This was a cute read. I really liked Sebastian and his story. Brynn felt a little more surface level of a character and it was hard to see all her growth. Also the development of their relationship in the middle felt a little rushed from them not being able to stand to be in the same car together to all of a sudden planning a life together over the course of like two days. But it was a fun read and I enjoyed it.

While I didn't absolutely love this book, I also didn't hate it. It was a pretty fast read and I think the story was cute and liked Brynn and Sebastian together, I also sort of understood why Brynn could hate her hometown. I just think Brynn saying what she did about Adelaide Springs was horrible and didn't really match up with her feelings back at home. It felt a bit over the top to say the things she hated and then go back home and say she actually loves all that stuff. She just felt all over the place and immature for someone in their late 30s. It felt very uneventful but I did love the Colorado/small town setting. I liked the ending but it felt a tad too rushed for my liking.
Thank you Netgalley and Thomas Nelson--FICTION for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

i think i’m getting tired of the grumpy sunshine trope because most of the time the guy is just an a*hole but since he’s ✨grumpy✨ it’s fine? hell no. here brynn, our FMC supposed to be the sunshine, wasn’t so sunshiny and annoyed me, whereas sebastian, the MMC, was simply bland and uninteresting. their romance was too insta-love for my liking, i love a good slow burn since it gives the author room to develop the characters as people as well as their relationship. here, neither stood out to me and they both felt pretty 2d rather than actual people. sebastian kinda grew on me in the second half of the story but not enough for me to actually enjoy this book and give it more than a 2⭐️

Thank you to net galley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Wow what a read! Brynn and Sebastian hate each other is a brilliant take on enemies to lovers. You're guaranteed the swoony, cute rom-com moments with some amazing banter between the MC's! I highly recommend this book!

Whoa. I don't know where to start on this one. Having loved The Secret Life of Sarah Hollenbeck, I was excited to dive into an enemies to lovers and grumpy sunshine romcom. With two of my favorite tropes, I had high hopes for this story but was unfortunately disappointed 😞.
The enemies part of this story was just plain mean, the fighting was above and beyond without any of the sexual tension and witty banter one would expect. The FMC was very entitled (in the words of the bromance bookclub backstory is very important), and I felt like we didn't really get the full extent of why Bynn was the way she was, there was tidbits along the way but nothing concrete to pull the story together. The MMC, who was supposed to be the grumpy part of this grumpy/sunshine story, I don't think was grumpy at all, just healing from a lot of past hurt and trauma, and the whole book I just wanted to give him a hug!!
I also have to ask....where was the lovers part of this story?!? It had no romance!!! There was more chemistry between a couple of the side characters (and side note this had a gilmore girls level conglomerate of side characters, which i usually adore but there were just tooooo many!) than between the FMC/MMC, they spent 80% of the book fighting (and not in the heated way I would have expected) and then all of a sudden there was a kiss, no build up and then they're together? What? While there wasn't a third act break up, the resolution was more focused on her career blunder, which made sense for the FMC, but we didn't get to see how they as a couple got from the kiss to the epilogue, their whole relationship was pretry hidden from the reader which is really a bummer!

Unfortunately- this book was not for me and I DNF. I did like the writing style, which is why I am giving it 2 stars. just couldn’t get into the story and did not enjoy the MCs at all. I usually love the grumpy/sunshine trope, but this one was not it. Brynn came off as a complete brat and I didn’t but the sunshine act at all. They both also seemed way younger than their supposed ages of 36/40? So that was odd for me. I will definitely give another book by this author a chance though.

There were so many things I loved about this book, starting with the title "Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other: a love story." I enjoyed the witty banter between Sebastian and Brynn. They got off to a tense start and the fireworks kept flying. I loved the small town aspect and the way the people responded to Brynn when she was growing up as well as when she came back after being gone for 20 years. I loved hearing how Doc cared for her and Sebastian and seeing how Jo nurtured her then and now even after being hurt by Brynn.
I loved seeing how Brynn grew throughout the story and came to understand herself better after she came back to her home town. I liked that things didn't go as she expected them to. I laughed at Sebastian's antics when the PTA ladies came to the bar and grill. I cried several times as I was moved by the way people forgave and stood up for their own. I love when a book makes me emotional.
I would love to see a series set in Adelaide Springs. I want to know more about Laila and Addie and Cole and the older generation too. This is a special town and I want to come back to it and see what the characters are up to and how their town is doing. I'd highly recommend it.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson for providing me with a free e-copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Meh. BASHE started out fairly slow which made it hard for me to get into it. Instead of facing the consequences of her actions, Brynn just seemed a brat looking to make herself look good. The story picks up in the second half but it was very all or nothing. The MCs seemed younger than their 36/40yrs.

