Thank you NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review!

This book follows two points of view, Gwen and Arthur, after being forced to spend the summer together. They find that they would make better allies than being at each other's throats.

It has been so long since I have read this, so there are details that I am forgetting about this book. Overall, I really truly liked this book and think that it is such an important story. It has queer representation that I think that a lot of people, especially young queer kids, will find themselves relating to. It had humor, it had drama, it was messy, what more could a person want?

Eeep, I adored this! Love the spin on the Arthurian legend and nice to see queer relationships and characters well-represented in those older legends.

I really enjoyed the book for the most part. It was entertaining and up my alley. The characters are nicely written and very lovable. The banter was fun and witty. The last bit of the book was a bit surprising. We definitely need more queer books set in medieval times. Thank you NetGalley for the chance to review this.

A fun Arthurian retelling with a queer twist; we love Croucher's style as well as the inversion of the classics with more modern sensibilities and tropes.

This title was so much fun and super engaging. I love this author's style, and I thought this book was just so much fun. Can't wait to recommend this one to youth at the library.

DNF Chapter 2

Thank you to Wednesday Books for providing me an arc.

I have retried this one multiple times since I got the arc and I just can't get into it. This one may work for a lot but I just am no longer someone who loves YA and I am very picky which this just didn't work for me.

I thought I left a review for this but it turns out I didn’t! This was so much fun- I loved it. My first book from this author and I was pleasantly surprised, I’ve even read the second book in this fun series.

Gwen & Art Are Not in Love is set years after King Arthur and his descendant, Arthur, is engaged to Gwen. The issue is they can't stand each other. When Gwen catches Arthur kissing a boy and Arthur finds out that Gwen likes girls, they decide to put their differences aside for their best interests. It's an entertaining twist on the Arthur legend.

To be honest, you had me at “lady knights.”

Gwen and Art are due to be married, but they have nothing in common. Aside from the fact that they would much rather be kissing other people. This was such a fun read. I don’t read much YA these days, but I’m so glad I gave this a try. If you love queer coming of age stories with a historical setting don’t let the YAness of it all stop you. Definitely check out Gwen & Art Are Not in Love if you’re looking for a cute, queer time!

Thank you to NetGalley and Wednesday Books for a review copy.

I really enjoyed this rompy good time of a book. I love Arthurian legends, and have read the more traditional stories, as well as watched all of the BBC Merlin show. This book struck a tone somewhere in between legend and hilarity, and worked quite well with that balance. The characters had compelling story arcs and each had growth and lessons learned. Like many teens, there are heightened emotions, crushes, feelings, all that teenage angst. But the weight of royal responsibility complicates things. This was such a fun book to read, an absolute blast and full of emotional beats akin to the best teen dramas on TV, but mixed with the drama of a period piece. Highly recommend!

*chef's kiss* SUCH A GOOD READ! These sort of queer stories are exactly what the world needs now. There is no way every single person back in the day of King Arthur was straight - absolutely no way, just like this day and age. The world has always been full of the gays and we need that representation.

Absolutely delightful! Funny and witty, with likeable interesting characters. This was my first lex croucher book and I know I’ll be reading many more. I laughed and cried and had a fantastic time reading this

I know going in that Lex Croucher’s romances are well thought out and intelligent. This one was YA but didn’t feel like it to me. The Arthurian legend angle was interesting and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

OKKKKKK 👀

A YA book I LOVED? More likely than you'd think! This book was funny, cute, and gay <3 Of course I still wish it was spicy, but would definitely recommend for a lighthearted read. I practically devoured this book in 2 sittings.

I did not mean to request this arc. I am not the target audience for this book. The concept appealed to me but I do not typically read lgbt romances.

In "Gwen and Art Are Not in Love," I felt that Lex Croucher was trying to achieve two goals at once by writing a book that successfully depicted two different romantic pairings. It's a challenging task – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. For me, after reading it, it was definitely the latter.

Gwen and Arthur were quite unlikable at the beginning – not just to each other, but to me as well. However, it was satisfying to see how their varied experiences eventually brought them closer. Once they revealed their secrets to each other, they developed a sense of camaraderie and kinship that made them appreciate one another. Arthur was extremely annoying at first – I really couldn't stand him or anything he said – believe me, I tried. 😥 But as you get to know him better and see his true self, he became a slightly better person in my eyes.

"Nobody else will ever care as much as you do about the things you want, Gwendoline. So it's up to you – you can either set them aside forever if you can live with that, or you can put on your big-girl girdle and demand more for yourself."

Gwen and Bridget made a very cute couple. Gwen being so infatuated with her knight in shining armor was adorably written, and even though Bridget was the more sensible one, I liked that Gwen could bring out the fun and playfulness in her – even with her armor on, both literally and figuratively. 🥰 Arthur and Sidney were a fun pair – their banter wasn't so much funny and witty as it was snarky and clever, which really showed how close they were as best friends who genuinely cared for each other.
