I liked Vi's story a bit better as it felt there was more at stake. She had something to prove and the stakes were higher.
Rose's story felt like Rose - it doesn't quite find its groove. In this quasi enemies-to-lovers story, Rose and Damien never feel at odds with each other and the "ex's hex" didn't feel very much like an obstacle for Damien to overcome as he was already committed to being a bad boy with a shady past who doesn't like two legged animals.

Not Your Ex’s Hexes by April Asher is book #2 in the Supernatural Singles series that I feel absolutely honored to be able to review!
Not Your Ex’s Hexes is a phenomenal grumpy/sunshine-ish witch meets broody half-demon romance full of adorable animals, forced proximity & chemistry hot enough sparks were coming off the page.
The pop culture references mixed with the humor make it an absolute joy to read. There are even mentions of one of my favorite shows, Supernatural!
There’s also chapter titles, which is something I adore that I think is underutilized. They are cheeky, fun & fit perfectly with the humorous & punny writing that I love. Bonus points should be awarded also because there’s a glossary in the back of the book with both helpful & amusing definitions explaining the paranormal creatures & their ways.
The hero of this book is a swoon-worthy, animal loving veterinarian that just happens to be a broody half-demon with a giving heart & he calls her “little witch”. Insert heart eyes here. Then, the heroine is Violet’s sister from the first book, Rose, who is no longer the Prima Apparent for which she trained her whole life to be. Rose now must figure out what to do with all her new found time & what path her new life will take. Then, you add an animal rescue mission gone mistakingly wrong, a hex from one’s teenage ex along with a no strings attached situationship that fails & there’s quite a roller coaster to ride.
I was absolutely ecstatic to fall back into this delightful paranormal world with magic realism. I am happy that this story was just as fantastic as the first one. I also cannot wait to jump back in for the last triplet’s story in book three. The sisters & their closer friends have such a special bond that gives you the gooey, heartwarming feels. Then, you add in the cleverness with the humor that make for such an entertaining time. Finally, it’s action-packed in the action movie matter as well as the spicy sense to create what I think is the definition of an exceptional romance that’s perfect to escape into.
If anyone is looking for a witchy romance to get lost in & like a broody hero with an animal-saving heart of gold, humor & more, I would highly recommend checking out Not Your Ex’s Hexes & the entire series by April Asher!
Not Your Ex’s Hexes comes out February 7, 2023!
The grandest of thanks goes to April Asher, NetGalley & St. Martin’s Press for sending me a physical arc, which I voluntarily read & reviewed. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

This has a lot of tropes that many people like such as forced proximity and good girl bad boy tropes. There was one main trope that I have to say I'm not too much a fan of which is the one night stand. It is something that I did think was well written though and would likely recommend to friends. It didn't have that quality that makes books a five star for me, but it was a solid four stars.

*I received a free ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*
3.5/5 rounded to 3/5
The second book in a series can often fall short of expectations, and I am absolutely thrilled to announce that there is no second book slump going on here! In fact, I think "Not Your Ex's Hexes" may be even better than "Not The Witch You Wed". While the story jumped in right where the first book left off, it was a seamless transition and I would even argue that it could be read as a standalone. I was thrilled to get to know Rose better, and see her get her HEA with a character I would argue is totally unexpected based on what little we knew about her in book 1. Rose's character growth is also excellent. Damian was a wonderful counterpoint for her, and the grumpy/sunshine vibes were IMMACULATE.
I am so excited that the end of NYEH sets up Olive's story to be next. We've been seeing OxB hints since the beginning of book 1, and I am READY for the tension to simmer over! I appreciated that the author carried those threads through book 2, it's building the anticipation so beautifully.

I absolutely loved this one! I haven’t read the first one in the series but found this one engaging and super charming! Perfect fall, Spooky Season read!
I loved the chemistry and banter between Rose and Damian. And there were some SPICY scenes! I wish I learned more about the hex - though it didn’t distract in any way.
I can’t wait to read every other book in the series!

