This was such a fun read! The genre Bending between scfi/dystopian with the romance. I loved the adventure and seeing Theo and Wren develop individually and together. Hoping for a second book!!

"It matters. It all matters. Every bloody moment matters."

So there's going to be a sequel right? Right? Right?

If the movies Chasing Liberty, Leap Year, and Starstruck all got together and made a romcom baby it would be this book. These are my favorite kinds of trainwrecks of comfort stories, full of everyday kind of magic and tropes. And I can't believe I've had an arc of The Prince & The Apocalypse for months and just now picked it up. But also, the audiobook was totally worth the wait. I could listen to Laura Knight Keating narrate a dictionary. Top tier talent.

Don't go into the book expecting hardcore apocalyptic. It's more apocalyptic lite. Apocalyptic adjacent, if you will. Wren Wheeler has flown five thousand miles across the ocean for her senior-year trip to London. It was supposed to be epic and life-changing. But litrally (not a typo) all her perfect planning goes up in flames. With only one checklist item left to try and get right, (spoiler alert: it doesn't) Wren runs into a very cute and mysterious guy named Theo. Theo has plenty of secrets of his own, including the just released knowledge of a comet on it's way to destroy the world as we know it. With his help and a bunch of other small catastrophes and many many shenanigans, Wren tries to make it home before the end of the world. When life as they know it will be over in days, is it possible to find a happy ending?

I adored Wren. She was bossy and smart and funny and compassionate. I couldn't get enough of her story. I wish we could have gotten more of Theo's pov. He seemed just as complicated and complex as character. And with *that* cliffhanger ending, I want more of his story, too. In many ways, he reminded me of Prince Henry from Red, White & Royal Blue. This is my first Kara McDowell book and it definitely won't be the last.

Wren Wheeler is an 18-year-old American on a trip to London the summer after her senior year of high school. Wren plans to attend law school like her perfect older sister. Wren is all about plans. She's determined to accomplish everything Brooke has, up to and including this trip. Wren's time in England goes from bad to worse. By the last day, she is homesick, physically sick, and wants to go home. She and her best friend have fallen out. Wren hasn't done anything on her planned itinerary, so she vows to accomplish one last thing - breakfast at the World's End pub. When she gets there, she finds it closed. Upset she asks a guy for a light and burns her itinerary. She finds out that the guy is the crown Prince of England. He's escaped the palace, and the paparazzi are closing in. Quick-thinking Wren jumps in to help him evade them. Things escalate quickly — which turns out to be a good thing, because in eight days, a comet is going to hit the Earth and end all life as we know it will be gone. Wren and Theo's friendship develops. They decide decorum is a waste and will be honest with each other . They decide to travel to an island - Santorini (via Paris and Milan) and fly Wren home. Along the way their misadventures are funny and at the same time desperate. They travel by planes, trains, automobiles and various other methods of transport. At one point Wren rescues a dog and name it Comet. Will the crown price stay or go. Back to the royal family and stay in a bunker? Will Wren make it home?

The author has written a book with humor and also serious at the same time. All the planning they do to get to Santorini ends up being different than thought. The characters get frustrated and almost give up. I loved the communication between them.

This book was so delightfully unexpected! I didn't read any reviews or the description going in; I just knew the cover was so fun and that it was a YA.

Wren is finally at the end of her perfectly planned London adventure of which the itinerary now lies in metaphorical tatters. She has one last item on her plan and is determined to make breakfast at the World's End Restaurant a reality. When she arrives it is, of course, closed, but she meets a boy who suspiciously looks like a runaway British Prince and scores a favor from him by assisting him in escaping a pack of tourists.

When news of an impending disaster hits the airways, flights are grounded and Wren just wants to get home to her family before it's too late. She calls in the aforementioned favor and Theo and Wren embark on a multi-country adventure as they race against the clock.

This book was really lovely. It was sweet and had great sentimental moments. Because it had a high-stakes feel, the short timeline felt like a realistic amount of time for two teens to fall for each other. There were so many sweet moments as they slowly fell for each other and it felt like their relationship was fated. I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator really brought Wren and Theo to life!

