The Paris Soulmate is a quick, easy to read story with characters who are likable and enjoyable. I really liked the representation of someone with a chronic illness and what that could look like (since it's different for each and every person).

I thought the characters meeting was a strong plot point and felt like a special moment.

There was a lot of times where I felt the writing was "telling" instead of "showing" and that's really hard to get past. There were some cliche'd lines and phrases that kept finding their ways in and it felt difficult to stay connected to the story, ultimately. 2.5 round up to 3.

What a lighthearted yet poignant read. I didn’t expect to enjoy this as much as I did but I thought it was a great read.

It was a book about:

❤️ Friends to Lovers
❤️ Instant romantic connection
❤️Paris ❤️
❤️Secrets from friends
❤️ Medical Illnesses

It was just full of love, romance and hope. It was about insecurities, illnesses and how sometimes you need to take life by the balls (literally in a sense) and live it to the fullest.

I love a book with multiple POV’s and this book had that. We got an insight into Christine’s perspective and Colin’s. I love hearing from both and how they’re thinking.

I was shocked at the plot twist and the twists and turns the book took us on. The book definitely is full of drama, romance and it’s set in Paris… the city of LOVE! ❤️

Thank you @netgalley and to @enchantingbrookev for allowing me access to this ARC. It was the perfect Christmas read for me!

The Paris Soulmate is a sweet book filled with lots of romance and is sure to give every reader the feeling of wanderlust. Christine has been struggling for years with her health due to an autoimmune disorder that has limited her confidence in herself and her ability to date. As her 30th birthday is approaching and her health has been stable for a while, Christine decides it is time to take the solo trip of a lifetime to Paris. This is where she runs into Collin, a British traveler headed to Paris on a work trip. Unbeknownst to Christine, Collin was hired by her best friend to ensure she was ok during her travels abroad. What could happen when Collin is sweet, charming, and everything Christine could ever want in a man?

This book was sweet and very romantic, with 7 days filled with two people falling in love in Paris. Collin and Christine visit all the sights and meet a few interesting people that add to their trip immensely. This book was sometimes boring and dragged on in some spots, especially between the couple's arrival in Paris and the climax. SOO much happens in this book while simultaneously nothing at the same time. While I enjoyed some parts, I also pushed through many parts to finish the book.
I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to fall in love in Paris and likes reading about instalove.

This was a cute, fun, quick romantic comedy! I enjoyed it - I think fans of The Spanish Love Deception will like this one.

“The Paris Soulmate” was definitely a lovey-dovey, overly sweet, Hallmark-esque romance novel. If you like insta love and believe in finding your soulmate on a 7 day trip to Paris, this is the book for you.

While I love a cutesy romance novel and all of the mushy-gushy that often accompanies this genre, I found this book to be almost too sweet, and unbelievable. i found it dragging a little toward the middle when the whole storyline was just “I love you” “no I love you more” etc.

Overall, a cute read but maybe too innocent for my taste.

This was a romance set mostly in Paris. A quick easy read. Christine suffers with chronic illness but is determined to travel to Paris to fulfill a secret desire.
Christine’s best friend Lola is pregnant and can’t travel to Paris with Christine but secretly wants to ensure Christine is safe.
Colin, an out of work actor also has a secret. He is travelling to Paris and helps Christine when she has a panic attack.
I loved the way movies and songs were interspersed throughout the story. Also I loved the descriptions of the tourist attractions and places visited by Christine and Colin.

"A woman with autoimmune disorders & a "no dating policy." A mysterious, cocky British stranger. A dream trip to Paris. What could go wrong?
Reeling from the reality of turning 30 soon, Christine decides to take her bucket list trip. She has always dreamed of going back to Paris, but since being diagnosed with several rare autoimmune disorders, she never imagined she would get the chance to return.
Now she finds herself on her way to the city of love with an unexpected surprise. An extremely handsome British stranger seems to have mysteriously fallen onto her path.
Is it just a coincidence they are both traveling to the city of love at the same time? It all seems too good to be true."

