For FBI agent Clarence Harper, life has been going just fine...... until it isn't. All of a sudden Harper, a man of exemplary character, finds out that an ex-colleague has filed a case of sexual harassment against him.

Meanwhile an important acquaintance of his, Jack Alexander, who has been asked to take over as CEO of Universal, finds out that he now stands accused of corruption. And now the sharks of rival companies are ready with their takeover bids.

Surely this can't be a coincidence. However, Harper and Alexander go back a long way, as Harper once rescued Jack from kidnappers.

Ruthless is part of a trilogy, so this book continues where an earlier story left off - however, this latest does work well enough as a standalone. Alexander has to use all his resources to stay alive and track down who wishes to take him down, as the threats against him start to get physical.

This novel certainly keeps up the tension and suspense, as Jack Alexander brings all his considerable resources alongside his old slly Harper to get to the bottom of who wants him destroyed. There is am element of good guys-versus bad guys in all this, and their adversary is certainly as ruthless as the title suggests

This one should delight anyone who enjoys a good thriller.

This book, Ruthless by author John Wendell Adams, had a great and intricate storyline. It kept my interest and I was eager to read to its conclusion to see how the book would end; however, I felt the author should have limited the in-depth background on a character to just the major characters in the story, or if their background noticeably influenced their behavior. Unfortunately, I felt the story bogged down when he gave an in-depth background on the minor characters. While I love when authors give the reader good background information for a character, having characters that were only in the storyline for approximately two paragraphs and getting background on their childhood and what brought them to that particular place in their lives was, I felt, unnecessary. It made for a laborious read in those parts—I almost wanted to skip through, but didn’t know how important the character might end up being in the story so read every word.
Would I recommend this book to a friend—yes, I would. As I stated at the beginning of this review, it has a great storyline and you do get caught up in following the twists and turns that develop as the story moves along. (I was given a copy of this book from NetGalley for my review of this book—even so, I would gladly pay to read this book.)

The novel is the third in the series of thrillers, and I have not read the two previous entries. So while it took me a while to get into the characters and “ world” , once I did I found that Mr. Adams has a fluid and direct writing style that make for easy reading.
As promised, there is action, mystery , but nothing very deep. I had this book hanging , partially read , on my to read list for a while and would return to it now and again. But I did finish it after a bit of prodding by the author. I am glad that I finished “ Ruthless” and I do recommend it as an easy read, and a good thriller.

I need to go back and read the other books in this well written series which offers both an interesting story and some very engaging characters.

this was such a great third entry in this series, I had enjoyed the previous two a lot and I was excited to continue this series. John Wendell Adams has a great writing style for the genre and a beautiful way of creating characters. It does what I was hoping for in a mystery genre, and I was invested in what was going on. I look forward to read more from John Wendell Adams.
