You Shouldnt Have Come Here by Jeneva Rose is a thrilling, quick read, perfect for a cozy weekend.
I read this book right after reading The Perfect Marriage, so I tried early on to guess the twist. I enjoyed the Perfect Marriage's set up and twists and turns. This novel after the first felt a little more confused. It was a thriller romance but too predictable for me after reading The Perfect Marriage. I felt untrusting of the main character and was frustrated by her. But it was an entertaining read, and maybe if you did not just read another of the authors books, you might not guess the ending.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC of this title.

What was this? A Hallmark Country love story? It wasn’t a thriller, that’s for sure, and what the hell? There was very little about it that sparked a thrill. It was a letdown, sorry.

I had the ABSOLUTE PLEASURE of reading this amazing ARC of “You Shouldn’t Have Come Here” by Jeneva Rose, and this book did not disappoint.
Grace Evan’s, a New Yorker, books an Airbnb in Wyoming to take a break from her hectic life. When she arrives at the Airbnb she is surprised that it is owned by such a handsome man (Calvin Wells). Set in a small town, where there’s no service, nothing to do, uninviting locals, a missing woman, and secrets, despite Grace’s growing uneasiness, Grace and Calvin start to fall for each other. As Grace’s departure nears though, things take a turn for the worse and Calvin’s love for Grace turns more into an obsession, and Calvin is afraid that Grace may be keeping secrets of her own..
This book was such a whirlwind. The second I started reading it I was completely hooked and couldn’t put it down. The first half of the book I spent trying to figure out who is the crazy one in the story and trying to figure out how it was going to end. But each page and each twist just got crazier and I found myself trying to get to the end so I can find out once and for all, the secrets that everyone was keeping and why! And let me tell you, this book has THE BEST twist at the end, I couldn’t believe it. I cannot wait to get my hands on a physical copy of this because this is book you will want to read more than once!

Knock, Knock!
Welcome to Wyoming where you get to stay on a secluded ranch with the handsome owner named Calvin.
However, people and places can be deceiving, as secrets from this small town and AIRBNB owner start coming to light as drama descends because of the new guest Grace that comes to stay, well all good things must come to an end.
This was one of those suspenseful thrillers that sucker punches towards the end, and boy did it send me spinning.
I literally did not see that coming, and that brought me to have this book 5 stars.
The book is written in two person POV, Grace and Calvin ping ponging between
them each section of chapters going through each day. If you have read Jeneva's first book it has similar writing style to that one.
Through out the book I wasn't quite sure where things were leading, I also trying to guess who was going to be the murderer and why. (because duh the cover has blood on it!)
I would have liked more insight with the characters when it was there turn and more suspense!, for example for certain scenes or conversations I would have like to know that others persons thoughts when that was happening, but it did add more curiosity for the reader to give the finale the well done it deserved.
This was one of those books I flew through while on a mini vacation staying in a Cabin over the weekend. I highly recommend adding this one to your vacation TBR for 2023.

Thank you to the publisher for my copy - all opinions are my own.
I LOVED this book, hands down this is one of those unique and building intensity plotlines that you don't expect, in the best possible way.
I very honestly went into this book pretty blind - a few fellow readers had raved about it and I decided that it sounded like something I would enjoy so I dove in headfirst. I would TOTALLY recommend this strategy, because knowing very little about what is going on made for a very fun reading ride.
A woman whose booked into a remote AirBnb across the country for a getaway; a host who is a little too interested in her, but who is also attractive, charming and sweet enough to be appealing; a simmering undercurrent of something being not quite right; a sheriff snooping around investigating a missing woman who had also been headed to the same rental not long before.
You THINK you know where this story is headed, it seems utterly predictable and I can promise you it's anything but. Delightfully devious, twisted and dark.... it is a must have for thriller readers!!

TW: dead animals, gun violence, alcoholism, arson, death of a loved one
Grace is a Type A person with everything in her life planned out meticulously, so each year she throws a dart at a map of America and that’s how she decides where to go on vacation. This year she goes to an Air Bnb in Wyoming & her hot host seems a little off … I’m going to rate this one as a psychological suspense because I wouldn’t personally classify it as a thriller!
Jeneva is so good at telling a story but I think she underestimates herself. She was so good at setting the scene and making me suspicious and notice clues but at the end of a lot of the chapters she ended up explicitly stating questions that you want the reader to feel without explicitly saying so. For example, how far would that person go to protect it and what would happen if they couldn’t find it? I want to feel that and not have to read it.
Most mystery/thriller authors have the one book where the plot is about gaslighting a woman with mental health issues but this book showed that you could follow a similar structure WITHOUT having to capitalize on that trope! Absolutely 10 ⭐️ for that specifically.
I liked the will they won’t they storyline and how the relationship developed & as a psychological suspense I didn’t really care about the improbability of it all.!!
Overall, quite a good psychological suspense! Jeneva always has me marvelling at how much she can make me see the entire book unfold like a movie.

For a vacation from NYC, Grace picks a ranch in Wyoming. While she’s not pleased with the lack of wifi and cell service (not to mention the missing woman), she likes the home owner, Calvin. As Grace and Calvin’s bond grows, she catches him in lies. Is it innocent nerves or something more sinister?
I loved how this one was written. Perfectly structured for the thriller and suspense novel it was. The short, alternating POV chapters were perfect in building the intensity AND in making you think you knew the characters. There is much to learn and you’ll learn it all in the end and be shocked. I was.
“Coyotes, foxes, raccoons, hawks, owls - heck, even humans. We’re all predators to something.”
You Shouldn’t Have Come Here comes out 4/25.

