Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this eARC.

Sleep to Heal: 7 Simple Steps to Better Sleep by Dr. Abhinav Singh, with Charlotte Jensen, is a transformative work that delves into the profound impact of sleep on our lives. Dr. Singh, a double board-certified sleep physician, combines his extensive clinical experience and the latest scientific research to present a compelling narrative on the necessity of quality sleep.

The book is structured around seven actionable steps that promise to recalibrate one’s relationship with sleep. Dr. Singh’s approach is holistic, emphasizing sleep’s role as a cornerstone of health, potentially even surpassing nutrition and exercise in importance. The author’s passion for preventive medicine shines through as he guides readers through a journey of rejuvenation that promises not just a single night of restful sleep, but a lifetime of well-being.

What sets this book apart is its accessibility. Dr. Singh’s writing is clear and empathetic, making complex scientific concepts digestible for a lay audience without sacrificing depth. The anecdotes from his 15 years of treating over 7,000 patients add a personal touch, illustrating the transformative power of sleep across diverse demographics.

The book is not just informative but also motivational. It doesn’t merely explain the science behind sleep; it inspires action. Readers will find themselves eager to adopt the “Easy Sleep Reset” and other strategies laid out by Dr. Singh. The promise of improved health, creativity, and longevity is a compelling call to action.

In essence, Sleep to Heal is a clarion call to rediscover our natural, harmonious connection to sleep. It’s a reminder that in our fast-paced, always-connected world, we’ve traded away something precious—our health.

As a book reviewer who values creativity and critical analysis, I appreciate how Dr. Singh has crafted a guide that is both a pleasure to read and a practical toolkit. It’s a book that will likely find a permanent place on many bedside tables, consulted as a reference and a source of comfort. For anyone looking to improve their sleep and, by extension, their life, Sleep to Heal is an indispensable resource.

As someone who has struggled for years with sleeping from struggling to fall asleep to waking up in the night for hours. I have followed all the recommendations about caffeine, screen time, relaxing, reading. So I thought I would give this book a go. It is really well written, very informative. With a section on children and their sleep too.
Would recommend this to anyone who wants to understand their sleep better, this helped me.

"Sleep to Heal: 7 Simple Steps to Better Sleep" by Abhinav Singh offers a practical guide to improving one's sleep quality, addressing a common and vital aspect of overall well-being. Singh's book stands out for its positive and actionable approach, breaking down complex sleep science into manageable steps for readers. I found it very practical for myself and my sleep improvements.

The book begins on a positive note by emphasizing the importance of quality sleep for health and productivity. Singh's seven-step approach provides a clear framework, making it accessible for readers seeking to enhance their sleep habits. The inclusion of evidence-based insights adds credibility to the book's recommendations, empowering readers to make informed choices.

However, the book's brevity may leave some readers wanting more detailed explanations or additional tips beyond the fundamental seven steps. While the simplicity aids accessibility, individuals with specific sleep issues might find the book lacking in tailored guidance.

In summary, "Sleep to Heal" is a commendable guide for those looking to improve their sleep habits and overall well-being. Its positive tone and actionable steps make it suitable for a broad audience. However, readers seeking a more in-depth exploration of sleep-related topics may find the book serves as a valuable introduction rather than an exhaustive resource.

I just reviewed Sleep to Heal by Abhinav Singh. #SleeptoHeal #NetGalley where I give my honest opinion in exchange for a free copy.

I don't know how this book got published. It's more about HOW he's going to tell you how to sleep to heal, than him ACTUALLY telling you what to do/change. There's so much language & unnecessary verbiage to impress the readers, & tons of proof that sleep is needed & how when it improves your life is so much better.

I'm 60% in and I can't read anymore of his self-aggrandizing BS. I'm DNF here.

I don't recommend this book.

Abhinav Singh gives a delightful book full of information and good advice, in the book "Sleep to Heal". Although much of what there is to know is common sense, it's important to remember that often breaking patterns of behavior is about finding out we have been doing things that does not make sense. This book leads you through a great deal of research and discussion to help us map a course to better sleeping habits. Untangling the many ways, we prevent ourselves from sleeping is the journey of the book. Although it is quite long it does not feel as though it is anything but a way of relaxing. The book helps you visualize a strategy for better sleeping. I highly recommend this book.

I think putting your best foot forward and always looking ahead not behind is such an important trait for any human being to have. Now, this is easier said than done, but something that we can all work on. Working and redefining ourselves is the epitome of being human. I think that sometimes we become so caught up on the hype and trying to please others before we please ourselves is so detrimental.

This author was able to bring out those lessons that we need to hear and learn in order to become our best selves!

This is the first book I read on Sleep. I am interested in this subject due to my health currently. I never gave sleep any thought in the past, except it was not something that restored me. I went to bed tired and wore up tired and thought that was just the way it was. This book has educated me so much and I understand now that the sleep I always had, is not normal and hope to improve that soon!

Sleep to Heal is full of information, given in a friendly way, down to earth, with explanations that are easy to understand. I generally do not read non-fiction, but I am so glad that I found this book and was motivated to read it. Dr. Abhinav Singh gives examples of patients he has helped in his book and I can be added to that number. He has definitely helped me!

Thank you to Humanix Books and NetGalley for allowing me to read the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.

For NetGalley Only: Notes on the ARC (not the book)
It was extremely frustrating to read this ARC. The words “Humanix Books” appears throughout the text. I searched this after completing the book and counted 200 entries from the beginning to location 1864. I then stopped counting, but the last entry is at location 2746, so you can imagine that how many more times that phase appears. I estimate 11%, so approximately 302 times in the entire text of the book.

The above was annoying, but I could deal with it, but the main issue with the ARC is that many, many, many, many (have I wrote “many” enough times?) sentences are just cut off. I can assume I know what the meaning was, but not in all cases.

For example, there is a section on “Strapped for Time?” which gives a 15-minute guide to better sleep. It is ASCEND, where each alphabet has a meaning. The meaning for D is totally missing in the ARC. The text cuts off in the explanation for N (Noise). I have no idea what D stands for.

I know ARC are not in perfect form, but when the file is very messed up as this one was, it really is very frustrating for a reader to continue. I was extremely motivated to read this book, since I wanted to learn about sleep, so I pushed forward. Had this been a book I was not very interested in; I think I would have stopped reading.

Super book if you want to know more about sleep and the effects it has on your health !! This book is jam packed with information that can make a huge difference to how you understand how to change/ improve your sleep.

I definitely learnt a few new things reading this book and have recommended it to family and friends who I know struggle with getting a good sleep.

I have manage to go from 6 hours to 7.5 hours sleep for 10 days now and the difference it has made to every day life is staggering !!!

Personally, I think there should be a book like this especially for the chronically ill and those who are disabled. For those who are not able to exercise or with a (involuntary) sedentary lifestyle, for those who do very well know that screens are to be avoided at nighttime, and for those, when visiting a specialist, it means they have to pay for it because of their lack of energy.

Being housebound, and ill with ME for over 18 years now, my heart breaks when I read about the misery all those people with Long Covid are dealing with. Similar to my own.
Could dysautonomia and sleep be related (or the other way around)? Especially for this particular group of people? What is the longterm effect of drugs like Amitriptyline? We don't know, as there isn't that much being researched, unfortunately.

I think there should be a book like this especially for those who live by the motto 'don't worry, everything is out of control.' Yes, I'm in a philosophical mood :), but the world is a mess and both ableism and disinterest are a very big part of this.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the book.