This was my first advanced copy of an audiobook, which I listened to along with the ebook. I would like to thank both Thomas Nelson - Fiction and NetGalley for providing me with the copies in exchange for an honest review.
I give Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other a solid 3.75/4 stars. The book reminded me of Book Lovers, but with Nora and Charlie actually hating each other. The audiobook narration was excellent. The story is more about vibes than plot, and, to be honest, Brynn was not an easy character to like or relate to at the beginning. However, I think the author did a good job in developing her character, but the other characters, including Sebastian, could have received more attention.
The epilogue was one of my favorites in a long time.

Brynn has screwed up live on air and the only way to recove her reputation is making nice with the inhabitants of the tiny Colorado town she ran away from as a teenager. Most of those inhabitants remember her all too well, although there's one new person who's been doing some running away of his own.
This was an easy-to-get-into read and the writing flowed well (although the switching between first and third person was somewhat jarring); I liked the small town setting, Sebastian's character, and the way Brynn eventually came to terms with her past and what she wanted from life. However, it felt like there should be... more. I appreciate stories of characters in their mid-thirties and forties, as Brynn and Sebastian are, but Brynn in particular seemed a lot younger than 36 in her outlook. I wanted more detail of her life since leaving Colorado, more understanding of her background, more nuance in the development of the relationship between her and Sebastian. The book kept me interested throughout, but I was left feeling it could have been even better.

Brynn slips up and bashes her home town on national tv. She's sent home to her tiny Colorado town to fix things, but only seems to get more of her foot into her mouth with each interaction with others. Sebastian has been a resident of town for six years and is not thrilled that Brynn wants to use the town to help prop up her image. Yet the city counsel appointed him liason to her and has to take her around town - but he doesn't have to be nice to each other. Is this a case of first impressions not showing the whole truth?
I was not a fan of how rude Sebastian was to Brynn and did not want them to end up together halfway through the book. Brynn seemed completely unaware of how awful she was being to others. The second half of the book was quite enjoyable, but the first half was very cringy and I probably would have stopped reading if I wasn't reviewing it.

Usually I love this trope but, I couldn't get into this one. I didn't connect with the characters and I was finding myself enjoying the grumpy character and being annoyed with the sunshine character. Basically, I felt like she was a spoiled brat and even though the second half of the book was stronger than the first half...it wasn't for me!

My friends absolutely love Bethany Turner's books, so I was very excited to get an ARC of this one. Unfortunately, I decided to DNF after the beginning of the book left me very bored and uninterested. I think this could have worked for me if the initial setup wasn't dragged out so long. I also felt like sending Brynn to her hometown was not a good idea after the things she said in the beginning. Talk about a suicide mission! I will still give the author's other books a try, but this one was unfortunately a miss for me.

Unfortunately, this was not the book for me. As much as I wanted to DNF it, I did finish.
The story is very much an enemies to lover/sunshine x grump trope. I typically love that. However, the main female character was actually just a mean girl (she was supposed to be the sunshine.) The male lead was rude for a majority of the book.
I also feel like there was no real plot line. She was forgiven pretty early on and there wasn’t anything left to drive the story home.

This is funny, quick-to-read ride about my favourite trope “enemies to lovers”!
When the rising TV star Brynn succesfully compromises her career by revealing her mean side when unknowingly being live, the best damage control solution is also the hardest - to go back to her Colorado small town which she actively shamed in her live talk to gain the forgiveness. Little she knows that she will really touch her roots here...because her true heart is not the one of s fake sunshine superstar, but the hurt girl behind all that glitter, who needs acceptance, uncompromising love and the hint of that mountain beauty and peace. And there is Sebastian, who might need the chance for the true acceptance as well.
This is definitely fun and cute read. The banter is crazily funny, livid and intelligent; the storytelling is vivid and charming and the sparks between the characters are SO real (and hot, lets be true here). Ms Turner might be my favourite Christian rom-com authoress of nowadays because she simply can write sparky romance!
But...this read also might go much deeper. Everything is solved lightly, there is no catharsis, no fight, no real growth. Brynn definitely has past issues which are touched very lightly. And the love is also found very lightly. But life is no Hallmark movie.
But still, the sparks are the best; much can be forgiven for that! And for Orly, the Black Catholic cameram sidekick, who is really my favourite character here.
I also hope that this is the start of a series, because there are many stories waiting to be told in that smalltown!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC. The opinions in the review are my own.