GUYS! To say I loved every part of this book is an understatement! I should probably start by saying that I have not read the first book in the series (oops) but the world this author created drew me in nonetheless. Witches, demons, angels, shifters, and vampires! What more could a girl ask for?! Rose and Damian’s chemistry was to die for. I loved their banter (and spice) and found both characters so down to earth and relatable. I loved how passionate both of them were about animals and how incredibly kind they were to everyone they met. I found myself smiling the whole time. I fell in love with the side characters and would love to read about each of them. I would have enjoyed a little more drama between the characters and maybe a little more self discovery and background information, but I loved this one nonetheless. I genuinely flew through this book and didn’t want it to end! I definitely recommend this if you’re looking for a light witchy rom com for the season.
✨ Good girl x ‘bad’ boy
✨ Opposites attract
✨ One night stand to lovers
✨ Forced proximity
✨ Witch + half demon love

Thank you NetGalley & the author for an ARC of this book. I felt like this book transported me back to my childhood. I was obsessed with Charmed for a hot minute and loved this world of witches and the supernatural. The dynamics between the sisters were perfect, I loved how they were always in each other's corner supporting each other through everything. This book starts off with Rose, the middle sister, having a one-night stand with a demon (half-demon) and after an incident with an attempted Horse heist, she ends up having to finish community service at his vet clinic. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the premise of the hex preventing Damian from ever living his life but I think it worked out pretty well in the long run making him realize things he was shutting off. I loved the banter and the fiery relationship the two main characters had and the side characters just elevated the book. I kept finding myself drifting off and wondering which characters the next book would be about and am excited with the direction Asher is taking. Now all I have to do is read book 1!

Rose Maxwell is a witch who doesn’t know what to do with herself and is looking to focus on herself and find her path. She has an impulsive one night stand with half-demon Damian and can’t get him out of her head. When Rose is sentenced to community service at Damian’s animal sanctuary the sparks fly and they find themselves in a no-strings attached, friends with benefits agreement.
With Damian and Rose spending so much time working and sleeping together, it awakens feelings that they were trying to avoid and feelings Damian knows he cannot have. Because of the hex his ex placed on him, if he falls in love he’ll lose not only his heart but also his humanity.
My thoughts:
I LOVED this book. It was fun, flirty, dramatic at times, sexy, dangerous, steamy, and witty. The end had me totally choked up. ❤️
The characters were great. I was definitely pleased with the amount of character development and backstory. I loved how everything felt complete and the story unfolded giving me everything I needed.
The Maxwell sisters are so much fun!
This is a must read for anyone who is looking for a cute and sexy supernatural love story with great characters and all the feels.
I will admit, I didn’t realize this was # 2 in the Supernatural Singles series but don’t worry - you can totally read this as a standalone. I can’t wait to read the first one and look forward to more in this series! 😍
I was going to review this a little closer to the release date but I couldn’t wait to get this review and recommendation out there!!
Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and April Asher for the opportunity to read this eARC in exchange for my honest review!

* Received a copy for review.
I adored this book. Damian is a grumpy 1/2 demon vet. He’s a 34 year old Aries. His favorite color is black and he’s addicted to anything with mint.” His demon side got him hexed as a teenager so love is not in his plans.
Rose is trying to find her best life. Now that she is not the Prima Apparent anymore, she’s free to find her passions.
Tropes:
*ONS
* grumpy/sunshine
* forced proximity
*sex deal
These two are great from the start. Rose believes that she has found two horses that are being mistreated. Her sisters, their incubus friend, and her are arrested while attempting to free them from an animal rescue run by the grumpy 1/2 demon she hooked up with months ago. Now she has to do community service with this very hot distraction.
Damian does not need the witch he cannot get out of his head in his business everyday. He doesn’t need her help to keep his rescue afloat and really doesn’t need her to charm all the animals and his coworkers too.
There is snark, some paranormal bounty hunting, a soul hex. and Say Anything.

