, I immediately had to request a review copy of this second installment. It’s a quick, cute read with a lovable family of witches and an eclectic group of supernaturals thriving in NYC. I will say, though, that besides the supernatural representation, this series is pretty much a straight, white depiction of characters… so if you’re looking for diversity in that regard, you won’t find it.
I like that the Maxwell sisters are very independent and headstrong. While Rose’s main love interest wants to protect and care for her, she doesn’t *need* him and I appreciate when couples are written that way.
This one is much steamier than the first and you’ll hear no complaining from me about the sexy scenes - *excellently written!*
I feel like this second book had more character development outside the supernatural community. While the first focuses on finding the next head witch and supernatural alliances, Not Your Ex’s Hexes explores the characters job/apartment hunting and quite a bit of work with an animal sanctuary, which was sweet and refreshing.
Can’t wait for the 3rd one!
Highly recommend!

This book is one of the funniest rom con’s I’ve ever read. Rose is such a relatable woman with a very strong personality and sense of humor. Her wayward ways and tenacious spirit are making for the perfect match. Once her path gets disrupted, Rose has to find her way back to who she is and who she wants to be. Taking a leap of faith, Rose gets herself into some trouble and ends up right in the unwelcoming arms of Doc Adams. Damian Adams runs a local animal sanctuary where Rose now has to do community service. Though you never doubt the duo with have their HEA, you do wonder who Rose will be and where. I loved watching Rose navigate her new path and I hope all woman can learn how powerful & resilient they are too!
