Thanks to NetGalley for an ecopy of this book. (My review is based off the ARC contents. Unsure if things were changed in final production.)
Okay so this was a bit of a ride. I love me an alpha/omega type story. This reads a lot like various Mangas I have read before. That's not necessarily a bad thing. I am a huge fan of dark romances as well. I think the sticking point for me was that I wasn't expecting it to be as dark as it was.
There are content warnings in the beginning of the book but I think they really downplay the content in the book. The MMC gets r@ped several times and the content warning only says dubious consent. Which it's not.... the Sub gender class get absolutely NO say in anything that happens to then because the Dom gender can impose their will on them. It's not dubious con if the MMC is actively hating and trying to rebel against the force that literally takes ALL agency away from him. I think if the CWs actually matched, I wouldn't have had much to say about it.
Beyond that, the rest of the book was fine? The pacing was a bit wonky and the characters felt one dimensional.

This was an okay erotic story. The cover looks like it would be for a graphic novel, so I was surprised when I realized that this was not the case. The characters were fun, even if I wasn't sure what was motivating them at times. The plot was confusing at times and some aspects of the Dom/sub dynamic felt a little cliché. I felt like I've seen this sort of story before on fandom sites. There were quite a few grammatical and editing errors throughout as well. Overall not bad, but I wouldn't recommend it highly.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ecopy of this book.

This book is a Sub/Dom universe that is reminiscent of the Omegaverse Universe. Your Sub/Dom sex is discovered at a certain age. Anthony who was born expected to be a Dom is born a Sub and has to deal with no longer having control of his body and changing the life he was supposed to have.
Warning: Nonconsensual sex with 2 partners.
The Sub/Dom universe had rules and to-the-point explanations. However, it seemed to put the world at a very one dimensional level and a pretty predictable ending. Even with these aspects I still found myself invested in these characters. By characters I mean Anthony and Noah, the connection we have is only to Anthony and then abruptly to Noah. No one else seemed to matter or care. I do wish more time was spent on the secondary characters.
In conclusion, I was pleasantly surprised with this book. Right from the start I was hooked on knowing more and I could not put this book down until we hit the end and then everything felt a little rushed,

As much as I enjoyed this authors writing I feel like there could have been more substance to the overall plot. You don’t really feel much for Anthony in the beginning because of the very abrupt change in circumstances he experiences which are only implied at best. There’s no interaction with his family or the servant who trains him beforehand to show what he's really losing. I feel like I’d still read this authors other works because it is generally well written it just needed a little more to it.

This was poorly written, and I couldn't get into more than five pages before giving up. At a writing standard, it was 0%, so I don't think it's fair to judge the plot or characters when I couldn't even access without cringing.

This was a quick, spicy read. I enjoyed it a lot and thought it was very well done. I'm very picky about my erotica but thought the author did a great job with this one. I would read more by them.

In honesty, I didn't finish it because I wasn't feeling it as much. I did find it interesting about the topic of dom/sub being this huge hierarchy-like their universe. Maybe for it being my first time reading something like that, I wasn't as prepared but it never got me hooked. I felt bad for Anthony because the treatment he got from his parents after his results.

I think what threw me off was the age of Anthony's dom, I didn't expect it to be an age gap (especially how Anthony described him), I don't know if that put me in a slump but I think it drove me away even more from the story, again- personal preferences of mine.

I liked the book. So much of spice. The story was also interesting. A different world was created. I just have one word for this. Fascinating.

This was my first time reading a novel in this Sub/Dom universe and perhaps I don't know enough of this genre to fully appreciate this novel. It has good sex scenes, and a rushed HEA, but it was a cute read and the cover helped a lot to get me intrigued.

There haven’t been that many Dom/Sub universe manga licensed in English, and there’s nothing wrong with taking inspiration from a popular genre in Japan and making it your own, of course, in the past a few creators have seeming chosen more of a path of plagiarism and fetishization more than appreciation, so I was curious to know where this one would fall.

It fell in the bracket of messy, needlessly convoluted soap opera. I cringed my way through this book. Not for me at all! It’s missing the connection between Dom & Sub, that goes beyond sex and in the first chapter I already had to suspend belief in the society the author laid out.