The file isn’t formatted in a way that makes it easy for my to read it. It’s not a reflection yon the book or the author or the publisher or anything. I’ll probably buy the book and read it that way! I’m excited about it . I am just struggling to make it work for me.

As the name suggests, Brynn & Sebastian's meet-cute or any other meetings were not a sight to behold, unlike the gorgeous backdrops of Colorado.
I loved how these two butted heads in everything, which made the tension run high. I loved how the hatred or the snarkiness felt natural instead of forced. They each had their own thing going on; their pasts & presents. The small-town community & and the second characters added a charm to the story.
Overall, I'd say this was a very happy book for me despite having some heavy topics mentioned.
Thank you Netgalley and for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

Due to a snarky comment made on live tv, Brynn is back in her small hometown of Colorado to repent. Sebastian, a superstar reporter who escaped from the reporting scene under mysterious circumstances, is made to babysit Brynn & assist her for a project.

🦇 Brynn and Sebastian Hate Each Other Book Review 🦇
❝ "But I think you're walking this tightrope between feeling like you have to earn your keep — lay low and stay out of trouble — and just wishing that for once in your life you could feel like your value didn't have as much to do with what you do as who you are." ❞
❓ #QOTD What's your favorite enemies-to-lovers story? ❓
🦇 Brynn Cornell is America's Ray of Sunshine—a kind-hearted, girl-next-door cohost of the popular morning show Sunup...that is, until she lets it slip that she hates her hometown of Adelaide Springs on-air. As a last-ditch attempt to smooth over the fans she's lost, Brynn returns home to capture some feel-good footage of her returning to her humble beginnings. Unfortunately, the townsfolk of Adelaide Springs aren't so quick to forgive her. When she arrives, she's greeted by Sebastian Sudsworth; a superstar, award-winning reporter who disappeared from the front lines to hide in Adelaide Springs of all places. They instantly clash. Can Brynn win Sebastian and the rest of the town over in time to save her reputation?
💜 This small-town, enemies-to-lovers romance is a quick, easy read. From the first scene, The Morning Show vibes are as intense as Brynn's job as cohost, but it's obvious she's plastered her on-air personality on like a mask for too long. Bethany Turner does a great job of capturing that atmosphere in a single scene (though, until the epilogue, it's all we really get of it). It's the "secret" backstories of both Brynn and Sebastian that drive the first act. Unfortunately, both backstories are revealed too quickly. Readers never get the chance to delve into the reason behind Brynn's hatred for Adelaide Springs (her mother), especially since a secondary character reveals the truth while she's not in the room. Even with his grumpy demeanor around Brynn, Sebastian's protective nature for Adelaide Springs make him instantly lovable.
🦇 Unfortunately, there's no REAL conflict driving the story. Brynn is forgiven quickly enough, and the animosity between Brynn and Sebastian isn't compelling or lasting enough to provide any real tension. The character development is minor for them both; Brynn returns to her roots and realizes she hates her job, then goes right back to her old life. Sebastian is still living with the trauma of his past, and though he reveals the secrets he's been keeping to the world, the development feels too forced. Brynn isn't a very likable MC, either, and there's no real redemption for her. Perhaps the biggest pet peeve is the switch between Brynn's first-person POV and Sebastian's third-person POV. This is the second book I've read like this, and I find it awkward.

🦇 Major thanks to the author @seebethanywrite and publisher @thomasnelson for providing an ARC of this book via Netgalley. 🥰 This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.

This book didn’t work for me! I’m a sucker for the grumpy x sunshine trope, but in this case, the sunshine character was a mean girl, and the grump was unnecessarily rude for most of the book.
I’m giving this two stars because I did enjoy the dynamic between the characters in the last few chapters. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
