Grace takes a vacation to Wyoming in order to unwind from her work in New York. The ranch she chooses to visit is a very remote ranch, but she enjoys being so far away from everything. She is also attracted to Calvin, the ranch owner, who she feels has a close relationship with her. When Calvin begins to become obsessed with Grace, it soon becomes obvious that she is growing increasingly worried about her, especially when a sheriff shows up asking about a missing girl named Briana that was supposed to have stayed at the ranch before Grace arrived. Although he claims to not know her, does he really?

I really enjoyed the twist of this one! I thought I knew where it was going, but that ending was exciting. Very fun read.

Jeneva Rose's "You Shouldn't Have Come Here" presents an intriguing premise with elements of suspense and mystery that initially captivate the reader. The novel follows a protagonist who finds herself drawn into a web of secrets and danger after a chance encounter with a mysterious stranger. While the story holds promise, there are several aspects that prevent it from reaching its full potential.

One of the strengths of "You Shouldn't Have Come Here" lies in its atmospheric setting. Rose skillfully creates a sense of unease and tension, particularly in the isolated locations where much of the action takes place. The eerie ambiance adds to the overall suspense, making it a compelling read for fans of psychological thrillers.

However, where the novel falls short is in its execution of plot and character development. The pacing can be uneven, with moments of intense action followed by lulls in momentum that disrupt the flow of the narrative. Some plot twists feel predictable or forced, diminishing the impact of what could have been more surprising revelations.

Similarly, the characters, while initially intriguing, lack depth and fail to evolve significantly throughout the story. The protagonist's decisions sometimes feel inconsistent with her established motivations, making it difficult for readers to fully empathize or connect with her plight. Secondary characters, including the mysterious stranger, often remain enigmatic to the point of being underdeveloped.

The writing style in "You Shouldn't Have Come Here" is straightforward and accessible, which serves the fast-paced nature of the plot. However, it occasionally lacks the descriptive richness needed to fully immerse readers in the emotional and psychological depths of the characters' experiences.

In conclusion, "You Shouldn't Have Come Here" is a decent thriller with moments of suspense and intrigue that will appeal to readers looking for a quick, atmospheric read. While the novel offers a compelling premise and evocative setting, its uneven pacing and underdeveloped characters prevent it from achieving greatness. For those who enjoy psychological suspense with a hint of mystery, this book may still provide an entertaining escape, but it falls short of leaving a lasting impact.

First, thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sending me the e-arc. I always have a blast with Jeneva Rose's writing but this one disappointed me a little. I thoroughly enjoyed the unexpected ending of this book. However, I felt like every wrong decision that is made in a bad horror movie happened in this book and I was constantly yelling don't do that! I look forward to what she comes out with next.

It was an okay read, but it definitely wasn’t memorable to me. There were too many things about the story and plot I didn’t like, and therefore it wasn’t memorable. I tried to enjoy it as much as I could, and there were definitely parts I did enjoy but sadly there weren’t enough moments I enjoyed to say I liked the book.

I didn't get a chance to download before the link expired. Read the title on another platform and gave it 3 stars. Love Jeneva!

it felt like a really slow book till the end and I think I really just needed more. I’m not always a fan when authors leave all the excitement for the very end, still, I can appreciate that there were many clues here and there that are connected nicely by the end.

I love Jeneva Rose, but this book was a miss for me. I was not expecting 90% of this book to be romance, and I did not love the twist. Excited to see what she writes in the future, though!

Suspenseful and full of twists and turns, You Shouldn't Have Come Here was a thoroughly enjoyable read that I would recommend to fans of Lucy Foley or Lisa Unger. This was my first Jeneva Rose book, and it won't be my last. I loved Grace as a main character. She felt very relatable and easy to care about. The setting of Wyoming was really interesting as I don't normally see something like that in thrillers I read. I found the pacing good, it was slow until it picked up in the middle, and I enjoyed that.

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I love this author but unfortunately this book just didn’t work for me. I pushed through hoping it would get better but no such luck.

The characters in You Shouldn't Have Come Here are brilliantly crafted, each with their own secrets and motivations that add layers of complexity to the story. I found myself completely immersed in their lives, rooting for them, doubting them, and ultimately, fearing for their safety as the tension escalated.

One of the standout aspects of this novel is Rose's ability to create an atmosphere of palpable tension and unease. Every shadowy corner and whispered conversation drips with suspense, keeping you on the edge of your seat and frantically turning pages late into the night.

Thank you for the ARC copy of You Shouldnt of Come here. Took me awhile to get to this one but finally did. It was very fast paced which I liked and I thought overall the story was interesting and kept me reading from page one. Not only was it a thriller but also I felt had some romantic suspense thrown in it as well. I give this one a 3 stars! A bit of a slow burn but good enough to get through it all!

I just couldn't do it. I'm not a big fan of her work to begin with, but this one was a no for me. Everything was just off.

This book was not for me, which is a shame, because I really wanted to like it

Sadly a lot of my friends weren't fans either. Fingers crossed we all like her next one more!

This one wasn't for me. I ended up listening to on audio and maybe that's that threw me off? It was just kind of a weird storyline. I kept yelling at the main character that she had to get out of there. Like who stays at an Airbnb with no WiFi and no lock on the door? Weird vibes all around.

I requested this one because of the gorgeous cover but honestly that was the only redeeming factor for me. This was a SLOW burn and far too much romance for what is marketed as a thriller. The only action that happened occurred in the last 5% but it was extremely rushed. This MIGHT work for those looking for more of an obsession romance story, but unfortunately this wasn't thrilling for me.

Thank you to the publisher for providing an ARC via NetGalley.

Not my favorite book by the author. I listened to it on audiobook rather than reading it. I would add it to my library collection.

One of those books that you can't put down! Easy to spend an afternoon getting lost with these characters and plot. Highly recommend it.

Grace Evans, the overworked New Yorker, seeks solace in the remote ranches of Wyoming, only to find herself entangled in a romance laced with mystery. The book opens with promise, setting up a classic 'escape to the countryside' scenario, but as the story unfolds, it falls into a somewhat predictable rhythm.

Rose's writing shines in her vivid descriptions of the Wyoming landscape – a true getaway from the bustling city life. The ranch, with its rustic charm and lack of cell service, becomes a character in itself. Calvin Wells, the ranch owner, initially strikes as a breath of fresh air for Grace, offering a glimpse into a life far removed from her hectic New York routine.

However, the story hits a plateau midway. The romance between Grace and Calvin, while initially intriguing, soon treads into familiar territory. Their relationship evolves quickly, yet lacks the depth that could have made their emotional journey more compelling. The missing woman subplot adds an element of suspense but doesn't fully deliver the punch one would expect from a thriller.

Calvin's transformation from a charming host to an obsessive lover feels abrupt. The story teases at deeper psychological depths but skims the surface. Grace's own secrets, hinted at throughout the book, could have been explored more to add layers to her character.

Overall, a decent read, but not one I would HIGHLY recommend.

Thank you so much to Blackstone Publishing and NetGalley for the advanced reading copy in exchange for my honest review.