I did like the depiction of aftercare!

I think that the average romance reader looking for something mindless to scroll through on a weekday night wouldn’t have a problem with this. It’s definitely more erotica than romance and if you go into it thinking that, it’d probably go down better.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc in exchange for an honest review .

This was my first time reading something like this and it was not bad! And I typically am not into this type of genre but this one is actually really good.

Really disappointed in this one. It had such an interesting premise - a sort of take on the omegaverse with Dom/Subs instead of Alpha/Omega but it just fell flat.

The characters had zero personality. The Hero’s only traits were pink hair and FANG. I swear to god the fang is brought up every other paragraph, it drove me CRAZY. Honestly the only character I halfway liked was the “bad” guy we weren’t supposed to root for.

I think maybe some more world building and better fleshed out characters would have helped this book. Instead it just read like bad fanfiction (is it fanfiction?!)

Thank you NetGalley for this eARC.

This was a short read, but I loved the depictions of BDSM practices. I wasn’t really familiar with it before this book, but I feel like I know a little more about it. I think I was a little confused by the cover because I thought it was manga going into it.

I'm a simple woman. I see a bondage BL erotica book, I read it. 😌

I Want You to Own Me has a refreshing take on the Dom/sub role that reminds me of omegaverse dynamics. In this book, some people will exhibit a secondary sex (either Dom or sub) upon entering adulthood. Unlike normal BDSM books, the secondary sex makes the individual's tendency to be dominating or submissive a lot more predominant than just mental preferences. There's a sprinkling of mind control here that I thoroughly enjoyed.

This book started off surprisingly dark and traumatic for the main character, Anthony. I honestly almost DNF'ed it, because I thought his love interest was a complete asshole. But it turned out Anthony didn't meet the other main character, Noah, until almost 40% into the story! Be warned, if non-con isn't your thing, you'll probably struggle through the early part of the book too.

I'm a very character-driven reader, so I was a little bit disappointed that everyone in this book was a tad bland and unintelligent. But well, I expected a bondage BL erotica book, and Eve Healy delivered. I'd say this was pretty good!

“if i had my way, i would be strapped to him at all times, letting him lead me around whenever he wished.”

well- i actually like dark books, but this one wasn't for me. i just couldn't bring myself to finish this book, but what i liked was that Noah gave Anthony a lot of praise, i love well written praise kink.

This was not what I was expecting at all. I read the description and thought it sounded interesting because of the bit of world building the author does. However, based upon the cover I made the mistaken assumption with was manga, and it was not.

The first 30% was a bit rough and difficult to get through but once I did it turned into a bit of a sweet love story.

Lets be honest. Most of us requested this simply because you loved the cover. But i definitely wasn't expecting to read something this spicy and dark.
Despite both his parents being Dom, a young man finds out that is in fact a sub. I liked the idea of secondary gender.
Overall it was ok.

This was my first time reading anything from this author and I actually really enjoyed this book. It was dark, and spicy what more could you need? I loved this and dom/subverse is one of my favorite genres. I really wish there were more stories like this. I thought the story was well written and the characters were just as good like I literally couldn't help but hate those crappy parents and especially Daniel he is just a snake. I liked that the characters weren't overly perfect. Noah and Anthony were so cute and sweet together. I really want more of them honestly. I felt so bad for Anthony at the start of this that it was kinda hard to read without getting mad about his situation and how he was treated. The smutt was detailed enough without being chessy or absurd. It was also evenly placed throughout the story as well. I thought the writing was decent. I felt like the pacing was good and everything was easy to follow. I didn't feel like anything was rushed at any point and thankfully it wasn't a slow burn either. I want to read the author's other works now. They just got themselves a new fan. I hope they come up with more Dom/subverse stuff in the future.

Don’t get yourself be fooled by the cover of this book !!!! It was dark, spicy and too hot to handle !!!!
Definitely not something I was expecting. A story of Dom/sub dynamics where a young man finally figured out that, despite his parents being Dom, he is a sub. A story of experiences and abuse and love and fitting with someone when you’re least expecting it.
Wow it was quite good!!!