“You Shouldn’t Have Come Here,” is tough to love. On paper, it should work — there’s a thrilling premise and a flipping POV between two titular characters. It’s a plot device that, if done well, can really build tension in a book like this one.
That’s not how it actually played out, however. Once started, it was really difficult to get into the story. Neither of the characters are particularly likable or relatable, making it impossible to root for anyone, and the antagonist of this is far too obvious from the jump. (I figured it out nearly halfway through the book.)
On the other hand, something that worked well was the major plot twist at the end. Albeit hard to believe, and lacking some clarifying details that would have helped fill a few gaps in the plot, it helped facilitate an intriguing conclusion that mixed things up a bit.
All in all, “You Shouldn’t Have Come Here” may be a good pick for someone looking for an easy thriller to read — it just wasn’t for me.

Great read. The dual perspectives held me interest and the subtle clues along the way kept me guessing. The ending was surprising and satisfying. I'm wondering if there will be additional books with this character.

Thank you Net Galley for the Advanced Reader Copy - This book was a complete MISS for me. The dialogue was juvenile and superficial. 85% of the book felt like a poorly written romance with sprinkles of what was supposed to be foreshadowing, but felt forced and cringy. The analogies were pathetic and unnecessary. I would cringe every time I read about Grace's, 'blue blue eyes'. Sorry, but this book is not one I would recommend.

📖 YOU SHOULDN’T HAVE COME HERE BY JENEVA ROSE
🕵🏻 Grace Evans is an overworked New Yorker looking for total escape from her busy life, books an Airbnb on a ranch in the middle of Wyoming. When she arrives at the idyllic getaway, she’s pleased to find that the owner is a handsome man named Calvin Wells - and he’s eager to introduce her to his easygoing way of life. But there are things Grace discovers that she’s not too pleased about: a lack of cell phone service, a missing woman, and a feeling that something isn’t right with the ranch.
👩🏻💻 Well this was a read-in-one-sitting delight! Grace and Calvin had great chemistry, albeit over the top, and their alternating perspectives kept the story moving quickly. This story is like a juicy soap opera. So much drama and intrigue - very Desperate Housewives. Throw in murder and a missing woman and you’ve got a great thriller.
Is it strange that I really want to go to a remote Airbnb in Wyoming now? Mostly for the vibes of the town and the unending night sky…

Thanks so much netgalley for the chance to read this book! I’ve read other books by jeneva and really enjoyed them but this book just didn’t do it for me. It was pretty predictable from the beginning but I must say I did not expect the ending. This book was alright but nothing incredible in my opinion.

I recently read You Shouldn't Have Come Here by Jeneva Rose and I absolutely loved it! It was a thrilling and suspenseful journey that kept me on the edge of my seat. The plot was creative and well-crafted and I was engaged from the beginning.

I love Jeneva, but this fell really flat for me until the end. It started off good- creepy. Secluded area, away from everyone with no cell service? This had potential. The ending was the best part. The novel had it’s moments throughout but the end was the Jeneva that I know.
I’ll still pick up her next book as she has become one of my auto authors.

Deciding to getaway from the city life, Grace went on a trip to Wyoming and booked a Airbnb on a ranch for a week.
A place with no WiFi and call service? If that's not enough being the sign of red flag that something fishy is going on, polices are currently investigating for a case of a missing woman who's supposed to check into the Airbnb a week ago (whom the ranch owner-Calvin claims that she failed to show up)?
With a lot of twists & turns, You Shouldn't Have Come Here is packed with suspense and mystery that'll grasp the attention of readers.

Jeneva Rose’s books do not disappoint. I have loved every book I’ve read by her. This one was so good as well!

If you enjoy Hallmark movies and thrillers, You Shouldn't Have Come Here by Jeneva Rose is the book for you. The lead character, Grace Evans, is looking for an escape from her stressful city life. She finds solace in an Airbnb in rural Wyoming. Sounds ideal, right? Grace soon finds that things are not what they seem, and the handsome ranch hand she falls for may not be the knight in shining armor she imagined. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced e-galley.

What's it about?
Grace is an overworked New Yorker who needs an escape, so she books an AirBNB in the middle of nowhere Wyoming. The owner of the place, a handsome man named Calvin, is eager to introduce himself and spend time with her. It's strange, though...when Grace arrives, there's no cell service, it seems there's a missing woman, and she has a strange feeling about the ranch. Despite this, the two start to fall for one another quickly. Is this a playful romance? Or is this something more complicated? Is Grace hiding something? Is Calvin?
Going into this one, you know something bad's going to happen. I mean hello, Grace. You're a single woman staying at a creepy ranch by yourself (no cell service) with the owner of the place. I guess it helps that he's hot, right? I have mixed feelings about this book. I knew there had to be some romance going into it given the synopsis, but I personally feel like it was 85% romance with some creepy scenes and suspense dropped in. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but wasn't what I was expecting.
One of the reveals I saw coming from the get-go, but the final twist was absolutely jaw-dropping. So much so, that I wished the rest of the book had that same tension and drama rather than just the last 10%. It took a long time to get there, which is why this book was a quick read for me, but overall just okay. Enjoyed it, but didn't love as much as some of her other books!

I was expecting this to be more of a thriller/mystery but it did really feel like that. It was pretty slow and took a long time (like 60-70%) to pick up. The ending did have a good twist, and I will say that it definitely made me race to the end. I just wasn't completely impressed with this one unfortunately.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own. Out April 25.

WOW! I was NOT expecting the twist at all!!
I'm a huge fan of Jeneva's work so I knew I'd enjoy this book. I have to say, I was skeptical through the first half not knowing what was going to happen. If slow burn in a thriller/suspense novel is a thing, this book is the epitome of that! I was glad that about 70% of the way through things picked up, and all hell broke loose!
That twist at the end was insane, and completely out of nowhere. True Jeneva fashion!
