Busch brings the excesses, tragedies, and chaos of the Busch family to light in this familial autobiography. He brings the inner life of this famous family to the forefront of the novel, showing the family’s rise with his great-grandfather and grandfather and its fall in more recent generations. Emphasizing the atypical life he and his siblings and half-siblings had growing up, Busch balances the personal side with the business and family politics and explores the impact and consequences that this childhood and family environment had on his development. The book is a mix of third-person and first-person biography, which personalizes this style of biography. For readers interested in the lives of American business families and celebrity families like the Buschs, this book will give great insight into the life of one of these family dynasties.

You are about to enjoy a fascinating, deeply personal, and revealing recounting of the family and the brand we all thought we knew. It's not just behind the scenes and tell-all, but a journal into the world and lives of one of the most powerful families in America, how they go there, how they survived business and personal tragedies, and how they dealt with the realities of life. The story spans four generations and two continents, but I know you will get to know Billy Busch as if you have known him all your life. Enjoy!

This was a thoroughly enjoyable book to read. It's nice to see how the other half lives. The good news on this is that it wasn't trite.

I very much enjoyed this book that Billy Busch wrote about his life. I really did not know much about his family prior to reading it. He describes a very "rich" childhood in which he had household staff and access to an entire zoo right in his back yard. However, his childhood was also completely bereft of any emotional attachments to family. As a young child he felt that his life was "magical" but over time he begins to realize how horrific it really is. The good news is that he finds a great woman to marry and he has devoted his life to raising his children differently. This book even prompted me to watch a few episodes of his reality show as well.
