Many times, I find it hard to get into a second chance trope but Double or Nothing sucked me in from the start with the easy banter and unique storyline. It's rare that you find a story where you find yourself routing for every character throughout, but Steel has managed to craft just that with this book.

While I generally read much steamier romance, Double or Nothing was a fantastic palette cleanser and the audio was absolutely wonderful.

Not only was this my first book by Cindy Steel, but this was also my first audiobook by Stacey Glemboski and David Bendena. Without a doubt, I can say that I enjoyed all three and will gladly look for more of all of their work in the future.

If you're looking for a fun and flirty story with "the one that got away" vibes, you'll absolutely adore Double or Nothing.

Tessa just move back to her home town and ended up making a bet that she would NOT fall in love with her grade school and high school crush over the summer. This was a super cute story, written in a closed-door fashion, with plenty of sweet little interactions between Tessa and Logan. just slightly steamy, but very fun! The audiobook version was done wonderfully.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When Tessa returns home to join her brother’s physical therapy business it is with some hesitation. The last time she lived there she was left at the alter and humiliated. Still, having worked through her hurt, she returns more confident and is happy to be single. That is until her childhood crush comes back to town and a good friend sets the two of them on a journey to ‘not’ fall in love.

I loved this audiobook! It is funny, engaging, and filled with characters you can’t help but love. I found the narration so wonderful I didn’t want the book to end. There is nothing I enjoy more than a book that makes me laugh out loud and there were many moments like this throughout the story. I also liked the development of the relationships and getting to know the characters. I absolutely recommend this book.

I am so thankful to @NetGalley and @DreamscapeMedia for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook for an honest review.

Double or Nothing (Pride and Pranks #4) by Cindy Steel
Narrated by Stacey Glemboski and David Bendena

Twenty four year old Tessa grew up spending most of her free time at the home of her best friend Kelsey. The entire world seemed aware that Tessa had a crush on Kelsey's older brother Logan since she was eight years old. Tessa even wrote a love note to him, promising to marry him if only he'd ask. Ugh, she still gets teased about her childhood crush. But so much time has passed. Tessa moved on, found love, lost love, and is just trying to heal and never get attached again. She's back home now, living with her parents again, ready to work as a physical therapist at the clinic her brother is having built.

Twenty nine year old Logan was the big brother, still is the big brother. He may have enjoyed being crushed on more than he let on. Growing up he'd always been popular and was used to others wanting to be around him. He's back in town again, leading a crew that is building the new physical therapy building. He has a reputation for loving them and leaving them with a week per woman being the average.

Their friend Jake has a proposition. He knows what both Tessa and Logan need and he's a master planner and schemer. There is a huge payoff if Tessa and Logan can have a date once a week, holding hands as often as possible is mandatory, and NOT fall in love. The game is on and it's sweet and cute. Tessa and Logan each have their own narrators for the audiobook and that adds some specialness to the story. I finished this one with a big smile on my face but worried about our sweet Jake.

I'd already listened to one other book in the Pride and Pranks series, That Fine Line, and it is listed as #2. Double or Nothing is listed as #4. As someone who almost always reads/listens to a series in order, from the two books I've already tried, you lose nothing by reading these books out of their numbered order. Characters overlap but at no time did I feel like I was missing anything. The characters are one big group of family and friends and silly as some of the characters can be, this world is where I want to come to leave feeling good about life. Despite the heartache and super angst in the stories, so far love and friendship conquers all.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ARC.

This story is incredible and the audio is fantastic!
While it is a closed door romCOM, the tension is still very much there. There were so many laugh out loud moments that perfectly complimented the “awe” moments.
The narration was also done really well; something I appreciate.

Double or Nothing by Cindy Steel

Tessa has had a crush on Logan since she was a kid. Tessa is best friends with Logan's sister. Tessa and Logan had a match making bet thrown at them a truck or falling in love. Tessa and Logan where sent on all kinds of dates that includes a kiss before the end of summer. Tessa already has had bad luck with men in the past so she thinks this will be an easy bet to beat Logan and not fall in-love.

This was a cute and funny rom com. It gave me all the feels I am looking for in a romance. I am even swooning over the cuteness of Tessa and Logan. It is not always sunshine and roses. Logan is not a typical guy to settle down. Logan has been a player in the past. Can Tessa rope him in to falling in love with her.

Narrated by Stacey Glemboski and David Bendena did a great job bringing Tessa and Logan to life as well as other characters. This is a solid four star read for me. I recommend this romance rom com to anyone who wants to play in the mud, laugh a little then this book is for you.

I absolutely ADORED this story. I want to first start off by saying I was so EXCITED to listen to a story that wasn’t smut filled. The story line flowed beautifully, and the dynamics of the MC was good.. I gasped at the part about the tampons LOL! I will be mentioning this book in my book club.

Shout out to publishing and Netgalley for the ARC!

5 STARS!

"It's easy, just marry a good woman and get out of her way."

Best book quote of the year.

Huge thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape for the opportunity to listen to and review this book.

Tessa is home from college and getting ready to start working for her brother at his new company. Not back in town 5 minutes and her childhood crush, also her BFF's brother, shows up. A mutual friend, and self proclaimed matchmaker, makes a bet with them. Go the summer having one date a week with each other and if at the end they aren't in-love then they get his brand new bribe truck he doesn't want from his dad.

The ups and downs and coming together of Tessa and Logan was so sweet and frustrating and fun. There were a few moments I wanted to reach into the book and smack Logan for being an idiot but he pulled it together at the end and had me in tears with his confession. This was easily a 5-star read and I highly recommend it.

This was a fun and easy breezy listen thanks to Dreamscape Media!

I'm quickly becoming a huge Cindy Steele fan! She has the rare ability to make clean rom coms that are actually romantic and funny with a little depth and without the cheese of most clean romances.

I loved the main characters and actually laughed out loud (extremely rare while reading) at a couple of their interactions. Overall, I think this book will put a smile on your face!

Cindy Steel books are the best hangover cure, I've read and/or listened to all but her most recent while in bed hydrating. Its the best. This one is best friend's older brother at its finest. We have inside jokes from childhood, embarrassing nicknames, banter for days, a pesky sidekick. A+ for quick and fun

Tessa and Logan were so cute! The bet that they wouldn’t (or would depending how you look at it) fall in love was such a great twist on things. I’m sure everyone had that childhood crush that they swore at the time that they were going to marry, so I’m sure everyone can relate to the embarrassment if that person were to find out! Overall, I thought this was such a cute story, and I definitely want to get a group of friends together to play fugitive now!
