Natalie Maynard has had a time of it. And that is putting it mildly.

A widow, Natalie thinks she has found love again. They have bought a house and moved in together and now she is returning from a lush vacation with said love. Only he had to come back a couple of days early. Suspicious, no?

Imagine her shock when she shows up at home to find it isn’t really home at all. And the new love is an old con! With nothing left, she heads to a place she does still have. A cabin. In Chestnut Ridge.

As Detective Fellowes works to track down the scoundrel and retrieve something for Natalie, they also begin to have feelings for each other.

A man who is married to the job is suddenly catching his thoughts wandering to Natalie. But with all she has been through will she be interested in him?

As he works to find the culprit, Natalie is meeting her neighbors and the people in the town and finds she likes them and the town a lot. But are they keeping secrets too?

This is the author doing what she does best. Writing about love, loss, trust, and hope.

I received an Advanced Reader copy from Netgalley for my honest review. The writing is spectacular. I felt like I could picture the town, the cabin, and the Blue Ridge mountains. The premise of family and what makes a family can be explored through friendships. The story of Natalie being conned almost becomes the back story, while the town folks of Chestnut Ridge grow in importance. Paul, Orene, Tucker, and Sheila show us the meaning of friendship and family. I am happy that this is the first book of the series. I definitely will read the others! What a great story!

My Thoughts

Natalie Maynard finds herself blindsided by a man who turns out to be a very accomplished liar who took not only her physical belongings but her self confidence in herself as well.

Her case seems to be at a standstill for the longest no matter how much effort and time Detective Randy Fellowes puts into solving it.

As time passes they both feel drawn to each other but Natalie is understandably hesitant to act while Randy remains professional with her but finds her on his mind more and more often.

Finally utilizing some of her few remaining assets, her husbands beloved Mustang as well as his rustic cabin, Natalie moves to Chestnut Ridge and discovers not only people she can connect with and depend on but that she still has the ability to make her own way in a new life.

A life that has more than one unexpected turn but one I particularly found exactly right for Natalie.

Catching a few needed breaks Randy slowly unravels the trail left by the swindler.

Along the way both he and Natalie discover more and more about each other to the point a solid relationship forms between them.

Powerful and moving.

When a young widow finds she has been scammed by a criminal and has lost everything she is devastated and seeks to hide in the mountains of Virginia in a cabin that once belonged to her husband. This is a charming read about small town USA and the delightful people who circle each other in times of need. It keeps you guessing all through the book. I loved cheering her on and watching her try to find her new spot in life. This could be a beach read or one you will love whenever you find it. I highly recommend this one
I wish to thank NetGalley and St Martin’s Press, St Martin’s Griffin for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book. I have voluntarily read and reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

It feels wrong to give the book 2 or 2.5 stars, bc the issue isn’t really with the book. It’s a comparability thing. This book wasn’t really my style. I read romance, and I like a variety of tropes within the genre, but this one just didn’t do it for me.

The writing is good, but I felt like the distance of the third person narrator slowed the pacing some for me. I also felt like it was heavy on exposition, and no matter what genre I’m reading, I tend to like it either more evenly sprinkled throughout or let readers discover things through character actions, dialogue, and the like.

I also found myself getting impatient with the main character, and I’m not sure that’s entirely fair. I found her reactions to Marx’s disappearance to be both a bit over-the-too and staid. Weird I know. Maybe the emotions displayed just didn’t fit right for the situation, or who I felt the main character was. It someone didn’t ring as true to me as it could have. Though as with so much in reviews, this may also likely be a personal preference for specific character building.

Having said all that, this book is definitely right for a lot of people. I’m just probably not part of that group.

I read an ARC of this book through NetGalley.

I'm a sucker for romance novels! A sweet story of forgiveness and allowing ourselves to move on. It's nice to read about how we can overcome setbacks and heartbreaks and find love again.

I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

This clean romance is full of themes of love, understanding and forgiveness. The characters are relatable and endearing. The setting is awesome and the author describes it in a way as if your were there.

Natalie is heartbroken after being conned and Detective Randy works with her to solve the case. Just as they start getting close, Natalie moves to a lovely small community to start over. Will the detective lose his chance at a forever kind of love? Read this book to find out!

This is the 1st Nancy Naigle book I’ve read but it won’t be the last. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. It was a story about family, faith and the others we meet along the way who become family.

I tried to post this on Amazon but it wouldn’t let me.

Wow! How much more can Natalie take? I love how human she is and then when she makes up her mind, there’s no stopping her. Do you believe things happen for a reason in the time they are suppose to? I do. I believe Natalie’s landing in Chestnut Ridge was one of those things and I loved that. I also love the feeling of family in this book. This is a great story with wonderful characters. I would love to make another trip to Chestnut Ridge. I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

A delightful read! Good character development, a fun plot and a scenic location that all make you want to read books about the people and town Nancy Naigle created in Chestnut Ridge. I didn’t want to put down this book! Thank you, St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for this advanced reader’s copy!

I ended up not finishing And Then There Was You at around 50%. I thought the storyline was incredibly unique and I felt for Natalie as a character. I also loved the MMC! I just think the writing style and dialog wasn't for me... I found it to be a little difficult to get into but that doesn't mean I don't think others wouldn't enjoy it!

And Then There Was You by Nancy Naigle is the story of Natalie, who returns from vacation to find her home has been cleared out by the con man she thought was in love with her. With nothing left to her except her late husband's fishing shack, she moves there to create a new life. However, she develops an attraction to the officer who is investigating her case and wonders if it could possibly be mutual? A charming novel. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

I loved the book and how the author took the main character back to the roots of her deceased husband. I just wish there would have been more about the devloping relationship between the detective and the main character. There could have been more for that but over all, great book!

When Natalie (a widow) is conned out of most of her savings Detective Randy is determined to find the con man. The story is about finding the con man and new beginnings. It's a fun way read.

This is a cute little contemporary read. Ive never read anything from Naigle prior to this and was not disappointed. Her writing style was easy to follow. Character development was good. It was a book that had me hooked from the first chapter.

This book was a little slow for me and I found it hard to connect with the main characters. While Natalie is reliving the loss of her husband and the hurt from her swindler, I feel as though the emotions I should have felt from her just weren't conveyed realistically. The story overall is beautiful, and I fell in love with the town, but think it lacked the character development and relationship building that I want to see in a book like this.

Great story with twists, turns and family thrown in the mix. Family isn't always blood but it can seem like they are.