If this is a stand-alone book, I will riot. That CLIFFHANGER! Suspend disbelief for a few hours and dive in; the romance is sweet and you won't be sorry.

This is a delightful romantic comedy and one that I consider a hidden gem: talk about boats, trains, and an accidentally stolen automobile! I was really here for a story with elements of a gender-reversed Princess Diaries that was action-packed. My nerdy-brainy self loved this story with each turn of the page and I highly recommend adding this to your TBR.

Meet Wren Wheeler. She's an American teenager stranded in London, England. It wasn't supposed to be this way. She was just supposed to be on her life-changing trip for senior-year, but once there, all she really wants is to go home. It's the last day and there is only one item left to check-off on her itinerary, and that's breakfast at The World's End restaurant. She arrives, and the restaurant is closed. Perfect. But then she sees a boy... a very cute boy...

Meet Theo. He's the British crown prince with a posh accent. He also happens to be on the run from the palace and his controlling mother. He meets a girl outside of a restaurant and she helps him escape a swarm of tourists. He offers her a favour in return, scribbling his number down and giving it to her. Then the unthinkable happens: a comet is approaching Earth and the world is ending in eight days. And she calls, looking for that favour…

Read what happens when they strike a deal: she will be his bodyguard from London to his family in Santorini, and he will charter his private jet to take her home in time to say goodbye to her family.

This book was a delight I didn’t see coming. The summary made it sound like a fun read, but I really was not prepared for just how much fun it was. It really made me rethink my image of the apocalypse and had me thinking about the book and love when I wasn’t reading. I really enjoyed the authors use of humour, as there were points in the book where I was crying and questioning why I was even here. Hahaha that was a fun moment for my husband to walk in on! Yes, there was a mountain of Kleenex beside me and I was crying through my tears. It was a moment!

I’m really hoping for a sequel to this story, as I would love to see where the characters go and what happens in this wacky, loveable world. Be sure to read this book before it’s too late (haha, get it?)!

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press, and Wednesday Books for a temporary e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I find myself not reading as many YA stories lately, but this one did intrigue me with the synopsis so I’m glad I was able to read an early copy.

This was definitely one of those romantic stories you can easily read in a day. It’s quick and engaging the whole time, and the characters felt very mature for their age. I loved the character development of Theo and Wren & their chemistry changing over the story.

The banter between both of them was amazing. I loved the idea behind traveling with a prince, and the insight of why Theo wants to flee away.

The whole point of the book was following the “end of the world” kind of trope, so I do wish that played a bigger role in this. However, I still had such a great time with this book and I couldn’t put it down.

This book ended on a cliffhanger. It makes me wonder if there’s more to Wren and Theo or if there’s a bigger meaning behind that ending.

Overall, this was a fun and lighthearted read. I don’t think it’ll be for everyone, but I definitely had a great time reading it. The characters are well-written and enjoyable, and the traveling was greatly written. I also loved the banter and chemistry. I would certainly recommend this one!

This was a very cute story with high stakes of well the end of the world. I loved the pacing of this one and the ending. It was just what I was looking for. This better not be only one book because that ending was killer and so hard to read. I need a book two ASAP as I need to know what is going to happen!!!