April Asher is such an amazing writer and this is probably my favorite book she's written. The banter and tension between Rose and Damian was off the charts! I love a forced proximity trope and this is a perfect example. I already can't wait for the next book!!
Thank you Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC!

Rose has trained her entire life for the Prima witch position on the Supernatural Council. Now she’s stepped down as her sister came into her powers later in life. Rose is busy trying to find herself when she lands smack dab in from of Damian Adams, half demon, half veterinarian. She hates him, but she also finds herself devilishly attracted to him. Damian has given up his hunting ways, but Rose is interested. He’s in no position to stop the hard headed witch on her quest. When they ultimately sleep together, Damian is convinced he will never be able to give Rose up, but by doing so, he will loose his humanity. Is she worth it?
I really wanted to like this one. I read the description and the reviews and was like YES, but as I got into it I was sorely disappointed. There were so many cutesy euphemisms that I just was turned off. They were so overused that they were distracting. I finally figured out that Mr. Wiggles was the vibrator but wow. I also struggled with the writing style. Perhaps because I kept stumbling through kitschy phrases that it just never held my attention. I found myself annoyed with this book and just couldn’t get into it.
I do think that some people will enjoy this book. If you enjoyed the first book in this series, Not the Witch You Wed, I think you’ll enjoy, though the cute thermometer has been dialed up a lot of notches. Just be prepared. Thank you so much to St Martins Press, @StMartinsPress, and NetGalley, @NetGalley, for a gifted e-ARC in exchange for this honest review.

This book was an excellent little spicy and sweet spooky season treat. I loved Damian and Rose- they had great chemistry and an excellent repartee with each other. Both of them had a little growing to do to be able to really be together and with all of the monsters and supernatural beings and antics, that was a really fun journey to go on. I wish we had learned a little more about the hex earlier but it was still wrapped up really nicely by the end!

I was lucky enough to get a ARC for this book and I rate it a 5/5 stars! We love a grumpy- sunshine, fwb- lovers trope!!
This book was exactly what I needed. A witch demon rom com? AMAZING. I’m obsessed with the characters in this book. I couldn’t stop laughing. April Asher is now a new favorite of mine and I can’t wait to read more by her.
I love Rose and Damian’s banter and how they story plays out.
Ross is a witch and Damian is a half demon who is also a vet. Rose does something wrong and the council decides she needs to do community service and help work at a sanctuary. Little does she know the sanctuary is owned by the hot Damian that she had a one night stand with previously and can’t keep him out of her mind. Damian and Rose will be put to the rest to fight and hold back their feelings for each other.. only thing standing in the way is Damians ex Callie Because thanks to his ex's hex, if he falls in love, he'll not only lose his heart—but his humanity
Thank you St Martins Press for this ARC copy.

Almost 4 stars. So glad I was able to get an early reading of this one. I very much enjoyed Not the Witch you Wed and I feel the same way about Not Your Ex’s Hexes. This was a super cute and very sweet paranormal romance between a powerful witch and a grumpy demon. Grumps are my absolute favorite, and Damien was pretty grumpy in the best of ways. The series follows the Maxwell triplets, and NYEH features Rose, the middle triplet. This picks up right after her botched engagement in the previous book, and needless to say, Rose has some trust issues. Damien, too, has reasons to avoid a relationship, but that doesn’t mean they have to avoid a friends with benefit situation, especially after their scorching one night stand. This book has a bit of magic, several animals (Damien is a vet who runs an animal sanctuary), and lots of steam. Tbh, I was surprised how steamy this one was for a traditionally published book, but I’m def not complaining. I also thought there were a lot of humorous moments, with references to pop culture and lots of banter. The plot was a little predictable and I had a hard time with was all of the abbreviations… they weren’t always spelled out, and sometimes it took a minute for me to figure out what it was in reference to. All in all, NYEH was a fun and lighthearted romantic comedy read. I def enjoyed it and I’m looking forward to the next book, which I’m guessing will be Olive and Bax. Yay!!

