After reading Sutton’s Shadow, I knew I wanted to read more of Amanda Zook. And with Sophie’s Song, I got the opportunity to do so.

Same as with Sutton’s Shadow, Amanda creates a wonderful and heartbreaking story with Sophie and Evan having a traumatized past.

Evan is full of guild for losing his sister and Sophie is carrying a secret. And Amanda weaves a great tale with suspense, heartbreak and trauma. Five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

Awesome book! When a young woman, Sophie, escapes from an abusive man, she meets a group of people who might be her salvation. Lots of plots and twists and turns. Be aware there is not a book for the faint hearted.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

Thanks to Netgalley for a copy of this book for an honest review.

This book had me sitting on the edge of my seat. Will have to go back and read the others in the series while I wait for Jolene's book.

This was a truly beautiful story that hit me in unexpected ways. The two main characters have dealt with a lot of tragedy in their lives and this book is all about these two people finding their way back from those tragedies and learning how to love. It's also a story that contains a lot of redemption. And it definitely contains some events that may be triggering to some readers. This includes domestic abuse and death of a family member.

While this is a beautiful story and there is plenty of romance, there were some darker moments. Which is a bit different than the books I typically read. It was very emotional and absolutely put me through the wringer. But on the opposite side of that, it's also a very uplifting and inspirational in many ways. There was certainly a lot going on and a lot to take in and absorb.

The struggles and tragedies that Sophie and Evan have been through are vastly different. But their pain and how they are struggling with things is one of the common threads that bring them together. Their romance was written exceptionally well, as were the more difficult aspects of the book. I will be looking forward to the next book by Amanda Zook and I recommend this book to romance lovers looking for something with a lot of substance and redemption. I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions.

Suspense, drama, spice. The whole package in one book. Sophie escapes from an abusive relationship and lands herself in a new town looking for a fresh start. She's looking for new beginnings and finding a name for herself. She lands herself in a small town, gets a job at the local bar and grill, and is finally making friends. A tall, handsome man, Evan, can see the beauty that is Sophie and he helps her find the beauty within herself. Both Evan and Sophie have a dark past that they help each other work through, but when Sophie's tortured past meets the present, will their love conquer all?

Trigger warnings: domestic violence

It took a little bit for me to get into this book, but once I got going, it was so hard to put it down. It captivated me. The spice was fantastic, the plot was amazing and easy to follow. It was a fantastic read!

The emotional journey of the characters and storyline make this one of the most heartachingly beautiful romances that I have read. Sophie Alvarez has finally escaped from her guards when her car has a flat tire. She receives help from former detective Evan Cole who offers his help. Sensing that she is in need of a job, he refers her to their local diner and when he finds her living in her car offers her a safe place to stay. Sophie has only sung in clubs and has no idea how to be a waitress but is so grateful for a chance at a new life. Evan is still dealing with a tragic loss in his own family and senses that she is on the run from someone or something. He has no idea the abuse she has suffered since the death of her parents. As he slowly introduces her to the team at Nighthawk, she finds friends and a new family that she never dreamed was possible. Is there a chance that she can finally take down the men who were responsible for her abuse? Can Evan convince her that they are made for each other and that he has fallen in love with his little songbird? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

Another great read in the Nighthawk Search & Rescue series. This is the 6th installment in the series and once again Amanda Zook has written a story that grabs the reader from the beginning and keeps them glued to the pages until the end. Here we have the story of Evan and Sophie, both battling their own demons. Evan is a former Chicago police officer who left the force after a personal loss. Sophie is on the run and hiding from her former life. Join them as they deal with their pasts and get their happily ever after you will not regret it.

Thank you NetGalley, Amanda Zook and Author Collective 20 for the ARC of this book which I voluntarily read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Publication date: 3/2/2023

Sophie's Song is another fantastic addition to the Nighthawk series. A word of warning, though: The story will put you through an emotional wringer. My heart started aching on page one and throughout the book I had to battle tears. Yet there are plenty of things to smile and feel good about, too. There are plenty of heartwarming scenes, seriously inspirational ones and the HEA is absolutely wonderful. This book will join the others on my keeper shelf and will certainly be re-read!

