A succinct, clear reference that explains the importance of sexual education, sexual development, sexual and gender identity, romantic relationships, and signs of abuse. A vital resource for any parent or professional who works with children of any age. Non biased and fair, it is written in easily accessible language it’s no frills. A good starting point when try to learn about how we change and how we interact in healthy and positive ways.

Other reviewers mentioned a few oddly worded sentences and I agree with them. There were certain parts of this book that were strange. It didn’t necessarily align with my beliefs so I’m not sure that I’d read it in full again but there are some wonderful takeaways that’ll be helpful for conversations with our preteen daughter.

Sex Education essentials for Tweens by Elaine D. - 4/5

When I can across this book I was thrilled. As a teen I didn't have a parental figure around to explain things to me that involved my body, sex, and health. Having my own teens and something that can be helpful to all of us going through this stage in their lives is amazing. The massive number of topics sets my nerves at ease. I do feel like this has a wide variety of information which is helpful such safe sex, contraception, sexual abuse, and emotions.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

This book will be a great resource for Tweens, Teens, and their parents! The breadth of topics covered is outstanding, however I would include a few more links to further information embedded in each chapter to allow for even more access to information. I identify as nonbinary and queer and there was no information about that that I saw, asexuality also seemed to be lacking in information. There were a few weirdly written sentences as well, Both boys and girls do this because the penis is easier
to access and more familiar with touching; boys masturbate more
than girls.".

That being said, I hope that this book, with a few tweaks becomes a standard on the shelves of parents, teachers, and tweens alike!