You know how, sometimes, you just need a fun, highly entertaining book to sweep you away for a little while? That’s what The Prince & The Apocalypse was like, for me. Thinking about the world ending and everything surrounding that awful fate is kind of terrifying, yet Kara McDowell turned this into an exciting mix of wanderlust, romance and just, fun. I just had SO much fun reading this, friends.
In this book, we follow Wren, a teenager traveling from the US to London on a school trip…where she accidentally meets Prince Theodore, the eldest Queen’s son. An encounter that makes her miss her flight… and leaves her stranded in a foreign country, on the edge of the end of the world. I absolutely loved this premise, it was original, unique, a fun mix of romance and thrilling adventure. I wasn’t bored once while reading this book and couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. And, of course, if the unlikely duo Wren/Theodore would survive. (Fine, and kiss, as well).
When was such a great main character. Like all of Kara McDowell’s main characters, I found her super relatable. I loved her determination, her love for her family shone through the book and definitely could relate to her need to control everything.
I also really loved Theodore! He’s a bit of a messed-up prince, uncertain of his place in the world and the place he really wants to be, in. He’s also a character dealing with depression, just as well and I found that casual mention so lovely in a book like this one.
Let’s take a moment to talk about the romance. It’s fantastic! If you love a good slow-burning romance, you should really enjoy this one. I adored the banter between these characters and was rooting for them, right from the very beginning.
Oh, the travel. You know traveling is the second best thing to me after (hell, even equal to) reading and this book has it all. I really enjoyed feeling transported in England, in Paris, on the lovely beaches in Greece and had so much fun following the characters’ adventures there.
No spoilers, but that ending messed me up. I hope we’ll get more of it!

If you’re looking for a highly entertaining YA book with royalty romance, high-end-of-the-world stakes, banter, and a healthy dose of wanderlust, you need to pick up The Prince & The Apocalypse asap. You should love it!!

I don't know what I was expecting with this book, but it was not this...This book is so unexpected. This book is absolutely epic! I loved every moment of it and words cannot do it justice. Trust me, just go read it! I have the audiobook on my list, too. I just want to savor every moment again.

What happens when a chance meeting with the royal prince occurs as the world is about to end? This book had such emotional depth, a pure, sweet romance, a dog, impending doom but still managed to be a fun-filled adventure! Wren and Theo...be still me heart. Please tell me there is a second book?!

Did I love this book, yes. Am I so annoyed with that cliffhanger, YES. I definitely think the end of the world would be as chaotic as it sounded for sure. But I love how every step of their trip was just a series of unfortunate events and yet it kept working out for them. I thought Wren and Theo were so cute and how they worked with each other. Also Comet is the best character, no doubt.

I absolutely loved this!! It was such an easy and fast paced read to get through. I love the way Prince Theo was portrayed because it wasn’t at all what I had expected. I really related to Wren’s character as well and just loved how the relationship blossomed. It was such a good read and I’m looking forward to more by this author.

Wren Wheeler is stranded in London as the world is ending. Her class trip has been a bust because she's been sick, leaving her unable to complete the itinerary she's spent years crafting. Before the trip's end, there's only one item she can get right -- breakfast at the World's End restaurant. But the restaurants closed. One thing leads to the next, and soon she's helping a cute boy, who looks a lot like the missing prince, hide, but misses her flight home. She strikes a deal with him, agreeing to be his bodyguard on his way to Santorini in exchange for passage back to her family.

I love all of the modes of transportation in this book. Wren and Theo have this sweet relationship that's quirky and beautiful to watch blossom as he helps her let go of her need for plans and she seems him for who he is (not the prince and heir to the crown). It's emotional, has end of the world stakes, and so much heart. For being a 'we're about to face the end of the world' situation, it's not heavy, but filled with hope and taking risks. It's an absolute delight with a perfect ending!

The book follows Wren, a girl who missed her flight home from London, and Theo, a prince on the run from his family as they try to get Wren home in the eight days before a comet hits and destroys Earth.

I really loved this book! Wren and Theo’s adventures kept me hooked and I was dying to know if they’d make it out alive or not. I would love to see a sequel. This is a really fun summer book and I would recommend it to anyone who loves books set in Europe!

A superb mashup of genres that include a swoonworthy royal romance and the end of the world.

Wren planned out her itinerary for her trip to England to the very second. Yet, when she gets sick and spends most of her time in the hotel bathroom, Wren is convinced her trip has been entirely ruined. In a last-ditch effort to stick to her original plans, she heads out to visit the World’s End Inn. On her way, she runs into—quite literally—the missing crowned prince, Theo. After Wren realizes the world is about to end in eight days, Wren and Theo team up to navigate a world in chaos in order for Wren to find her way home. The Prince and the Apocalypse by Kara McDowell gives readers the best ingredients of both romance and sci-fi to make a incredible book that truly comes to life.