This is a well written book. The story is pretty dark, if you don't like books with torture or abuse you might not want to read, but if you are okay with that, I recommend it. Both Sophie and Evan have traumatic pasts that influence their current lives. The author describes the characters and settings beautifully, I could picture everything. I couldn't put the book down.

Thank you NetGalley for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

Another brilliant read in this series Amada manages to not only make her books entertaining with her mix of suspense and drama but she also makes them books that have you thinking quite deeply about matters. In this instance we get the story of Evan Cole he cannot get over the guilt that his mistakes as a Chicago police detective led to the death of his sister but now he is trying to start a new life working with Nighthawk Security. He doesn't expect that a kind act stopping to help a woman with a flat tyre will change his life but that fateful meeting with Sophie changes his life There is an instant connection between them but both are wounded and have high walls but when danger threatens Sophie yet again then Evan and his team will step up but will it be enough You will have to read to see and if you haven't read the rest of the series make sure you grab it You won't be disappointed

An enjoyable addition to the series, I really enjoyed this book.

The author does write engaging characters that you just can’t help but like and then proceeds to take them on a heartfelt journey with suspense that puts your heart in your mouth!

I loved how gentle Evan was with Sophie and how his family (Nighthawk and blood) brought her into the fold so beautifully. His depth of feeling about his family showed the capacity he had for real love and I liked that he recognised this quite early and then gently took Sophie on the journey with him.
I loved how Sophie, despite her past experiences, was able to help both Evan and Katie deal with their feelings about the past and begin to finally move on.

4.5 stars

Sophie's Song is sixth in a series but my third, and it's a nice addition to the Nighthawk Search and Rescue collection. Sophie and Evan just might be my favorite pair so far; they are just so lovely together. It's refreshing that they didn't waste time with the old "I'm not good enough for him/her" stuff that novels featuring people with tragic pasts so often succumb to. There are content warnings though, and I'll put them at the very end, as is my tradition, in an effort to limit spoilers.

I will confess first that while I somewhat remember the books in the series that I read previously (Annika's and Sutton's), the details have long since been buried under the hundreds of books I've read since. So although I knew I was supposed to know things, I contented myself with just being glad the previous Nighthawk heroes and heroines were alive and well.

Anyway, here, Sophie is on the run after escaping years of hell and ends up in the same small town where Nighthawk SAR is headquartered. She quickly catches Evan's eye (and he hers) and they become friends and eventually more. There are quite a few flashbacks that unveil Sophie's full horror, and the first maybe 60 percent of the book allows for a slower pace as Sophie flexes her wings and she and Evan learn about each other. It can feel a little draggy, but I also appreciate that the author neither rushed Sophie's opening up nor threw frustrating roadblocks in the path. When her past finally catches up to her (as these things are wont to do), the resolution happens a little fast but not ridiculously so.

I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!

Content warnings: Physical and mental abuse, murder suicide, drug addiction, PTSD

This book reminded me of the movie Safe Haven. I really was on the edge of my seat at the end, not knowing if Sophie would be ok. I loved Evan and Sophie together in this book, both of them knowing so much trauma and heartbreak in their life. This book was a little too dark for me, but it was a good story that developed well. I was happy with how it ended, and getting to see more of the other characters stories.
Thank you for the ARC!!!

This is the 6th book of Nighthawk Search and Rescue series, it can be read as stand alone. My first in this series and this book is good, it star with Trigger Warning: This book contains scenes of domestic violence. Wow, my eye cant stop teary. This book involve to much emotion and trauma, Sophie so strong even in pain she not giving up, she keep her eye open to what happen around her. Evan had his own pain too, cant help his sister and bestfriend leaving deep regret and trauma. Ecan and Sophie save each other, accept each other, im really glad they are together. The quote from song to express each other love was so sweet.

“When this is over, I’m gonna love you like nobody’s loved you.”
“High as a mountain, deep as a river?”
“Absolutely.”

Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.
