I recently had the pleasure of reading this, and I have to say, it exceeded my expectations in so many ways. From the very first page, I was hooked by the engaging style and the intriguing characters. The author does an excellent job of building a world that feels both immersive and believable, making it easy to get lost in the story. The plot was full of twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. Just when I thought I had it figured out, the story would surprise me with something unexpected. I highly recommend this and all their work.

An interesting look at motherhood and longing for something that doesn't come easily. Some truly gross depictions of bug love (I don't know what else to call i) and fetishes that may not be to everyone's tastes. The end was great but I would have liked to find out more about the aftermath of that event

Deliver Me is disgusting, devastating, and, at times, tough to read. However, it's a terrific novel. Elle Nash created a desperate, misguided MC with little chance of redemption; we readers can't help but be disgusted by Daisy while simultaneously hoping she finds a way out.

This book was gross, in the best way !

Religious trauma, unhinged female character …
I read this while pregnant so the impact held a huge punch !

I could not put this down … this is a one sit read! BUCKLE UP

I've sat with this book for almost 24hrs and I still have no idea how to rate it. What an intensely grotesque book.

To a certain degree I enjoyed this and appreciated the commentary that Nash was trying to make. But overall it went too far with some scenes and there wasn't enough discussion or reason for the brutality to be there. It felt like the bleakness was just there to make the reader uncomfortable. Not to add to the plot.

Furthermore, Dee-Dee's descent into madness doesn't feel as believable once you get the last few flashback scenes. It's obvious that she's always been this way her whole life. It's just that at the end of the 'present day' timeline she reached her climax.

Be warned, there are a lot of content warnings. Infertility, abuse, assault, animal cruelty, murder, religious trauma, and possibly a couple of others I'm forgetting.

Elle Nash's Deliver Me is a hauntingly evocative novel that explores the complexities of desire and identity with raw intensity. Nash’s lyrical prose and deeply emotional narrative create a powerful and immersive reading experience. The novel's unflinching portrayal of vulnerability and self-discovery makes it a compelling and thought-provoking read.

This was my first time reading from Elle Nash and absolutely will not be my last. I was riveted from the first page. It is painful, raw, and so real. The themes of religious trauma and the female experience really ring true to my own experiences. If you need me, I'll be reading Elle Nash's entire backlist.

thank you to netgalley, the publisher, and elle nash for the advanced readers copy of "deliver me". this is a book that will make you whisper to yourself, "WTF did i just read...?" i think that is elle nash's forte, to be honest. this was such a twisted story that made my stomach tie into knots. following along dee dee's story was so stressful and so very devastating. "deliver me" has very strong ethel cain vibes with the evangelical Christian family we focus on. i am going to be thinking about this one for a long time, it has not left my mind since i have finished it. please, for the love of God, check trigger warnings though.

Y'all remember tampon girl from back in the day? Yeaahh...

Anyways, onto the actual review. So I typically love books with unhinged women and can appreciate well-written, unlikeable characters, but this one just didn't do it for me.

I think I was expecting it to lean more into body horror (and just horror in general) based on the description and other reviews, which it did at points, but not as much as I initially hoped it would. What I got instead was a drama about motherhood, religion, and trauma along with some gross scenes thrown in here and there, which is fine, but it was done in a way that left me wanting something more out of the story and from the characters. I did like the ending, I just wish it maintained that vibe throughout the entire book.

I'm also not sure if this was changed later, as I read an eARC version of the book, but the time jumps could be confusing and random at times. Not enormously so, but still enough to be noted.

Thank you NetGalley and Unnamed Press for the ARC!

Nash may be one of the best horror writers out there and there's not a ghost or creature to be found. "Deliver Me" is full of dread and regrets. It's certainly not fun to read but I couldn't stop reading either.

Didn't finish this, was not at all what I expected from the synopsis. Not my favorite, but will get a copy for our collection as we have other Elle Nash books.

Elle is an author I will automatically pick up without even knowing what the book is about. The writing is always beautiful and the topics covered are usually things I am already passionate or care about deeply. I did not manage to finish this one in time but it still lived up to expectations.

