I've only read five chapters, but I'm hooked. This is the second story in this series and follows Nicky, once a bad boy now a successful artist, and Gillian, once a good girl now reeling from a divorce and starting over. This book has some of my favorite tropes: friends to lovers, second chance, flashbacks, and sex lessons. The representation is so great. The writing style is as beautiful as always. There's an air of mystery about the story that I can't wait to get to. What happened between them? Did Nicky ever try to tell Gillian how he felt? Does she know about his family? I have so many questions!!! I can't wait to read the rest of the novel and am counting down the days until I get to!

"Full Moon Over Freedom" by Angela M. Lopez is a sweet and steamy read that will leave you wanting more.

The story follows childhood friends turned lovers, Gillian and Nicky, who find themselves back in their hometown for the summer. The tension between them is palpable, and you'll find yourself rooting for them to reconnect. The characters are imperfect and relatable, especially Gillian as she struggles with the reality of her life falling apart. The glimpses of the community and history of Freedom, Kansas add depth to the story. However, there are occasional moments of repetitive and hazy writing, and some confusion regarding the character named William.

Despite these small issues, the book is a wonderful read that offers a unique perspective on Mexican and Mexican-American culture. The preview promises steamy scenes and intersectionality, making "Full Moon Over Freedom" a must-read for romance fans.

It’s kind of hard to give a full rating for a preview, but man did this *grab* me. I don’t normally read contemporary romance/romance in general, but this book here genuinely caught my full attention and left me requesting the full novel!
I picked up the preview after hearing raving reviews of ‘After Hours on Milagro Street’, and was not disappointed in the slightest with these first five chapters of the next Milagro Street novel. I think this made a new fan of Angelina Lopez and I genuinely can’t wait to go back and read the first book while awaiting the publication of this one!

This is a cute small town romance about a recently divorced ex bruja and her childhood crush who’s back in town to paint a mural. I’m enjoying it so far and really interested to see where the summer takes them! So far there’s not as much magic/brujeria as I had anticipated but I’m really hoping we see more of that in the rest of the book!

Sweet, spicy, and gravitational! Having previewed just the first 5 chapters I was excited that I found myself rooting for Gillian & Nicky to connect and relieve the tension in the air! I love both our main characters for feeling like real, imperfect people, especially Gillian as she is struggling with the reality of her life falling apart. I see myself in her ambitions and reach for perfection despite it being unrealistic. I love the glimpses of the community and history of Freedom, Kansas we get within the text. This book seems to be setting itself up to be a wonderful read. The only gripes I found myself having were with the writing (occasionally feeling repetitive or like it was dragging on and hazy), and the way the character named William was described ( I was and still kind of am confused on how he knows of Nicky and why he's like a pseudo father to him. It is very possible it was mentioned but I missed it.). However, all in all, I am very much looking forward to this book's release to continue reading their love story in greater depth.

I greatly appreciate Harlequin and NetGalley for allowing me to read this in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions!

I would sell my soul to read the rest of this book. I’m so mad at myself for thinking I could handle just reading the first 5 chapters. It’s so good so far!!!!

Wow. I absolutely LOVED After Hours on Milagro Street, and have been looking forward to Gillian’s story ever since. The first five chapters have me hooked, and I can’t wait to get to know Gillian and Nicky even better!

They were childhood friends, and then they were lovers, and then they didn't talk for years—and now they're back in the same town for the summer, in very different places but very, *very* much on each other's radar.

This preview starts with a (*cough*) not-quite bang that tells me that there is steam aplenty to come in "Full Moon Over Freedom," and I'm over the moon (and thus also over Freedom?) to see Mexican-American protagonists in mainstream romance. Gillian—Juliana by birth and to her family—has spent the past decade or more making herself over into someone she thinks of as more palatable to a white East Coast crowd, while Nicky has made a name for himself as a Mexican-American artist, and I'm very curious about how Gillian's identity will evolve over the course of the book.

The full book is out in September, and if the preview is anything to go by it'll be very steamy, with intersectionality and something to learn about Mexican (and Mexican-American) culture—and who can argue with that?

Thanks to the author and publisher for providing this preview through NetGalley.

This was steamy and hot from the beginning 🥵I'm already so in love with the dynamics between our two main characters, and I wish the full version was available to read! Keeping my eye on this one!