Rose Maxwell was trained to become the next Prima on the Supernatural Council. Rose has stepped down from the position and is ready to focus on herself. Unfortunately, this witch can not stop thinking about her one night stand with Damian Adams, a half-demon veterinarian. Neither Rose nor Damian are looking for a relationship but after an unfortunate event, Rose is sentenced to community service at Damian’s animal sanctuary. As they attempt to be “friends with benefits”, Damian is forced into a world he thought he left behind. With Rose and Damian working and sleeping together, they awaken feelings they didn’t know they had. Can they handle falling in love with each other?
I REALLY enjoyed reading this book! It is the second in a series which I found out after, but honestly I didn’t feel like I was left out of anything missing the first one. Rose is a bad-ass witch who you do not want to mess with. The relationship she has with her triplet sisters is so heartwarming. Each one has their own personality and although this book mainly focuses on Rose, you get to witness the other two girls in their life. Damian is a soulful character who has turned his life around for the better. Reading his struggle between his past, present and future was heartbreaking and humbling. The connection and chemistry between the two characters was off the charts and filled with sarcasm and hilarious moments. This was the perfect read for this time of year and I feel so lucky I got to read a copy of it!
Have you read April Asher’s first book Not The Witch You Wed? I have it on my list for this month!! What Halloween themed book have you read this season that you loved?

Y'all... April did an amazing job with Rose and Damian's story! I was so excited to read this story and I can't wait for everybody to read it too!
I appreciate that April names every chapter, because that is not common anymore, but everybody loves it when they see it.
If you like:
-curvy heroine
-urban fantasy
-friends-to-lovers
-funny moments
Then you'll LOVE Not Your Ex's Hexes!!
I received a copy of this book for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.

A great, heartfelt read. Join us as we follow the middle sister in the Maxwell sister triad. Rose has stepped down as the next prima, and the last thing she needed was a *hot* one-night stand with broody Damian Adams. Half demon, local Veterinarian and heart throb. Neither is searching for love but, when rose must participate in community service at his animal sanctuary. Sparks fly... Literally. Rose may have finally found her purpose in life, and she's not backing down this time.
Not even for a cursed hottie with a chip on his shoulder.
A steamy, witchy, wonderful read with plus sized rep and a lovely portrayal of finding yourself in a world that doesn't quite get it. Finished this bad boy in less than 48 hours. Recommending this to every one that I meet this week!

This book reminds me of charmed there was a love story between a witch and a demon on there except that was a lot more action.. I love the storyline and the characters it takes you away to a different place. This book was approved fir me to read and review by netgalley and the publisher.

A hunky veterinarian and a once-Prima Witch find the meaning they’ve both been searching for. I definitely give this book a four flame rating because it’s HOT 🥵.

Cute story 3.5 Stars!

I was really looking forward to this book! One of the best parts of the story truly is Damian. He is a strong character who has changed his life for the better. Kind, giving, a tad grumpy, with a heart of gold.
Rose is a fun-loving, scattered gal who wears her heart on her sleeve, is overrun by sisters, and is totally focused on Damian and helping his business.
This story is a humorous, lighthearted book and Asher takes it to another level that grabs you. There were some spots where it really felt like she was pushing hard for something to be humorous when it truly wasn’t.
The banter seemed overdone in places especially when there was a little tension and the story ramped up with a little suspenseful activity, that’s really not the time for three paragraphs of banter. It almost seemed like the whole storyline was bantering whether it was between the sisters which also felt overdone and also Rose and Damien.
I really truly enjoyed the story overall. I just wish that Rose was not as stubborn and took things a bit more seriously. That is what really put a damper on my overall enjoyment. But you may love it!