This one is a sweet and clean romance that relies on the characters conversation and POV to dig in to their minds and getting to know them more. The story itself was charming and nothing like I've seen before.. Especially their exchanges and as each conversations getting deeper, it's getting gentler to at the same time. I'm so attached to them to the point it makes me nervous on what would happening once the secret being revealed because I knew it'd crushed their tender souls too much. I love the great details of Paris and art references here. It has been enjoyable and exciting read for me so far, the author really great job in building the tensions. I can't wait for the next book!

Brooke Gilbert is a new to me author but wow she writes amazing.

She thinks of amazing characters with wonderful development.

I was so wrapped up into this story.

There were so many twists and turns, funny moments.

I can not stress enough how amazing a read this was, a heart warming story.

Christine is on a trip of a lifetime after she got the news that she has a multiple rare autoimmune disorders.

(amazing representation of them as well)

She has a low self esteem.

All that makes sure she thinks that it is selfish to be in a relationship with anyone.

Colin is a bit a standard romance character.

"The Paris Soulmate" is a super cute and lovely story to read. True feel good and romance. Such a sweet story. Some might say that it is way too cheesy, but it is most definitely cute.

The book is well written in a somewhat fast speed tempo. With that said, the tempo is perfect. Just enough details and just enough action. And a lot of fun and love. The perfect combination.

Also, the descriptions of Paris are great. I love the setting there. The city of romance.

If you want an easy read and a super cute and heart warm story, "The Paris Soulmate" is the novel for you!

This was one of those mushy, gushy, overly sweet, Hallmark-esque romance novels. If you like insta love and believe in finding your soulmate on a 7 day trip to Paris, this is the book for you. It was a little long and almost too sweet, but I still enjoyed it.

3.5 ⭐️

This was very very insta love trope which isn’t my fav but I still wanted to read it due to the paris trope! I wasn’t disappointed by that aspect at least!
I was thrown off by Colin winking a lot in the beginning and being smug because damn that dude can’t hold back to our main character Christine!

I felt bad when Lola and Colin finally got caught and it just all went downhill, at least the problem was solved nicely but damn that trust ouch.

I love how we have some rep about mental health wise and our character dealing with something like this and overcoming it!

This book was the absolute cutest. I have to say, I normally really don’t like insta love because it’s a huge cliché, but this one was amazing and not weird or cliché at all.

The disability representation was amazing. And Colin is just such a sweetheart. The writing style was perfect and extremely enjoyable and the overall story was beautiful. It has everything you need or want in a romance book. My favorite character has to be Doris though. She is so funny, I couldn’t stop laughing.

Thanks NetGalley for providing me with this arc!!

Paris, a whirlwind romance, secrets, deep understanding of chronic diseases/disorders, and nods to classic films made this sweet romance such an enjoyable read! It’s a great debut novel and I’ll definitely be looking for the next book from this author. While the story takes place over a mere week, the insta-love romance felt natural and believable.

Christine suffers from numerous autoimmune disorders. Her dream is to return to Paris now that she has more control over her body. In the airport, she meets a handsome stranger with a delicious Mr. Darcyesque accent and persona. Her cautious nature though kicks in and even over the ten hour flight with him sitting next to her, it’s hard to believe this guy is real. Throw in a caring best friend who can’t be with her because she’s getting ready to have a baby, a meddling older lady, a bet, and the romance of Paris, and you have the makings of a good story. Colin has his own secrets he’s hiding and just when he’s gained Christine’s trust, their budding relationship could all come crashing down.

This book really captured my heart. As someone who also suffers from autoimmune diseases, I could really identify with Christine and the emotions she feels. Her struggle with trying to be independent and yet having to constantly be aware of everything that triggers her symptoms was very realistic. The descriptions of Paris made me feel like I was right there with the main characters, visiting all the famous sites. I appreciated Colin’s compassionate nature and the way he cares for Christine without seeming pitying or condescending. Anyone who suffers from a chronic illness will appreciate all that Christine goes through and feel her triumph when she’s able to fulfill several of her wishes.

It’s a fun, sweet, story with great representation of those who suffer from autoimmune diseases. I also enjoyed the way the author wove faith into the story in a natural way. This is definitely an author to keep an eye on. I received an advanced complimentary copy from the author through NetGalley. All opinions are my own and I was not required to provide a positive review.

