The Bear and Her Book is a picture book that follows a curious bear who wants to see the world. She travels to different animal habitats and uses her book to help animals in each place.

I really liked the illustrations and story of this book. The bear’s travels to different types of habitats (jungle, desert, ocean) and meeting animals there will be good teaching for children learning about nature. I also loved that the bear found herself in love with reading at the end of the book.

What I didn’t appreciate was the way that the author couldn’t decide on a consistent rhyme scheme, or if they wanted to rhyme words at all. Thus, as a read-aloud the words just don’t flow nicely.

This picture book would be best for children between ages 4-7.

The Bear and Her Book is the story of a travelling bear that helps other animals along her way until she finds her place in a book store. I liked how the bear helped others along the way using her book as a guide of how to help. I liked how the bear travelled from place to place and I love how she ended up in a book store and stayed! Beautiful pictures, rhymes and a great story over all.

The illustrations are wonderful. Great storyline for the young reader complete with non-cheesy rhyming pattern.

I enjoyed that rhythm like narrative throughout the book and beautiful illustrations. This story was about a lovely Bear that was trying to discover where she belonged in the world. On her journey she used her book to help those in need that she encountered. Even though each time she was able to accomplish something helpful for another she wasn't completely satisfied. She finds herself finally discoving what truly makes her happy and identify her place in society.

I really enjoyed this super sweet book. The bear goes on a journey because she knows she has so much to see. The story is sweet and the illustrations are beautiful. I will read that to my students and explain to them how books can open the world to them. The bear brought her book everywhere and it was able to help many creatures she met along the way. Beautiful story, full of heart and intrigue. Where will bear end up?

The Bear and her Book is a lovely rhyming read with adorable illustrations which will delight anyone reading this book.

This was a cute story. My four year old son absolutely loved it. He was very engaged throughout. The illustrations are beautiful and the text engaging. My only wish was that the rhyming was consistent throughout the story. It felt very abrupt at times. Overall, a fun story to read with run kids.

I loved this delightful book about a curious bear traveling the world, seeking adventure, and helping any creature in need along the way, with, of course, the bear's favorite book! Poetic verse takes the reader along with the bear on an amazing journey to the jungle, the sea, the desert, and the big city where the bear discovers the best thing of all... a bookstore! OK, it could also have been a library but it was a bookstore.

Bear longs for an adventure, to find where she belongs with her precious book in hand she sets off, but each place visited is still not perfect. So she moves on until she comes across the best place for her.

This was such a beautiful story I really loved that her big book for being wise helped her make her friends and help them feel better that was so sweet and so clever. She continued on after each adventure and got to see the world on her trip it was so sweet.

The illustrations were really unique and pretty, they worked really well with this story and I enjoyed looking on each page to see what else was featured on the page. I enjoyed the repetitiveness of the story and the easy flowing writing style used it made the whole story very pretty and magical.

This is a beautiful picture book that little ones would love hearing, I do highly recommend this book. It’s lovely to look at and very lovely to read. It’s shares an adventure, friendship, kindness and different locations around the world.

I really enjoyed the illustrations and thought this story flowed very well. I loved the self discovering journey bear was on and those that were helped along the way, very touching. The ending was very cute, I too would consider my happy place surrounded by books. I feel strongly this book will end up in our regular rotation and I’ll highly recommend this to others parents for their children. It makes a great addition to the shelf and would make a great gift for an expecting family. 🤍

5 Stars - The Bear and Her Book is a delightful book written by Frances Tosdevin and illustrated by Sophia O'Connor. I read this to my niece and nephews and they loved it! 

This is a story about a bear whose curiosity about the world yearns for more than the forest she calls home. As she sets out on her adventures to travel the lands she meets new friends, but always finds that she needs more ... "The world is big, and there's so much to see, and a bear must go where she wants to be." I love that this quote is repeated throughout the story. It allows small children to read along and feel that they are part of the book too. Ultimately the bear discovers that bookstores and books can take her anywhere she wants to go regardless of where she calls home.

A beautifully-illustrated book with a sweet story that flowed well for the most part.

There were a few lines that I wasn't sure if I liked. For instance changing to first-person "a bear as curious as me" when it was mostly third-person I felt was a bit jarring. "happy sneeze-free smile" seemed a bit wordy to me and didn't flow as well as the rest of the text.

The Bear and Her Book is a beautiful idyllic picture book with a tremendous quest for self-fulfilment. This book embodies themes of friendship and kindness. The lyrical rhyming text is easy to read aloud and children will love joining in with the repeated phrase. I particularly liked the way Bear refers to her Bear's Big Book of Being Wise to help the different animals she meets on her journey to find her perfect place to be that satisfies her curiosity and her desire for adventure. There is a totally satisfying ending that will resonate with book lovers everywhere.

The superb comforting illustrations with their soft neutral colours create a calm, relaxing atmosphere that compliment the text. I like the way Bear’s Big Book of Being Wise stands out red against the gold, green and turquoise colour palette.

I recommend this book to teachers and parents. A treasure for any book shelf. A joy to read.

Adorable book about a bear on a journey to see all she hasn't seen. Bear takes her big bear book of healing and heals different animals a long the way. I loved the artwork and found the book entertaining. A cute idea about seeing what you want to see in life but also being content with learning new information from books.

I read this book to my daughter Izzy. She really liked how the book rhymes. She loved that the bear helps all the other animals. Her favorite part is the bear finds her happy place is with lots of books and a cat. This book is beautifully illustrated and friendly for children of any age. Izzy gave it 5 stars!

I loved this book. It's a beautiful look at going out in the world and searching more something more.
I loved that bear found the place he belongs is a library with books galore.