I have had this book on my radar since it was first announced. The synopsis made it sound like such a delight. Royalty romances are one of my favorite things but add the pending doom of the world ending and I'm entirely sold.

I have never read a book by Kara McDowell so I went into the book not knowing what to expect. McDowell's writing, however, lends for a quick and fun reading experience. The superb writing allows readers to feel immersed in the world she has created. I rarely cry when reading, but McDowell's writing, coupled with the end of the world situations, had me tearing up.

There is representation of depression in this, including suicidal thoughts. I wasn’t expecting it, since I went into the book expecting a cute romance based on the cover. It may be triggering for some.

While the end of the world is no laughing matter, McDowell couples that seriousness with a swoon-worthy romance. With the mashup of genres, I had initially wondered how the book would read. Fortunately, the book does not feel disjointed in marrying two very different elements. The Prince and the Apocalypse is even fast-paced enough to be a great summer read.

There's an underlying feeling of sadness to the whole book. I mean, the world is ending and these characters have to make impossible choices but I didn't expect it to feel so heartbreaking and real. In part, McDowell's writing immerses you in this world with Theo and Wren. Honestly, I was dreading the end, not only would the book be over, but I would have to say goodbye to these characters in more way than one. The ending was upsetting. If only I could have had 50 more pages to stay longer in the world.

The two main characters, Theo and Wren, are forced together when an impossible situation—the end of the world—occurs. While I usually don’t read books that involve apocalyptic events, I found McDowell's take on how the world would fall into chaos to be entirely believable. The apocalypse is as much of a character as Theo and Wren as it continues to stand in their way and moves their every decision. It brings about some great tropes like forced proximity, fake dating, and even a road trip. The book was fantastic, and most definitely not to be missed!

The Prince and the Apocalypse by Kara McDowell was such a great read. It was truly a breath of fresh air as it marries a royal romance with the apocalypse. If you adore end of the world plots or romances that make you swoon, you will simply love this book.

I love reading stand alones like this in between my larger series. They are wonderfully sweet palate cleansers. Adorable characters, interesting plots and easy reads

I absolutely adore Kara McDowell and have read multiple books by her, so when I saw The Prince & The Apocalypse on Netgalley, I just knew I had to read it. (Fun fact: her debut book Just For Clicks was my first Netgalley review!)

This book is an adventure through Europe at the end of the world. I loved the characters, and they had amazing chemistry. It was funny, but still emotional.

The book could totally be a Movie. The plot and characters would translate beautifully to the big screen.

And gosh, that ending!! I typically don't like epilogues, but I definitely wish there was one. I just wanted more!

This was plain amazing. I have loved everything I have read by Kara McDowell and this was no different. Wren and Theo are two characters who fit together perfectly, they balance each other out. I loved the way Theo was so candid with Wren, the adventures they went on together and the way they fell in love throughout the story. I had zero idea what the ending would be and the way the ending surprised me was WILD. I really hope we get either a sequel or a novella because that ending was a HUGE cliffhanger.

OMG!! This was so, so, so, so GOOD!! A fast-paced, mad cap end of the world road trip YA romance that sees Ren, an American teen stranded in London as a comet is hurtling toward Earth, running into and striking a bargain with Theo, the crown prince and heir on the run from his family.

If you like road trip romance, British royalty, books that tackle depression and mental health and jovial labradors you really don't want to miss this one. I seriously couldn't get enough of this adventure romcom that goes from car, train, boat and plane while one teen tries to reunite with her family before the world ends and another is trying to escape from the privilege of his position.

Great on audio with a cliffhanger/jaw drop ending that hints at a sequel (THERE BETTER BE A SEQUEL!!). I loved every second and so wish someone makes this into a movie!! 10/10 recommend!! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