There was instant love which is not my favorite thing to read, but I think the concept worked here with the conflict that came after. the charms of the hero were a bit lost on me, I think because he asked for a kiss about an hour into the meeting and then called her no fun when she said no. The pacing is a little slow and padded with lots of inner monologues that can get slightly repetitive, as can the dialogue. This book has several tropes, such as autoimmune representation, love at first sight, soulmate, forced proximity, Dual POV, closed-door romance, and LOTS of kissing.

This was such a cute read! 😍 My favorite part of this story was of the FMC learning how to love herself and others and let her true love in. Colin and Christine have the best character development and they both grew so much individual and together as a couple. I really enjoyed reading this book there were so many laugh out loud moments, my favorite character is probably Doris and all her advice! She was so funny and I loved her story. I laughed, I cried and so happy with the ending the author gave us 10/10 highly recommend

Let me start with this. This is one of the best love stories I've read since One Day in December by Josie Silver and The Girl He Used to Know by Tracy Garvis Graves. The Paris Soulmates is most definitely swoonwothy reading material.
I love the fact how it switches back and forth from Christine'sand Colin's perspectives. I love the fact how it's sensitive to disabilities and how she deals with them without feeling sorry for the main character.
Bucket list
Love. at first sight
Paris
Humor (lots of it)
Tears
Swoon worthy quotes
A gentleman with manners
And many more!
This novel has really captured and made me a sucker for love. I'm one of the horrible critics when reading a romcom or love stories. This ranks high up there with me..
This gets 4 1/2 stars from me.

2.5/5 stars

This was a very well written book. The plot was good and it was a very smooth read.

I loved the autoimmune awareness that The Paris Soulmate brings. Brooke Gilbert shows the pain, fatigue, and how debilitating it can be to live with one everyday. It was a wonderful change to the usual characters and it was wonderfully done.

The romance aspect was boring and unbelievable. You just met him and you feel safe with him… yeah ok. I will admit insta-love isn’t my thing, but I can get behind it wen done right but this wasn’t it for me.

Colin came off as the biggest tool to me. With all his winking and cockiness. I did not find him charming in the slightest which made it had to enjoy reading about them as a couple.

Thank you NetGalley for gifting me a copy of this book in return for an honest review.

As well as being a "nice rom-com" this was a very interesting read adding chronic illness into the mix. It gave an insight into life for a young person in today's world living with serious limitations. There was a lot of humour though in the situations Christine and Colin, two most unlikely names for romantic leads, got into. I could just picture François the concierge as an archetypical moustache twirling villain. All through the book i was cringing at the thought of Colin having to come clean to Christine about why he was on the trip and was hoping so hard she could see past the origins. An enjoyable and somewhat enlightening read. #netgalley #theparissoulmate

Thank you to the publisher for the eARC in exchange for my honest review. This review contains minor spoilers.

Unfortunately, this was not a book I enjoyed.

The first problem I had was with the timeline. I generally don't enjoy insta love stories, but there have been some well written ones I enjoyed. When I do enjoy an insta love, it's usually because it doesn't seem like the characters have only known each other for a day before a proposal. There was no proposal in the Paris Soulmate, but the characters say they love each other after 48 hours...

As the title suggests, this book takes place in Paris. While there was nothing wrong with the setting, all of the French characters seemed identical. They all wanted to give the happy couple free things and what not. The only character that differed was a hotel employee who wanted to steal the main female character away from the main male character. It didn't feel stereotypical, but it was not well written.

One of the bigger side characters in the story is an 80 year old woman who got on my nerves the entire time. She meddled in their business and was just a general nuisance. Typically, I enjoy these old ladies because they can be funny, but I didn't even quirk my lips.

The other big side character is the best friend of the main female character. She can't follow her friend to Paris because she's pregnant, but she worries about her...so she hires an actor to be her friend. Oh! And she asks the guy to fake a British accent. The main male character told the best friend even before the trip began that he had feelings for the main female character after only seeing a photo, but the best friend was convinced that there was nothing wrong with what was happening.

Of course, the main female character finally learns the truth and that causes a big fight. She forgives her best friend instantly but holds out on forgiving the love interest for a whole day. Pretty ridiculous. Even their reconciliation felt forced and rushed.

To sum it up, the plot and characters were not to my liking. I struggled to get through this book and did not find it enjoyable. For the above reasons I give it 3 stars.
