Someone Just Like You is a laugh out loud funny romance between two opposites - Molly and Jude. Growing up as neighbors and in families that were close, Molly and Jude were once best friends turned mortal enemies. Twenty seven years of a prank war, culminating in some major regretted life changes, have lead to a rivalry that their entire family jokes about.

But when their older siblings decide to plan a joint anniversary party for their parents - Molly and Jude become an unlikely pair of friends, then more - as they realize they’ve been searching for each other all along.

I really enjoyed this one - I loved the family dynamic between the siblings and how the parents/grandparents showed up as well. These families read as real - their problems are ones many face in their own lives and the love just as true. The dynamic of the childhood enemies to lovers romance that Molly and Jude have was also fun to read - I didn’t mind the longer lead up to them finally getting together because their obliviousness was funny and their doppelgängers hilarious.

The deeper level of the story plays out in the rivalry itself - and where for each of them their motives stem from. Molly’s desire to be perfect to control her world and Jude’s resentment for being compared make complete sense - and when they both are able to move out of their respected comfort zones, the readers get to see an incredible growth arc in both of them.

Overall I absolutely enjoyed this book and will continue reading by this author in the future!

I’m not sure how I feel about this one still. I liked it while I was reading it but I found it very forgettable. I did really like the characters and the story line.

This book had good banter and a creative storyline. At some points the pranks got annoying and extreme.

Tropes:
•Childhood enemies to reluctant friends to lovers
•opposites attract
•Family Dynamics
•Pranks

Can I just say that I didn’t expect to fall so head over heels for this book??

Don’t get me wrong, I just obviously hoped to like it - I mean I chose it to read - but I didn’t expect to giggle at the back and forth, be on the verge of tears, and have my heart strings pulled so hard!

This is the first book I’ve read by Meredith Schorr and it will definitely not be my last! She did a wonderful job are endearing the characters to the reader and the way she was able to make me verge on crying to smiling like a lunatic was something I don’t find often!

Jude and Molly. Childhood enemies. Prank masters.

Jude is laid back. Charming. Handsome. A go with the flow kind of guy.
Molly has a plan for everything. Smart. Driven. Dependable.

These two were always meant to be. It was inevitable and I love it!

I also want to point out how funny it is to see these two late 20s adults revert back to being kids with each other. It reminds me of my husband and I. I think it’s important to be able to be ridiculous and silly, and yes sometimes childish, with your partner and Molly and Jude are perfect examples of this!

“…but the truth is I can’t even recognize the version of me who wasn’t anything but desperately in love with Molly Blum.”

That’s all, that’s the review. This quote sums all of it up 🥹

Cue the pranks and banter between them. I absolutely loved the back-and-forth pranks. Jude’s attitude and comments throughout the book made me laugh out loud many times. You could see that they both had some hidden feelings for one another.

This is a perfect enemies-to-lovers story with adorable dogs! You can’t go wrong with that!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for granting me access to this book in exchange for my honest review. This book was a super cute romantic comedy, and I definitely enjoyed reading it. It reminded me of the classic rom com movies of the 90s and 2000s. I would consider reading this one again for sure!

sometimes toxic book couples can feel entertaining, and other times they feel like pulling teeth…. sadly, this was an example of the latter.

I also feel like this book is an example of why true enemies to lovers storylines only work in fantasy romance. that additional element of fictionality sets fantasy enemies to lovers on a god-tier rather than the contemporary romance’s toxic-tier. these characters were incredibly immature, and I was left wondering how they would ever actually last.

One of my least favorite tropes is the childish, prankster one. The two main characters, Molly and Jude, were friends when younger until their pranks on each other got out of hand. Meeting up later with their siblings, they pick up right where they left off trying to one-up each prank. Once I was through most of the ridiculousness, I was able to enjoy the characters and the story. I need to pay more attention when choosing a book to make sure this trop is not part of the story.

Thank you to Forever (Grand Central Publishing) and NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!

Someone Just Like You follows Molly Blum and Jude Stark, two lifelong rivals whose parents are neighbors and best friends. Molly and Jude’s history is filled with pranks, bitterness and general dislike towards one another. The two are forced together in order to surprise their parents with an anniversary celebration.

While I can recognize that this story has some high points - Jewish representation, a surprising amount of steam (although cringy) and a sweet message about forgiveness - it unfortunately just didn’t work for me. It was a quick, easy read, but I found the relationship to be borderline toxic. The MCs spent 20+ years pestering one another and interfering in each other’s lives and I just couldn’t believe that these two would actually last together. They acted like children and the pranks were painfully unamusing and harmful. Their romance felt like it really came out of nowhere, and there was not enough character development involved for either of them for me to really root for them together or individually. There was also an explanation given for divorce that I just straight up didn’t agree with.

The execution on this was disappointing for me and the plot just left me dissatisfied.

Just finished my first book by Meredith Schorr and yup, I'm definitely checking out her other stuff. It's about Molly and Jude, these two who've been butting heads since forever, now stuck planning their parents' anniversary. The start's a bit slow with all these high school prank vibes, but hang in there, it gets better.

Loved the crazy family stuff and how Molly and Jude end up with lookalike dates without even realizing – pretty funny. There's some drama with friends and family, cool romance, and real talk about jobs and life choices. Molly and Jude are like night and day, and it's cool seeing them figure things out. Overall, a fun, relatable romcom with a bit of steam. Great for a chill read with some feels and laughs.

I really enjoyed Meredith’s first book and I’m sure this one is great too!

However due to time, I will not be giving a detailed review of this book.

I thank the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinions.

Meredith Schorr's "Someone Just Like You" is a charming rom-com that explores the dynamics of childhood rivals forced to collaborate on their parents' anniversary party.

The use of Beatles puns and the banter between Molly and Jude adds a lighthearted touch. Molly's role as a recruiter added an interesting layer to the plot and I found her conversations with her newfound mentor to be particularly captivating.

Readers looking for a lighthearted HEA will enjoy this sweet story.

I am a HUGE fan of Meredith Schorr, and this title did not disappoint! She has a way of hooking you right in and making you fall in love with the characters. They are always so relatable and you can't help but root for them every step of the way. I highly recommend her books!

Ick. I hated the dialogue and both MCs so much. I wanted to love it, the concept but it fell so short for me. The main character was unlikeable to the point of "why do you even get a happy ending here". Enemies to lovers is a great trope but when you're doing everything for years to make one person's life as miserable as possible through "pranks". It felt more like bullying at one point and didn't seem even healthy for these individuals to still speak to each other.

I very much enjoyed this book. I did not know anything about it when going in so it was a pleasant surprise

A career ending injury is my absolutely worst nightmare. Molly and Jude are forced as enemies to plan a wedding anniversary party for their parents. Classically so, enemies to lovers this story unfolds. It was cute, it was joyful; I really enjoyed this book.

Enemies to lovers is just ready for some humor and one of my favorites. While this one is predictable, and I realize all rom coms are, I enjoyed it. This is one of my favorite tropes and it didn’t disappoint in this one. At times the pranks seemed a little mean and a little much, but I loved the NYC references and the Jewish heritage.