Elle Nash's *Deliver Me* was an extraordinary introduction to her compelling and nuanced literary voice for me. From the outset, I was drawn into the intricate world she crafts with such finesse, weaving together genres including Erotica, Literary Fiction, LGBTQIA+, Coming-of-Age, and General Fiction into a rich tapestry that explores deeply resonant themes. The book, which debuted on October 3rd, 2023, masterfully tackles the intricacies of motherhood and pregnancy, the daunting shadow of patriarchal and evangelical ideologies, the fight against religious dogmatism, and the arduous journey toward self-discovery and sexual autonomy, all while addressing issues like repressed desires, unfulfilled love, and the myriad forms of abuse.

Nash's narrative prowess shines through her psychologically dense and reflective style, marked by a clear focus on character depth, a willingness to confront explicit realities, and the skillful use of flashbacks to enhance the storytelling. A protagonist employed in a meat-packing facility is at the heart of this narrative. This setting serves as a stark backdrop to her internal turmoil over her unfulfilled desire for motherhood and the scars left by a religiously oppressive upbringing and a destructive romantic relationship.

The portrayal of the protagonist's ordeal is a testament to Nash's impeccable ability to draw the reader into a visceral, intimate experience. The narrative lays bare the crushing impact of strict, evangelical doctrines on one's sense of self and mental well-being, particularly when coupled with manipulative relationships.

From the moment I turned the first page, I was captivated by the raw, intimate journey of Dee-Dee, the main character. Her quest for motherhood, entwined with her struggle against her own psyche, is depicted with such raw honesty that it is both devastating and utterly engrossing.

*Deliver Me* is a haunting, profoundly impactful read that stays with you long after you've finished it. It's a narrative that offers a potential catharsis for readers who have navigated the turbulent waters of religious trauma. However, a word of caution: the book's intense themes necessitate a mindful approach to its consumption.

I recommend dedicating the time needed to immerse yourself in this book in a single sitting fully. The narrative's power is magnified when experienced in one continuous flow, ensuring the emotional and thematic resonance is fully absorbed. For those sensitive to its vivid themes, I advise caution and suggest reaching out for more detailed content warnings. Nash’s narrative has left me profoundly moved and keenly anticipating her future works.

A heartfelt thank you to Unnamed Press and Netgalley for providing the ARC of this mesmerizing book.

Deliver Me by Elle Nash follows Daisy, a meek and confused woman who works at a meat factory. "Dee-Dee" is desperate for a baby with her lover she refers to as "Daddy".
Haunted by the idea she is barren, she turns to hysterics in order to conceive and keep a child in her.
In the midst of her delusions, an old friend from her traumatic and religious past moves in upstairs. Dee-Dee is consumed with jealousy and obsession towards Sloane.
What unfolds from there is horrifying and unsettling but a bit predictable.
I found the animal torture a bit gratuitous - adding nothing to the overall story.
I was fond of the writing and will dig into more of the author's work.

This book is heavy. It explores pregnancy and mental illness and has some messed up content so reader beware.

Shocking yet strange, be prepared to read some truly horrific things.

Go in blind but expect anything.

I always love reading books about motherhood, since I am a mother they seem to get under my skin.

I've been meaning to read Elle Nash for some time, and I'm glad I started with what I imagine is her most accessible title. New-mom fiction has been fun to read lately. It's a genre I'm really happy to see gain popularity. Nash's voice is honest and just a bit desperate and makes for an exciting new (to me) voice. I'm definitely going to explore her backlist.

I loved the premise and was excited to read the book. I found parts of it to be a bit confusing, especially towards the end. The pacing was a bit slow at times and felt like the book could have used a bit more editing. Overall, I enjoyed the story and writing.

Elle Nash has written her magnum opus with this one. The way sh explores motherhood through her own unique lens is incredible. Everything about this book is heartbreaking but beautiful. And after reading it, the title has become even more significant. I can't look at this book without crying, but I'd recommend it to everyone.
